Tobacco Smokers

I hate all of you.

You’re murdering others with your disgusting habit. You’re polluting the planet as well.

by Anonymousreply 203June 6, 2021 8:58 PM

Op = prisspot

by Anonymousreply 1May 31, 2021 10:24 AM

Smokers are selfish and they smell gross.

by Anonymousreply 2May 31, 2021 10:26 AM

What has set off your anti-smoking rant OP?

by Anonymousreply 3May 31, 2021 10:28 AM

Not a habit OP. It is an addiction, no different than heroin and they need rehab.

by Anonymousreply 4May 31, 2021 10:33 AM

Not anymore than you OP. As long as it's not near you, mind your own business. Go blow a muffler, then you come back and talk about "pollution" from cigarette smoke 🙄 Or maybe talk to your local governments dumping our sewage in the fresh water. Or talk to Japan about dumping nuclear waste in the ocean. Or maybe talk to Florida sugar companies ruining the Everglades -- but sure, it's the minority of smokers out there, right?

by Anonymousreply 5May 31, 2021 10:56 AM

Agreed. Especially the ones who walk and smoking blowing their smoke in every ones faces. Assholes.

by Anonymousreply 6May 31, 2021 11:02 AM

R5 = whataboutism smoker asshole

by Anonymousreply 7May 31, 2021 11:03 AM

OP, I’ll have you know my great-grandfather lived to be 102 years old.

by Anonymousreply 8May 31, 2021 11:03 AM

Don't come to Europe, OP. Everybody here smokes.

by Anonymousreply 9May 31, 2021 11:05 AM

OP sounds angry. Have a cigarette and calm down.

by Anonymousreply 10May 31, 2021 2:40 PM

I've noticed when smokers have a designated area, non-smokers complain and try to get rid of it too. When they huddle in their own corner, there's always someone who'll walk over and complain about the smoke because they want to hang with the smokers where the conversation is never as dull and boring as with the non-smoking crowd.

I can confirm this, as a non-smoker who loves being around smokers.

by Anonymousreply 11May 31, 2021 3:17 PM

Bullshit R9 on average 35% of the adult population in the EU are nicotine addicts, hardly everyone and they will soon die so they will be fewer.

by Anonymousreply 12May 31, 2021 4:43 PM

I will start smoking just to annoy OP who is an angry, sanctimonious turd.

by Anonymousreply 13May 31, 2021 4:47 PM

If you live in an apartment, having someone right below you who smokes is a miserable experience. It’s like another pollutant coming in regularly, needlessly shortening your life.

It’s sad that people in multifamily housing have to be affected by smoking, whereas people in standalone homes don’t. Kind of an equity issue.

by Anonymousreply 14May 31, 2021 5:12 PM

Where the hell do you live that the walls are so paper-thin you can smell cigarette smoke from a neighbor?!

And don’t say NYC because that’s bullshit.

I live in Rome, Italy. I've seen 13 and 14-year-old girls light up while waiting for their parents to pick them up from school, like it's a lollipop. I've been out with people who lit up because "everybody else is". And Paris is much worse.

If they need a nicotine fix, they could wear a patch. Or chew tobacco. But no. They INSIST on polluting the air.

Leave tobacco legal. Just outlaw smoking it.

by Anonymousreply 25May 31, 2021 7:25 PM

I wonder if the increasing nastiness, divisiveness and intolerance in our society is a reflection of the extreme clamp-down on cigarette smoking by the the anti-smoking Nazi's. I'm not sure there isn't an attitudinal, mental health and behavioral downside as they have become to feel more "empowered" to control others behaviors. My question is..... where and when will they stop or will they continue until we lose all of our individual freedom of choice for the benefit of society and "the children"?

by Anonymousreply 26May 31, 2021 7:29 PM

R26, there are excessive externalities to smoking near others that no one can control. Therefore, it’s reasonable to have smokers smoke far from those who’d be negatively affected (in scientifically proven manners) by those externalities.

A minority should not impose their externalities on an unconsenting majority.

Smokers are weak, self absorbed people with anger issues. They claim that smoking keeps them "sane" when in reality, they just don't want to do the real work on themselves to figure out why they are so angry. Same goes for alcoholics and drug users. Weak people who wish to escape from reality and lack the ability to have true intimacy in their relationships. I actually pity them.

by Anonymousreply 53May 31, 2021 11:06 PM

R26 makes an interesting sociological point. He isn't saying that the desire to control others is the only factor at work. He's saying that the cloak of moral superiority that anti-smoking efforts have given Joe Public may have opened the mile-wide streak of busybodyness that we now have in our society.

by Anonymousreply 54June 1, 2021 12:03 AM

[quote]"...may have..."

