Eddie Murphy

It just blows my mind how he is still able to a free pass for such hardcore homophobia. I know he apologized, but he was making homophobic cracks after the fact in his RAW concert. The 80s really were a different time. Even now, people pretend that it didn't happen or something.

He's into chicks with dicks, yes? It blows my mind that this limited talent is in so many films. His hyena laugh and donkey face got tired quickly and his list of film credits is littered with garbage:

The Adventures of Pluto Nash, Daddy Day Care, Vampire in Brooklyn, Harlem Nights, Life, Holy Man, Metro, The Golden Child, Boomerang, Bowfinger, The Haunted Mansion, Norbit, Meet Dave, Imagine That, Tower Heist, A Thousand Words, Mr. Church, Showtime, I Spy. WTF! Many of these films I never heard of and almost all of them have low Metascores and User Scores on IMDB.

He apologized. Move on.

by Anonymousreply 2May 27, 2021 1:19 PM

I don’t think he wrote that apology in Rolling Stone. I believe his manager did—yes?

R1 Life does not belong in that “worst of” list. It’s a good movie. Eddie Murphy had lots of hits, too. Trading Places, Coming to America, Beverly Hills Cop, all the Nutty Professor movies. His character is funnier than Mike Myers’, in Shrek. He’s a talented man. Troubled but talented. He does like the pre-op trannies and is still good friends with reknowned heterosexualiist Arsenio Hall. Maybe he’s in denial about himself. In the Counting Cars episode with Jerry he seemed sad but really upstaged Jerry.

OP, Bowfinger is pretty good.

by Anonymousreply 5May 27, 2021 1:31 PM

Eddie Murphy doesn’t owe you shit. Get off his dick.

by Anonymousreply 6May 27, 2021 1:33 PM

Eddie was very nice to offer that tranny a ride home. It's purely coincidental that she FELL OFF her balcony after the story hit the press!

Classic overcompensation from a closet case. Granted, he's probably genuinely bi rather than outright gay, but his gay impulses clearly cause him extreme anxiety and discomfort.

R4 But the bad here far outweighs the good and has for 25 years. And on which side do Beverly Hills Cop III (1994), Nutty professor II (2000) and Dr Dollitle 2 (2001) fall?

by Anonymousreply 9May 27, 2021 4:40 PM

I have never liked Eddie Murphy
