Darren Starr did SATC when it was good, when everybody was talking about it and it was much in demand viewing, before it turned into the Home Shopping Channel. If he's retained any real sensibility of real life, this could be good.

Darren Star is a pretty smart and mature guy (at least in comparison with a blowhard like Ryan Murphy, who likes to pretend he's the first openly gay man in his role). So I'll cross my fingers and hope this might actually be good.

I'm also glad Michael Patrick King doesn't appear to be involved. I loved SATC during its first run, but the show always had a woeful record on LGBT issues and I don't need to see a retread of Stanford and Anthony, et al. SATC liked to pretend it was outrageous and progressive, but in hindsight it was an incredibly bougie show with incredibly bougie ideas.

I'm really looking forward to the draining pasta episode and the cut versus the uncut episode.

PS: Star's co-creator comes from MODERN FAMILY and FRASIER, so that's a pretty impressive resume.

PPS: I hate-watched Star's EMILY IN PARIS but cannot deny that it was a huge hit on Netflix.

This was already done years ago with a black gay cast in LA. Seriously, every one of the characters was a complete copy of SATC. Young, single fashionista; more dull professional type; a sex craved, no apologies character; and a sweet, awwww you guys! type.

I'm surprised it didn't get sued. I enjoyed Noah's Arc - a lot. But it was hard to get past the blatant plagiarism.

Noah's Ark was a bunch of adult gays acting like 12 year old teen girls, it was embarrassing. Oh, PLEASE make this good. As someone who turned 40, I would love something that captures our generation and issues. Let the gay not be a characture. I would love a gay 40 gay that is like a more real Brian Kinney vs. any of the charters of W of 40, which was TERRIBLE and the cast was not West of 40. They were 50's adjacent. I want to see real characters living a real life, but not so real that it's totally boring like, "Looking".

The first version of the Maupin series that ran on PBS was good enough for me, The guy who opened his refrigerator and there was a bottle of poppers chilling there made me giggle and I got the joke for the rest of the series, which was very good, The follow ups and remakes, not so much.

The TV business was great for gay men thirty years ago. And you didn’t gave to be a latinx/non-binary/tranny/lena waithe to get work. You just had to be gay. But now all these old white gays won’t retire and are only hiring the latinx/non-binary/tranny/lena waithe types to help write their shows. Regular gay dudes (white or other) can’t get a break. CUCUMBER was fascinating... but mostly awful, R66. I think I watched it on LOGO but I'm not sure.
