Pansy

After a gloomy winter I went a little nuts with pansies this year. I have four hanging baskets and four planters full of pansy sparkle and joy. I actually never realized how fragrant they are. I will have to move them out of the afternoon sun once it is consistently warm.
Other annuals I like are geraniums, zinnias, dahlias, lobelia.
I have a lot of perennials that are up or coming up now are irises, hyacinth, daffodils, tulips (all about done), lilies, sweet pea, clematis.

I have beautiful tulips and daffodils for spring, then an assortment of bedding plants for summer which I change every year. Iām trying out nasturtium this year, but I know from past experience that it can get out of control.

I have a large perennial border on two tiers and within those tiers I create a layered look. And, one must take care to have a good display in early spring, followed by flowers that bloom in late spring, early summer, mid-summer, late summer, and fall.
Oh, and I detest chrysanthemums and much prefer asters.

Cosmos are a lovely cottage garden flower. You can broadcast the seeds on top of snow in the winter and then just let them do their thing.

Should I convert my lawn from grass to clover?

Well, it would be better for the environment.

I love coleus. There are so many kinds, all colorful. They grow easily from cuttings. You can often just pinch a stem off, stick it in the dirt, and have a new plant in a couple of weeks.
I also love sedum. It's a low-growing ground cover that grows quickly from cuttings and drapes beautifully out of pots. It makes tiny yellow flowers.
