Tom Cruise is twisted and sick

Does anyone see what i see?

Scientology has done his ego no favours.

I always saw a dark rage and something twisted in him. People seem to love this guy and i wonder if anyone here agrees with me. I doubt it somehow.

by Anonymousreply 244May 15, 2021 11:05 PM

I agree - the fact that he doesn’t seem to care about Shelly Miscavige is telling.

by Anonymousreply 1May 9, 2021 1:02 PM

Yes, there's something tightly wound in him. Something creepy and strange so I wouldn't be surprised if something serious is lurking beneath which is part of why he latches so much onto Scientology (of all things - yuck).

by Anonymousreply 2May 9, 2021 1:04 PM

What specifically prompted this ramble, OP?

by Anonymousreply 3May 9, 2021 1:07 PM

He's not intelligent enough to be particularly sick and twisted

by Anonymousreply 4May 9, 2021 1:12 PM

R3 I have always thought it. Especially after Vanilla Sky for some reason. But i saw the ads for his appearance on Graham Norton to promote another movie. It really bothers me that he just acts like he isnt a sick scientologist freak and takes more money from the general public to feed back into that cult.

by Anonymousreply 5May 9, 2021 1:14 PM

Being sick and twisted has little to do with intelligence. Serial killers as a group have lower than average tested IQ, for example.

by Anonymousreply 6May 9, 2021 1:18 PM

1) think about it, you made the leader of your "religion" your best buddy which in itself is obviously unethical, inappropriate and improper including from the "religious" leader himself (what church/faith/religion leader has a best friend? that they place above all others?) and doing all kinds of non religious activities together for years...

2) the wife of your "best buddy" hasn't been seen in public for 15 years and counting! nowhere! THE WIFE of the leader! who was everywhere and anywhere back in the day at cult events and BOOM! nothing!.. and yes, she was at that ridiculous over the top ultimate butt kissing ever event of the surprise birthday party on that cult yacht for cruise back in the day! sidenote: what kind of person, no matter what, no matter who they are, would think that their religion/church/faith giving them a expensive birthday party is normal and okay? if not truly bizarre?!...

anyway back to shelley., so the wife of your "best friend" who presumably was your friend as well goes awol and you meaning cruise thinks nothing of it? imagine being best friends with someone and friends with his wife and then BOOM! you never see her in 15 years and you meaning cruise don't even think to ASK where she is? or WHY you cruise can't see her? and why she doesn't want to see HIM/cruise???...

what MONUMENTAL WHOPPER OF A LIE TALE could miscavige have told ole tommy?... "tom, shelley is so so busy, working, working, working you know KSW (keep scientology working) and wogs and sp's and pt's are trying to get to her, she is happy and needs to be where she is indefinitely!" OR IS IT? "tom, you know and i know what shelley did (allegedly without his authorization, shelley had changed some work orders and paperwork! how dare she! (sarcasm)... so she is being punished and is going to work work work in private! i know you understand!"...

the idea and fact that cruise has got away with not even being ASKED these questions for literally decades now by ANYONE defies belief! not to mention the documented butt kissing for over 3 decades now, not to mention abandoning Suri (besides the court ordered child support) for i believe going on 10 years now, not to mention never being asked about the abuse in every definition of the word abuse, while the ass kissing of him has been going on on, and on and on and on! it's mindblowing shocking that he has gotten away with it this long!....

yes, he still makes money for hollyweird and of course everyone loves him on a film set, and he never brings it up while he's working, and it's none of my business, that's his personal business and life and well, he's so nice to little ole me (co-stars) so there you go!???

and yes, soon he'll be doing the whole sickening late night talk show butt kissing circuit to promote top gun 2! shame on those hosts too!...

by Anonymousreply 7May 9, 2021 1:18 PM

R7 That's a rant and a half. All very true. They interviewed women to be his wife. Thats a crazy fact too. He turns up on set with a crowd of Scientology fucks surrounding him all the time. He will be (basically already is) the leader of an abusive cult who all believe he will save the world like in one of his movies. I assume thats the plot to most of his movies. I don't watch them. I love Graham Norton but when i saw that he was making a fuss over Tom i was disappointed and annoyed.

by Anonymousreply 8May 9, 2021 1:28 PM

I don’t know enough, does Tom equate his success as a celebrity superstar actor with Scientology and see them so intertwined that he’ll never forsake the religion for fear that it would end his life as reigning actor?

by Anonymousreply 9May 9, 2021 1:30 PM

R8... graham norton used to make fun and insult cruise and scientology all the time BEFORE he had him on his show, now, cruise has been on quite a number of times in fact, just recently a few weeks ago and the ass kissing has been in full force matching the ass kissing of fallon, kimmel, corden, etc...

R9: cruise when he has mentioned scientology (on his own of course, since he actually bans anyone, anywhere, anytime from asking him ANYTHING about scientology, hence why he hasn't done a REAL interview in at least 10 years) has regularly said that his success and everything good in life (you know minus those 3 wives come and gone and no relationship with Suri!) is because of scientology.... he credits scientology with everything good and his success...

the thing is? he was a star and then a superstar with top gun BEFORE HE HAD EVER HEARD OF SCIENTOLOGY! of course, scientology has brainwashed him into thinking they are the reason for his success and it's also a advertisement to entice others to join of course..

by Anonymousreply 10May 9, 2021 1:37 PM

Didn't the cops investigate and confirm that Shelly Miscavige was ok? I just think they'd probably be all over that if she'd really disappeared given that so many people are concerned.

by Anonymousreply 11May 9, 2021 1:38 PM

I'd fuck him.

by Anonymousreply 12May 9, 2021 1:40 PM

R9 Scientology certainly sees his career as a tool to feed the cult. Their celebrity center should point to that fact. He wouldn't give up the cult because he is their God and he wouldn't stop (clearly) his fucking career because he is a role model to all the cult members for being such a shiny success.

Scientology is a cult not a religion.

And...WHERE THE FUCK IS SHELLY??? He knows.

by Anonymousreply 13May 9, 2021 1:40 PM

He’s not someone I’d want to spend time with... like a hike or car ride.

Has any reporter ever asked him point blank about why he hasn’t seen his daughter Suri or about Shelly?

by Anonymousreply 14May 9, 2021 1:40 PM

He’s riddled with learning disabilities and a god complex. Not a winning combination.

by Anonymousreply 15May 9, 2021 1:40 PM

Brooke Shields, dis you?

by Anonymousreply 16May 9, 2021 1:41 PM

Americans deeply overestimate the importance of Hollywood and celebrity. Entertainment accounts for 4% of our economy, and that include bowling alleys, laser tag, and the entire "industry". The cult on celebrity in Hollywood is more insular and unhealthy than $cieno.

It's an idiot Candyland where Jesters like Cruise are treated as kings, while the real kings on Wall Street use and discard whole trash pretty boys like him. He's hung on a long time. He's a fighter. I admire him, but he has no sense of reality.

by Anonymousreply 17May 9, 2021 1:42 PM

The second he is no longer a box office draw -he will be dropped as #2 scientologist.

by Anonymousreply 18May 9, 2021 1:45 PM

It shocking with as many people Scientology has supposedly cured of dyslexia that they never commercialized that as a separate business and made billions on desperate parents who would see the Tom Cruise commercials and drop tens of thousands to help their kids.

by Anonymousreply 19May 9, 2021 1:46 PM

R18, who else do they have? Revolta and Kirstie Alley seem like the most high profile they have at the moment other than Cruise. Scientology's image hasn't been doing that great in recent years.

by Anonymousreply 20May 9, 2021 1:49 PM

R11 In August 2013, actress Leah Remini filed a missing person report regarding Miscavige with the LAPD. Within a few days of receiving the report, the LAPD located Miscavige, and determined that she was not actually missing, so the case was closed.

