Adrian Grenier Opens Up About Leaving Hollywood Life to Move to Texas Farm: 'I Want More Now'

Adrian Grenier is loving life on his farm.

In the June issue of Austin Life Magazine, the Entourage star, 44, opened up about his decision to leave Hollywood life behind in favor of living on a farm about 45 minutes outside of Austin, Texas.

"I bought a place in Austin five years ago and a year ago I decided to move here permanently," he told the publication. "I had friends here, I ran a business here, and liked the pace. Austin is cosmopolitan without being snooty; it's earthy. People are smart and successful but they don't flaunt it. There is nothing to prove, people accept you and it felt good right away."

Explaining what inspired the move, the co-founder of investing company DuContra Ventures said that his ideals didn't seem to match the life he was actually living.

"I have been doing environmental work for the last 20 years, I've started organizations and run non-profits, all designed to tell people to live more in line with nature – and yet, I wasn't living that way," he said. "In many ways, I reached the apex of that promise – if you work hard, you become famous, then you make a lot of money… but it was lackluster at the top."

However, Grenier is quick to point out that he doesn't regret the way he used to live his life back in L.A.

"It was a f-- load of fun, and amazing while it lasted. I'm not disparaging that stage of my development when I could go deep into my total abject debauchery," he said. "But look at nature! Nature will tell you things eventually have to come down to earth, and I found myself in a stage of my life where I had to change."

"I had to deal with the personal things I'd been avoiding," he added. "I started to shed some of the things I'd accumulated, I Marie Kondo'd my life and embraced letting go."

As for his plans for the land, Grenier said he's already "planted a fruit forest" and hopes to get his "pond back into balance so we can fish from it."

He also plans to "create a wildlife sanctuary" and have "llamas or alpacas, maybe some goats - not for a livestock operation but to keep the grass down."

Although the move has been a big change, Grenier said he wouldn't ever want to go back.

"I don't miss anything about that world. Listen, if you go on Instagram long enough, you're going to find some FOMO somewhere, but everyone is just pretending they're living their best life," he said. "Ultimately, I know that I am, so I don't even tell anybody about it."

Grenier starred on Entourage from 2004 to 2011 alongside Kevin Connolly (Eric "E" Murphy), Kevin Dillon (Johnny "Drama" Chase), Jerry Ferrara (Salvatore "Turtle" Assante) and Jeremy Piven (Ari Gold). During its eight-season run, the HBO dramedy accumulated multiple Emmy wins and Golden Globes nominations.

After the series left the air in 2011, the cast reprised their roles in a movie aptly titled Entourage in 2015.

Currently, the environmentalist appears on the new discovery+/NowThis Earth series Action Planet to discuss his Lonely Whale organization. His nonprofit aims to eliminate the flow of plastic into the ocean.

You're right, Adrian. Your acting career was going nowhere.

Maybe he can work on McBongo's election campaign.

He’s not gay, i worked for a production company that worked on his ill fated lonely whale documentary. He’s obnoxious, entitled, better than you (he will tell you all the reasons why) and he infantilizad his young girlfriends. There was always a different one. I saw him yell and tear down one of them fur buying the wrong dog food.

by Anonymousreply 6May 30, 2021 2:51 PM

Who?

by Anonymousreply 7May 30, 2021 2:56 PM

I swear it was on DL some years back that it is rumored he has a very stinky, smegma-filled peepee. Never saw him the same since. Yucko. And I'm someone who loves uncut weiners...clean ones.

Some chick he fucked told everyone he stank to the high heavens. He was already rumored to have poor hygiene. He was raised by his Hippie mom, so hygiene was probably not stressed.

The People photo shoot is hilarious, especially the photo of him on a tractor.

Austin is earthy? Uh sure. Maybe 30 years ago. He really comes off as a tiresome douche.

by Anonymousreply 13May 30, 2021 3:17 PM

And in 10 years these same people running to Texas for “a better quality of life” will be bitching about how overpriced and crowded it’s become because so many people moved there all at once like sheep 🐑 and prices are going up at light speed.

by Anonymousreply 14May 30, 2021 3:20 PM

He looks apish to me and what R14 said. I was looking at moving to the Wimberly/Gruene area and the real estate is through the roof.

Austin is a liberal area R2.

by Anonymousreply 15May 30, 2021 3:23 PM

R6 Azealia Banks said he knew lyrics to her songs when she ran into him back in the early 2010s which made her think he was gay and that when she tried sucking him off, but now she says she thinks he's gay because she says sucking dick is one of the 3 things she knows how to do.

