Acrobatic Olympian Receives Backlash for Breastfeeding Pic

Olympic gold medalist Torah Bright says she's "sad" to see the hate her handstand breastfeeding picture has received ... but she's vowing to not let it get her down.

The 34-year-old -- who's a snowboarding legend in Australia -- posted a series of photos on Mother's Day, including one of her breastfeeding topless while upside down.

The photo was pretty cool -- it's an impressive feat!!! -- but it was met with backlash on social media ... with people calling her a bad mother and an attention-seeker.

Bright, though, fired back on her social media page this week ... defending the picture and calling out all the trolls on Instagram.

"Reading some of these comments made me sad," Bright wrote in her now-expired IG story.

"In my world, mothers should be each other’s cheer leaders (it's hard enough). Embrace our quirkiness and finding the joy in every s****y thing that is motherhood."

She continued, "We all do it differently. It is not wrong or right. Motherhood is pure. I only now consider myself a Wonder Woman because I have joined the sacred MOTHERS club with you. Nothing but respect to all mothers."

Bright -- a 2-time Olympic medalist (one gold, one silver) who married fellow athlete Angus Thomson in 2015 -- gave birth to her baby boy back in July ... and has openly chronicled her journey as a mother ever since.

Oh Lord....my sis, a mother herself, would be the first to barf at the "sacred" motherhood crap.

by Anonymousreply 1May 18, 2021 10:12 PM

Another case of -just because you can...

by Anonymousreply 2May 18, 2021 10:16 PM

Pretty cool picture.

by Anonymousreply 3May 18, 2021 10:16 PM

Naked breast!!!!!!!!!!

I'm afraid!!!!!

Society as we know it is ENDING!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 4May 18, 2021 10:16 PM

"The photo was pretty cool -- it's an impressive feat!!! -- but it was met with backlash on social media ... with people calling her a bad mother and an attention-seeker. "

It doesn't make her a bad mother. But, she's obviously an attention seeker. I'm not even using the term negatively. But, it's clear she wants attention. These made up, self-initiated mini-dramas are so tedious. Anyone with half a brain knows that social media will always bring "backlash" whether warranted or not.

by Anonymousreply 5May 18, 2021 10:17 PM

sorry but who want to see that shit?

by Anonymousreply 6May 18, 2021 10:17 PM

That poor kid's gonna starve.

by Anonymousreply 7May 18, 2021 10:17 PM

Toughened her nipples didn’t it?

by Anonymousreply 8May 18, 2021 10:27 PM

She’s so upside down that she may be making ‘chocolate’ milk for that baby.

by Anonymousreply 9May 18, 2021 10:36 PM

What if she falls on the child??

by Anonymousreply 10May 18, 2021 10:41 PM

Why not just take a photo of yourself taking a dump. Surely someone has done that, too.

Some things best be private.

by Anonymousreply 11May 18, 2021 10:45 PM

^^^Excuse me?

by Anonymousreply 12May 18, 2021 11:05 PM

Isn't that kid a little old to be breast-feeding?

by Anonymousreply 13May 18, 2021 11:15 PM

She’s in great shape, not just for someone who had a child not too long ago. I don’t care for kids or breastfeeding, but I can’t find it in me to hate the picture. It looks like they’re both having a good time.

by Anonymousreply 14May 18, 2021 11:24 PM

Breasts are for breastfeeding. They have no other purpose. They're not genitalia so I don't get why breastfeeding is so indecent to people. Maybe just don't look if it makes you uncomfortable.

by Anonymousreply 15May 18, 2021 11:36 PM

Thirsty. Mom, not baby.

by Anonymousreply 16May 18, 2021 11:37 PM

No R13, the baby was born in July so they're not even a year old. One year is the minimum recommended amount of time to breastfeed.

by Anonymousreply 17May 18, 2021 11:38 PM

Excuse me!!

by Anonymousreply 18May 18, 2021 11:42 PM

More worried about the kid zoom-crawling over the edge in that mountain top yard.

by Anonymousreply 19May 18, 2021 11:45 PM

I can't hate it either. There's something about it that's fun. I don't get the extreme reaction thi bare breasts either. There's cultures that functioned just fine without having a bra on/ covering them up. If the people had the reactions our culture does, oh my, they wouldn't have gotten a single thing done.

