Lose Weight FAST!

Your best diet-based methods - TIA!

by Anonymousreply 85May 30, 2021 9:25 PM

Put the fork down, fatty.

by Anonymousreply 1May 23, 2021 8:24 PM

You can't lose weight fast and sustain it. If you're looking to drop a lot of weight for a temporary thing (like a wedding in two weeks), the best you could do is like 10lbs in two weeks unless you're morbidly obese then you could lose that much in a coupe of days just cutting in half what you eat,

Keto. Fat, protein and very little vegetables. no fruit. no grains. no root veg. etc etc etc

by Anonymousreply 2May 23, 2021 8:27 PM

I’ve started taking propranolol for anxiety and it helps me not fidget and graze so much, since it zaps my energy and I only want to lay on the couch.

by Anonymousreply 3May 23, 2021 8:30 PM

Diet is fine, but you need a bit of amphetamine.

As for meals, stick to this and the pounds will melt away:

Breakfast:

- 1/2 grapefruit

- 1 poached egg

- 2 slices Roman Meal bread with a pat of butter

- black coffee

Lunch:

- 1/2 cup cottage cheese

- green salad

- 1/2 grapefruit

- 1 slice Roman Meal bread

- black coffee

Dinner:

- 6 oz. flounder with wedge of lemon

- 1 medium baked potato

- 1/2 cup broccoli with lemon juice

- 1 slice Roman Meal bread

- 1 apricot

- 1 cup nonfat milk

by Anonymousreply 4May 23, 2021 8:41 PM

You can lose a fast eight pounds by beheading yourself!

by Anonymousreply 5May 23, 2021 8:45 PM

R4 - did you copy that out of a 1970's women's magazine?

Brought to you by Roman Meal bread...

by Anonymousreply 6May 23, 2021 8:47 PM

R6, it was my mother’s diet and she swore by it. I don’t know where she got it, but it was way before the ‘70s.

by Anonymousreply 7May 23, 2021 8:50 PM

Water fasting. Works like a charm. 3 days in a row, with one gorgeous, luxe, high protein, low carb, nutrient dense feast of a meal on the fourth day; preferably in the late afternoon. You can even have a drinkie poo or three. Then, repeat. I lost 60 pounds in about 3 months and have kept it off for 2 years now. It is inexpensive, couldn't be easier, your skin will glow, your hair will shine, your toes will twinkle EVEN MORE than they do now! Best part aside from dropping the blubber, is it turns off all of the "food noise" in your head, so you can concentrate on things other than what your next dreary "diet meal" will be.

by Anonymousreply 8May 23, 2021 8:51 PM

So you eat once every four days, R8? And you’ve being doing this for two years?

by Anonymousreply 9May 23, 2021 8:54 PM

The easiest way to lose weight is keto. Cut out all those carbs from your diet.

by Anonymousreply 10May 23, 2021 8:58 PM

R9 What I understood is that R8 did the diet for three months and lost 60 lbs. which has been kept OFF for two years.

by Anonymousreply 11May 23, 2021 9:00 PM

That is correct R11, thanks!

by Anonymousreply 12May 23, 2021 9:03 PM

R8 I would call that intermittent fasting albeit a rather extreme version. After that many days in a row of not eating, didn't you get light-headed and have trouble concentrating? Did you have a job or other committments? Can you tell us more about how you managed such a feat?

by Anonymousreply 13May 23, 2021 10:18 PM

I agree with a water fast, but if you can do at least 6 days, I recommend Master Cleanse.

by Anonymousreply 14May 23, 2021 10:33 PM

R13 My advice is to work up to it. One day every other day. Then two days, etc. I've gone as long as 6 days (and it water fasting world, that's "eh". Some people take it very far) but the sweet spot for me is 4. Try a full 24 hour fast over a weekend. Water only, and of course any medication you HAVE to be on. Nothing recreational (no edibles). This isn't something to try for the first time on a busy Monday. See how you feel after the first 24 hours, Are you woozy? Do you actually feel fine? Push it for another 4 hours, then another 4. Move up incrementally. Break the fast gently with a bit of chicken or beef broth, and a bit of avocado to get your system used to having food to process. I think you will be really surprised how shitty you DON'T feel. Also there are a few threads on here about this already that you can draw from.