That's so entirely broad as to make your statement entirely useless.

by Anonymousreply 55June 1, 2021 12:05 AM

Smoking tobacco is an ancient practice that is not inherently dirty or harmful. Unprocessed, natural tobacco is not full of sugars and surfactants the way commercial cigarettes are so it's not sticky and clingy and disgusting. That nasty, seep-into-the-walls quality of cigarettes comes from burning sugars, which basically makes caramel smoke.

In regards to health, there was just a study published in the UK that found that vegetarians who drink and smoke are healthier than meat eaters who don't. Basically meat primes your body for cancer, inflammation, heart disease, etc and then minor vices like smoking will tip you over the edge.

The cigarette industry is evil and nasty, but you shouldn't throw out the baby with the bathwater. Tobacco is a beautiful, useful plant- a gift to humanity in fact.

I hate that I smoke but always wondered how come we smell trashy and have to constantly wash. I remember my grandfather I mentioned on another thread as being a dandy born in 1919 and how he smoked non-filters through an ivory cigarette holder, wore a silk smoking jacket and perfume that worked with the smell of the tobacco. House was impeccable and smelled of fresh flowers. Never stank...he would hug me and I don't remember the rank smell I wash off. Are we literally a degenerate generation in terms of our glands?

Funny you should mention perfume R75! Natural perfumery is one of my hobbies and I have a personal fragrance based on the scents of figs, honey, fresh pipe tobacco, and orange blossoms. It's a great scent and works well with the natural, unprocessed tobacco that I smoke.

by Anonymousreply 79June 1, 2021 2:18 PM

A little bit of tobacco smell (NOT commercial cigarette) is very manly and appealing. I get compliments from people all the time who are like you smell great what is that?

by Anonymousreply 80June 1, 2021 2:20 PM

R79 and R80 - I totally agree. I smelled tobacco leaves a few years ago and thought of my grandfather and then, I kind of felt weird, because I feel like a lot of younger guys smell like soap and milk. It's pretty disconcerting. I guess that as R79 says, natural smells are better than commercial ones that take the flavor out of everything. I used to hate lamb but my late partner convinced me to try Armenian food with him and he would say "lamb should smell, food should smell ...everything we eat is overly processed and sanitized". Jeanne Calment died at the age of 127. Her doctor forced her to stop smoking - not for her health, but because she was going blind and he was afraid she'd set fire to the nursing home - when she was 112 and would only allow her a cigarette to celebrate her birthday. She also drank half a bottle of wine a day, she loved rich foods, sweets, candy, desserts. When asked the secret to her longevity she said she's never had to have a job.

So start bitching about people who work, OP.

by Anonymousreply 97June 3, 2021 5:37 AM

Smokers are so consistently belligerent because they know their addiction is both disgusting and anti-social. If they admitted how obnoxious their smoking behavior is, they would have to quit smoking. No other course of action could follow that acceptance.

So they fight back. Just as with any other addiction. As in, "I don't have drinking problem." Sure, Jan.

by Anonymousreply 100June 3, 2021 1:00 PM

I think smoke is far more reaching than we realize. I haven't smoked in 14 years but for the past 9 months there are times I desperately want a cigarette and I couldn't figure out why. I then realized that the people that live on either side of my house smoke and only do it outside. I am outside quite a bit gardening and believe that is what is giving me the urge again. I have even had a few times where I was doing something and thought I think I'll go have a cigarette and then remember that I don't smoke. So I am sure the smoke permeates the walls in a building.

If it is - grow the fuck up. EVERY ONE of us does something stupid/not healthy for us in awhile. Maybe we slept around, eat bad food, like drinking, etc. and guess what- every single bad activity we do has a negative consequence from a public health perspective (even those assholes who chose not to wear masks in Covid count). I don’t smoke, but I am not going to condemn others because they choose to do something I disagree with. That doesn’t change anything or help anyone!

I am so sorry smoking bothers you OP, but complaining on an anonymous chat bored and threatening to stone smokers just makes you a little bitch. Actually try to do something to change things for the better than making bullshit assumptions.

by Anonymousreply 105June 3, 2021 3:07 PM

As a former smoker, who indeed misses smoking, I will admit that ex-smokers are the worst offenders of complaining about smokers.

by Anonymousreply 106June 3, 2021 4:03 PM

My parents smoked like chimneys - in the house, in the car, everywhere. My sisters and I are all in our 70s and in perfect health - no respiratory issues, no cancer, nothing.

