How’s the music in Sam’s Club, OP/GPG?

They sell Calvin's and Levis at Costco, so not entirely surpisingly although Costco isn't tarnished by association with teh Waltons and is a more successful business than Sam's.

Ugh. What bad move. Gap will lose even more brand appeal now.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 26, 2021 12:41 PM |
This is not surprising given that Gap has abandoned its branded store business. The next generation will known them as a label that can picked up at Walmart or Kohl’s.

I was shopping in Sam's Club a couple weeks ago and noticed that none of the men's shoes for sale had laces - they were all slip-ons.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 26, 2021 12:52 PM |
Fat people hate lacing shoes.

Let’s be clothing brands that have jumped the shark!

The Gap used to have good fabrics and better quality about 25-30 years ago. Then, like everyone else, they cheapened their clothes and lost their customer base.
Why should I spend $25 for a black t-shirt that washes and wears just as well as one from Target?
Executives can't help but run businesses into the ground by maximizing profits. It is so fucking short-sided - as long as they get their huge paychecks, who cares?

I’ve noticed Old Navy now seems to have stepped up its range, and maybe it’s quality (slightly). I wonder if Gap won’t just fold as a label and Old Navy will expand.

I’d love to see a Sam’s Gap parody commercial created. Tan khakis and white shirts adorned by middle aged Sam’s shoppers lethargically moving to Jumpin’ Jive (Joe Jackson).

Say what you will about Gap, but I like their shorts. They wash well and hold up nicely. I have several pair I bought this year and last. I don't like they're being sold at Sam's Club...yuck.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 26, 2021 2:08 PM |
THIS is EXACTLY how HALSTON just RUINED himSELF.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 26, 2021 2:10 PM |
It’s been reported that the brand name clothing/ merchandise sold at Costco is not of the same materials/quality as the brand name merchandise sold elsewhere. It is manufactured for Costco.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 26, 2021 2:40 PM |
Like Gap Outlet/Gap Factory is not the same quality as sold in regular Gap stores.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 26, 2021 3:25 PM |
I was also at Costco in the past couple weeks. Many men's clothing items for sale were the exact same ones for sale last year. And yeah, a lot of it is outlet mall grade.

The Gap nearby me closed recently so I peeked inside American Eagle out of curiosity. I was really pleased with the quality of their shorts and tee shirts and spent a bunch of money there.

WSJ reported this morning that WALMART is going to start selling Gap-branded homegoods.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 27, 2021 8:54 PM |
Old Navy is now the prestige brand.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 27, 2021 8:58 PM |
Considering that malls are ghost towns these days and Gap stores in many of these facilities closed down like 15-20 years ago, what's the big deal?
Their clothes were cheaply made to begin with. Same goes for Old Navy.
I'll be turning 45 in a couple months. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing Gap at my age. Some of you older gays on here left the 90's kicking and screaming...

Sam’s Club needs to start putting out playlists!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 27, 2021 9:29 PM |
You can still find ancient Gap clothes in thrift stores that look almost new. I guess they don't make them like they used to.

Sizes start at XXXXL and go up from there!

Maybe Sam's Club will revive the legendary GapScent, Blue No. 655!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 27, 2021 10:17 PM |
Will there be a Gap line of caftans coming soon to my local Sam's Club?

I’ve missed you! How is your website going?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 27, 2021 10:20 PM |
Well, after posts were being deleted left and right two weeks ago for "copyright violation," I was almost resigned to giving up forever.
However, that next Sunday or Monday, I got a message from Google saying that they decided the claims weren't valid, and they reinstated by site in full.
So, that was wonderful! I was really depressed that someone tried to lie and get the blog destroyed, but now that is over.
I **do** have something in the works that would be my dream come true! Fingers crossed it happens!

GPG, do you have links/copies of the old Gap commercials? I didn’t see any on your website. I’m trying to hunt down a song played in a Gap Kids commercial. Lyrics went something like, “What about the girls girls girls. What about the boys boys boys” (could have been “guys”). I want to say they were wearing winter gear, but could be remembering wrong. TIA.

There are tons of commercials on my YouTube channel.
The song you are referring to is "How About The Boys?" by Arling & Cameron, which was featured in a GapKids commercial (NOT on my YouTube channel) and is on the July 1999 GapKids in-store playlist.

Dozens of Gap videos (and Stevie Nicks rarities!) are on my YouTube channel:

[quote]Then, like everyone else, they cheapened their clothes and lost their customer base.
I've been saying this for 20-25 years as well. Most of their products are just dreck.
The Gap also notoriously contributed to the Fattening of America by moving from standard sizing to "anything goes" anarchy in their sizing (eg, everyone can fit into a medium!)
Fat, poor people with no taste buy Gap and Old Navy clothing. Does Banana Republic still exist? Young Chelsea queens loved BR in the early 00s.

i wonder if its specially made clothes from Gap for sams club or if its the unsold merchandise.... retailers have famously cut up clothing they couldnt sell. even target does it. incredibly wasteful.
