Spirit Airlines

Another day, another problem on Spirit Airlines. I think the government should issue a warning that they are hazardous to a person’s health.

Hope they were flying TO where they live because if not, they'll be driving a rental car BACK. After a jail sentence, one hopes.

by Anonymousreply 1May 22, 2021 11:17 PM

I would rather pay more to fly a legacy airline than save a few dollars to ride this shitty airline.

by Anonymousreply 2May 22, 2021 11:18 PM

God I hate to ask this question, but why do the criminals in these situations always wear dreadlocks? They’re going to give all dreadlock wearers a bad name.

by Anonymousreply 3May 22, 2021 11:19 PM

Wow, I've only flown this airline twice, once because I was forced to by the sponsor of a fest where I was making an appearance and then 10 yrs later when it was the only airline that had the schedule I needed during a holiday, but I paid for their version of first class. The first was a nightmare, the 2nd was quite pleasurable. Both were over a decade ago. You couldn't get me to get on one of their planes now if you paid me.

by Anonymousreply 4May 22, 2021 11:23 PM

Please don’t let them aw hell naw

Sure it's not Soul Plane?

by Anonymousreply 8May 22, 2021 11:29 PM

They say Norwegian Airlines is the Walmart of the skies. Spirit is way below that.

Flown it twice, never again.

by Anonymousreply 9May 22, 2021 11:30 PM

I like that we have Spirit to make sure THEY travel separately. Spirit is a necessary evil, that I fortunately never have to encounter.

by Anonymousreply 10May 22, 2021 11:33 PM

I wonder how I am supposed to react to the thread? Come out and tell me, OP? I'm a bit retarded. It looks crazy! Any you say this happens every day. People go crazy on this transport? Well, isn't that something! What is the world coming too! I'm posting my pic below. I know, I'm old. Don't fly much. So you say it's crazy like this every day?

by Anonymousreply 16May 22, 2021 11:39 PM

I miss the days when animals were forced to walk or possibly hitch a railcar. Now, almost anything can ride with respectable people and ruin their trip.

I didn’t see a white guy in the video but black Twitter is already trying to pin it all on Whitey:

“Im just wonder what this white man did to get sis out her pocket like that... I need back story.”

AKA “we can’t be held accountable for our own actions” AKA blacksplaining

by Anonymousreply 21May 22, 2021 11:45 PM

Spirit should have a separate division called Cracker Airlines. For when white trash needs to fly the segregated skies.

WAIT! I have flown for years. Most of the argumentative, nasty and defiant passengers I’ve seen have all been white. Maybe it’s where I live. The 3 times I’ve seen scuffles (2 at the airport and one on an airplane that was quickly contained), they’ve all been white.

There seems to be a thing on Datalounge that if a crime, hate speech or boorish is committed by a white person, it is examined or ridiculed as individual behavior. When it’s non-white, the person represents the whole race.

It bothers me because I don’t like it when the bad behavior of a individual gay man is cited, we all get painted with the same brush. That has happened a couple of times at my job.

[quote] Has anyone heard anything about Spirit Airlines flights being more prone to in flight turbulence? Seems this is a running theme on Twitter.

I'd believe it. Both times I flew Spirit, all four legs were marred by extreme turbulence. One flight, I swear we nearly turned sideways.

by Anonymousreply 40May 23, 2021 8:02 PM

Spirit posted on the Twitter thread that this was not one of their flights R39.

by Anonymousreply 41May 23, 2021 8:02 PM

R39, that happened on an ALK flight in June 2019.

by Anonymousreply 42May 23, 2021 8:19 PM

United I've come to find on domestic coach is no better.

by Anonymousreply 43May 23, 2021 8:20 PM

I once had a Spirit flight canceled because they didn't have a pilot. Um, what?

by Anonymousreply 44May 23, 2021 8:41 PM

It always seems decorum and self-restraint are just not qualities black people bother with. It is hard to come to any other conclusion. I've worked with the public and trying to manage the over the top responses with black clientele was exhausting.

