Imagine storming off a set halfway through a film shoot because you don't like the script, costing people their jobs during a global pandemic, and then hiding behind "family reasons".
The Entitlement of John Boyega
by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 5, 2021 5:09 AM |
Boyega is a jerk. The Star Wars fandom will figure it out eventually.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 4, 2021 3:23 PM |
He's ugly and he can't act. Bye gurl.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 4, 2021 4:58 PM |
I never liked him. And his constant complaining of racism. The endless victimisation issues. Gurl, bye.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 4, 2021 5:07 PM |
Talentless.

“How dare that black man speak up for himself”
by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 4, 2021 5:49 PM |
Oh fuck off, it has nothing to do with race and you know it.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 4, 2021 5:50 PM |
Oh please. People act like no one ever left a film in progress before due to "creative differences."
I remember when Mandy Patinkin was bounced from Heartburn after shooting started because Mike Nichols didn't like what he was doing. Jack Nicholson replaced him.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 4, 2021 5:53 PM |
If he just spoke up for himself that would be one thing, but he's constantly trolling on Twitter, going to the press about how great it is that he's trolling people, and then demanding studios protect him from those "toxic fans" he just trolled.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 4, 2021 5:53 PM |
Mandy left after 1 day of shooting, John at the midway point. Also, how did Mandys career compare to Jacks? Boyega will cry about racial injustice when the offers dry up, failing to accept his own arrogance killed his career and not his skin color.

r8 I have had the experience of having a Black actor talk to me about something in the script he was uncomfortable with. I told him to talk to the star of the show who I knew to be a good guy and let him know your concerns and that's just what he did. The star got the exec and head writer on the phone, he came to set, they honored the actors concerns and changed the script. This was all the way back in the mid 90's (that's 1990's) before white people were overly inconvenienced by the calling out of racism or race sensitive issues.
I'm not saying Boyega's situation was like the gentleman actor I worked with, but it does happen from time to time that a Black actor sees something in a script the doesn't feel right based on something involving race.
Get a load of the sensitive germangayguy, too bad you weren't born early in the last century, you would have had plenty of company to share your sentiments.

R12 I would have saved so many cute Jewish boys!
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 4, 2021 6:20 PM |
R12 He could be totally right but this kind of behaviour is not going to do his career any favours.
He is a very small fish to behave like that. He will be gone is a second and nobody will miss him.
You need to know how to play your cards if you want to last in Hollywood

Sure thing r8.

But he cried at the BLM march! He's a good person! HE CRIED!
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 4, 2021 6:33 PM |
It seems like he has a huge chip on his shoulder and maybe has mental issues. Also, he’s not a good actor.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 4, 2021 6:36 PM |
Who the fuck is John Bodega?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 4, 2021 6:40 PM |
R12 ew gross, ur old. Go back to knitting in Shady Pines, gramp.

Well, that’s one way to describe a mental breakdown.

Whenever I’ve seen an interview with him he’s always made me feel uncomfortable. There’s a “powder keg about to explode” quality about him that is the best way to describe it. He seems like someone who would be very hard to work with, and I don’t really ascribe it to anything related to race, it seems to be about entitlement. As for British Black Actors, he’s seems to be the polar opposite of Daniel Kaluuya, who always comes off as very warm, relaxed and chill, John always seem a hair trigger away from explosion.

All I know is that Star Wars and JJ Abrams did him VERY wrong.
I was rooting for him, but this type of behavior does him no favors.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 4, 2021 6:51 PM |
R22 Fir the non Trekkies, what happened?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | June 4, 2021 6:55 PM |
There's been a couple of stories that made me think he's a very entitled:
Just prior to the Force Awakens release he emailed Robert Downey Jr. for advice on being a movie star, now there's nothing wrong with that and it's quite smart to contact someone with experience of exposure to the press and pressure of starring in blockbusters, but the way the story was told it was as if he expected to be as big as Downey pretty much over night and I still think he sees himself this way.
The second and much more interesting story is what happened during the production of the Last Jedi. During shooting he had a massive attitude problem, he was constantly bitching about how Daisy was being positioned as the star of the movie but he expected it to be shared, he caused a lot of problems to the point that he was called into a meeting with Kathleen Kennedy who warned him that if his behavior didn't improve he would be cut from the franchise and they'd write him out. Now, when watching the ending of that movie, Boyega's character is about to sacrifice himself but is saved just seconds before death, it wouldn't have been a big effort to change that in the edit to cut the part where he's saved.