So smoking will hurt the smoker's health but it's absolute bullshit that second-hand smoke'll hurt or kill you.

by Anonymousreply 107June 3, 2021 4:11 PM

r107 my parents and aunts and uncles are the same. None of them have ever smoked, but my grandparents smoked like chimneys in the house (as everybody did back then) but none of them have ever had any health issues.

I do think the dangers of secondhand smoke are exaggerated. Half the people from the Greatest Generation and the Boomer Generation would've died from it, if it had been so dangerous.

Many smokers can not use nicotine gum or patches because it spikes blood pressure to a very dangerous level. The nonsmokers do not want to inhale second hand smoke. That is very fair as it most certainly affects their health. However, they seem to be militant and uncompromising about smoking. They have no right to forbid smokers from lighting up in general. They have no right to tell anyone what the hell they can do in the privacy of their homes and vehicles, or outdoors as long as smokers are far away from them not to be affected. Many are just snotty, judgemental cunts who think they have to right to step on smokers rights. TO call them trash just says more about them than smokers and I would rather be around a smoker than those sanctimonious hypocrites who snort coke, eat and drink like pigs, ect. I knew a guy who worked for a US embassy. Nobody was allowed to smoke inside - of course - but they could smoke on the loading dock on the ground floor. Some woman consul whose office was on the 5th floor bitched that the smoke was annoying her despite the fact her window was never open because of the air-conditioning.

by Anonymousreply 130June 4, 2021 9:30 PM

[quote]TO call them trash just says more about them than smokers

When you burn trash what do you get? SMOKE!

by Anonymousreply 131June 4, 2021 9:55 PM

The thing about self righteous smokers who think they are not bothering anyone is that they fail to smell (pun intended) how much they REEK of smoke on their body and in their clothes and hair. Even if you just brushed your teeth, that shit is still coming out of your lungs. It's stronger than someone who just ate a lot of raw garlic. If you get in an elevator with someone who smokes you can tell. If you work in an office environment and have to sit next to a smoker it can be quite over powering. Someone who smokes in a car, hotel rooms, forget it, might as well use a gas mask.

Yet every smoker will claim they don't smell, they only smoke outside, bla, bla, bla. Well it's not working, You reek ladies. And before you say "what about cologne, body odor etc" this is not a "whataboutism" topic. It's about smokers.

by Anonymousreply 132June 4, 2021 10:07 PM

If there was no smoking, there would be no Pats.

R132 - your psychotherapist will see you now...

by Anonymousreply 134June 4, 2021 10:42 PM

I gave up smoking 7 years ago. I tried many times, but I guess I was really ready and it was easy. I understand I am lucky that it was easy. After I gave up smoking I was in the grocery store and a woman walked past me and the stench of cigarettes was unbearable. I never kidded myself thinking I didn't stink. What I was horrified, if that woman was an indication, is how badly I stunk.

by Anonymousreply 135June 4, 2021 11:06 PM

You're simply wrong R132. It's called selection bias. Obviously you don't smell the people who don't smell, so you have no idea how prevalent they are.

by Anonymousreply 136June 4, 2021 11:56 PM

I quit for about 10 years R135. It was easy, about like having the flu. I didn't miss it. I wasn't one of those people who flipped out when they smelled it again either. I literally had no emotional connection to it either positive or negative it was just something I used to do. I started up again after my divorce, but only after a lot of research on unprocessed tobacco opened up a new perspective for me.

Using whole, organic tobacco leaves is just a completely different world. It doesn't have any of the hundreds of nasty ingredients that cigarette companies treat their products with. It's not taxed like cigarettes either! I can also make my own blends this way, which is nice because I tend to like the lighter sweeter strains and cigarette companies all use a lot of heavy orientals in their mixes. I can also mix other flavorful herbs like raspberry leaves and mugwort as well. There's a company called Bear Blends that makes very tasty herbs mixes designed for smoking or for tea.

r128 go smoke your cancer pacifier and shut up. Of course we judge you. And you fucking stink.

by Anonymousreply 138June 5, 2021 12:16 AM

[quote]cancer pacifier

You mean meat?

by Anonymousreply 139June 5, 2021 12:34 AM

R138- Weighs 300 pounds and his house smells like his rancid fat farts.

by Anonymousreply 140June 5, 2021 12:38 AM

Wrong, r140. I don't even drink.