It's during that time she was on her stories saying she slept with Dave Chapelle

She says outrageous things for sure, but never lies! Everything she says is true and she doesn't care about protecting anyone. That time that Russell Crowe spat on her and called her n-word looks to be true too.

She talks about guys who are like that at 1:30 and then at the end she calls Adrian by name toward the end

by Anonymousreply 21May 30, 2021 3:47 PM

R18 you'd be surprised at the people she rubs elbows with. Grimes and Elon wanted her for a threesome. There are screenshots she took of her conversations with Grimes. She's been associated with Grimes before Elon

by Anonymousreply 22May 30, 2021 3:47 PM

Based on friends who've known him over the years, he's one of the smarter actors and never seemed all that into the Hollywood scene, very quirky in groups but great one on one.

I thought he was miscast in "Entourage" though--was hard to buy him as a Zac Efron-level heartthrob. I'd have done the guy who played E long before Grenier.

by Anonymousreply 23May 30, 2021 3:49 PM

[quote] He’s obnoxious, entitled, better than you (he will tell you all the reasons why) and he infantilizad his young girlfriends.

Reading the article, I had a feeling that he left Hollywood before a "James Franco" type of scandal came out about him.

Adrian was part of that "Entourage" douchebro crew, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if some stories about him with underaged girls leaked.

by Anonymousreply 24May 30, 2021 4:06 PM

I didn’t think any of the guys on Entourage were particularly attractive but out of all of them I suppose Vince was the best looking. Still it was kind of hard to buy him as a big box office, leading man type.

by Anonymousreply 25May 30, 2021 4:22 PM

Wasn’t it based on Leonardo DiCaprio and Marky Mark?

by Anonymousreply 26May 30, 2021 4:26 PM

Is a "fruit forest" an orchard?

by Anonymousreply 27May 30, 2021 4:27 PM

How did this guy ever get a TV show? He’s a shitty actor and not even remotely attractive. I think he only showed his ass once during the show. So how it stayed on for eight seasons is beyond me.

by Anonymousreply 28May 30, 2021 4:35 PM

It was wish fulfillment for dumb frat bros, r28: a group of ugly losers who thanks to their friend's unlikely success get to sit around in mansions all day, smoke weed and play video games, drives expensive sports cars and fuck all the best horny sluts. "SATC" gets a lot of hate on this site but it was a fucking masterwork compared to "Entourage."

by Anonymousreply 29May 30, 2021 4:43 PM

Everybody but he is pretending to live their best lives. Talk about arrogance.

by Anonymousreply 30May 30, 2021 4:45 PM

R28 - totally agree. He's one of those head-scratching Hollywood successes. I don't find him attractive or talented at all. His career was built on a douchebro show (Entourage).

Most people in Hollywood do not have long careers with decade after decade of continued success. It's very rare actually.

by Anonymousreply 31May 30, 2021 4:48 PM

R2, how is 40 pushing 50? And there is quite of bit of wealth in Texas.

R16, that chick is a known crazy.

I always thought he lived in Brooklyn. If he found a more meaningful life, good for him.

by Anonymousreply 32May 30, 2021 4:48 PM

What can I say - I think he's beautiful! Always have.

by Anonymousreply 33May 30, 2021 5:01 PM

He’s 45. That’s pushing 50.

by Anonymousreply 34May 30, 2021 5:24 PM

He sounds as insufferable as his Devil Wears Prada character. I always wanted AnnE H to give him a swift kick in the balls after saying a line like “I wouldn’t care if you were poll dancing if you would do it with some INTEGRITY.”

by Anonymousreply 54May 31, 2021 8:59 AM

I have never found him particularly attractive, but he definitely gets uglier as he gets older. Also, his cock looks small! Yuck.

by Anonymousreply 55May 31, 2021 9:26 AM

Farming - real farming - is hard work; if he can make a go of that, maybe he's not the daft, self important creature that he appears to be

by Anonymousreply 56May 31, 2021 9:42 AM

owning a farm...lots of tax breaks, right? I remember reading a report that lots of celebs owned farms for tax purposes...

by Anonymousreply 57May 31, 2021 9:53 AM

by Anonymousreply 58May 31, 2021 9:55 AM

I figured he "opened up" a lot in Hollywood

by Anonymousreply 59May 31, 2021 9:55 AM

Yes, farmers do get lots of tax breaks - so it's entirely possible that it's a place to hide his $$ for some reason

by Anonymousreply 60May 31, 2021 9:56 AM

You got to give it to him for his name alone though, it sounds like sex itself.

by Anonymousreply 61May 31, 2021 1:47 PM

I'll be generous and give him credit for realizing that his good thing is drawing to a close, the upward trajectory of income has probably flattened (to be kind again), and his estimated $12M goes only so far. Better to settle in some less expensive, less aggressive setting, but with enough celebrity buzz to not be in Siberia, where he can still be recognized but doesn't have to pretend that every lunch, every meeting is some great deal in the making, some comeback.

