Sometimes some relationships stick with you your entire life because you connected with them on so many levels and had a genuine friendship with them, in addition to the attraction and love. I worked with, then spent five years loving/living with, someone back in the mid aughts and although we ended up breaking up, it's never broken our connection. Sometimes we'd go 6-9 months without talking, but we always circled back to each other. We still do. We can spend several weeks to months not communicating and pick up exactly where we left off. There are so few connections i've had in my life where the other person really gets me (and i get them). i would say i have probably 4 very close relationships with family and friends that i would be absolutely devastated if lost.