by Anonymousreply 141June 5, 2021 12:51 AM

R141- Didn't say you did, sigh.

by Anonymousreply 142June 5, 2021 1:04 AM

I don't smoke. But I want to know how smokers can stand a long haul flight without smoking? I would go crazy. Do you chew nicotine gum or stick patches on your body?

by Anonymousreply 143June 5, 2021 3:01 AM

You just deal with it r143. Nicotine gum helps. I can't drink alcohol on planes, if I did that I would probably be lighting up in the lavatory and they'd arrest me once we landed lol! If you're a smoker, it is impossible to drink alcohol without smoking.

by Anonymousreply 144June 5, 2021 3:10 AM

OF COURSE they have a right to get on your case R128. Your smoking raises EVERYONE'S INSURANCE rates, because the cost of caring for idiots like you who sooner or later have heart attacks, strokes, various cancers (including but not limited to lung-c) is ASTRONOMICAL.

So STFU.

by Anonymousreply 145June 5, 2021 3:19 AM

r145 lots of things are unhealthy, like fatty foods and alcohol. Fat people drive up insurance rates, and there are millions of them.

by Anonymousreply 146June 5, 2021 3:22 AM

Try to stay on topic R146. Of course those other things are unhealthy in excess, but we're talking about addiction, and R128 was trying to suggest no one has the right to speak out about it.

by Anonymousreply 147June 5, 2021 3:33 AM

r147 he was talking about how people have no right to tell smokers not to smoke in their own homes or away from non-smokers, which is reasonable. I don't tell fat people to stop stuffing their faces.

by Anonymousreply 148June 5, 2021 3:44 AM

Bette Davis was the ultimate addict -- totally in denial about her addiction. Here she tells Dick Cavett how she survived in Hollywood because she was physically strong, so she didn't need drugs like Garland, etc..

Nope. She wasn't a drug addict! She was so physically strong that despite being diagnosed with breast cancer, followed by FOUR strokes, she kept smoking 100 ciggies a day.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 149June 5, 2021 5:48 AM

That 100 ciggies a day thing was bullshit. Davis smoked a lot, but nowhere near that much. Most Hollywood people from that era smoked. And Davis still made it to her 80s.

by Anonymousreply 150June 5, 2021 5:51 AM

Losers smoke.

Sad, selfish losers.

by Anonymousreply 151June 5, 2021 9:49 AM

Hi eat your feelings again get over it. Smoking, obesity, fast food, either way everyone ends up in an ICU cardiac unit one day. The number one cause of death is heart failure. Shockingly, statistics now show that every single death for all of time has been because the heart eventually stopped. Get it? Live and let live. Worry about your own life and leave others to do the same. No one wants or needs your petty little judgement of them. No one gives a fuck what you think of them.

by Anonymousreply 152June 5, 2021 11:20 AM

I never understood the actual appeal to smoking. It's not glamorous unless you are 80 years old and grew up with movies portraying it that way. It's always been portrayed as a kind of dirty trashy habit for at least the last 30 years or so. And then the actual physical thing of it all. How can you actually enjoy smoke before you are addicted to it? It's not like alcohol where you CAN actually like the flavor the very first time.

by Anonymousreply 153June 5, 2021 11:22 AM

[quote]Worry about your own life and leave others to do the same.

The problem is, your life is affecting others. Someone who over eats is not impacting my life if I have to talk to them close up or ride in an elevator or work sitting right next to them. Its a false equivalency and justification to say oh well we all die of something.

by Anonymousreply 154June 5, 2021 11:25 AM

Smoking is very rock'n'roll. But rock'n'roll is dead

by Anonymousreply 155June 5, 2021 11:49 AM

Interesting that the title of this thread is "Tobacco Smokers." No one here really takes a hard stance against the "tobacco" part of the equation. It's the smoke that's the problem. It's invasive and unhealthy to others.

You can't burn your trash. You can't burn your leaves and yard clippings. And there is no justification for burning tobacco, either. Find another way to get your fix. Find a self-contained and non-invasive way to get your fix and then all the opprobrium disappears.