She hasn't been seen by anyone except the LAPD apparently. It still makes no sense why she has vanished from her husbands side after going behind his back. If they did see her it was yeeears ago now it seems.

by Anonymousreply 21May 9, 2021 1:59 PM

^^ but how do we know it was REALLY her? ^^

by Anonymousreply 22May 9, 2021 2:01 PM

The LAPD is notoriously in the pocket of C0$ though. They probably just paid them off.

by Anonymousreply 23May 9, 2021 2:03 PM

R18... besides cruise, travolta and alley (how are their careers doing and personal life again?) they have anne archer, beck, and the voice of bart simpson, nancy cartwright, a high level OT (operating thetan) but who has to still wear glasses! talk about a lie literally on her face and she doesn't get it!.. catherine bell is another one in this insidious thing and a few more b and c and d listers..

interesting? how none of these celebrities EVER EVER THINK? ANY religion/church/faith even HAVING a "celebrity center" is ridiculous and insane!....

R19... the story of cruise alleged dyslexia is in itself a 'story" ... he has changed it so much over the years i don't think he can keep it straight! he had it, but scientology cured it and only they could cure it, he had it and still has it but scientology and only scientology gave him the tools to deal with it, then it was he never had it but was misdiagnosed, then he never had it but had some kind of learning disability like attention deficit disorder, then it was he was simply a average to below average intelligent person and student per his teachers, ......

R11... the lapd allegedly looked into where shelley was due ONLY to leah remini filing a missing person's report on her.... NO ONE besides the lapd was told where she is, or were able to see her or talk to her... leah and others were told she was fine, and nothing more. who knows if they even DID talk to her or if it was even SHelley! when remini asked for more information, she was told it was none of her business because she wasn't family, then she was told it was "confidential", then she was told that the paperwork wasn't finished and when it was done she could ask for all of it and that was years ago and nothing was ever done about it! NEVER MIND? the person in charge of the "investigation" was a lieutenant dawson, who in his free time GAVE SPEECHES at schools and elsewhere PRAISING scientology's efforts! the LAPD has regularly taken money and showed up for publicity events for scientology! the entire department or at least those with power are in utter cahoots with the cult OR the STUPIDEST MOST CLUELESS AUTHORITIES EVER?!..

R14.. cruise as i have stated before ACTUALLY bans anyone, anywhere, anytime from asking him about scientology, Suri, or ANYthing Personal! that is why the last interview the last NO HOLDS barred anything can be asked of him interview was for PLAYBOY when he was still married to katie holmes... other than that interview, nothing in years now and shockingly the stupid media who he needs more than they need him agrees to his demands! it would be like someone being the public face of the KKK and never being asked about it!

R13 according to top scientology investigative reporter TONY ORTEGA (www.tonyortega.com), SHELLEY has been at the cult's very very private secretive compound near lake arrowhead california for 15 years and counting...

by Anonymousreply 24May 9, 2021 2:03 PM

R18 They cling to Tom like a life raft. He will be the leader of the cult if he stops acting. Also, has he really been working that much in recent years anyway? R10 Now that makes me suspicious that the scientology freaks have been harrassing Norton to change his tune on Tom.. Or he is just a sweet sell out. I guess i shouldn't expect Norton to fight for anything or stand by his views on that show. It's his job to promote. I don't want to hate him.. not yet

by Anonymousreply 25May 9, 2021 2:06 PM

R22 and R23 EXACTLY! That is the only "report" of them doing any investigation on the matter. Scientology want to prosecute Leah Remini now for apparently making false claims. Yet they haven't? What a load of steaming shit that it. They would do anything they could to hurt her so why aren't they?

Corrupt tax exempt cult !

by Anonymousreply 26May 9, 2021 2:10 PM

These weirdos have gone quiet for a few years now. Ever since the Katie Holmes divorce. Almost like they were neutered. I do think they had been poised (in their minds) to "take over" Hollywood and expand their influence but the couch jumping incident and Tom's erratic behavior embarrassed them and then the high profile exits of some of their believers starting showing the chinks in the cult. Katie's high profile flight and escape was the final nail. Miscavige has been hiding out somewhere for awhile now. Cruise never talks about it like he was previously.

by Anonymousreply 27May 9, 2021 2:12 PM

Suri Cruise is almost an adult. How old is she now? 15? 16? When was the last time he visited his daughter? When was the last time Nicole Kidman and her kids were seen in public? Do they still stay in touch? If you need confirmation that Cruise is a dark and twisted individual, you just have to look at his family and personal relationships.

by Anonymousreply 28May 9, 2021 2:19 PM

Tom Cruise and Graham Norton? How did that come about? Tom is so fucking homophobic and Norton is, well, flaming. What did they talk about?

by Anonymousreply 29May 9, 2021 2:21 PM

It would be an interesting twist if when Suri came of age she returned to the fold of Scientology.

by Anonymousreply 30May 9, 2021 2:22 PM

Scientology hand picked Katie for him. The had wife interviews ffs!

R29 I think that is why i was so annoyed with it. It's beyond fakery now. It's got an evil vibe about the whole thing.

by Anonymousreply 31May 9, 2021 2:27 PM

I watched him on his latest Graham Norton appearance and almost had to to turn it off. God, the ego on this guy is incredible. I've never seen someone with such an over-inflated sense of self.

by Anonymousreply 32May 9, 2021 2:32 PM

R32, he's basically the Co$ Jesus figure. They kiss his ass. They invested lot in his being a star and using that to sway public opinion to favor and hopefully get new recruits. It backfired spectacularly. Good for Katie Holmes. I'd sure love to know what she has on them and Tom.

by Anonymousreply 33May 9, 2021 2:43 PM

Are noted bisexual swingers Will and Jada Smith part of the cult?

by Anonymousreply 34May 9, 2021 2:43 PM

I think they toyed with it R34. Remember back in the 90's when Tom and Katie, Jada and Will, and Becks and Posh were all "besties" and "hanging out" together? That was a push to get converts. You notice they are never photographed together anymore. The Beckhams hightailed it back home.

by Anonymousreply 35May 9, 2021 2:47 PM

"I'd sure love to know what she has on them and Tom."

Her dad is an experienced divorce attorney. I bet he told her write down every tidbit of information she could get on these cultists.

by Anonymousreply 36May 9, 2021 2:48 PM

Cruise was still married to Kidman in the 90s. The Will Smith and Beckham friendship/recruiting happened later. Mid 2000s?

by Anonymousreply 37May 9, 2021 2:51 PM

R30... if I was cruise, i would be more worried about when suri hits 18 and she's a adult and the stories she could tell!

amazingly? cruise doesn't care or worry about this?....suri is now 15 and cruise allegedly hasn't seen in over 8 years and counting!

for those, who dispute this, i say where is the photo or video by ANYONE in all of these years of cruise with Suri? where are the photos and videos by anyone of cruise arriving or leaving anywhere near where Suri was, is, lives now? and of course, the fact his cult does have a disconnection policy, the fact that when cruise WAS married to holmes he had no problem parading suri in public and that includes on film sets, add in the fact that katie holmes no matter how she feels about the man now, simply for the sake of suri's peace of mind, would have told the media and the world that cruise does see her and is a doting father and instead? we have crickets!....

all of this leads to the conclusion cruise besides the court appointed child support has indeed abandoned Suri....

by Anonymousreply 38May 9, 2021 2:54 PM

That recently R37? Wow, seems like a lot longer.

