I thought Joy was the MSNBC poster child?

by Anonymousreply 305/31/2021

the anti-Joy trolls are really obnoxious. Why watch her if you hate her? I'm glad she's on just to piss you off. Old racist pieces of shit, too fucking bad.

I don't like Scarborough so I don't watch him. It really is that simple.

by Anonymousreply 405/31/2021

I'm shocked Joe Scarborough was working this morning.

It's a holiday, but he was on the air with a live show.

What a miracle!

by Anonymousreply 505/31/2021

Who writes Joy’s tweets?

by Anonymousreply 605/31/2021

A basic question: how many African-Americans actually watch MSNBC on the weekends?

by Anonymousreply 705/31/2021

wow diva Lawrence working a special 2 hour shift on a holiday and at a much earlier time! Shocked

by Anonymousreply 805/31/2021

Ari & Chris & Nicolle worked Friday, so think they all trade off on holidays.

Of course Rachel & Brian are off both days.

by Anonymousreply 905/31/2021

Joy doesn’t comment that black men are abusing asian women in anti-asian attacks. She only condones the whites.

by Anonymousreply 1005/31/2021

Sometimes these shows on holidays on MSNBC are shows that they recorded earlier in the week just to show on the holiday. It is hard to tell unless some news happens that they reference or don't reference. Rather deceptive of MSNBC.

I think he's going to break Vaughn's heart.

by Anonymousreply 1405/31/2021

[quote] I don't trust Vaughn's "friend."

I agree, R13.

He looks like a groupie, who's just using Vaughn because he's famous.

by Anonymousreply 1505/31/2021

R9 Brian had a 2 hour show after Lawrence

Rachel honestly deserves her special treatment. She's by far the highest rated show on the network and they also have her on the panel for all elections or important speeches

by Anonymousreply 1605/31/2021

[quote] Sometimes these shows on holidays on MSNBC are shows that they recorded earlier in the week just to show on the holiday.

That's true, but Lawrence's 2-hour Memorial Day show was indeed live (mentioned breaking news from the holiday). I was surprised. I didn't see Brian's show, but I assume it was live too.

by Anonymousreply 2106/01/2021

R21 I'm not R20, but I think they just meant that Joe is at work.

He did a live show on Monday (the holiday) which is surprising, because he normally has the holiday off.

by Anonymousreply 2406/01/2021

Ugh Jason Johnson 💩

by Anonymousreply 2506/01/2021

I usually am ok with JJ, R25, unless he goes off on some Millennial snowflakey bullshit like he did during the 2020 Democratic primary season.

But what he just said on Nicolle's show was just beyond ignorant: "To be honest, I don't even CARE about *snort* INFRASTRUCTURE. Joe Biden just doesn't GET it."

Pffft. The Biden Administration can work on infrastructure AND a new voting rights bill. Yes, Jason, at the same time.

by Anonymousreply 2606/01/2021

Claire McCaskill demonstrated on Nicolle's show why the Democrats will probably lose the House and Senate in 2022. Democrats have got to stop the "when they go low, we go high" crap. Get rid of the damn filibuster if they can't change its structure.

by Anonymousreply 2706/01/2021

Nicolle has been having Jason on her show alot lately.

Joy is probably going to be on aggressive fire tonight.

by Anonymousreply 2806/01/2021

As I live and breathe- Chris Matthews!

by Anonymousreply 2906/01/2021

Chris Matthews acquitted himself well! Great to see back and watch he and Joy try not to constantly interrupt each other.

by Anonymousreply 3006/01/2021

Oh God! WHY? WHHHY? I don’t miss Chris Matthew’s ugly block head ass at all!

by Anonymousreply 3106/01/2021

Whose show is Chris Matthews on?

by Anonymousreply 3206/01/2021

Joy’s, R32. They’re old friends, they go way back.

by Anonymousreply 3306/01/2021

[quote]Whose show is Chris Matthews on?

Joy Reid. It was two blowhards trying to yell over each other.

by Anonymousreply 3406/01/2021

No, he isn't, R33. But here on DL, cute twink = homo.

by Anonymousreply 3506/01/2021

Yep R34. It sure was.

by Anonymousreply 3606/01/2021

Joy really did STFU tonight.

by Anonymousreply 3706/01/2021

R37, if that was Chris Matthews' doing, I applaud him.

by Anonymousreply 3806/01/2021

I happened to catch Johnathan Lemire filling in for Kasie Hunt yesterday morning, did anyone else?

It looked like it was indeed Way Too Early for that man after a holiday....

