I can say, from personal experience, David Letterman was a massive asshole. If there were new accusations, he would be cancelled. The main person that came forward last time, that got traction, was one of his former writers. The person even interviewed him and talked about it with him. He is not in the same league as Ellen where scores of people who have worked with her and dealt with her all came forward at the exact same time. Some of them even cited comments from YEARS before.

I don't want to say Ellen was targeted. I'll say that Ellen's producer getting into trouble caused blowback on her since her name is on the show and many people believe that she knew what was happening and did nothing to stop it. Once that Pandora's Box was open, nothing was going to close it.

The very first CD set I bought was a recording of Ellen: The Funny Thing Is ... I also remember convincing my family to let me watch "adult" TV and see a show called, "Open House" that Ellen was on many, many years ago. For my birthday I asked my dad if he'd take me to see, "Mr. Wrong." I was the weird kid at school reading, "My Point: And I Do Have One ..." I watched, "These Friends of Mine"/"Ellen's" coming out episode with my whole family as a little kid. They were pretty progressive.
