Seth Rogen: Parenthood Sounds Awful

Hell yes. I like sleeping in and traveling.

Seth Rogen is getting honest about not having a desire to become a father.

Appearing on The Howard Stern Show this week, the Knocked Up actor, 39, explained why he and wife Lauren Miller both don't plan on having kids. Rogen says he wouldn't be able to work as much as he would like if he also had to juggle parenting responsibilities.

"I wouldn't be able to do all this work that I like," he says. "... People are always like — it's something I think I was uncomfortable answering this before — but they were like, 'How do you do so much?' The answer is I don't have kids. ... I have nothing else to do."

As for Lauren, whom he wed in 2011: "I would say she wants kids less than I do. I could probably be talked into it; she's like no."

The Yearbook author adds that he and his wife "have so much fun."

"I don't know anyone who gets as much happiness out of their kids as we get out of our non-kids," says Rogen with a laugh. "Like, we're f---ing psyched all the time! We're laying in bed on Saturday mornings smoking weed, watching movies naked. If we had kids, we could not be f---ing doing this."

Stern, who has three kids, tells Rogen, "It's not an easy haul having kids."

"You can't be narcissistic, you have to give yourself over to parenting, and they've gotta become the priority," says Stern, 67, to which Rogen replies, "Yeah, like, I don't want that. That does not sound fun to me."

"And why?" the Neighbors actor adds, "There's enough kids out there. We need more people? Who looks at the planet right now and thinks 'You know what we need right now? More f---ing people.' That's truly a confounding thing to me."

Good for him. Live your life the way you want to, having kids is overrated.

by Anonymousreply 1May 14, 2021 1:24 AM

I'm really okay with Rogen not passing on his genes.

by Anonymousreply 2May 14, 2021 1:26 AM

Most parents that I've seen hated having kids. But that's what you were supposed to do.

by Anonymousreply 3May 14, 2021 1:27 AM

Parents say "oh, you will feel differently when you have the kids." Um, I don't want them now, and that is not a chance I'm willing to take in hopes that I MIGHT change my mind once they're born.

It has to be 100% committal from the start.

by Anonymousreply 4May 14, 2021 1:30 AM

He's 39, the ship's already sailed.

by Anonymousreply 5May 14, 2021 1:33 AM

He’s right. I wish everyone thought it through before bringing another child into the world.

by Anonymousreply 6May 14, 2021 1:39 AM

For some reason I thought he was older, I guess because I associate him with James Franco.

by Anonymousreply 7May 14, 2021 1:39 AM

there is climate change and over population.

by Anonymousreply 8May 14, 2021 1:41 AM

I hate to say this because I have always loathed him, but he actually looks surprisingly good in that photo.

There must be some sort of beard length horizon where once you pass it "slob" becomes "distinguished".

Men's biological clock starts around 50. You can prolong adolescence only so long. He will do a Clooney and have kids later.

by Anonymousreply 11May 14, 2021 1:56 AM

It looks like he's keeping the weight off. Good for him.

by Anonymousreply 12May 14, 2021 2:04 AM

I believe the children are our future

Teach them well and let them lead the way

Show them all the beauty they possess inside

Give them a sense of pride to make it easier

Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

by Anonymousreply 13May 14, 2021 2:07 AM

What does the wife do? Have a job?

Most women want kids. (could be a signal of an upcoming divorce)

by Anonymousreply 14May 14, 2021 2:09 AM

He's so proud of his weed use.

I appreciate that he's honest about not having kids for the very simple, understandable reason that they cramp your lifestyle.

I applaud Seth and his wife being vocal about not wanting kids. They have my respect. Kids are overrated and expensive. They will definitely cramp your lifestyle. No thanks!!

by Anonymousreply 19May 14, 2021 3:37 AM

I like kids. Talking people into having them is just plain wrong. If people do not want to be parents and have kids, good for them. We are running out of resources and their is Climate Change.

by Anonymousreply 20May 14, 2021 3:44 AM

I’m glad I had an abortion!

by Anonymousreply 21May 14, 2021 3:48 AM

I'm glad they're honest about it. On several occasions, in my youth, I saw a number of parents, act as if their children were a nuisance. The parents seemed to be belittling and overly critical towards their children. And God knows, more often than not, I too, was belittled by my father. Good for Seth.

by Anonymousreply 22May 14, 2021 4:13 AM

He's only 39?