by Anonymousreply 39May 9, 2021 2:54 PM

No pic, OP? His descriptions in this thread make him seem familiar to me...somehow...

by Anonymousreply 40May 9, 2021 2:55 PM

Ok, ok, ok, I’ve been waiting years to tell this tale. I was in Ohio at my sisters college graduation while Tom Cruise was filming Rain Man. We were walking around the city, forgot which it was, Cincinnati I guess and my family and I were walking down the city street and I step aside when I notice some movie trailers, my sister said, Tom Cruise is filming a movie here, blah blah. So I’m looking between two movie trailers and I see Dustin Hoffman standing in the street having make up applied. I was shocked at how very tiny Mr. Hoffman is, I was really caught off guard because the big fat woman applying makeup to him towered over him. Anyhow, just at that moment, I think my brother steps up along side of me and I turn to him to say, “oh my god look how small Dustin Hoffman is”......well, it was NOT my brother, I was looking directly at a smiling Tom Cruise we were inches apart. But, after what I said Tom Cruises face changes from a big wide smile to a nasty glare, he looks me up and down and then I realize he too is really small and I’m so embarrassed I laugh and then he gives me the nastiest look, turns and walks away.

I wonder what would have happened if I didn’t open my big stupid mouth ....would we have gone back to his trailer and fucked? I would have had to ditch my family and freak them out but how cool would a quickie with Tom Cruise back in the late eighties been?! I was 16 at the time and cute, but I looked older and carried myself well, to a stranger I looked like someone in their twenties. Funny thing was Tom Cruise bought a house near Paul Newman’s Westport, CT home and that’s where I was from, about five minutes away, I could have been Tom Cruises little fuck toy on a regular basis had I not opened my big fucking mouth. Sigh. Discuss ladies.

by Anonymousreply 41May 9, 2021 2:56 PM

R41 We are discussing other matters Sir. He was not interested in you so forget it.

by Anonymousreply 42May 9, 2021 3:12 PM

Well I thought it was kind of relevant and yes, yes he was interested in me, mam.

by Anonymousreply 43May 9, 2021 3:14 PM

R43... why would you think he was "interested" in you? i mean you two WERE on a film set where he was working after all... a smile your way to a stranger that he probably did 24/7?

by Anonymousreply 44May 9, 2021 3:15 PM

I was walking past the set, he left the set and came over and stood right next to me, there was no one else around we were standing among scaffolding....Oh forget it, you bitches are so tired,.....look everyone Vivian Vance!

by Anonymousreply 45May 9, 2021 3:18 PM

Keep holding onto that fantasy "Gilligan". He was more likely just going to try to cult your ass and then realised you are not worthy.

by Anonymousreply 46May 9, 2021 3:19 PM

How do you even know he left the set to come over to you if you thought he was your brother until you turned to see his shit eating grin? Maybe he thought YOU were someone else. And you even convinced yourself he would fuck you more than once. Wow!

by Anonymousreply 47May 9, 2021 3:25 PM

Why so nasty to Gilligan? He just told a funny little story. What’s your damage?

by Anonymousreply 48May 9, 2021 3:27 PM

Wow, why are you guys so mean to Gilligan? Let him have is nice teenager celebrity fantasy.

by Anonymousreply 49May 9, 2021 3:28 PM

48....Thank you Dawn, we miss you soooo much.

by Anonymousreply 50May 9, 2021 3:32 PM

I don't think Tom Cruise will be on Graham Norton for a good while. The most recent episode was so badly received it was trending on twitter.

by Anonymousreply 51May 9, 2021 3:34 PM

They’re envious Tom Cruise didn’t try and pick them up. It’s kinda obvious isn’t it?

by Anonymousreply 52May 9, 2021 3:35 PM

I still think Tom Cruise is hot, even with the the plastic surgery

by Anonymousreply 53May 9, 2021 3:37 PM

No Gilligan, not even our most deranged, horny DLers would fuck that lunatic. Even DLers hopefully have some standards.

by Anonymousreply 54May 9, 2021 3:39 PM

I wonder if he's twisted enough to suck himself off.

by Anonymousreply 55May 9, 2021 3:42 PM

Dear Reply Number 54.....no dear, DLers do not have any standards, are you new here? Sweet little Peach.

by Anonymousreply 56May 9, 2021 3:44 PM

Some of us do. I wouldn't touch that manic little midget even when he was young. I always got major creep vibes from him.

by Anonymousreply 57May 9, 2021 3:45 PM

I have to get out of bed and go push the button that makes my coffee....any other comments before I begin my day? I don’t want any of you loves to feel ignored.

by Anonymousreply 58May 9, 2021 3:48 PM

I am annoyed Tom didn't say anything to you Gilligan. I want to know why he was looking at you. Another thing that stuck out in your story was the way his face changed so fast. That is a sure sign of a faker and gives me flashes of all the psychos i have met. Once as a kid there was a pedophile fuck (clichè church pedo) who kept trying to lure my sister and i into the bushes to "watch birds" with him. He was a short old man with binoculars and a huge smile on his face all the time. He must have tried 3 or 4 times over a few months. When he wouldnt stop trying to take my sister one day i angrily yelled NO and his face changed so fast into an evil, dark expression that exposed his true colors. It was shocking as a 6 year old and stuck with me. That's what i pictured from your description of Tom. Their true nature doesnt take much to come out.

by Anonymousreply 59May 9, 2021 3:59 PM

Other than Mission Impossible his A list career seems over. The Mummy was a giant flop and being in a reboot, sequel whatever of Top Gun seems desperate. The days when Kubrick, Scorsese and Spielberg wanted to work with him are long gone. Most filmgoers seem fine if they never see another movie from him.

by Anonymousreply 60May 9, 2021 3:59 PM

R51 I only saw an ad on tv for the interview. I was sickened by that alone. So what are they saying about it?

by Anonymousreply 61May 9, 2021 4:03 PM

[quote]Does Tom equate his success as a celebrity superstar actor with Scientology and see them so intertwined that he’ll never forsake the religion for fear that it would end his life as reigning actor?

I haven't read this entire thread, so I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but another interpretation of the situation is that the Scientologists "have something" on Cruise, some sort of information about him -- whether that he's gay, or whatever -- that supposedly would have destroyed his career if it ever got out. And this is why he will never leave and or disavow that "religion" -- i.e., cult. Of course, it's also possible that both things are true, that Cruise does credit his success to Scientology but they also have information they could use to blackmail him.

by Anonymousreply 62May 9, 2021 4:09 PM

59....i get the sense he just wanted to see my reaction at seeing a big celebrity. I did feel at the time his reaction was too emotional, too much disgust for me when he could have easily made a smart, snarky comment instead - he was looking me up and down really intensely as if trying to find something wrong with me, funny thing is I was a spitting image for actor Henry Thomas (ET) so growing up i had to constantly put up with people thinking I was him, maybe he thought I was him.

Beep! Coffee is ready

by Anonymousreply 63May 9, 2021 4:10 PM

Oh ps. 59. sorry about the creepy pedo bird watcher, good thing you had big balls at that age to stick up for your sister! Bravo

by Anonymousreply 64May 9, 2021 4:12 PM

You can love the art but not the artist. He made great movies over the years especially the early years. And who cares what “religion “ he belongs to or gives his money to? Michael Jackson was creepy but still made good music. That’s all celebrities owe us.

by Anonymousreply 65May 9, 2021 4:13 PM

R66 Do they even celebrate Mother’s Day in Australia and is it the same date?

by Anonymousreply 68May 9, 2021 4:56 PM

[quote] the Scientologists "have something" on Cruise, some sort of information about him -- whether that he's gay, or whatever -- that supposedly would have destroyed his career if it ever got out.