R23, from what I understand Disney bowed to China and reduced his role due to the fact that China does not like black characters.
His role was reduced, and his face on the poster was made smaller, too.
BTW, I've never seen the movies he was in, but from what I've heard he was made a janitor instead of a Jedi.

Tiny Penis Syndrome.

The Star Wara sequels were a god awful mess and, unfortunately, he is guilty by association, just like everyone involved in the Star Wars prequels were. He shouldn't be surprised by it. Everyone except very young kids or braindead super-fans hate the Star Wars films outside of the original trilogy.
Apart from that, he definitely seems to have a huge chip on his shoulder.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 4, 2021 8:35 PM |
It has nothing to do with race and everything to do with him being an insufferable uggo!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 4, 2021 8:55 PM |
He doesn’t have the looks or talent to be such a diva.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 4, 2021 8:57 PM |
Daniel Kaluuya is a better actor. The bridgerton guy is better looking. Chadwick Boseman is way more charismatic. I dont know how he got cast in Star Wars among all the more charismatic black actors out there. I have no idea how Daisy Ridley got cast either— both of them are pretty random and forgettable and got overshadowed by their supporting cast.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 4, 2021 9:21 PM |
Daniel is very creative, he made his start on a tv show called Skins in which he was also a writer. Boyega on the other hand had one movie that was semi successful in the UK, has done mediocre blockbusters since and bitches about people not accepting him because of his race, when Samuel L. Jackson called out British black actors for taking roles from American black actors, did Boyega support him? No, he basically told him to shut up.

R9, Stewart Townsend was fired from the league of extraordinary gentlemen, for being a whiny bitch. He’ll get on someone’s nerves and then that’s it; in time.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 4, 2021 9:45 PM |
Time will tell; if there was genuinely an issue, people will rally around him. If he's being an asshole, it won't take long for the knives to come out about his bad behavior on this set, but others as well.

[quote]all the way back in the mid 90's (that's 1990's)
Because television in the 1890's only had 1 channel.

The new Star Wars trilogy should just be forgotten. It was fucking awful.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 4, 2021 11:55 PM |
R35 it will eventually be removed from the canon once CGI is so good that they can just do a seamless proper sequel to Return of the Jedi.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | June 5, 2021 4:19 AM |
Hopefully r36. Most people would just like to forget about the Skywalker trilogy. It's too bad that Luke, Leia and Han couldn't get a proper send-off. What they did with those characters was so lame.

[quote]Proof 1.
An imagur link of a ... piece of gossip ... posted on Instagram! Wow, what PROOF!
[quote]he caused a lot of problems to the point that he was called into a meeting with Kathleen Kennedy who warned him that if his behavior didn't improve he would be cut from the franchise and they'd write him o
Weird then, R24, how he said, very clearly, he'd only ever return to the franchise if Kathleen Kennedy and JJ Abrams were involved because he genuinely likes them a LOT.
[quote] There’s a “powder keg about to explode” quality about him that is the best way to describe it. He seems like someone who would be very hard to work with, and I don’t really ascribe it to anything related to race, it seems to be about entitlement. "We love our negros timid," said R21 at Datalounger.
[quote]Oh please. People act like no one ever left a film in progress before due to "creative differences."
And this is the best response to this. It happens quite a bit. It has happened to much bigger actors over the past few decades on various projects. However, since some people hate John Boyega they're going to turn it into whatever race-related issue they can even when it has nothing to do with race.
And read between the lines:
[quote]“We remain committed to Jeremy Saulnier’s extraordinary film and look forward to resuming production. We look forward to continuing our partnership with John Boyega’s UpperRoom Productions, in addition to our upcoming film They Cloned Tyrone in which he also stars.”
They don't seem that pissed about him leaving because they very well might not be.

I can’t stand this asshole.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | June 5, 2021 4:59 AM |
Boyega does have a diva reputation. And he's not even a real star. Anybody could've been in the Star Wars movies.