I would do the same, just not to Austin. I would drop off the map and live well in the Balearic Islands and travel. Rent a cottage in Hollywood on the short-term if doing or chasing after something there.

In any case, I'm always a tiny bit impressed when some celebrity without anything but a lot of luck behind their fame moves out of the celebrity grind and stops pushing and angling and dealing for the next thing every minute of the day. It's the opposite of so many who keep the signature hairstyle for 50 years past its prime, squeeze into Spanx to squeeze into clothes that look like clothes they were when they were famous in the 1980s, and generally suck dicks left and right like those Osmond ghouls or other has-beens who never were for a chance to get another embarrassing 20 seconds on Entertainment Tonight or TMZ.

by Anonymousreply 62May 31, 2021 4:25 PM

He was reduced to doing Hallmark movies. Hollywood had had sufficient.

by Anonymousreply 63May 31, 2021 5:11 PM

He’s finally exhausted all his money from those Geico caveman commercials.

by Anonymousreply 64May 31, 2021 6:18 PM

Anyone else think the term "hairy-butted" should always precede the name Adrian Grenier?

by Anonymousreply 65May 31, 2021 6:25 PM

Doesn't Dawson van der Creek and his creepy perpetually pregnant wife move to TX too?

by Anonymousreply 66May 31, 2021 7:06 PM

[quote] I think he only showed his ass once during the show. So how it stayed on for eight seasons is beyond me.

LOL. It wasn't aimed at gay men, it was aimed at straight guys which is why DLers hate it. SEE ALSO: Silicon Valley

It was a very well done show with a whole mess of sly digs at the whole Hollywood scene and a lot of industry insider adjacent jokes too--the whole bit about the guy who directed "Queens Boulevard" actually being from Scarsdale and the heir to a supermarket empire (Daddy was paying all the bills) and then reduced to directing porn was brilliant.

They did a great job of capturing life in a certain sliver of Los Angeles.

And the show was allegedly based on Mark Wahlberg and his hangers one. Or at least the premise was--blue collar guy makes it big, brings his buddies to LA with him. The Vince character was supposed to have been a bit savvier and less "Queens" than his buddies which was explained at some point, though I forget how.

Finally, Debi Mazar's Shauna character was brilliant too.

And I'd turn straight for Emmanuelle Chriqui

by Anonymousreply 67May 31, 2021 7:19 PM

Is it fair to say jeremy piven was the star of the show?

by Anonymousreply 68May 31, 2021 8:15 PM

R66 Van der Creep should have stuck to fucking Pacey.

by Anonymousreply 69May 31, 2021 8:25 PM

I’m sure in Jeremy Piven’s mind he was the star of the show despite what anyone else thought.

by Anonymousreply 70May 31, 2021 8:26 PM

He does look like one of his parents might have been a chimp.

by Anonymousreply 71May 31, 2021 8:29 PM

Maybe they could make Kirker's little shop their new hang-out.

Oh, wait...

by Anonymousreply 72May 31, 2021 8:30 PM

Piven's Ari Gold character definitely was the standout on the show, the "type" that is referenced long after the show has been off the air.

by Anonymousreply 73May 31, 2021 8:35 PM

Who did Piven piss off? He was everywhere for a hot minute and then nothing.

by Anonymousreply 74May 31, 2021 8:50 PM

R74 Ask about some sushi and Speed The Plow.

by Anonymousreply 75May 31, 2021 8:53 PM

I SWEAR to you Kevin Dillon looks exactly like a guy I saw on an Old Reliable video ! Sounded exactly like him too. He was very young too, late teens maybe. He was smoking a cigar on the OR video and one time on Entourage he was talking around a cigar in his mouth and I knew right then and there I was right. Havent been able to find that clip in years,I bet if it were him he scrubbed it. I always thought Grenier was hot in an offbeat way ,and still think he looks pretty good.

by Anonymousreply 76May 31, 2021 8:55 PM

I find it funny that he disses social media users using Instagram to show off and brag about living their best lives while he's doing the fucking same in a local magazine. Like that makes him so humble and down to earth.

by Anonymousreply 77May 31, 2021 9:05 PM

R77 This is just one of the many clues he gives that he is, and has always been, insufferable.