I don't get lightheaded, I actually get more focused. It's crazy how much time and energy goes into traditional dieting. This gives both your noggin and your body a break from all of that. It's not for everyone, but give it a shot.

by Anonymousreply 15May 23, 2021 10:40 PM

R13, fasting supposedly gives you mental clarity. Initially, you're light-headed and then your body adjusts. I've never done it for that many days in a row, but it's easy to fast if you allow yourself coffee/tea. I also drink water with 0 calorie/sweetner electrolytes.

by Anonymousreply 16May 23, 2021 10:41 PM

Sorry I didn't answer your question about commitments. I am able to do my usual stuff. I don't feel depleted or faint. But again, for first timers, do it when you have a clear schedule. Like I said, start on a weekend for it.

by Anonymousreply 17May 23, 2021 10:42 PM

AIDS and pancreatic cancer, together.

by Anonymousreply 18May 23, 2021 10:42 PM

Bob Harper's Jumpstart to Skinny

3 week low calorie jumpstart, some good recipes in the book, older but good plan, unlimited greens.

by Anonymousreply 19May 23, 2021 10:45 PM

No sweeteners of any kind on water fasting. No coffee either (sorry). Some say certain herbal teas are OK. I, and many others, say no. Nothing. Nada. Just water. Don't introduce anything into the body but water.

by Anonymousreply 20May 23, 2021 10:45 PM

Screw that. R20. I need my coffee. I don't even have to have anything added to it, but I have to have my coffee.

by Anonymousreply 21May 23, 2021 10:48 PM

Last weekend, I didn't eat for 2 and a half days (from Friday night to Monday mid-morning). WOW! The weight loss was obvious AND it did not go away once I ate normally during the week.

I wasn't even hungry that Monday morning, but someone at work gave me a breakfast burrito or something, and I ate it.

Water fasting is amazing!

by Anonymousreply 22May 23, 2021 10:49 PM

I had to go completely vegan in November - long story short, meat and dairy give me severe stomach gas that was causing my heart to speed up.

I lost 30 pounds in 3 months. FWIW.

by Anonymousreply 23May 23, 2021 10:51 PM

Wow r23! Do you think you will try reintroducing some fish though?

by Anonymousreply 24May 23, 2021 11:20 PM

Thanks R15/R17/R20. Interesting that you kept up your regular activities. I've fasted for 24 hours with no problems when I planned for it (weekend or light work day) and felt great afterwards, broke bad habits, and such. Currently, I'm down to two meals a day and shooting for OMAD. Glad to hear you had such good results and were able to keep the weight off.

by Anonymousreply 25May 23, 2021 11:26 PM

[quote]Wow [R23]! Do you think you will try reintroducing some fish though?

Small amounts of fish and chicken I'm okay with. Anything with whey, forget it. My stomach revolts.

Takes a while for your body to adjust, but if you want to lose pounds it is an option. (taking a daily vitamin to balance things out.)

by Anonymousreply 26May 24, 2021 1:46 AM

Metformin. Not kidding. It completely kills your appetite.

by Anonymousreply 27May 24, 2021 3:01 AM

I tried metformin and all it did was make me have severe stomach cramps.

by Anonymousreply 28May 24, 2021 3:42 AM

R28, at the beginning it does that, but once your body adjusts, that shouldn't happen. If you're still having issues, then it's because you're eating like shit (lots of sugar/carbs).

by Anonymousreply 29May 24, 2021 4:09 AM

Thanks for the tips. I think I’m going to retry the intermediate fasting.

by Anonymousreply 30May 24, 2021 4:20 AM

Thank you everyone for your great suggestions! The water fast sounds daunting but maybe I will try it this weekend.

by Anonymousreply 31May 24, 2021 9:48 AM

Try carnivore. You won't miss the carbs.

by Anonymousreply 32May 24, 2021 9:50 AM

Lots of nose candy. I'm never hungry and I cannot believe how fast I'm losing weight. I get a ton of energy. Mental clarity and decisioin-making are not the best though.

by Anonymousreply 33May 24, 2021 10:00 AM

Get a copy of the Scarsdale Diet. It was a hit 40 odd years ago. In two weeks you'll lose pounds, your breath will smell bad and you will rapidly put all the weight back on but by God it works. Dr Scarsdale was murdered by his waspy lover, the headmistress of a snooty school for girls. We would throw in a handful of diet pills too.....good times!