by Anonymousreply 45May 24, 2021 8:22 AM

Most of the over the top responses if not all of them concerning masks involved and still involve white people acting completely irrationally and impossible to deal with. Look at the white republicans ever since they joined with Trump they have gone completely off bananas with no signs of stopping despite his lose. They say let Jan 6 go despite refusing to let Nov 22 go. Imagine if it had been a BLM protest that breached the capital it would be the darkest day in American history far surpassing the War of 1812, Pearl Harbor and the World Trade Center attack combined.

by Anonymousreply 46May 24, 2021 12:08 PM

Agree with R46. White people--and I am one--have rarely been told "No". Not meaning gay whites, but straight whites? What restrictions have they EVER faced? They could get married, whatever they fuck and how often was A-okay or "look the other way". They get asked to wear a mask and WHOOSH! Suddenly, they're oppressed and have breakdowns over it. Cry me a river, asshole.

by Anonymousreply 47May 24, 2021 1:29 PM

I have yet to see a white in the chaos of that video

by Anonymousreply 48May 24, 2021 1:39 PM

I don't care what color your skin is cause I've seen all kinds of bad behavior on plans - why is it so hard to just board a plane, sit in your, seat, STFU and follow instructions and get off the plane when it lands?

by Anonymousreply 49May 24, 2021 1:46 PM

I've never flown this airline before. Could somebody tell me what demographic they're going for? Is it strictly working class, or are they hoping to attract business travelers, etc.? All I hear about this company are bad things and flying one of their flights seems like it'd be akin to sitting for hours at a time at a check cashing store.

by Anonymousreply 50May 24, 2021 1:53 PM

Spirit has all types. It is not one demographic. Everybody no matter what their status wants to save a buck. You are so crammed in and uncomfortable it is going to bring out the worst in a lot of people. Avoid it if you can.

by Anonymousreply 51May 24, 2021 1:58 PM

OMG can somebody tell me if the post at R37 is real?!? That can't be an actual airline employee speaking, is it?

by Anonymousreply 52May 24, 2021 1:59 PM

I hope no weaves were harmed during this unfortunate event.

by Anonymousreply 53May 24, 2021 2:05 PM

R50 it’s an airline with cheap base fares (but outrageous fees for everything so it’s not even all that cheaper) so it attracts ghetto people and deplorables

by Anonymousreply 54May 24, 2021 2:05 PM

Here in Texas, they all got on Spirit airlines and went to Miami for $69 round trip, when the city opened back up from the pandemic. The videos were sheer chaos, vulgar twerking, and disrespectful behavior. A literal zoo; a sad commentary on the effects of no parental care in the formative years.

by Anonymousreply 55May 24, 2021 2:09 PM

people that do this need to be banned from flying any airline for a minimum of 2 years, if it happens again, banned for life.

by Anonymousreply 56May 24, 2021 2:10 PM

[quote] You are so crammed in and uncomfortable it is going to bring out the worst in a lot of people

Their seat pitch is as low as 28", compared to United's standard 31" and United Economy Plus at 37". It doesn't sound like much. but it makes a huge difference when the asshole in front of you suddenly reclines his seat while you're trying to work on your laptop

R50, it's mostly DMV people in pajamas.

by Anonymousreply 58May 24, 2021 2:33 PM

R58 - “DMV people in pajamas” is the most accurate description of Spirit Airlines demographic. This is classic DL.

by Anonymousreply 59May 24, 2021 2:36 PM

R50 I personally have not flown spirit but I did fly on a similar low cost airline a few years back because that’s all that was available at time and it was horrible. I learned from that experience to never book a bundle on Expedia with short notice.

As for the flight the people are literally crammed into uncomfortable seats that did not fully recline and almost zero leg room. No complimentary drinks or snacks and the insane baggage rules. What may seem like a cheap flight quickly skyrockets with all of the ridiculous baggage fees, even personal sized items are scrutinized.

The flight attendants uniforms looked dirty and wrinkled.

The people on my flight seemed to be from all walks of life so I can’t say they looked low class and no fights on board.

by Anonymousreply 60May 24, 2021 2:38 PM

Seriously. Require vax certificates before tickets can be purchased. Problem solved. Problems solved all round.