I noticed the beatch who got him fired was on a panel segment last week. Surprised she had the nerve to show her face. Whatever you think of Mathews, he deserved better. She was made uncomfortable on 3 occasions by his inappropriate and entirely tame compliments on her appearance, never once did she confront him like an adult, but chose to slime him publicly on social media. I will have to agree with you, Anne E. Lingus.

Any guy who doesn't even have the motivation to comb his hair properly, surely doesn't wipe his own ass properly.

It's just a mark of laziness.

by Anonymousreply 5206/02/2021

[quote]Does "Smirky" Lemire own a comb?

It would seem not, R43. Years ago I posted on an early MSNBC thread that Lemire reminded me of hot ginger pornstar Connor Maguire.

No more. The more he appears on the various MSNBC shows, the more annoying he gets in an Ari Melber way--trying way too hard to get a corny jokey line across.

I miss the old Lemire posted in front of his Oliver Twist-esque red brick pandemic wall.

by Anonymousreply 5306/02/2021

You are so right r51. He’s always bitching and whining and looking at things with his glass half empty ass. I bet he’s one bitchy bottom.

by Anonymousreply 5406/02/2021

[quote] Lemire has been HOSTING? Isn’t he an AP writer? Burning the candle at both ends...

I think Lemire has a healthy perspective on himself. He can't read the prompter worth shit - he puts emphasis on every preposition & conjunction to get through the sentence. And his hair is now a big improvement on the lame ChuckTodd cut that he used to wear. Anyway aren't there people on set who's job it is to minimize bad hair?

by Anonymousreply 6006/02/2021

Jason Johnson flipped out after Joe Biden’s speech yesterday, to the point where Kimberly Atkins Stohr gently but firmly pushed back. Claire McCaskill and Nicolle were caught off guard by the suggestion that the President speaking clearly about Tulsa massacre was its own form of nice white supremacism. Johnson’s response is always going to be outrage.

by Anonymousreply 6406/02/2021

Vaughn Hillyard is gay.

by Anonymousreply 6506/02/2021

Can someone please tell me why MSNBC management keeps Jason Johnson? Just what does he bring to any discussion other than a big fat unattractive man who is a racist? He is an angry imbecile.

by Anonymousreply 6606/02/2021

Remember when you liked Jason Johnson? I think it was before I followed him on twitter. He's a damaged guy in an empty apartment who spent his childhood with Marvel comics, sitcoms and video games. His good buddy is Tiffany. I wonder if he's out of the closet.

by Anonymousreply 6706/02/2021

by Anonymousreply 7206/03/2021

Joy's show is basically an hour-long Race rant.

by Anonymousreply 7306/03/2021

It really is. Now that Trump is gone, we can only worry so much about Q-Anon lunacy, so we need to panic about something else—and it might as well be race.

And I say that as someone who truly was panicked about Trump for most of 2016-20.

by Anonymousreply 7406/03/2021

Deservedly so...

by Anonymousreply 7506/03/2021

[quote] Jason Johnson must get paid by the sputter, since that's the only way he ever communicates.

Jason needs a wake up call. They should book him next to the silver-tongued silver fox Jelani Cobb, and the error of his ways will become readily apparent, to himself as well as to management.

I've always thought that Garrett Haake is such a handsome sexy guy - but he seemed to have serious dark circles under his eyes. It took me a while to realize that it's not darkened skin, rather his eyeballs protrude enough that part of his lower lids are actually in shadow. I know I must have seen this in others, but I can't name when.

by Anonymousreply 8206/04/2021

Garrett Halle is awkward looking and not sexy.

They had a huge wedding but within a year he was showing off other women on his Instagram. Radio silence on a divorce announcement.

by Anonymousreply 8706/04/2021

Garrett couldn’t get it up for a woman.

by Anonymousreply 8806/04/2021

This isn't about you, Vaughn/R88.

by Anonymousreply 8906/04/2021

Watched a little of Tiffany this am. She seems calmer but the content is still this week in racism. Fine. How about one hour a week on environmental news? Also, how about a program on solutions communities have come up to deal with systemic problems? It seems so lame to whip people up and then say "write your congressman." I have. I do. He's liberal.

by Anonymousreply 9006/05/2021

[quote] Also, how about a program on solutions communities have come up to deal with systemic problems?

With MSNBC (and CNN and most of the other news outlets), it's a constant barrage of "the Republicans are destroying America" and "racism is destroying America," which is very true, but no discussion of what anyone other than members of Congress should do about it. No discussion of real people or real programs in real communities that are making a difference. No focus on potential solutions other than the latest bills before Congress. A steady diet of MSNBC would convince you there are only three types of people who live in the U.S.: the president, the members of Congress, and political pundits.

by Anonymousreply 9106/05/2021

Anyone who’s on a steady diet of MSNBC these days is a masochist. I can barely make it through one hour.