by Anonymousreply 34May 24, 2021 10:06 AM

How is it you/me used to be able to eat a couple of meals a day and remain the same weight. Now it seems like you have to choose which meal you want - lunch or dinner. Did the food change? Or is it my metabolism changed?

by Anonymousreply 35May 24, 2021 12:05 PM

R2-Now it's called Keto in 1999 that same diet plan was called the ATKINS diet. It will help you lose weight in the short term but it's an Unbalanced and Unhealthful diet for the long term.

by Anonymousreply 36May 24, 2021 12:10 PM

R35 Metabolism sounds right. As we age, we lose muscle mass, so strength training is essential for maintaining it and a healthy metabolism.

by Anonymousreply 37May 24, 2021 12:21 PM

You can have black coffee when fasting

by Anonymousreply 38May 24, 2021 12:35 PM

R22 did you have to run to the bathroom after eating? I have that problem when I eat after a fast.

by Anonymousreply 39May 24, 2021 12:37 PM

If I completely stop eating sugar, I lose weight FAST! Like 30 lbs. in two months. But I'm never able to stick to that, because I have such a sweet tooth and I always gain it back.

by Anonymousreply 40May 24, 2021 12:41 PM

Breakfast: Coffee and 1/4 a cup of oatmeal (it’s less than 1 serving, but filling and fewer than 100 calories)

Lunch: Tea and a piece of fruit or some yogurt

Dinner: Whatever you want...as long as you don’t feel overly stuffed.

I’m almost 40 and I weigh the same as I did in college. At one point in my late 20s I was 1 lb away from being overweight according to my BMI. That scared the shit out of me and I’ve been comfortably within a normal weight range ever since (using the eating habits described above)

by Anonymousreply 41May 24, 2021 12:51 PM

Years ago I fasted for 7 days. Don't think I could do that now.

by Anonymousreply 42May 24, 2021 1:00 PM

I can only provide the details from a 1976 article, but they're pretty basic.

Grace Slick's weight loss program: saltines with American cheese slices for breakfast The same for lunch. Ditto dinner. All the liquor you can drink.

I imagine the other ingredient wh. she more than likely mentioned (we love Grace, but in those days discretion was unnecessary for her) but was edited out of the article was as much cocaine as you could inhale. Ah, those WERE the days!

by Anonymousreply 43May 24, 2021 1:06 PM

R36, while both Keto and Atkins are low carb, they're different in that the former focuses on fat as your main source of sustenance and the latter is protein-focused.

by Anonymousreply 44May 24, 2021 3:20 PM

Fasting is like a RESET after I've let bad habits creep in (for me, high-carb snacking). It lets me detox and start over.

by Anonymousreply 45May 24, 2021 8:32 PM

R39 I am the water faster from earlier up thread. Depending on how long you have fasted, yes! I was horribly remiss by not warning people to break longer fasts if not ON the toilet but right fucking next to one. It comes out THAT quickly. It's kind of...interesting though how much comes out when you haven't eaten a thing for 4-6 days. But that few bites of avocado. I mean...It turns into oh so many avocados. Shit (literally), my apologies! It's your digestive system waking up with a vengeance basically. I kind of like how breaking the fast helps kick out any "extra" that may have been lurking all up in there. For me though, it's only that first small initial reintroduction of food. When I go in for my post fast feast meal, I don't have the same reaction.

by Anonymousreply 46May 25, 2021 1:53 AM

I recently fasted for 50 hours and that's the most I have ever done, but usually I do OMAD (one meal a day)

by Anonymousreply 47May 25, 2021 2:06 AM

Do two smoothies a day. One with all greens and one with greek yogurt as the main staple and something small for breakfast. Exercise 5-6 days a week, start small otherwise you won't keep at it. Also, make it doable. Diets don't work, lifestyle changes do. Instead of deleting bad things, start adding good things.

I had to shed some fit fat pounds. At 40, dad bod is desperately trying to drag me into a barrel shaped body that seems to happen, but I refuse.

Here is a smoothie I like for lunch. There are all variations of the same. Follow this recipe and you'll have 3-4 glasses of these greens which is really filling. I feel totally different after a month. I chose Jenna Dewan's b/c it was for picky eaters.

Added benefits - I'm so hard and horny all the time. I also shoot ropes of cum, which I never did. I think it's the celery or cucumber. Small breakfast, this for lunch, chicken and veggies for dinner, gym, and you will look hot.

