MTV Movie Awards' 'In Memoriam' segment mocks Ellen DeGeneres and her 'reign of terror'

Not one bit.

R1 Here. Let me rephrase:
Not one bit, BUT I do think she should still get respect for being a lesbian icon. Nothing can take that away.

That's a bit low blow. Anyway, both MTV and Ellen are pretty much has-beens anyway.

Yes, has-beans.

Whenever a social network of people turn on some person who they really don't know, I tend to treat it all with a grain of salt. Social media picks a favorite, builds them up and then tears them down.

All she really was accused of is being a bit surly.

What did she actually do? All I hear is that she was “mean”. People need to grow up.

Am I the only one who doesn't get the whole Ellen smash up? Everyone was involved with a moneymaker / pulling a great paycheck / why tear the playhouse down? The workplace can be a nightmare..... figure it out or move on. I mean, imagine what it must have been like working for......Jackie Gleason?

To the moon, R8!

Why is one person commenting over and over?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 18, 2021 2:38 PM |
Who is even watching the MTV Movie awards in 2021?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 18, 2021 2:42 PM |
That's like being criticized by Parade Magazine.

Not my lesbian icon. I remember seeing her do stand up in Santa Rosa shortly after she came out. It was PRIDE month, the venue was sold out and the audience was filled with LGBTQ supporters who wanted to love her. She was obviously in a sour mood, and informed us that she was not here to talk about "that" (when "that" was the reason for the occasion) and proceeded to do a most dull and vanilla set about shit like goldfish. At the same time, while boring us to tears she managed to be rude, dismissive and a total turn off. The "nice" and "kind" persona is obviously fake, but I wonder how she managed to maintain it for nearly two decades. The Hollywood spin machine is something to behold.

And here we have the state of our union in a nutshell, when social media collides with reality and the "influencers" (which, apparently, anyone and everyone is now an "influencer") don't like it. Not one bit. But we haven't reached the disillusionment part of social media's lifecycle, and that's when the shit will really hit the fan.
I feel sorry for Ellen. It is not easy to build a brand like Ellen's. There is a reason there are not more Ellens.
