But no I won't take the Nazi stuff with a grain of salt. He was an asshole:
Deputy Daniel Trujillo, who was hired in 2014, was suspended without pay for 60 days after he violated the department’s use-of-force policy when he beat the inmate’s outstretched arms with nunchaku and also used the weapon to squeeze the inmate’s arms, according to his disciplinary letter, which was obtained by The Denver Post through an open records request.
It is Trujillo’s second suspension this year. He previously sat out 30 days for failing to respond quickly enough to an inmate’s suicide attempt.
The department does not specifically train deputies on door-flap security, Mix said. But they are trained to use the least amount of force necessary, something deputies Trujillo and Hammernik did not do, she said.
“It remains the department’s view the decision by deputies Trujillo and Hammernik to engage with the inmate was completely unnecessary,” Mix said. “He was in a locked cell and that greatly reduces any threat he posed.”

R67 Law enforcement agencies definitely need to screen better when hiring and training. My cousin's husband was in law enforcement and had to retire early due to multiple sclerosis. He retired in 2014 and at some family event he made the comment that some of the people entering into LE are either toxic or stupid as fuck.

Right after I finished college, I lived for awhile with a friend who at the time was working for a county government in New Mexico. She worked in administration and had to deal with various county employees. She said that some of the sheriff's deputies and corrections officers were dumb as rocks.

Based on his history of violence against a prisoner (who was in a cell at the time), and his threatening and hyper aggressive posts, he seems to have been a loud, angry bully. I can’t imagine he would have been anything but an asshole of a father.

What Trump and the right did in the US politicizing a mortal disease is beyond sociopathic and criminal. Here, we also have a right wing president at the moment, but they took this seriously from the beginning and no one is refusing to use mask as act of "freedom" during a respiratory viral pandemic. The only ones refusing the vaccines are those idiots antivaxers. Sadly he will get away with it.

by Anonymous | reply 104 | June 5, 2021 2:50 AM |
r104 You think people who don't want to wear a mask are busy breathing on everyone and not social distancing to the point of avoiding people. Those who hate masks can choose to augment and maintain their immune systems because they don't want to get ill and have to wear a mask nor see masked people in hospitals. You don't see those people because they're avoiding you.
The people who think one fabric worn over their nose and mouth can compensate for Vitamin D3 sufficiency (80% of hospitalized Covid patients had Vit D3 deficiency) and metabolic disorder (over 66% of Americans are overweight, a greater percentage have some insulin resistance) and do nothing else to protect themselves are as hapless as Covid deniers.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | June 5, 2021 3:00 AM |
It's a respiratory virus, your mask is more efficient protection others from you than you from others. The transmission is by inhaling droplets, the mask prevent the spread of them. The mask doesn't not suppose to "compensate" for risks factors, some of them not avoidable like age or genetic predispositions. It's supposed to prevent infections. The individualism in a pandemic cost lives, unlike this specific case, the lives of others.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | June 6, 2021 10:16 AM |

Funny how the right suddenly believes Fauci when he said masks don’t do anything WAY BACK at the start of the pandemic when we knew little about anything. Since then, he’s been nothing but consistent about his message to wear masks.
