Just finished Netflix's HALSTON series and the only question I have is

WHY was Ewen McGregor allowed to prance and mince as a complete stereotype? If this shit was done to any black or Asian person, or woman, there would be outrage. But because that vile queen Ryan Murphy produced it, I suppose it was alright. There was nothing to this tacky, network television-style of film but a one-dimensional depiction of a man who was, by all accounts much more complex than they were brave and professional enough to show. Instead, they just created a live-action cartoon of McGregor as a flouncy, mincing, cunty queen who holds and taps her cigarettes a'la Bette Davis. There was a time when the real LGBT community would have had GLAAD or HRC come out to condemn such things. But they're all about their Hollywood celebrities and wouldn't dare do that now. And there's no end of scenes showing Halston getting fucked up the ass by random guys. Because, you know, that's what ALL gay men do. All the time. Especially the creative ones.

And how the fuck does Ewen McGregor even have an acting career with those disturbing weird teeth of his? I've never understood the attraction to or appeal of this man as an actor with those weird, yellow teeth of his and the misalignment of the lower bite and protruding over-bite. He's just weird on all levels. And now, thanks to Ryan Murphy, he's being celebrated for creating just another stereotype of gay men. I'm so sick of this shit.

OP have you ever seen video of the real Halston? Ewan's portrayal was pretty accurate. He had the voice nailed.

Did Murphy take as many "artistic liberaties" with this one as he did with Versace?

If you haven't watched this I can sum up the plot in two words for you: AIDS, cocaine.

Shouldn't that be cocaine, AIDS?

I was disappointed in the Liza character. I wanted the sloppy, messy, giggly Liza. But what we got was a demure "voice of reason" Liza. Hell, even her "breakdown" from drugs was quite sanitized.

Ryan Murphy needs to do a Liza mini-series. Of course, as long as she's alive, she'll never allow something like that.

I liked seeing a normal Liza even if it was a sanitized version.

Ewan is hot, the movie was fun, Halston was exactly as depicted. Go to bed, OP.

Ewan was good, but too old to play the young Halston.

I thought ewan was so manly.