Maybe, they supposedly do a lot of confessionals. But he’s way too enthusiastic about Sci for someone who s worried about blackmail. Remember the video he did for some new level scam? his speech was incoherent. He loved it, whatever it was, he certainly couldn’t explain it. And he’s not that good an actor.

by Anonymousreply 69May 9, 2021 5:04 PM

R68 Uhh yes we have mothers day. It was yesterday the 9th. Weird question

by Anonymousreply 70May 9, 2021 5:19 PM

R68 I thought the better question was why did the school sent these to her...and with such a generic message attached that sounds like they sent flowers to all the mothers. What kind of money do they have to send flowers like that?

by Anonymousreply 71May 9, 2021 5:23 PM

R67 Ohh shut it Tom!

by Anonymousreply 72May 9, 2021 5:23 PM

R79 Well it is wholly an American invention and a Hallmark holiday.

by Anonymousreply 73May 9, 2021 5:26 PM

[quote] Uhh yes we have mothers day. It was yesterday the 9th. Weird question

It’s not weird. It’s a holiday on an arbitrary date promoted by florists and greeting card companies. No reason for it to be observed internationally. Especially not where it occurs in autumn when here it is very much a spring event.

by Anonymousreply 74May 9, 2021 5:27 PM

R73 And us Australians are drowning in American culture

by Anonymousreply 75May 9, 2021 5:30 PM

It's weird he doesn't talk to Suri.

And the way he broke up with Nicole was very weird. Just stopped talking to her and said "You know what's wrong" anytime she asked.

by Anonymousreply 76May 9, 2021 5:31 PM

I wouldn’t kick him out of bed

by Anonymousreply 77May 9, 2021 5:33 PM

I agree with OP, he is twisted and sick, although I think it is Scientology that has made him that way, I suspect he wasnt always like that, at least not as bad as he is now.

by Anonymousreply 78May 9, 2021 5:34 PM

Why would Australian take up something as obscure and false as Mother’s Day of all things. I give them much more credit then that.

by Anonymousreply 79May 9, 2021 5:35 PM

Could we stop bitching about Mother's Day and get back to psychotic Tom?

by Anonymousreply 80May 9, 2021 5:36 PM

Tom still makes a lot of money overseas. Scientology itself has a LOT of money and deploys it to gain power in many areas. Supposedly a top cop in LAPD is a Scientologist. As for one's personality, it isn't done any favors when COS worships you if you seem to be a source of money and fame. Like most religions, it also doesn't help one's intellect to "have faith" in absurd theories of existence. I'd feel sorry for all of them if their beliefs weren't so destructive.

Tom Cruise has given me the creeps for years. I haven't sought out any of his films in ages. Ever since he went bananas with both Matt Lauer and Oprah I just gave the heck up on the man because both of those interviews disturbed me somehow. Because of the generation I am from, I was like- the dude from Top Gun lost his flipping marbles in a stone cold fashion and I'm kinda scared.

Y'all know about how Dolly Parton has a husband of a great many years named Carl Dean? He has stayed as far out of the public eye as any man every could for decades. Jane Fonda has a nice story about Dolly and Carl which dates back to when she was visiting them prior to going on a road trip with Dolly Parton in order to research her role in "The Dollmaker" t.v. movie. It's a cute story that Jane Fonda has shared in interviews and even in her own memoir. She asks Carl Dean about the first time he met Dolly Parton and he almost fell off his chair speaking of how nice she was and her beauty and big banging figure.

Now imagine if Tom Cruise spoke of Shelly Miscavige in a public forum such as an interview or what have you just the once like how Jane Fonda did with Carl Dean. That would be it! No one would be wondering for ever soo long if Shelly Miscavige was still alive. But, Tom Cruise can't do that because his BFF and cult leader more than likely killed his own wife or exiled her someplace crappy where she's probably malnourished and God knows what else. Man's sick and his BFF is too. Screw them both!

Scientologists are such fucking whackos they almost make Mormons seem normal. Almost.

by Anonymousreply 84May 9, 2021 6:22 PM

I always thought Cruise was ugly and weird. He also seems incredibly dumb, gullible, arrogant, and has that obnoxious, aggressive, fake laugh that's creepy as hell. There's a reason Christian Bale based his "American Psycho" character on Cruise.

by Anonymousreply 85May 9, 2021 6:25 PM

What a sick cult that keeps children from seeing their mothers or fathers.

by Anonymousreply 86May 9, 2021 6:25 PM

Christian Bale said he based his American Psycho character on Tom, saying he smiles with his mouth but not his eyes. He has a point. There is something wrong with him, he hasn't seen Suri since 2013...

Notice his recent movies, that aren't Mission Impossible sequels, underperform? Jack Reacher, American Made, The Mummy, etc. He's got two MI sequels and a Top Gun sequel coming out. Do audiences want to see Maverick at 58?

by Anonymousreply 87May 9, 2021 6:32 PM

R83 She didn't dump her kids. She was excommunicated and that basically means she is dead to them now. I don't know the specifics of this situation, but i know what scientologists do when you leave. Sounds like she started to think for herself regarding the cult and Tom booted her out. Then scientology auditioned for a better, more malleable women to play wife. Then Katie left (after the "silent birth" of Suri) while she was still able to take her daughter and before the cult got their claws into her. She had no idea what she was signing up for and it explains how awkward she was with Tom. She always looked a little scared of him in my opinion.

by Anonymousreply 88May 9, 2021 6:34 PM

R87 Holy shit! I didn't know that! It all makes perfect sense. American psycho is exactly what i think Tom would be like.

by Anonymousreply 89May 9, 2021 6:39 PM

WTF with the Top Gun sequel? Cruise is LONG past the age of still being an active fighter pilot in the Navy. I think those guys are usually done by the time they're forty.

by Anonymousreply 90May 9, 2021 6:40 PM

I enjoy his movies. I don't give a shit about what he believes in. I can't wait to see top gun 2!

I wish he would go back to more dramatic work, he's a very good actor.

by Anonymousreply 91May 9, 2021 6:41 PM

I think Nicole really loved that sick motherfucker and was too vulnerable after he dumped her to fight for her children the way Katie did. Also Katie had a huge support system with her Dad and family and they strategically planned her escape including Suri. Nicole was blindsided with the divorce.

by Anonymousreply 92May 9, 2021 6:42 PM

r41: "....would we have gone back to his trailer and fucked?"

I love this. lol

by Anonymousreply 93May 9, 2021 6:49 PM

Nicole was born in Hawaii. She’s an American.

Nicole didn’t love Tom. She was a paid beard.

by Anonymousreply 94May 9, 2021 7:33 PM

R87....also notice he works with the same people over and over and over again in recent years for instance christopher mcquarrie and doug liman (liman directed oblivion and directed top gun 2)... for me, both those directors are enablers of cruise and thus the cult... tidbit of information on mcquarrie, he is going to have his own condo in the same building in clearwater florida (the mecca of scientology) that cruise is having built... don't think mcquarrie is a cultie, so what gives on that??....

R88... i think nicole has been biding her time, not speaking out against the cult, in hopes that someday someday her now grown children will wake up, leave it and come back to her, until then she has to keep her mouth shut, because if she did say something against it, they, her grown children would be gone forever from her..