And until you do, don't throw another fucking cigarette butt onto the ground. Take it with you when you are done and discard it into a closed container. I'm so sick of seeing trashy people toss cigarette butts, or finding the damned things on the sidewalk. Jesus, smokers. This is why they hate you.

by Anonymousreply 157June 5, 2021 12:13 PM

by Anonymousreply 158June 5, 2021 12:24 PM

r158 I honestly can't tell if you're being facetious, but if not ... she was rather notorious and would post both anti-smoking and pro-smoking threads, iirc

It was definitely a single poster with an identifiable MO

by Anonymousreply 159June 5, 2021 12:50 PM

r154 where the hell are you exposed to secondhand smoke? It's been many years since that was an issue.

by Anonymousreply 160June 5, 2021 3:19 PM

In his defense, r160, a lot of porn shops don’t prohibit smoking, so as he’s whoring himself out at the gloryhole nightly, he gets exposed to the smoke.

(As well as other things.)

by Anonymousreply 161June 5, 2021 6:04 PM

Smoking might be gross and deadly, but it is undeniably cool.

by Anonymousreply 168June 5, 2021 6:56 PM

In the Exorcist, the doctor lights up a cigarette in the hospital hallway when he's talking to Ellen Burstyn. A real "WTF?" moment when you see it today.

Apologies for the formatting error. I don’t know why that happened.

by Anonymousreply 171June 5, 2021 7:26 PM

My mother was a nurse for many years. She said that back in the day when a patient was admitted to the hospital, the first thing they asked for was an ashtray as soon as they got to their room. She also said there was a drawer at the nurses' station that was full of matchbooks that were given to patients because they were always asking for matches too. If a smoking patient was admitted to a room where the other patient in the room was on oxygen, the patient would demand another room immediately because they couldn't smoke with oxygen in use. They would get REALLY pissed if another room wasn't available.

by Anonymousreply 172June 5, 2021 7:38 PM

R167 I like you too! Some loathe me, some block me — That's quite alright. Who needs popularity, anyway?

A friend of my father just shared the "devastating" news that he has only 2 years to go IF the chemotherapy and medications for his asphalted lungs will work their magic. At first I was sad, then I remembered he smokes like a chimney in winter.

I wonder how hardcore smokers feel once they've been diagnosed with COPD or lung cancer.

by Anonymousreply 174June 5, 2021 8:46 PM

Smoke up. Life is fucking short. People in my family have smoked packs a day, eating bacon and eggs every morning and drinking like a fish. Most go about 87-90 years old. I do not want to be any older than that. It’s how you are built

by Anonymousreply 175June 5, 2021 9:40 PM

^^^ Life seems short no matter how long you live. But wouldn’t you rather have a few more years than a few less? What is your answer by the time you’re old?

by Anonymousreply 176June 5, 2021 9:50 PM

. Life ain't short if you make it to your late 80s or 90s. That's long enough. Peace.

by Anonymousreply 177June 5, 2021 9:52 PM

"everyone ends up in an ICU cardiac unit one day"

LOL no they do not you fool.

Smokers eventually suffocate and/or drown in their own phlegm while gasping for air, but if that sounds like a great way to go, go right ahead and smoke up.

by Anonymousreply 178June 5, 2021 10:27 PM

R119 - don't start. Millions lose weight and don't smoke. Take if from a smoker...this is one disease that you do not escape. When I have stopped, I had dreams (I usually don't have them) and I dreamed of smoking. Trust me. Don't even go there.

by Anonymousreply 179June 5, 2021 10:30 PM

r179 I stopped smoking ten years ago and every once in a while I still have a smoking dream.

by Anonymousreply 180June 5, 2021 10:33 PM

R180 - how did you stop?

by Anonymousreply 181June 5, 2021 10:35 PM

It's so weird to me that people get addicted to smoking. When I was in my twenties, I'd go out with friends for drinks and I would sometimes smoke if someone offered me a cigarette but it would instantly make me feel sick. I never felt like it was something I had to have more of. Could take it or leave it. So if it's addicting, why isn't it addicting for everyone? Truth is, it's a habit, nothing more. It has to be otherwise, how can you explain my having smoked in the past but not becoming addicted?

I'm the same way with alcohol. Most of it tastes like shit and it totally fucks up the way my body feels when I drink it. I can have a drink once or twice a year and I'm ok if I never drink again, to be honest. I really don't understand alcoholics or smokers. You're the only person buying yourself these things and you're doing it willingly. It's just sad.

by Anonymousreply 182June 5, 2021 10:38 PM

“I wonder how hardcore smokers feel once they've been diagnosed with COPD or lung cancer.”

Wonder how hardcore sluts feel once they got diagnosed with AIDS?

by Anonymousreply 183June 5, 2021 10:40 PM

r181 I stopped drinking and using coke about two months before and started to take a walk everyday (and eat less ... I was a mess.) Both booze and blow were huge triggers; although I smoked daily, when I was drunk/high, I really, really smoked. And I was drunk, at least, nearly every night.

