I secretly can't wait for my dog to die
I love my dog more than anything, she's a rescue and I woukd never ever rehome her. She's just so much work every day and she has so much energy for a middle aged dog and she needs constant exercise and attention.
I will never get another dog again.
I love her so much but i basically plan my life around her and she's demanding.

Your family secretly can’t wait for you to die. You are too much an insufferable MARY!!

You’re an irresponsible pet owner. Selfish and a horrible person

Now this thread reminds me of a story!

I hate my owner more than anything, he’s an asshole and I wish he would rehome me.
He just puts in so little work every day and he has so little energy for a middle aged man and doesn’t exercise or pay me any attention.
He should never get another dog again.
I hate him so much because he doesn’t fulfill any of my needs and I’m not even demanding. All he ever wants to do is watch Golden Girls reruns on the sofa and eat chips!
I wish I had a better home and owner. Please, someone get me out of this nursing home, for the love of Dog!!!!

OP, they are a lot of work. Some dogs are more work than others. We really want another dog but we are in our high travel years so we are waiting.

Get a cat with a mean streak. She'll take care of things.

OP: Pay no attention to the snide responses. They accomplish nothing. Your dying wish for your dog is rather extreme, but if your dog is "middle aged" as you say, you could have the dog for a while. How old? What's the life expectancy? What size apartment do you have versus the size of your dog? Do you have a neighbor who can walk your dog or take it for the weekend on occasion so that you have a bit more freedom? I have a neighbor who shares her dog with another neighbor for a couple of days a week, and it helps my neighbor have some much needed freedom.

I really don’t understand hoping for your dog to die instead of giving her a chance to live a good life in a new home where she’s appreciated.
One of my dogs is 16 years old now, pretty deaf and her vision is not the best anymore, but she’s still spunky and enjoying life. I am dreading the day I may have to put her down, and while I hope for her to die peacefully in her sleep, I would still be very upset once she does.
Really, find another home for your dog and get a fish.

Eh, over-reactions. OP said he loves his dog, and the dog (not being picky) probably loves him. There are much worse pet owners. R14 is right, find a dog sitter. We're around - I take care of my neighbor's dog when they're out, and walk him when the weather is beautiful until he returns home and flattens out like a pancake. He loves me, but I definitely would not want him around all the time.

Also, dogs smell and my sense of smell is pretty highly developed. Dogs are best as an occasional thing for me lol

R17, then how do you eat ass with your amazing sense of smell?

He can always "get into the chocolate" OP. Don't pretend like you don't have options.

Oh, I see that the dog is a she...well, maybe that's less chocolate than a male would need. Bonus leftover chocolate for you! Dogs are trusting and die easy. Have fun OP!

I get it OP. My friends have a dog whom they treat like a prince. But he's really dumb. He broke his leg jumping onto a chair. Cost them $10 grand to save the leg. But in the end, it had to be amputated. $10 grand gone for nothing. He is terrified by rain never mind storms. We live in New Orleans. They've tried it all and nothing works. If there is even a mild storm he keeps them up all night. And it's like he's autistic. Ever how much love, care, affection he gets, none of it is returned. They love him with the whole of their hearts. They will be devastated when he dies. But they hope it's tomorrow. Sometimes you just get a bad seed whether it's a pet or a dog. That's why I choose never to have either. Don't get another pet after this one is gone. You're not a bad person. You just did your best for the lemon you got. It happens.

R16: forget ass, I can't handle the smell of dick. Or even my own spunk. Finally realized that I'm asexual. Other people are fine from out of smelling distance.

Don’t feel too bad, OP. If you can swing it I would second springing for a dog sitter even if just occasionally.

It’s time to rehome your dog. Advertise her as a foster. She doesn’t need resentment for existing.
I lost a house and camped on my brother’s couch with the inherited family dog and cat. I couldn’t rent because of pet restrictions and I felt trapped. Luckily, my brother’s friend loved the dog, took her home, and got her to lose weight. My brother graciously took in the cat and added him to his cat gang. I was able to move on.
I loved having pets when I was at home all the time and I involved them in everything, but I can’t imagine storing them while I’m off to work 10 hours a day and I can’t deal with guaranteed heartbreak when they die.

Oh, come on, OP. If you weren't caring for the dog, you'd just be wasting time on DL. The dog is keeping you healthy!