[quote] Details [R97]! What was the discussion about?

MY retelling won't do it justice, I looked for a video clip but couldn't find one maybe there will be one up tomorrow, Matthew Dowd was going on about how to flip Joe Manchin on the voting rights bill and the filibuster. I am paraphrasing here, Jake Sherman basically told him he was nuts, Machin had said he wasn't changing his mind had repeatedly said he wouldn't and Jake said that anyone who thought differently didn't know what they were talking about. All the the time Jake was going on about this Claire McCaskill was shaking her head in agreement and when they went to Claire again she said Jake is right. Nicolle didn't go back to Matthew Dowd to allow him to try to refute what Jake had said.

by Anonymousreply 10906/07/2021

Matthew Dowd was the chief strategist for bush’s reelection campaign. It’s pathetic that msnbc has become the network of former bush staffers lecturing all of us. No wonder their ratings are in the toilet

Trust me, you don't want to go down in Matthew Dowd's root cellar.

by Anonymousreply 11106/08/2021

So I see Joe and Mika are back in their Florida home studio after only one week in New York MSNBC studio. As much as I enjoy the show and its guests, these two are such phonies. I am so tired of him talking about his hillbilly bigoted friends and family idolizing Trump and how concerned he is about their views, Move on and accept the fact you are a product of white supremacists and it is up to him to rise above the bigotry. I will say that Mika at times has basically said some of his family is not welcome in their home if she has anything to say about it.

A scary but important report from Rachel.

by Anonymousreply 12506/08/2021

Rachel truly was on fire in that segment, r125, but you're putting words in her mouth. She only strongly implied all that :) But I believe it. I'd even go so far as to suggest Garland's being influenced by Trump as we live and breathe. After all, Trump never had anything against the guy.

Nicolle has been cackling and laughing out loud at inappropriate moments all week. She treats subjects that affect her personally (e.g. motherhood and the plight of the professional woman) with utmost solemnity, everyone else's travails not so much. I used to ascribe it to a nervous tic, but now I think it's straight white female republican indifference.

Sorry, MSNBC, but I find myself getting better acquainted with the CNN lineup lately.

by Anonymousreply 14506/10/2021

[quote] Rachel opens with saying she once again is throwing out her pre-planned show given the news about Trump DOJ spying on Schiff breaking tonight

You'd think by now Rachel would understand how TV news works. News happens, and news shows adjust to incorporate the breaking news. That's how it's worked on every news show since the early days of TV. Imagine if Walter Cronkite had begun one of his newscasts by saying, "There's been a lot of news today, so we had to revise our scripts several times."

by Anonymousreply 14606/10/2021

You would think R146. She is so scripted that she has a huge problem when she had to go ad hoc.

by Anonymousreply 14706/10/2021

^^ and yet she does it successfully each time ^^

by Anonymousreply 14806/10/2021

The problem is that they're obviously getting a memo of the issues to flog for the day and they recycle the same guests. Boring. Same old shit. It's really irritating to hear nonentities like Ali Vitale adopt a worldly air and spit out whatever the conventional wisdom is about some stupid who's up, who's down controversy. They need better correspondents, more variety, deeper reporting and to spend more money.. I used to have it on all day and now I don't go near it.

by Anonymousreply 14906/10/2021

Indeed, R148, and it amazes me how quickly she and her team are able to pivot.

R146 and R147, Rachel is not the only one who points out how breaking news of the day has altered/supplanted their planned program; and comparing her show to Walter Cronkite's (or anyone's) nightly news broadcast is a perfect example of the apples/oranges idiom.

by Anonymousreply 15006/10/2021

[quote] Rachel is not the only one who points out how breaking news of the day has altered/supplanted their planned program

Who else does it?

And why does Rachel feel the need to do it all the time? Is it because she wants our sympathy ("OMG! Poor Rachel had to scrap everything because of breaking news"). Or is it as an excuse in case the show goes poorly ("That wasn't a very good show tonight, but I can understand because poor Rachel had to scrap everything for breaking news.").

[quote] it amazes me how quickly she and her team are able to pivot.'

Yes, they do a fine job pivoting, but IT'S THEIR JOB. If you want to work in TV news, you need to be able to pivot when there's actual news. Reporters, editors and anchors at countless other news organizations across the country do it every single day. There's nothing special or heroic about Rachel.

by Anonymousreply 15106/10/2021

Jason Johnson is so angry, he's a pressure cooker ready to explode. He's completely consumed with race, even though he's a successful black man. He and Joy are going to run MSNBC into the ground. The non-stop shrieking about race is tedious and exhausting.