by Anonymousreply 78May 31, 2021 9:20 PM

R77 I find it ambiguous. Is he saying he is also pretending to live his best life like everyone else. Or everyone else is pretending to live their best life but he actually is living his best life. I’m not sure how to interpret it.

by Anonymousreply 79May 31, 2021 9:37 PM

by Anonymousreply 80May 31, 2021 10:03 PM

Marginally talented, wealthy pretty boy leaves Hollywood to buy residence outside Austin. Conveniently overlooks the sewer that is Texas politics and talks about environmental nonprofits. Acts as if he's done something remarkable but hasn't. Seems like only the megawealthy and currently hot stars stay in LA area. Everyone else leaves.

by Anonymousreply 81May 31, 2021 10:20 PM

If you want a state that cares about the environment texas is not it. As you'd expect republicunts makes sure regulations are none or as small as they can be.

by Anonymousreply 82May 31, 2021 11:06 PM

[quote] Who did Piven piss off? He was everywhere for a hot minute and then nothing.

Piven's career stalled for awhile after several women accused him of being a predator. He did some kind of Christmas movie last year and has IMDB credits for several upcoming projects for 2021 and later on.

by Anonymousreply 85June 1, 2021 1:27 AM

I think he sounds fine in the interview, and he certainly has more talent than Keanu Reeves who success is based on looks and sheer luck and a smidge of talent.

by Anonymousreply 86June 1, 2021 3:56 AM

R86 Reeves also played it right - as in, avoiding conspicuous fuckups and knowing when to just be quiet.

by Anonymousreply 87June 1, 2021 3:59 AM

by Anonymousreply 91June 1, 2021 5:52 AM

I'm not a fan but....

1) How do we know, for a fact, that's actually him in the jack off video?

2) He's oogy but it sounds like he's also self aware enough to realize his "top" career as an actor is probably done. He was super lucky and got Entourage but that and his very much a supporting role as a jerk in The Devil Wears Prada (where he's outshined by every other actor in the cast) are all he's known for and both those projects are 10 to 15 years old.

He's wise to start transitioning away from acting. He doesn't really have the right kind of look to segue into leading man roles on police procedural or ensemble drama/action shows. At best, he could be an interesting character actor as toadies and villains but that doesn't pay as well.

by Anonymousreply 92June 1, 2021 6:02 AM

Why give up the nice southern California weather for a dry, hot hell hole surrounded by crazy MAGA folks and insane real estate prices?

by Anonymousreply 100June 4, 2021 4:26 PM

Austin has a different vibe than the rest of Texas, and is overwhelmingly liberal. But local politics get sullied by what's happening at the state level.

R83 NM is beautiful. And yes, the cultural difference and vibes between NM and TX or even Arizona is really astonishing.

I figured out why Adrian Grenier doesn't do it for me. No muscles. Needs to bathe more. Need to consult Ari Melber on proper amount of stubble. Needs to be more interesting.

R106, no doubt you also think MTG and AOC are two sides of the same coin because that's how much benefit of the doubt you give to anyone white.

I've read LSA; that you think LSA is like Stormfront is downright psychotic. I've seen far more racial hate on here than homophobia over there.

Of course you have! Go there. Stay there.

R110, I've been on DL for over 20 years. Don't think I haven't seen the vile racism/bigotry on here that would make some DLers an admin over at Stormfront

Bye!

People always say they're moving on to something "better" or "more." Why can't he just say he wants to do something "different." He sounds insufferable.

IMO, if he could have the career of DiCaprio, etc., he'd continue playing this Hollywood game.

I’ve seen Grenier in person. His eyes are purplish—stunning

Yas kween. Stunning.

[quote] She says outrageous things for sure, but never lies!

I believe some of what Azealia Banks says, but not all. People want to believe it because it's titillating stuff. She always seems like she has an ax to grind.

She tried to suck his flaccid dick for 30 minutes? WTF? Homegirl is persistent.

by Anonymousreply 117June 4, 2021 10:27 PM

Why would she lay about this nobody? It's not like it will score headlines. She may be exaggerating how long she tried to blow him or omitting some conflict they had in the room or even drug use that affected the erection. But she is no way lying about the general theme.

by Anonymousreply 118June 4, 2021 10:36 PM

I kind of believe AB's story about Grenier, I'm saying I don't believe everything. I also just don't like it when someone is considered 100% credible. We all lie.

by Anonymousreply 119June 4, 2021 10:41 PM

She was also irritated that he wanted/needed some foreplay. WTF is wrong with this chick? Finally a guy who is offering some foreplay and doesn't want to fuck right away and this chick is complaining.
