Her wrap dresses were not haute couture, but they were not "affordable" to most people.

I remember in the late '70s, they cost around $200, which was a lot for a cotton dress back then. It would be over $900 in today's money.

Diane was never pretty, just stylish.

You make a good point. DL has this weird thing about age. Someone will post a picture of someone who is no longer hot, but they never seem to take into account age. But then they scream about someone getting plastic surgery. So it's a damned if you do situation.

The wrap dresses were (and still are) silk jersey - 100% silk. It’s a lovely durable fabric that drapes beautifully. I see them all the time at Goodwill. They would be an investment piece like a good navy blazer or knee-high boot.

My problem with them was that they really aren’t flattering to every body, and are deeply low-cut.

Having said that, they are a classic even now, and can be worn with boots or pumps or sandals. It’s kind of a genius garment.

It's mostly the sun damage that has aged her (yes, duh). I used to be a sun worshiper and it's almost like people get high off of the sun and being tanned. Donatella Versace is another one who is almost addicted to the sun.