They've got to get some different talking heads. And Morning Joe would be better sans Joe. I'd prefer Willie and Mika to run it full time. Better yet, give Willie a prime time show.

by Anonymousreply 15206/10/2021

And what was the story that got bumped to the B Block? A long play on language to illustrate how Biden’s trip didn’t go as planned. I suppose she might have gotten to the large and important issues facing Biden in Europe, but she lost me before that might have happened.

by Anonymousreply 15306/10/2021

[quote]He's completely consumed with race, even though he's a successful black man.

You can't be serious, R152.

by Anonymousreply 15406/10/2021

Jason Johnson concealed some of his anger to become a regular at MSNBC but now it's oozing out of him. If you can predict what someone is going to say before they say it, why listen to them? He's good buddies with Tiffany Cross and they seem to be in the same place--we had to fight for everything we've gotten while everything is handed to these white mediocrities. They're both kind of damaged people. and I don't know enough about them to speculate why but they seem to have no lives apart on-screen punditry.

I had a horrible homelife and learned a long time ago--you may have a just grievance and a valid reason to be angry but that's not going to draw people to you or justify your acting like an asshole. If I say it's unpleasant to listen to his rage, I'm merely confirming what he already thinks aboutl white people. We all suck. (Read his twitter feed.)

Ali Velshi is one angry guy, too. A friend had a very unpleasant email exchange with him. An incredible talent, tho.

Shaquille Brewster, is a living doll.

by Anonymousreply 15506/10/2021

At least Velshi does have the ability to explain and teach about complex matters like economics, which is not easy for viewers to find on TV news shows. I've never learned anything from Johnson except that he's pissed off again today.

by Anonymousreply 15606/10/2021

[quote]Or is it as an excuse in case the show goes poorly

But it doesn't

by Anonymousreply 15706/11/2021

That's why I like Stephanie. I actually DO get smarter.

by Anonymousreply 15806/11/2021

Was Joe "on fire" this morning?

I actually can't tell when Joe is "on fire" or "frothing at the mouth" when he goes on his rants.

He seems bi-polar.

by Anonymousreply 15906/11/2021

Rachel actually had to have TWO guests on the first 20 minutes (Schiff and the NYT reporter) to focus on the DOJ surveillance of Schiff and Swalwell. She's happiest spending that time alone reading out transcripts of newsworthy events that we already read 6 hours before.

by Anonymousreply 16006/11/2021

That's why people get bored with Rachel, R160.

She is an academic and a "policy wonk."

What bores other people to death, is the sort of thing that she likes.

Her producers have to find a way to change her personal style into something more palatable for the general public.

by Anonymousreply 16106/11/2021

I have to add that my dad is the straightest of straight men, and he absolutely loves Rachel Maddow.

He calls her "my girl." As in, "there's my girl!"

She would probably hate it and call him misogynistic, but I truly think he means it in the most flattering way that an old-school straight guy could possibly mean it.

It's actually a huge compliment.

by Anonymousreply 16206/11/2021

[quote] I have to add that my dad is the straightest of straight men

Or so he would have you believe.

by Anonymousreply 16306/11/2021

Straight men can love lesbians, R163.

I'm not even sure if he realizes that Rachel is a lesbian... lol.

by Anonymousreply 16406/11/2021

"Rachel actually had to have TWO guests on the first 20 minutes (Schiff and the NYT reporter) "

Of course, Michael Schmidt isn't just any old NYT reporter, he's Nicolle Wallace's (much younger) lover.

I love Rachel. She has topics that stick. I want to know what the Agriculture Dept scientists are doing now that Biden is prez. Did they return to DC?

And has it ever been disclosed what ban was being fined for not providing Trump money laundering info?

by Anonymousreply 16606/11/2021

When shit is going on her viewership spikes because many don't read and she's still one of the best at explaining stuff. Then it's back to the regular diet of in-the-weeds lower profile stories, which can be a slog for both the informed as well as the uninterested. Still I think her advocacy is valuable, and spotlighting important news that might otherwise get lost.

by Anonymousreply 16706/11/2021

Joy has Jason Johnson on, and he's angry and yelling.

by Anonymousreply 16906/11/2021

r169, what else is new. Truly a bossy bottom.

by Anonymousreply 17006/11/2021

The return of Chris Matthews (as a guest pundit)!

by Anonymousreply 17106/11/2021

R171 - I like Chris Matthews and am glad he's at least making the rounds hawking his book. I really enjoyed Hard Ball and miss the high pressure atmosphere of his former show even though he could be annoying. He is a bottomless well of political knowledge and explains things in such a way that even a novice like me has learned a great deal. I do hope he continues to appear on MSNBC beyond peddling his latest book. Joy had him on the other evening and it was a treat to watch him.

by Anonymousreply 172Last Saturday at 9:55 AM

There's a lot less saliva flying around MSNBC now that Matthews is retired.

by Anonymousreply 173Last Saturday at 10:11 AM

Rofl. His show was called Hardball.

