DOGE coin holders are taking profit now so the price, which was at an all time high of 74 cents, is falling. I don't know why they think Elon on SNL is going to be some big promo for DOGEcoin.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | May 9, 2021 2:46 AM |
Ugh....Miley singing?.....I already want to change the channel
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 9, 2021 3:32 AM |
Miley looks fat and sounds like shit.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 9, 2021 3:34 AM |
WHY is Miley Cyrus caterwauling in the opening sketch? Ughhh
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 9, 2021 3:35 AM |
Some of those mothers look like MEN (Celilys mom)....And NO Andrew Dismukes?.....Outrageous...
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 9, 2021 3:36 AM |
Why does Miley sound like Awkwafina?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 9, 2021 3:38 AM |
No mom for Alex Moffett?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 9, 2021 3:38 AM |
Does Andrew not have a mom (or maybe two dads?!?) or is he standing by his principals and not appearing?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 9, 2021 3:38 AM |
Fuck Elon Musk.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 9, 2021 3:39 AM |
There’s clearly an odor of a musk secretion on tonight’s program.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 9, 2021 3:39 AM |
Too bad it’s not Eli Whitney, a much better inventor.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 9, 2021 3:40 AM |
Elon looks like a Bond Villain.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 9, 2021 3:40 AM |
I hate to break this news, but some people's mothers are dead.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 9, 2021 3:41 AM |
Playing the disability card, interesting....
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 9, 2021 3:41 AM |
He's weird, but at least he admits it.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 9, 2021 3:41 AM |
Kenan had the cutest mom.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 9, 2021 3:42 AM |
Seriously. Fuck this guy, fuck Lorne Michaels, and fuck giving him a chance to launch this transparent PR campaign.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 9, 2021 3:42 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 9, 2021 3:44 AM |
R22 has already won the thread.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 9, 2021 3:44 AM |
His mother is stunning.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 9, 2021 3:45 AM |
I’m not usually this person, but is Elon trans?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 9, 2021 3:45 AM |
I didn’t think he’d be so.... pathetic.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 9, 2021 3:45 AM |
He has a great-looking mom, I'll give him that.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 9, 2021 3:46 AM |
Yes, he is 1/3 of the way going from alien to human.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 9, 2021 3:46 AM |
I hope some reporter is researching exactly how and why NBC has him hosting one of their flagship shows. Follow the money.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 9, 2021 3:47 AM |
"Elon looks like a Bond Villain."
Mussy L'Amour
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 9, 2021 3:47 AM |
So who's hosting next? Jeff Bezos?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 9, 2021 3:48 AM |
And Lucid Motors (Tesla’s competitor) just ran a commercial after his monologue.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 9, 2021 3:49 AM |
Stunning r31
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 9, 2021 3:49 AM |
Who are these people supposed to be?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | May 9, 2021 3:50 AM |
This is already kinda painful.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | May 9, 2021 3:50 AM |
lol, Elon's monologue was lame, but it's not like the skits are any better.
This Gen Z hospital is god awful, terrible and they seem stunted.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 9, 2021 3:51 AM |
This is unwatchable. Muted.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 9, 2021 3:51 AM |
I thought Grey’s Anatomy was insufferable.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 9, 2021 3:51 AM |
Elon is going to make billions tonight off all the Reddit fanboys and any other sheep he lures in to buying DOGECOIN, highly considered to be one of the worst cryptocurrencies, that he is pumping to the world. The entire show is a Pump & Dump scheme for his shitty crypto.
Not joking.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | May 9, 2021 3:52 AM |
This is so fucking bad.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 9, 2021 3:52 AM |
R29 see R40 Lorne is probably balls deep in DOGE
by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 9, 2021 3:53 AM |
So far, the best line goes to Elon's mom, "I hope it's not Dogecoin."
by Anonymous | reply 43 | May 9, 2021 3:53 AM |
The audience is a little laughter and a smattering of applause.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | May 9, 2021 3:54 AM |
That Beck Bennett really is gorgeous. I know his weight fluctuates but the face is perfection.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | May 9, 2021 3:54 AM |
R42, R40, who cares? Every host and musical guest is promoting something.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | May 9, 2021 3:55 AM |
Beck is not my type but he did look really cute in that unfunny party sketch.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | May 9, 2021 3:56 AM |
Andrew!
by Anonymous | reply 48 | May 9, 2021 3:56 AM |
Beck's always cute.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | May 9, 2021 3:57 AM |
I wonder if Alex is sitting out tonight's show.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | May 9, 2021 3:59 AM |
Really raiding the wig vault tonight.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | May 9, 2021 4:00 AM |
This is fucking terrible.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | May 9, 2021 4:01 AM |
I was gonna hang in until Weekend Update but I don’t know if I’m gonna make it.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | May 9, 2021 4:01 AM |
Why is Chloe channeling Bubble with an accent?
by Anonymous | reply 55 | May 9, 2021 4:02 AM |
Oolie reminds me of Bubble from Abfab.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | May 9, 2021 4:03 AM |
Mikey Day is adorable. He reminds me so much of my friend.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | May 9, 2021 4:03 AM |
Worst skit ever.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | May 9, 2021 4:04 AM |
Melissa Villasenor's Bjork was pretty good.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | May 9, 2021 4:04 AM |
So appropriation of Iceland is fine? This might be the official jump the shark moment of SNL. Fucking horrendous!
by Anonymous | reply 60 | May 9, 2021 4:04 AM |
So Elon declared he's the first person with Aspergers to host SNL. Still a weirdo asshole Aspie or not.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | May 9, 2021 4:05 AM |
What’s this obsession about cousins hooking up this episode?