And as much as there's a factor with social media used for attention, there's a ton of people looking to be nasty just because they can. That old saying sometimes applies "if you don't have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all".

by Anonymousreply 20May 18, 2021 11:46 PM

File this firmly under: I don't give on ounce of a fuck.

by Anonymousreply 21May 18, 2021 11:47 PM

For me, the cringe is that idiotic "look at me" pose. You're feeding your fucking kid. Great. Honestly, I'd laugh if she fell over. She and Hilaria can fuck off

by Anonymousreply 22May 18, 2021 11:48 PM

It’s one more nail in the Olympic’s coffin. So fucking tone deaf.

You feed your baby with those titties whenever needed and if they give you shit, you do bendy shit. Yeah.

by Anonymousreply 23May 18, 2021 11:50 PM

Six weeks is the MINIMUM amount of time recommended for breastfeeding, not a year for fuck's sake.

If she wants to stand on her head while breastfeeding her kid in the privacy of her own backyard, that's fine, nobody knows and nobody cares. When she decided to make a spectacle of herself and her child then she invited trolling and controversy. She was attention-seeking and she succeeded. Spare me "motherhood is pure" we've seen some "pure" motherfucking mothers and yours is not a true statement.

by Anonymousreply 24May 18, 2021 11:51 PM

Standing on your head like a fucking idiot doesn't make you more of a mother. It just makes you desperate for attention. I have no problem with mothers feeding their kids, but the fucking VIRTUE SIGNALING. Fuck off.

by Anonymousreply 25May 18, 2021 11:57 PM

No one recommends just six weeks, R24. Six months, yes. A year is even better for strengthening the immune system.

Everyone posts on Instagram because they're thirsty for attention, that's the whole point. If she wants to feed her baby while doing it, I don't give a shit.

by Anonymousreply 26May 18, 2021 11:59 PM

Very beautiful. Remind me of old Slovanian trick which is feed the baby from bottle sticked in the poosey.

This is hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 28May 19, 2021 12:00 AM

Feeding while skateboarding. Yeah, that sounds comfortable. When this kid falls over or gets hurt during Extreme Breastfeeding...your fault, supermom

by Anonymousreply 29May 19, 2021 12:01 AM

Nobody cares if you breastfeed in public. But we do get tired of attention whoring from mothers like this.

by Anonymousreply 30May 19, 2021 12:01 AM

It's a great photo and she has an awesome body.

It would be a hoot to have a pic like that of me and my mom.

When I was a child, years ago in the1960s there was a mother from Europe in the neighborhood who rode her bike great distances every day. It was also rumored that she sunbathed nude in her backyard.

She was of great fascination for everyone, kids and parents alike. They were a nice family with good kids so it really wasn't a big deal, just really interesting.

by Anonymousreply 31May 19, 2021 12:02 AM

No, R26, the minimum recommended time to boost the kid's immunity is six weeks. You can stretch those udders out longer if you want, but scientifically it's six weeks to get the recommended benefits.

Six months to a year? It's for the mothers not the children.

by Anonymousreply 32May 19, 2021 12:04 AM

Nope R32, both the World Health Organization and the American Academy of Pediatrics say that babies should be breastfed exclusively for 6 months, with a combination of solids and breastmilk for 2 years or more. And research clearly shows that babies get antibodies from breastmilk for at least a year.

I don't know where you're getting six weeks but that's nothing. I'll trust the research.

I don’t know what the big deal is. I do that with my bf but with his dick instead of a tit.

by Anonymousreply 34May 19, 2021 12:16 AM

Is she going to be one of those creepy bitches who breastfeed their kids until they're 5?

by Anonymousreply 35May 19, 2021 12:18 AM

Attention whoring tit Nazi

by Anonymousreply 36May 19, 2021 12:20 AM

Concerntrolls giving her more attention. It's a mildly interesting sorta cool picture.

by Anonymousreply 37May 19, 2021 12:23 AM

I just love how it makes grizzled queens vomit. Put your dirty pillows away!!!!! Have you no decency?

by Anonymousreply 38May 19, 2021 1:00 AM

I don't know what the purpose of this spectacle is. To how how uninhibited she is about breastfeeding her whelp? Anyway, it's stupid and gross.

by Anonymousreply 39May 19, 2021 1:04 AM

The olympics kicked a woman out for breastfeeding her infant, R39.

by Anonymousreply 40May 19, 2021 1:46 AM

Why didn’t I think of that?