What you're talking about, is something completely different!

by Anonymousreply 174Last Saturday at 11:02 AM

Joy owes Chris big.

Michael Schmidt looks like he started working out and got buff since dating Nicolle.

Biden’s Press Conference in Europe...looking very good, looking coherent, looking Presidential. 👍🏾

I've been waiting for Brian Sims' appearance on Jonathan Capeheart today but 1 hour and 15 minutes later, not yet.

by Anonymousreply 178Last Sunday at 7:16 AM

I love Alex Witt on the weekends. She has such a calming and positive energy about her. So much better than Thomas Roberts, who gave off such a nervous and negative energy that I could feel it through my TV screen.

She is looking like a cat face.

I'm guessing that bitter queen hasn't been fucked in over two decades.

No wonder she's so angry!

by Anonymousreply 181Last Sunday at 10:41 AM

So now Yasmin Vessoughian has a show called "Yasmin Vessoughian Reports."

Very saavy. Very VERY saavy.

She's positioning herself to take the place of "Andrea Mitchell Reports," when Andrea Mitchell is inevitably taken off the air.

I guess it wouldn't hurt. They both have the same personality, except that Andrea seems much nicer.

by Anonymousreply 182Last Sunday at 10:43 AM

[quote] So now Yasmin Vessoughian has a show called "Yasmin Vessoughian Reports."

It's not a new or special show. They now do that with all of the news anchors (the ones who are more news readers, as opposed to the opinionated prime time "personalities.")

There's "Alex Witt Reports," "Stephanie Ruhle Reports," "Hallie Jackson Reports," "Craig Melvin Reports," "Katy Tur Reports," etc. That's their new branding. (I think they used to just call it "MSNBC Live.")

by Anonymousreply 183Last Sunday at 10:50 AM

Ah, thanks R183.

Never knew that.

Just thought that Yasmin was being thirsty.

by Anonymousreply 188Last Sunday at 12:46 PM

Didn't Andrea have that stumbling style even as a young reporter?

by Anonymousreply 189Last Sunday at 3:30 PM

R189 No and she was among the best.

by Anonymousreply 190Last Sunday at 4:10 PM

I don't know why you all have such a problem with Andrea.

I think she does a very fine job.

by Anonymousreply 191Last Sunday at 7:13 PM

Which MSNBC anchors DON'T they have a problem with on this thread? Stephanie Ruhle seems to get the least hate though she doesn't necessarily get a lot of love.

by Anonymousreply 192Last Sunday at 7:16 PM

R192 the younger straight white males are the only ones the chronic complainers here seem to worship. Truly bizarre but you know there's sadly a lot of misogyny and racism as well as self-hating homophobia on this board

I'm so disappointed in Keir Simmons.

Interviewing Putin, and giving that lying, murderous thief a platform.

smh.

by Anonymousreply 197Last Monday at 11:42 AM

R197, I don't view it as giving Putin a platform, since he's already got that -- he's hardly an obscure figure worldwide. I see it as giving him enough rope to hang himself, which he did -- evasive to a fault, obviously insincere liar. Seeing and hearing him left no doubt (if anyone has been wondering) what kind of man he is and where he stands.

by Anonymousreply 198Last Monday at 11:50 AM

Putin's interview makes Trump look worse

but it also is a guaranteed ratings win for NBC

[quote] Mike Schmidt and Jeremy Bash look slimmer in the face. Nicole's studio lighting washes her out.

Jeremy has clearly shed a few. He's also gotten some new lighting that he's been experimenting with - each appearance it's been noticeably different. He still never fails to give his best Blue Steel to camera when waiting to be introduced or asked to speak. Very very knowledgeable guy, but that pose is almost comical.

R203 Nicole's hair is atrocious. She is too lazy to even get her roots done on the regular. She needs to go with a darker shade that requires less upkeep. Her studio lighting makes her look exhausted too. She's become so repetitive, I don't watch her that often anymore.

by Anonymousreply 26513 hours ago

You guys are reading too much into Claire's filling in. I suspect it's summer and everyone wants off to go on vacations. Since she's an early riser, maybe she is going to fill in for Kasie Hunt when she needs off. I doubt there is any motivation on Claire's part to do a full time show.