R90... based on the trailer for top gun 2, cruise is now a instructor but of course per his character (and cruises' off the charts ego) he'll take to the skies to show the youngsters how it's done, perhaps even in combat, more than just training....

by Anonymousreply 95May 9, 2021 7:34 PM

Tom loved Nicole, but she didn't care for him. She treated him like crap. Plus, she cheated. That's why he divorced her. Their divorce had nothing to do with Scientology. Nicole was simply having an affair. And Tom didn't deny her access to their kids. She dropped them on her own. Suri is not his. Katie was pregnant when they hooked up. Tom must have been so terribly hurt when he found out Katie was pregnant with someone else's child. He's not the monster you lot make him out to be

by Anonymousreply 96May 9, 2021 7:35 PM

by Anonymousreply 100May 9, 2021 7:50 PM

Nicole was NOT blindsided by the divorce. As Cruise said, Nicole "knows why". She was cheating, but she plays dumb in public to gain sympathy. She's been playing the public for more than 20 years. Exceptional actress, but ruthless.

by Anonymousreply 101May 9, 2021 7:51 PM

R96.. the rumor was that nicole cheated with ewan mcgregor during "moulin rouge"... however, that rumor is ridiculous in itself! she and ewan both aussies have been friends for years and years, and his wife was on set during the whole time..

nicole has always stated it came out of left field the divorce and according during their lawyers and themselves meeting together, she repeatedly asked tom why, why...

the REAL TRUTH? is that nicole was leaving scientology herself and wanted to take Tom with her, she was rightfully creeped out and disturbed by miscavige... during the making of eyes wide shut, and before and afterwards, tom and nicole did basically nothing scientology and cruise and her didn't have any contact with miscavige except for the holiday greeting and birthday in cards route....

miscavige sicked marty rathbun to poison cruise's mind against nicole, constant auditing of him, drumming into his head that all that is well is because of scientology and miscavige.. cruise eventually sided with his cult and miscavige over his own wife!.....

after their divorce is when cruise became SUPER ZEALOT willing to say and do anything for miscavige and the cult.. cruise WAS souring on scientology with nicole's help, when he found out about the whole OT 3 level XENU story, cruise went off on miscavige "what is this science fiction bullshit! leave me the fuck alone!" "i'm out of here!"... then after the divorce he did a complete 180 degree turn and became super zealot..

the REAL question never truly truly told? how cruise did this complete 180 degree turn, just from some simple auditing from rathbun? no, something else has to have occurred monumentally!..

cruise has now sided with scientology and miscavige over 3 wives...

by Anonymousreply 102May 9, 2021 7:55 PM

^ All lies propagated by that ex scientologist Marthy Rathbun. That guy is a LIAR. All he said about Cruise in Going Clear was LIES and the public believed him. It's sad. One day the truth will be revealed. Cruise loved Nicole, but she was having an affair. That's the truth. You'll be feeling so dumb in a few years when all will be revealed.

by Anonymousreply 104May 9, 2021 8:00 PM

^It's already been 20 years since the divorce. When do you expect the big reveal to happen, sweetheart?

by Anonymousreply 105May 9, 2021 8:03 PM

@96. One more lie told by that Rathbun guy. Cruise was never out of Scientology when he was with Nicole during the 90s. That was another lie told by Rathbun. Read old interviews with Cruise during the 90s (Vanity Fair etc). He's singing Scientology praises. Nicole was into it too. Scientology was not the reason for the divorce, but Nicole's cheating.

I met Tom Cruise once. It was very brief - just a hello as he was talking with some colleagues. I am not the type to normally get "vibes" off people or anything like that. Just not my thing.

But that man gave me the creeps. Everything about him was off putting. He was oddly intense (the encounter didn't call for him to be "on" or anything). He was incredibly cold, somehow. And was just dead behind the eyes.

No thanks.

R118 Sofia Vergara and Scarlett Johansson were in the running to be his "wife"? Sofia is way to tough. What a terrible idea that would have been. Not that Katie was much better in the end. But she is silent at least. Sofia would have kicked his tiny butt and i can't imagine her being silenced.

by Anonymousreply 143May 10, 2021 10:06 AM

He just never got over Brad Pitt, did he? Sent the poor dear insane.

by Anonymousreply 144May 10, 2021 10:19 AM

R143... according to the andrew morton book, cruise and sofia vergara DID date for awhile, (photo in the book with the two together and i think before she became well known for her tv work) but her family and friends turned her off to him, because in their words he was a "freak"... plus, she was a practicing catholic, so that would have never worked out as of course he would want her to leave it for cult-ology (funny cruise was a catholic too until he was in mid 20s)....

the final straw was they were suppose to go away together somewhere for a weekend, and she didn't go and literally left him hanging...

for quite some time, according to his biography, cruise (actually beforehand too) did his usual OVERBOARD OVER THE TOP love bombing of flowers, presents, phone calls and so on and so on reaching to the level of stalking to get her back and find out why she dumped him so so suddenly... on the advice of her family and friends, she ignored him and that was forever that..

quite similar to why penelope cruz dumped him as well.... a catholic, who would NOT convert to scientology and who was "worried" about his possessiveness...

cruise probably wanted vergara and then penelope cruz to tap into the spanish "market" for scientology....we have to remember EVERYTHING in his life 24/7 is calculating..

allegedly, katie holmes told people that cruise treated her like a thing, and like a robot...

by Anonymousreply 145May 10, 2021 12:16 PM

Maybe he just needs a sex robot?

L Ron Hubbard was a d grade sci-fi writer who conned his way into the religion game. His acolytes fall into a few categories - addicted, borderline personality disorder, learning disabled. It’s a cult for broken toys. And the anger… oh the soul sick anger of its followers. Like Jenna Elfman ranting on the street. Sick bitch.

All I know about clams is what I’ve read Laura Prepon say in press, and from her statements I glean that Sc!en0 is essentially a sci-fi theme-park member’s club version of really shitty outdated isolating conversion/talk therapy style from the 1970s; the type that encourages you to ignore emotions, disregard the complicated matrix of important relationships and ethics in the surrounding world, and instead operate from a neurotic, superior, disaffected and disconnected centre.

Here’s one of her dooziest quotes (from an interview in some kind of clam mag) :

[quote] PREPON, on doing Dianetics: I’m not affected [by Life] like I used to be. Things don’t bother me that had before. I don’t react like I did before. I remember I was doing a show with an amazing actor, and we were waiting to hear the fate of our show. He turned to me one day and asked, “How are you always so relaxed? Nothing seems to bother you. I want to know what you are doing…”—I take that as such a compliment...and I remember when I was directing this pilot for a show I co-created called Neighbors.I showed up to our biggest day of shooting, where we had children, student teachers, all the cast, big scenes—I remember thinking when I looked at the schedule, “Once I get through this day the rest of the shoot will be a breeze.” Well, I showed up in the morning and we had lost our locations. I was so shocked. Everybody was scrambling. But instead of getting into the worry or any previous mis-emotion slamming in on me or getting me stressed out, I just turned to my producer and said, “Okay, we need a solution. What are our other options?” And we quickly got to work on Plan B. The fact that I had no irrational counter-emotion or reaction and just went into solution mode, I feel, is definitely a testament to my auditing....I am so much bigger than this career and industry. It’s my job and it’s very important to me, but, when I have huge wins in session, and when you really cognate that you are a thetan and you have a mind and body, and that the MEST universe does not control you—it puts things into perspective. It takes the weight off.

by Anonymousreply 152May 10, 2021 3:45 PM

R150..... good description....

cruise is the ULTIMATE anomaly.. before him, scientology always and ONLY could get has been's and never were's from hollywood.... in cruise, they got the biggest superstar in the world who needed quote "self help".... and still needs it 3 plus decades later?....

the man was born handsome, healthy, went from a 18 year old nobody to a star in 3 years and then 3 years after that a superstar and been once since, becoming filthy rich, successful, super famous and doing what he loved BEFORE HE EVER HEARD of scientology! if anything, he should have been embarrassed that he needed "self help" from anyone and anywhere for any reason!

