Madonna ▸ Hot 100 Chart History (1983 - 2015)
Interesting. You have to hand it to her for her longevity if nothing else.
Some of these songs that were huge hits are now completely forgotten.
And then there's "Rescue Me" which I think is one of her best songs, and it barely made a dent on the charts.

Awwww that sad little barely charting “Bitch I’m Madonna” at the end is like a cry for relevance.

Rescue Me was the second of the two new tracks from The Immaculate Collection to be released, and she didn't film a video for it, so it never gets shown much.
In the UK Crazy For You was re-released after Justify My Love and made #1. Rescue Me was released a couple of months later and made #3 and then Holiday was re-released with the cd featuring other singles that weren't on YIC and that made #5. The third time it was in the top 10 in 8 years.

Not another thread about this has-been nostalgia act.

R3 It fits. What is DL itself if not a has-been nostalgia act?

Why didn’t she release “into the groove” as a single, it would’ve easily been another number one for her.

Into The Groove is her best selling single in the UK.

I think her later discography ironically became kind of diluted, because her later releases including some hits became more famous for their dance-remix versions than their actual single ones, and they became more well-known and popular with nightclub circuit fans than the general pop music-buying public who bought more of her earlier songs to a greater degree. Then there was the whole expanding of first Napster, then Apple iTunes, Spotify, etc. I agree, for longevity, I can't think of another female artist besides Diana Ross (including her Supremes years) who had such a string of pop hits throughout a generation.

To be 62 and have all those hits under your belt but now be relevant as a typewriter… my heart hurts for her. ☹️

She had 38 top 10 singles. Most were legit hits. And you could fill a few greatest hits CDs with amazing songs that didnt chart or werent released as singles.
I wish she'd used her theater tour in 2019 to feature some well loved fan songs or even personal favs from the catalogue ...instead she used it as an excuse to do 14 songs off her Madame X album