I'm not trying to be insulting, I'm serious. He was only 26 in Pineapple Express? That can't be true.

by Anonymousreply 23May 14, 2021 4:17 AM

Good for him that’s how I feel. You have to really want to do it to be a good parent.

by Anonymousreply 24May 14, 2021 4:18 AM

Kids are a longterm stock that you can't dump if the value plummets. No thanks.

by Anonymousreply 25May 14, 2021 6:10 PM

"Men's biological clock starts around 50."

No, after 35, sperm deteriorates. Sperm banks only take supermodel from the under 35s.

One of the greatest things about today's society is that people are no longer shamed into getting married too early or having kids if they decide they don't want them.

The world would be a better place if the people who don't want children aren't pressured into having them. And are partnered with others who understand and respect that as a firm boundary before marriage.

by Anonymousreply 27May 14, 2021 6:31 PM

I remember this interview Sarah Michelle Gellar did where she was asked why she and Freddie waited almost 10 years after being married to have kids. She basically said, you have to be ready to be selfless and give up a lot of things for a baby and they waited until they were ready to do that.

by Anonymousreply 28May 14, 2021 6:41 PM

Agreed that men and women should really not be starting bio-families after 40. The risks of autism, schizophrenia, and other potential health complications increase exponentially when either parent is over 40. That includes MEN over 40.

by Anonymousreply 29May 14, 2021 6:44 PM

It's probably too later for her. Her eggs are hard boiled by now.

by Anonymousreply 30May 14, 2021 6:48 PM

Good. No one should have children unless they desperately want them. If they’re even halfway sure, they shouldn’t.

Although.

I have a friend who never wanted kids (although he was very good with them and I thought he’d be a natural). At age 50, he and his second wife shocked me by having a child. He’s now a stay at home father and is the wonderful dad I always thought he would be. It warms my cynical black heart to see.

Not that I’d ever advise someone so previously averse. You never know.

by Anonymousreply 31May 14, 2021 7:08 PM

The best part of being gay is no risk of an accident. If I were straight, I would've gotten a vasectomy the second I could afford it. If I were a woman, I'd buy Plan B in bulk (since America says women cant decide their own fertility).

by Anonymousreply 32May 14, 2021 7:14 PM

[quote] At age 50, he and his second wife shocked me by having a child.

Older parents make better parents, IMO. They are more stable and mature. I cringe seeing the younger end of 20somethings (or 18 - 24) with children. No, just no.

by Anonymousreply 33May 14, 2021 7:15 PM

Did he lose a bunch of weight?

by Anonymousreply 34May 14, 2021 7:17 PM

People like Seth Rogen are the ones who should procreate instead of trash like the Duggars. But I agree with is opinion about children, too much work, and not worth the trouble.

by Anonymousreply 35May 14, 2021 7:33 PM

He’ll end up having kids with his younger second wife.

by Anonymousreply 36May 14, 2021 7:49 PM

He sounded sooo coked up during his interview with Howard. Loves the sound of his own voice.

by Anonymousreply 37May 14, 2021 7:53 PM

Well at least he is honest about this rather than playing to the media or public gallery.

by Anonymousreply 38May 14, 2021 8:19 PM

Her boobies appear perky, intimidating and globelike.

by Anonymousreply 39May 14, 2021 9:32 PM

We need more people to speak out about the joy of not having kids. I am a woman who never felt that urge to have them. The world would be better if more people chose to be child free.

by Anonymousreply 40May 14, 2021 9:43 PM

[quote] We need more people to speak out about the joy of not having kids.

Well, that's one thing the younger people did well. They saw those poor, frazzled devils before them and said, Nuh-uh.

by Anonymousreply 41May 14, 2021 9:46 PM

He looks good in that picture. Not near as ugly and stinky looking as he normally does.