"but, but, they helped him with his alleged dyslexia, they helped me/him with my mean daddy issues, and they have a good message to help others and their not like those OTHER religions! the leader is down to earth too, not like those OTHER religious leaders!" and of course kissing his ass 24/7 is awesome too, even from a "religion"!? that in itself is shocking that he doesn't think his religion or ANY religion/church/faith kissing his ass isn't okay, proper, ethical, moral, inappropriate! if he had stayed a catholic would he expect to be hanging out with the pope doing all kinds of non religious activities, have the Pope send his minions from Rome to kiss his ass 24/7? i would think the answer is NO? but yet, with scientology all of it is okay??.. since cruise didn't enter scientology until his mid 20's he of course should have known better and still should!....

my description of scientology has always been this: a combination of north korea, organized crime, pyramid money scheme scam, country club of the have and have nots, the ultimate "dangling carrot", and self help mumbo jumbo nonsense, that anything that quote "works" is early on basic common sense and thought that anyone could have found in a 10 dollar self help book at the local bookstore!..

I had a neighbor some years ago who was a $. He tried like hell to get me interested. Like Tom, he was hyper-manic, intense. He was also very smart, a Mensa member. He got colon cancer and withered away to a bag of bones. They were treating his cancer with Vitamin C! He finally went to the hospital a day before he died when he was in agonizing pain. So stupid, so pointless. He hadn't seen his octogenarian parents in years.

by Anonymousreply 159May 10, 2021 7:51 PM

r160 He really was intelligent, book smart, and prolific with computers, but he was nuts. That "religion" controlled his mind.

by Anonymousreply 161May 10, 2021 8:39 PM

Some awesome, hilarious comments here and, knowing a lot about the subject as I do because close family members bought it hook, line and sinker, some spot-on analysis of the cult. They are relentless, though, and if you ever give them access to you, they will NOT let you go. If you don't place nice with them, they will go out of their way (many having nothing better to do and believe they are 'saving the planet') to harass you, target you, get you in trouble with the law, etc. It is quite a mind-fuck to have a whole organization out to get you. I am sure that none of the high profile ones are in any hurry to endure all that.

by Anonymousreply 162May 10, 2021 11:53 PM

One member not mentioned so far is Greta van Susteren. I always thought it was so bizarre that she was a member of a cult, but had a TV show like she did. I wonder if she's pals with Tom. And WHET to her?

by Anonymousreply 167May 11, 2021 1:41 PM

R164 is absolutely right. Scientology is an evil vicious cut, its worse than Islam, the only reason it is less dangerous is its current small size by comparison. Anything that can be done suppress it, should be.

To my mind its like a celeb being in the KKK or something similar - it speaks volumes about the type of person they are. That said, Cruise may not have been a monster when he got sucked into it, but they have made him one - they have reshaped him into their own image

by Anonymousreply 168May 11, 2021 2:09 PM

No, R165, fear not - Ewan is still Scottish.

by Anonymousreply 169May 11, 2021 2:22 PM

I really see an issue with them gaining new recruits. I can't imagine many people aren't aware of what evil work they do. They aren't able to have babies in the sea org either so no new recruits born. I am not sure of their rules about non sea org members having kids, but that is the only way i see it growing. Let's hope it dies out. It shouldn't have tax exemption that is for sure.

by Anonymousreply 170May 12, 2021 4:00 AM

I was a huge Michael Jackson fan. I was young and i collected everything of his i could get my hands on. When i eventually accepted he was sick, i stopped supporting and watching most of his stuff. Back in the day the mysterious OT levels were still a big secret, but now everyone knows it's just a bunch of bs about any alien overlord named Xenu (or whatever that shit was). Who the hell would spend any $$$ on this crap? Is this a generational thing now were mostly family members, kids etc join the cult or just really really dumb and vulnerable people?

by Anonymousreply 173May 12, 2021 10:18 AM

It's a cult. Of course they "find" new members.

You people are so naive.

by Anonymousreply 174May 12, 2021 11:01 AM

R170 /R173 I suspect the internet has really put a massive cramp on their growth, along with all the bad publicity of recent years. I wouldnt be surprised if their age profile is now skewing older.

However they will still find some new members as R174 says they are a cult. It will mostly be people that are either extremely vulnerable or uninformed about the world in general, and these new members wont bring much in the way of wealth or skills into the cult like Cruise did. They wont reel in any more big stars I dont think, they'll be told to fuck off with that bullshit

by Anonymousreply 175May 12, 2021 11:05 AM

R171... well said, i was a HUGE HUGE tom cruise fan back in the day, i watched every movie of his in the theater multiple times, bought every magazine he was on the cover of, watched every interview or appearance on tv, etc....i thought he was a "good guy"!... the guy who made it big, on his own, who didn't have connections or wealth, worked hard, came from a normal family and so on.. AND we had things in common personally....

but once i realized what scientology was because i did the homework on it and realized and saw with my own eyes OF COURSE this became more important than little ole me being entertained by a movie star and his movies and supporting him with my money! I no longer have anything to do with supporting him. WILL NOT watch his movies in the theater ever again...

it's called having integrity, a conscience, decency, character, honor, empathy and shame.... SADLY SO SO MANY people in this world were never taught this, or simply do not have any of this!... TRULY they care only about themselves!.. how were they raised? it's one thing to be ignorant of scientology and him being the public face of it, it's another when you actually TELL AND INFORM people about it all and they don't care! and don't want to know! NOW THAT IS FUCKED UP!....

[quote]They aren't able to have babies in the sea org either so no new recruits born. I am not sure of their rules about non sea org members having kids, but that is the only way i see it growing.

I know nothing about this aspect of Scientology, but what would be their purpose in forbidding their members at ANY level to have babies? Wouldn't that be tremendously counterproductive to Scientology, pardon the pun?

by Anonymousreply 180May 12, 2021 4:00 PM

If members raise children, they don't have time for 500 years of slave labor.

by Anonymousreply 181May 12, 2021 4:24 PM

R180 - Sea Org workers put in ridiculous hours - 14 hour days , 6 days a week. You can't raise kids under these circumstances. Women have been forced to have abortion. Claire Headley emotionally discussed her experience on Leah Remini's documentary about the cults many abuses. Another woman has a lawsuit pending in L.A. (I need to check what the status is. $ drags out court battles).

It's speculated that Cruise's adopted kids are Sea Org offspring whose mothers were allowed to see their pregnancies to term and either willingly gave up the babies or had no choice in the matter.

Yes. It's that evil.

I don't know if they could have shut it down, BUT this hateful "religion" (i.e., cult and scam) should have NEVER been granted non-profit status. If that hadn't happened, Scientology likely might not have survived.

by Anonymousreply 185May 12, 2021 6:52 PM

True r185. They essentially declared themselves a church. Unbelievable it was allowed to happen.

by Anonymousreply 186May 12, 2021 7:01 PM

[quote]Blame the i.r.s and the government at the time for allowing them to forego a BILLION DOLLARS in tax debt they owed and letting them be declared a religion and then tax exemption!