All the horrific eating disorders on display in this thread.

OP - anything you lose in a hurry, you will gain again up to threefold. Reputable studies have proved this over and over and over again.

Eat healthy foods, do a small amount of exercise and get enough sleep. That's the weight loss secret.

Not just regain, but THREEFOLD? Oh my sides! (That are slimmer than yours)

Cite your sources. No...I know you need that energy to lift your eclairs. (Look them up you flyover mess, sorry, I should have said Twinkies.)

Keto. My partner lost 50 lbs and I’m down 28 lbs since Feb.

You must keep the fat up (avocado, coconut oil, butter, cream) if you really want it to work. Typically I have a slice of bacon and cottage cheese or a no sugar smoothie for bfast . Lunch is 2 c lettuce with avocado hard boiled egg or chicken, cheese and creamy dressing. Dinner some grilled protein, creamed spinach or a salad with crispy pancetta lemon and Parmesan.

After 3 weeks you just aren’t hungry any more. It’s weird. We’re at weight goal so we can have a cheat meal or two weekly w/o gaining. I stopped drinking but if I have a cocktail it’s a sugar free moscow mule or gin with diet tonic.

by Anonymousreply 59May 25, 2021 10:59 AM

Oh god, now I'm fucking STARVING. Why aren't there higher end fast food restaurants (Is the term "fast casual?") dedicated to low carb, high protein, grass fed, paleo, etc. WHY? If they delivered, I would be so happy.

by Anonymousreply 60May 25, 2021 11:14 AM

Those saying to stop with the fats are wrong. You need a balanced died which includes healthy fats. If you want to lose weight cut down on your meats.

by Anonymousreply 61May 25, 2021 2:36 PM

To anyone who actually bothers to read your post R55 - 3 things become immediately obvious;

1. All the flouncing, protestation and deflection tactics you use instantly out you as a grossly obese gelatinous hippo.

2. Using your dialing wand, it took you 39 minutes to write your post, one key at a time, then a snack break, then another snack break before triple checking it for spelling errors and correct punctuation.

3. Nobody has eaten eclairs since the 1970s so you must be at least 80 years old and close to death. Well, we can hope.

There's somebody on your lawn R55...

by Anonymousreply 62May 25, 2021 3:48 PM

Low sugar diet. Pounds dropped off without making any other changes.

by Anonymousreply 64May 25, 2021 4:18 PM

I've been doing IF for the last 10 months, I went off it the month of April, really pigged out and ate a lot of restaurant food and I only gained 2 pounds. Went back on it in May and the 2 pounds are gone again, IF really does work.

by Anonymousreply 65May 26, 2021 12:38 AM

Lose weight fast, gain it back faster.

The best way to lose weight is to improve your eating habits, and that takes patience, research and a lot of experimentation. The Mediterranean diet is what works for me.

by Anonymousreply 66May 26, 2021 12:58 AM

[quote]or a no sugar smoothie for bfast

So no fruit? What do you add for sweetness?

by Anonymousreply 67May 26, 2021 1:03 AM

IF works for me because I cannot just have a small amount of something and stop, I am better off abstaining. So I do a 21:3 where I eat between 6 pm and 9 pm.

by Anonymousreply 68May 26, 2021 1:56 AM

With IF, do you just gorge during your window or do you eat like you're dieting?

by Anonymousreply 69May 26, 2021 2:07 AM

r69 I gorge on Friday and Saturday, but Sunday through Thursday I eat like I am dieting and I have been losing weight every week.

by Anonymousreply 71May 26, 2021 9:27 AM

Take sleeping pills and sleep for 12+ hours so you aren't eating then. I am half kidding, I have done that on a weekend and it helps.

Do you guys remember in the early aughts when the thing to do was to get your jaw wired shut for a month and live on a liquid diet? I remember someone on a reality show did it and it was horrifying to watch. Anyway, I don't know if this is still a thing, but this could be an option to investigate.

by Anonymousreply 82May 30, 2021 4:53 PM

After the virus, I think fat is out again. Everyone was praising fat acceptance, big is beautiful, but we saw this past year that being overweight has a lot of consequences, some that people aren't aware of. Many of the younger people that were "very healthy" were the ones that typically were most effected by the virus. Embrace your natural body size and make it the healthiest it can be, but I think the days of flaunting your snack purse in people's faces is over.
