Tasteful Friends, a Santa Ynez Compound
Only $29 million. How about it DLers? Let’s pour our $$$ as a group and purchase this 550+ acres compound which already comes with main structure/ big house and adjacent spaces for conferencing needs (some of us DL’ers unfortunately still have to work), and recreational areas. Maybe some of our resident DL decorating mavens can spruce up this perperty which looks as though it was last spruced up after Ray Kroc (of McDonald’s fame, a former owner) had died.
I see a lot of potential here. We’ll keep the alpaca farm on the property, but we’ll build multiple Olympic size pools to be watched over by hot cabana boys and lifeguards. Right now the property is named Circle K Ranch, but I’m sure DL’ers can come up with a more befitting name for our community needs.

This would be the DL equivalent of Jonestown within six months.

It only takes one person to make the entire compound smell like fish.

Build a sweat lodge and they will come?
The landscape is lovely, but for a fraction of that I could buy a cortijo with a beautiful ancient house, massive olive oil and grazing land, and knowledge that the surrounding properties, however distant, would be protected as they are. And with a huge sum leftover, buy a townhouse and travel anywhere I pleased without a thought of expense.

Is it close enough to annex Neverland Ranch?

Will thr ghost of Michael Jackson haunt it?

R4 IIRC from the trial, Neverland Ranch is in Los Olivos, which is less than 10 miles from Santa Ynez. As for annexing it, I guess we’ll have to spend extra $$$ to raze it completely, the remnant smells of Jesus juice would be a concern too.

Don't you DARE mention tearing down this historical burger-barn honoring American Indian culture.
It reeks of authenticity and respect.

I think we might end up in a bidding war with the Mexican cartel moving north as people flee California.
It's all part of climate change, like the armadillos in Missouri and the alligators in Maryland.
And you know what "bidding war" means to these enthusiastic, motivated house-and-property purchasers nowadays.

That’s a lot of pension checks to pool—I’m guessing there’d be lots of bunk beds in those 52 bedrooms.

No, no bunk beds unless you’re into them. There’s enough acreage to build new residences. Also, many community residents wouldn’t be there full-time or they’d be further south in LA for their whoring needs. They’ll mainly just go back to the ranch for R&R or when their rent boys deplete their cash.
