I thought the teaser was good. It was fun to hear Kristen Bell's voice again. I was judging this based on the stills from filming, but now seeing that cast all polished up, the aesthetic, and hopefully a little HBO level raunch, this could be good. I'll definitely be watching.

The only sort of good looking guy is the white one in the middle in the group shot. The asian one is ugly and the guy apparently playing the Lonely Boy is way worse than Penn Badgley was. The original cast had only one not-that-handsome person and that was Ed Westwick. He was charming in other ways, though, and I'm sure these new guys are as well but I'm still reacting to the way they uglified the cast this time.

It reminds me of the Mass Effect Andromeda game where they deliberately made the main characters not traditionally beautiful or handsome, unlike the original trilogy which e.g. used a male supermodel as the model for the main character. I assume they were trying to make a statement by making the characters half-ugly but it just ended up annoying the hell out of me. I'm not handsome myself and I'd never want to watch something that had people like me in the main cast. There's a reason most stars are people with symmetrical faces, they just are so pleasant to look at. It's not real life and that's the point of Hollywood.

BTW, apparently the guys were practically all bisexual in the novels. I remember people being pissed they made Nate Archibald and Chuck Bass totally straight in the show.

The bald headed Serena or Blair is better looking than I thought all glammed up. I don't think I would even think about the latina chick being trans if it weren't being talked about. Maybe as the show goes on but not based on the teaser. The boys are beat looking, but the blasian is definitely a pretty boy. The girls are hotter than the boys where I think the reverse was true in the original. The girls were attractive but the guys were stunning.

None of the guys were stunning in either version. Chase Crawford is so overrated it’s scary. He’s basic looking.

Chase Crawford, Penn Bagley, and even Ed Westwick were so hot the first few seasons. Chase Crawford just represents all American, clean cut hotness, which is a dying breed. He's not covered in tats, etc. The guest stars that would come on were also very handsome me.

What does hot "basic" mean these days? Too white, no tats or piercings? The good news is that with all the white shaming these days and trashy gen z weirdness, basic is now the exotic standout. I'm excited! I am very skeptical but there was a ton of guy on guy action packed into that, including deep french kissing. The production value looks much higher than the original, so it will have the HBO touch! The black girl is the little J and the bald headed girl is the queen cunt. I think all the men are gay or bi based on the preview. The trans girl is totally passable. I don't think you know unless it was noted.

Josh Schwartz does this world well and to have such a bigger budget should provide a lot of good lifestyle porn.

I wonder if the kissing is more realistic here than Love Victor because the actors playing the gay characters are models. Whether they are gay or not, they are surrounded by gay men. Who knows... they might have even used the castin couch. Either way, I think the fact that it's on HBO Max is a good thing. They can push the limits.

R53 think that ship has sailed. All this new version seems to be about is ‘queer’ sexuality & political signalling. The original show used sex and fashion as a symbolic way to talk about privilege, the way THE SOPRANOS used interpersonal violence and food as a symbolic way to talk about power.

Uh, of course it's going to be "woke". It's about young characters in the US who are rich and queer. Like, was there ever any doubt in that?

If woke triggers you, then this show isn't for you. It's not aimed at "get off my lawn!" old creeps who think a show about today's promiscuous teens should reflect some old, outdated stereotype values.

Woke is annoying as fuck, BUT I believe this cast for rich New York kids of today. They don't have the old money UES/UES private School vibe of the first cast, but times are changing. They are more Blue Ivy and North West than Vanderbilt or Waldorf, which is a different take.

I can't begrudge Gen Z of getting to have actualized gay characters who kiss and have sex. All the boys seem gay or pan and all the girls are of color (but they are too light skinned says twitter!!!!!)). It looks good. Enough Dlers are watching Cruel Summer, so hopefully will have some good thread when GG 2.0 comes out. I think there will be buzz.

Gossip Girl is getting bad reviews across the board. Not mean enough and none of the bite of the original. Camp without the fun. Diversity casting but with no real message.

I like it so far. Love we know who Gossip Girl is right from the start. However, the cast is a bit underwhelming and bland though. The attempts for sexy and alluring fell flat for me (blonde girl getting eaten out by her boyfriend in some backroom, bi guy and blonde's boyfriend undressing in front of each other). A nice set-up and a break-up in the first episode. The fashion show was cool.

Let me guess: The mother of the two half sisters is still alive.

But but but this show had A DIVERSE CAST, so it is the most amazing show EVER and if you don't say so you are a RACIST.

None of the kids are as sweet natured as Blake or as dynamic as Leighton or as pretty as Chase or witty as Penn.