And why the FUCK did the IRS and the government allow them to do that? Did Scientology blackmail higher-ups in the IRS and the government?

by Anonymousreply 188May 12, 2021 8:02 PM

R188 Doesn’t Lisa Remini or Rashid Jones, which ever one does that exposing Scientology Show, cover how they manipulated and blackmailed the government into making them nonprofit?

by Anonymousreply 189May 12, 2021 8:18 PM

R188.. actually you hit the nail on the head! the cult, i mean the religion, no i men the cult, indeed created countless countless lawsuits against the i.r.s. and then they got dirt on some of the high officials and VOILA! the i.r.s. basically said if you made these lawsuits and dirty laundry go away, we'll let you got scott free of your billion dollar taxes owed... the government during bill clinton's time is the one who granted them their religious status, thus no taxes from now on ever after the taxes owed was dissolved...

meanwhile per the cult and it's sociopath leader the greatest day in the "religion's" existence was when during a cultie event miscavige told the crowd how they are NOW tax exempt to the roar of the crowd! course, he didn't tell the suckers in the audience just HOW they got tax exemption!...

by Anonymousreply 190May 12, 2021 8:28 PM

[Quote] Unbelievable it was allowed to happen.

Are you from the U.S.? That would be illegal. First Amendment, you know? "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" There are plenty of quack religions and cults that don't have tax exempt status.

[Quote]And why the FUCK did the IRS and the government allow them to do that? Did Scientology blackmail higher-ups in the IRS and the government?

Essentially, but worse. It's been ages since I read about it and have forgotten details, but basically $ operatives infiltrated the IRS and it was through their machinations that the exempt status was granted. Google Operation Snow White for details. Yes, it was a heavily orchestrated campaign that got an official name from Hubbard.

[Quote]the largest infiltration of government offices in u.s. history!

Wow. I didn't know this. I wonder if one reason the IRS hasn't revoked their status because this would become widespread knowledge and the agency would be subject to scrutiny even though this happened nearly three decades ago.

by Anonymousreply 195May 13, 2021 2:10 AM

Idk if I have already posted this, sorry if I have, but they laugh at Tom and ridicule him. His scientology buddies, according to ex-members who escaped the cult say they video tape TC and mock him unmercifully. The top guy, the one Tom hero worships, Miscavage, thinks Tom is a joke and he and other members mock him Tom after every visit or encounter they have with him. They do not like him, they do not respect him, they just use him for the useful fool he is. Clueless. Lee Remini has written about this as well.

I went down the rabbit hole when Tony Ortega started the Underground Bunker but managed to forget details (or block them). Surreal.

[Quote]This project included a series of infiltrations into and thefts from 136 government agencies, foreign embassies and consulates, as well as private organizations critical of Scientology, carried out by Church members in more than 30 countries.[1] It was one of the largest infiltrations of the United States government in history,[2] with up to 5,000 covert agents.[3]

by Anonymousreply 198May 13, 2021 2:24 AM

"extremely vulnerable or uninformed about the world"--doesn't that describe the 70 mil. who voted for Dumpf? Cults will always find members, although some like the Moonies--I knew one of those, too--are considerably reduced in membership. I agree that the internet is a powerful spotlight/disinfectant for those groups because a large part of their attraction was mystery.

by Anonymousreply 199May 13, 2021 2:32 AM

Supposedly Scientology is down to like 10,000 members.

The church is super rich though. They bought so much real estate with their money, having drained probably a million followers of their life savings. Then the internet came along and it became impossible for them to recruit like before because so much information was leaked. But the money and real estate holdings grew and they're pretty much on autopilot.

by Anonymousreply 200May 13, 2021 3:21 AM

[quote]Google Operation Snow White for details. Yes, it was a heavily orchestrated campaign that got an official name from Hubbard.

Operation Cat was another similar operation, headed by Neil Gaiman's father. Gaiman's family is still deep in the cult, and I know everyone (including Tony Ortega) say Gaiman himself isn't anymore, but I don't quite believe that.

When people were talking about Graham Norton earlier in the thread I was reminded of Gaiman's friend Jonathan Ross, who wrote in one of his books that Scientology doesn't "get a fair deal" and it's "no more harmful than any other religion."

Ross also went after Gervais for saying that Scientology was homophobic, saying it was unfair to Scientology and Gervais shouldn't have said it.

I get the impression that a LOT of people are quietly clams or clam-adjacent.

[quote]Leah Remini and Mike Rinder are fighting this too. They want people to complain about their tax exempt status until they take it away.

That would be great, but as someone else pointed out, Scientology has apparently become SO rich over the decades, through a combination of their evil methods and their tax exempt status, that, very sadly, it will probably survive for a long time even if that status were revoked.

FWIW, I think the government should revoke the tax exempt status of ALL religions. I'm sure I don't have to point out that the Catholic church, for example, has done some supremely evil stuff itself.

by Anonymousreply 206May 13, 2021 1:35 PM

R200.. true and the stupid members think hey we are opening a new building, we MUST be growing in numbers and success! never mind, those same buildings after the "grand openings" are empty shortly afterwards..

this is also the same "cough cough" religion that even LIES ABOUT HOW MANY MEMBERS IT HAS! they literally tell their members they are MILLIONS around the world! ... they also LITERALLY count anyone and everyone who has took one class, bought a book, ONE TIME, EVEN IF YEARS AGO as a "member"! talk about fucked up ridiculousness!

by Anonymousreply 207May 13, 2021 1:42 PM

R196.... yes, for those who have done the "homework" on this insidious thing called scientology, many ex-members have stated that cruise was indeed filmed and recorded secretly with all of his audits, and that miscavige and now outcast wife Shelley were among the select few who would watch the audits, miscavige would read out loud the audits and over scotch late at night the small group would mock and laugh at cruise.....

according to tom devocht who was in charge of building and maintenance of projects not only for miscavige but for cruise per the order of miscavige, was there himself, and said miscavige would laugh and shake his head and say out loud "geez, can you believe it!" and Shelley would "blush" and say "that's gross!"...

one could only surmise what the information was..devocht stated that "cruise probably has alot of embarrassing sexual information".... this was all in a issue of VANITY FAIR in a issue about scientology...

in another documentary, i believe it was "GONG CLEAR"? claire headley and her husband Mark, who both fled the cult, told the interviewer, with Claire because the course supervisor for cruise audits, when asked by the interviewer "does mr. cruise have things he wouldn't want the public to know about in those audits" and she replied "absolutely"...

so there you go!..

meanwhile, i wonder does it ever ever ever EVER sink into cruise's head "gee, where are all those people who were high level officials in my religion when i got into it who were in for years and years before me, my course supervisor, my handlers, marty rathbun, the father of my best friend the leader, and many others and have now all come and gone!".... even my first wife who got me into it has left it, even my 2nd wife left it, even my last wife, who took some beginning classes, left it"....OH WELL, I GUESS IT WASN'T FOR THEM AFTER ALL! OR IS IT "OH WELL, THEY WERE BAD PEOPLE ANYWAY!"

by Anonymousreply 208May 13, 2021 1:53 PM

R206.. yes, the catholic religion HAS done bad things horrible things over the centuries, the difference between them and scientology is:

1) the catholic religion has changed and continues to so if albeit very slowly, scientology will NEVER change....

2) the catholic religion HAS helped many in various ways, charity ways, scientology has never TRULY helped anyone, nothing they couldn't find in a 10 dollar self help book at the local bookstore...