One day, after two months of sobriety, I realized it was 4PM and I hadn't smoked a single cigarette that day. I thought, "If I'm going to quit, it needs to be now."

The first 72 hours were the worst. And it may sound stupid, but I knew if I told myself, "This is going to be so hard," I would fail -- I would be giving myself an out. "Well, it's just too hard." So I somehow convinced myself, "Quitting smoking is easy."

It worked for me, but I think everyone is a bit different.

Good luck.

by Anonymousreply 184June 5, 2021 10:46 PM

Black lungs, yellow teeth, ashtray breath, premature wrinkles...how glamorous.

by Anonymousreply 185June 5, 2021 10:53 PM

[quote] So if it's addicting, why isn't it addicting for everyone?

You really aren’t that stupid, are you?

by Anonymousreply 186June 5, 2021 10:59 PM

[quote] So I somehow convinced myself, "Quitting smoking is easy."

It is. I’ve quit hundreds of times.

by Anonymousreply 187June 5, 2021 11:00 PM

R185 I would put my skin and breath against yours any day. I'm a vegetarian, don't drink, do yoga regularly, and actively maintain my microbiome. One minor vice is not difficult to counter with proper hygiene.

by Anonymousreply 188June 5, 2021 11:32 PM

R188 - your posts are so intriguing. I just read some of the brain, skin and gut axis stuff. I got some pro-biotics and they helped me so much. I am dying to go back to non-alcohol and my vinyasa yoga routine. My whole digestion was different. I ate meat if I went out with pals and there were no veggie options but tried to reduce it to once a week. Any more stuff I should read?

by Anonymousreply 189June 5, 2021 11:35 PM

It's a serious question r186 or maybe you can't answer because you are in denial that it's a fucking habit.

by Anonymousreply 190June 5, 2021 11:52 PM

Next step, R189, would be to look into supplements: Nootropics, ayurvedic adaptagens (google "triphala fruit fly studies"), and especially high does iodine supplementation.

The pro-smoking libertarians here never learned about externalities.

by Anonymousreply 193June 6, 2021 2:03 AM

R175, nothin' wrong with eggs. The notion that cholesterol causes heart disease has been disproven for decades.

by Anonymousreply 194June 6, 2021 4:29 AM

R175, the *main* issue isn’t whether it kills the smokers. The main issue is that the smoke affects those who don’t smoke.

I pretty much don’t care if someone smokes if it affects no one else. But the moment another person inhales some of the smoke, not having consented to it, that’s wrong.

Plus there’s the litter issue. It poisons the oceans, etc.

So when people say “a man should be able to smoke in his own home”, as long as that smoke doesn’t drift into another person’s home, and he doesn’t flick his butts out the window, there’s no problem.

That so many here can’t see that it’s not really about the smoker smoking, but rather it’s about those unwillingly affected by it, pretty much shows just how selfish smokers and their libertarian fans are.

by Anonymousreply 195June 6, 2021 5:07 AM

It’s like homeless people shitting on the street in SF. Why can’t they be free to do it? Defacating is even more fundamental to life than smoking, after all. Isn’t restricting where people can defacate imposing on their liberties, and their fundamental humanity?

We regulate it because of the externalities that result from shitting in the street.

by Anonymousreply 196June 6, 2021 5:11 AM

*That so many here can’t see that it’s not really about the how or whether the smoker himself is affected or not by his own smoking

by Anonymousreply 197June 6, 2021 5:16 AM

r195 secondhand smoke is no longer an issue. Get off your cross.

by Anonymousreply 198June 6, 2021 5:21 AM

Second hand smoke kills 600,000 people a year.

by Anonymousreply 199June 6, 2021 6:54 AM

Do you use plastics, R195? Because if so you are directly for the second hand micro particles invading our foodchain and bodies. Do you take any medications? Because you are pissing those into the water supply too. Everyone contributes to tragedies of the commons.

by Anonymousreply 200June 6, 2021 8:13 AM

Smokers always try to justify their addictions with far-fetched whataboutisms.

That's the addiction talking — tricking you into believing your dependence on tar and tobacco is something worth defending.

by Anonymousreply 201June 6, 2021 8:47 AM

[quote] But wouldn’t you rather have a few more years than a few less? What is your answer by the time you’re old?

I don’t think one’s final years are the best of many people’s lives.

The question would make more sense if it were about losing some years in your 20s or 30s.

by Anonymousreply 202June 6, 2021 2:52 PM
