I was born a few years after the event but I've always been interested in the event and I wondered what was it like to live through the anxiety of it?
It was a huge humanitarian crime, like Covid, and the people who caused it tried to cover it up, also like Covid.

It was really hot there. right next to the blown up containment building. And, not in a good way.

The farther away you were, the less dangerous it was for you. Kind of like Meghan and Harry.

Living on the other side of the planet we barely heard anything about it.

It's still there, waiting.

It was a horrible nuclear disaster. It caused a lot of people to be displaced (from Ukraine). I volunteered to teach English to a refugee lady who lived with 3 generations in one apartment. Her teenaged daughter fared well and could speak English well. The lady I taught was probably depressed and she would blow her nose and blood would come out. The entire family was very nice to me. I don't think I taught this lady much English, but I'd like to think I offered some cheer to her.
