No, seriously, what's left to cancel there? I literally haven't heard of William Hurt since I was a kid in the 80s when he starred in that Big Chill movie.

That's ridiculous rumor considering Hurt has already played Thunderbolt Ross in 5 films (Black Widow being the fifth). Dreyfus' Contessa character is an already established villain in the comics.

People who were not really alive prior to the 90s don't understand that calling the cops and telling them your boyfriend or husband raped you in the 80s or before was very likely to have gotten nowhere. Especially if you were having sex with them on a regular basis, lived with them, etc.

It went just slightly better than being a hooker and saying you were raped, but not much. They were still shrugging at obvious domestic violence then. They weren't going to expend effort proving your case.

Some of these allegations that come out decades later lack proof for that very reason.