3) the catholic HAS AND DOES admit fault and wrong... scientology? NO ONE IS EVEN ALLOWED TO DARE SAY THEY ARE WRONG! ABOUT ANYTHING! EVER!.. AND THEY WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER ADMIT TO ANY WRONG!....SCIENTOLOGY will literally stalk and harass those who do speak out loudly against it! current members, ex-members, those never in, doesn't matter..

by Anonymousreply 209May 13, 2021 2:02 PM

R201... didn't know this about Jonathan Ross, so he's a total ignorant ass about scientology as well then!..... similar to what neil grayson tyson stated when asked about scientology! almost word for word similar to Ross! that tyson didn't know much about scientology, but that it didn't seem any less harmful than other religions!' (newsflash to ross and tyson! IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY HELL YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT YOU DONT' SAY ANYTHING!!!)...

that is a whole simplistic and of course ridiculously stupid comment deflection and whataboutism "but, what about other religions!"...

the fact remains cruise is the public face of it all, knows the evil going on, turns a blind eye to it, gets his ass kissed 24/7 for over 3 decades by it, abandoned a young daughter over it, and yet cruise (like a politician) HAS A CAREER, FAME AND WEALTH AND ALL BECAUSE OF US, THE PUBLIC AND WE ARE SUPPOSE TO IGNORE ALL OF THIS AND KEEP SUPPORTING THIS MAN WITH OUR TIME AND MONEY!

really? REALLY?????????????????? i don't think so! meanwhile as well? he and his "religion" think we are all "degraded beings" and "silly wogs" (basically the "N" word in scientology terms)....

by Anonymousreply 210May 13, 2021 2:08 PM

R209, I agree with all of that, but I still think the tax exempt status of the Catholic church AND EVERY OTHER RELIGION should be revoked, EXCEPT for whatever activities they do that are clearly charitable and not tied to any religion. So if the Catholic church wants to set up a soup kitchen that will be open to all and not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. in hiring staff or in terms of whom they serve, that activity should be tax exempt, but if they want to buy a building to build a new school, that should NOT.

by Anonymousreply 211May 13, 2021 2:13 PM

The thing is $cientology isn’t a religion. It’s a self improvement organization like Nexivm was.

by Anonymousreply 212May 13, 2021 4:09 PM

I'm always suspicious of deeply religious or cult-y people. However, I've got to hand it to him as he's been a major Hollywood star for a long time, so that has to mean ... something?

But really, I just like seeing "Tom Cruise is twisted and sick" in the side bar. It's hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 213May 13, 2021 4:16 PM

R212 "Self improvement organization"?? Perhaps for psychopaths and narcissists?

I have never heard of a person "improved" by Scientology

by Anonymousreply 215May 13, 2021 9:42 PM

He hasn't had a girlfriend/wife since Katie?

by Anonymousreply 216May 13, 2021 10:13 PM

OP, I've thought this about Tom Cruise since his star began to rise & especially when began to hit superstar status. Whenever I people, like Oprah, say what a kind & generous person he is I think what a poor judge of character they must me. His image is toooooo controlled & tooooo carefully maintained to be anything less than disingenuous. The public's perception of him is so manipulated it boggles my mind that he's gotten away with it for so long. To me he's a humorless, self-important mascot to the extremely calculated, albeit lucrative, industry of Tom Cruise. Dull, prosaic, soulless, & character-free

by Anonymousreply 217May 13, 2021 10:27 PM

It seems to me that when he’s tried to be “genuine” (revealing his feelings about Katie on Oprah, lecturing Matt Lauer) it’s backfired on him.

His recent act of returning his 3 Golden Globes in protest of The Hollywood Foreign Press’ lack of diversity was the biggest pile of bullshit yet. A complete and utter P.R move.

by Anonymousreply 218May 13, 2021 11:05 PM

R218... exactly! question for tom! "so tom do tell the world just how diverse the members of scientology are!" you know how every ethnic group and race are represented and in great numbers at your cult, i meanyour religion, you know at your religion events!"....

a monumental pathological stubborn liar, coward and full of crap he is!...

by Anonymousreply 219May 14, 2021 1:48 AM

by Anonymousreply 220May 14, 2021 3:49 AM

His not being involved in Suri's life probably prohibits him from doing any kind of in depth interview with Oprah or her ilk.

by Anonymousreply 221May 14, 2021 4:08 AM

I'd love to hear Katie Holmes talk about this whole thing. Her family was supposedly extremely worried about the whole relationship. They sent out a letter to their church asking members to not speak to the media during this difficult time.

Katie was smart enough to delay the wedding and have her father (a lawyer) get a really good pre-nup.

Nicole has said someday she might tell her story. Would be an interesting read.

by Anonymousreply 222May 14, 2021 4:10 AM

Tammy returning her Golden Globes now is laughable since people don't seem to care that much about awards anyway. The ratings have been horrible and I doubt people will care about awards or associate a successful career with awards nominations in the future. Seems like the Oscars, Golden Globes, Emmys etc are all dying a slow death along with talk shows, network television and movie theaters. Streaming, social media, cultural changes and the pandemic are transforming the entertainment industry rapidly.

Has Tom ever worked for Netflix or one of the big streaming services? I think it's time for him to look for other job opportunities.

by Anonymousreply 231May 14, 2021 11:05 PM

A Top Gun sequel is just embarrassing at his age. A 60 year-old fighter pilot? Whatever. I don't think that even instructors are that old.

by Anonymousreply 232May 15, 2021 12:41 AM

R232.. at this point, all he has is action movies and sequels.. and working with the same people over and over and over again.. NO great dramatic roles and NO great directors either! as it is he is producing most of his movies on his own now....I do not believe he has had a movie gross over 100 million dollars alone in the united states besides the mission movies for over 10 years now...If the overseas market especially the Asian market ever tires of him (or finds out about scientology!) he and his action movies and career at least in action movies is done for.

One wonders does he truly love making action films again and again that much? Can he truly not get hired or create a drama movie anymore? Can he truly not get hired or create a romantic comedy anymore because of his personal life personality that no one would buy it or want to see him in such a movie? Is it now about attention, action fun and a salary? throwing any pretense of actual ACTING out the window long ago...

What is his long term film roles goal? Off topic, but does he also ever ever worry about when Suri hits 18 and the stories she can tell the world?

by Anonymousreply 233May 15, 2021 12:14 PM

Suri was made to sign the 100 generations standard Scientology NDA in utero so she can’t say anything.

by Anonymousreply 235May 15, 2021 1:47 PM

What do you mean? Are you suggesting that all of the millions and millions of people in that "market" are unaware of Cruise's connection to Scientology, and might somehow suddenly "find out" about it at some point in the future?

by Anonymousreply 238May 15, 2021 4:22 PM

R238.. Well for the most part, the grand most part, this insidious organization has little in the way of Asian countries... Nearly nothing, so yes, great swaths of the Asian population know nothing about scientology much less cruise in it, much less cruise the public face of it all!...

they know and love him for decades as the all american handsome so nice to his fans (japan has a "tom cruise day") action star...

I have to say i doubt that the asian market would care if they DID find out about scientology and what's it's really about and who cruise really is! As it is like other celebrity worshippers and tom cruise worshippers around the globe, their self absorption and being entertained by a movie star and movies/his movies is paramount to them, nothing else matters!..

by Anonymousreply 239May 15, 2021 5:37 PM

R239, thanks for the effort, but first of all, what does the fact that Scientology basically doesn't exist in Asian countries have to do with whether or not people there are aware of it or Cruise's involvement in it? I don't think Hezbollah has much of a presence in the U.S., but I know what it is.

by Anonymousreply 240May 15, 2021 5:45 PM

by Anonymousreply 241May 15, 2021 5:47 PM

r225 I'd bet you're wrong. Cruise probably has some limited series in development either overseeing them directly or giving notes on friends/frequent collaborator projects in development.

I don't think he'd do an ongoing series at this point. Its too much of a commitment. But Cruise would definitely do like an 8 parter if the material and director was right.

There are so many properties and books that just never worked boiled down to a feature film that would make amazing limited series. (A feature is about 40 pages of a book based on Michael Chricton's estimate of his own adaptations).