by Anonymousreply 41May 19, 2021 2:11 AM

"I NEED ATTENTION"

by Anonymousreply 42May 19, 2021 2:26 AM

I think it's funny that R28 & R38 think that it's the olds who hate this. The olds grew up with women feeding their babies in public, I would see it on the bus when I was a kid 60 years ago, it was just something people took as part of life, at least where I grew up.

by Anonymousreply 43May 19, 2021 3:42 AM

That boy is too old to still be breastfeeding. He's like 4 or 5.

by Anonymousreply 44May 19, 2021 3:43 AM

'Put 'em away, Judy!'

by Anonymousreply 45May 19, 2021 4:44 AM

[quote]Six months to a year? It's for the mothers not the children.

That's incorrect.

It's 6 months minimum.

Then up to a year while also feeding the child some solid foods. After a year you should stop.

The baby is 10 months old so it's not weird that it's breastfeeding.

(WHO actually tells women they can go up to 2 years while also introducing solid foods after 6 months. Up to a year is a general guideline though.)

Beyond that the photo gave me a chuckle so good on her.

by Anonymousreply 46May 19, 2021 5:11 AM

[quote]I just love how it makes grizzled queens vomit. Put your dirty pillows away!!!!! Have you no decency?

The majority of us aren’t grossed out by the breastfeeding, but are grossed out by the desperate attention seeking. And if you read the comments under the Daily Fail article, many women are saying the same thing.

by Anonymousreply 47May 19, 2021 12:18 PM

Creepy as fuque!

by Anonymousreply 48May 19, 2021 12:23 PM

I’m sure the kid will love when he’s older and the boys at school end up teasing him about this picture. Do people ever think about that when they overshare?

by Anonymousreply 49May 19, 2021 12:26 PM

There’s nothing about breastfeeding while standing on your head that says “motherhood.”

by Anonymousreply 50May 19, 2021 12:39 PM

"I'm quirky!!! Love me!!!!!!"

by Anonymousreply 51May 19, 2021 2:13 PM

These weirdo fraus and their bizarre breast feeding obsession. They love to post this stupid shit for attention. Plenty of normal women breast feed their kids everyday and don’t feel the need to talk about it.

by Anonymousreply 52May 19, 2021 2:23 PM

That child is at least 20.

Disgraceful.

by Anonymousreply 53May 19, 2021 2:24 PM

I thought it was a silly, fun picture, but now I understand that it marks the death of all proper societal mores.

by Anonymousreply 54May 19, 2021 2:32 PM

What are humans but a vast quantity of varied opinions? Let's chatter about it and move on to the next one.

So many opinions are nothing more than subtle manipulation, to get others to agree and make ourselves feel better.

by Anonymousreply 61May 19, 2021 5:34 PM

Excuse me! It is CHESTfeeding. That other word is very triggering to our trans and non-binary sisters and brothers and others. Using the b***** word is literal violence!

Do👏 better👏and👏be👏better!

by Anonymousreply 62May 19, 2021 6:05 PM

R19 that's the first thing I noticed too.

I've never known any women who breastfed past the kid getting teeth. They all said "ouch, fuck it" and went to bottles. One girl almost had her nipple bitten off. Needed stitches and everything.

by Anonymousreply 63May 19, 2021 6:50 PM

"Extended breastfeeding" is something that a mother does because she likes getting her nipples sucked and wants her child to continue to do it so she can continue to derive the pleasure of getting her nipples sucked a lot. Any child old enough to eat solid food does NOT need to derive sustenance from its mother's breasts. So "extended breastfeeding" is solely from the mother's benefit. I myself think it's child abuse to have a child keep sucking its mother's tits. I think that child will probably end up with some pretty severe mental problems.

In "The Color Purple" Celie muses about her "little lost babies" who she used to suckle. She said it would give her "a little shiver...sometimes a big shiver." And that the best thing about having babies "was feedin' em." How gross.

by Anonymousreply 64May 24, 2021 1:36 AM

So she wanted attention and she got it. Can't cry that it didn't please 100% of the people.

by Anonymousreply 65May 24, 2021 1:50 AM

It’s bad enough she’s shirtless, but must the child be naked as well?

by Anonymousreply 66May 24, 2021 3:17 AM

IIRC, Torah was a devout Mormon & was kinda judgy of her more liberal sports mates…