by Anonymous | reply 62 | May 9, 2021 4:05 AM |
Yes, a Mare of Easttown skit!
by Anonymous | reply 63 | May 9, 2021 4:05 AM |
Stop eating Wawa hoagies over the dead body! Lol, I like this.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | May 9, 2021 4:06 AM |
Alex channeling Evan!
by Anonymous | reply 65 | May 9, 2021 4:07 AM |
Only slightly funny sketch yet.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | May 9, 2021 4:08 AM |
Miley Cyrus sounds like someone strangling a goat 🐐
by Anonymous | reply 67 | May 9, 2021 4:10 AM |
Ugh, if Miley is gonna sing, I’m gonna go make a sandwich.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | May 9, 2021 4:10 AM |
Is she a smoker? Her voice sounds like Patty and Selma's.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | May 9, 2021 4:11 AM |
I love this song
by Anonymous | reply 70 | May 9, 2021 4:12 AM |
Shit, he's definitely on the spectrum.

by Anonymous | reply 72 | May 9, 2021 4:12 AM |
She doesn’t “sing,” R68. She bleats. LOUDLY.

by Anonymous | reply 77 | May 9, 2021 4:14 AM |
That blond twink is cute. Who is he?
by Anonymous | reply 78 | May 9, 2021 4:14 AM |
Well SNL seems to be doing all the big TikTok songs this year.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | May 9, 2021 4:14 AM |
Who is this pig-nosed twink who's.cosplaying 1993 fashion?
by Anonymous | reply 80 | May 9, 2021 4:14 AM |
They made Miley sing the part about not making a wife out of a Ho instead of Kid Laroi
by Anonymous | reply 81 | May 9, 2021 4:14 AM |
Elon is dorky funny?
WTF kind of comedy did you grow up on? Jesus Christ.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | May 9, 2021 4:14 AM |
The mom is stunning and should have been in Devil Wears Prada instead of Meryl what's-her-name.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | May 9, 2021 4:15 AM |
kate winslet is so icky in that icky show... glad SNL lampooned her ass.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | May 9, 2021 4:15 AM |
Kid Laroi sang the Ho part the on the final refrain
by Anonymous | reply 85 | May 9, 2021 4:15 AM |
That aMiley/ Kid song was terrible.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | May 9, 2021 4:16 AM |
Another laugh-less episode.
Next week a REAL comic writer and actor.
And after the Rachel Dratch crap fest of the Wicked accent, it should have been put in the urn with the mother, bra!
by Anonymous | reply 87 | May 9, 2021 4:16 AM |
R77, he said, "kid laroi"
by Anonymous | reply 88 | May 9, 2021 4:16 AM |
[quote]Is she a smoker? Her voice sounds like Patty and Selma's.
She's always had a husky voice, but she had vocal cord surgery years ago and it seems like it made her voice worse.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | May 9, 2021 4:16 AM |
Kid Laroi....DLs newest sensation....Until he looks 19 and then they will tire of him...
by Anonymous | reply 90 | May 9, 2021 4:16 AM |
Gen Z hospital was fun
by Anonymous | reply 91 | May 9, 2021 4:16 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 92 | May 9, 2021 4:16 AM |
He's cute, R90, but he needs a nose job.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | May 9, 2021 4:17 AM |
Kid Laroi? What will he call himself when he is old?
by Anonymous | reply 95 | May 9, 2021 4:20 AM |
Why is the Kid tragic?
by Anonymous | reply 96 | May 9, 2021 4:20 AM |
why he so ugly?
by Anonymous | reply 97 | May 9, 2021 4:20 AM |
His nose, R96. Hopefully it can be fixed.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | May 9, 2021 4:21 AM |
Is miley his mommy? they share the same fugly dna i see.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | May 9, 2021 4:21 AM |
Dogecoin down 31% since the monologue. That's humorous.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | May 9, 2021 4:22 AM |
Miley has mentioned before how singing, drinking, smoking, and drugs have ruined her cords. She also says she's bipolar.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | May 9, 2021 4:23 AM |
Glad I didn't waste my time watching...I'm only reading the play by play in this thread.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | May 9, 2021 4:24 AM |
wow they're giving Musk a chance to promote right now how corrupt
by Anonymous | reply 103 | May 9, 2021 4:24 AM |
how can you tell he's on the spectrum? what are the tell tale signs?
by Anonymous | reply 104 | May 9, 2021 4:25 AM |
He just farted on live TV.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | May 9, 2021 4:26 AM |
his wife is a fart.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | May 9, 2021 4:28 AM |
His mannerisms, R104.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | May 9, 2021 4:29 AM |
Why is baby Yoda in an egg, is he still being hatcheted?
by Anonymous | reply 108 | May 9, 2021 4:30 AM |
Has anyone seen Aidy's show on Hulu? Is it funny?
by Anonymous | reply 109 | May 9, 2021 4:33 AM |
March 9, 2021.....The Official Date DL found someone to replace old Timothee......Kid Laroi will have a good run here with these drooling queens.... Let the face tattoos begin!!!
by Anonymous | reply 110 | May 9, 2021 4:33 AM |
It's amazing that Kyle could get that green Baby Yoda makeup off fast enough to appear in this next sketch.
by Anonymous | reply 111 | May 9, 2021 4:36 AM |
R109 It's based on Lindy West's memoir and she's very good in it. Patti Harrison and a few of the supporting characters are nice additions. It's definitely a different type of humor than SNL.
by Anonymous | reply 112 | May 9, 2021 4:39 AM |
it aint live,,,,leroy
by Anonymous | reply 113 | May 9, 2021 4:39 AM |
Not that amazing, R111.
by Anonymous | reply 114 | May 9, 2021 4:40 AM |
We’re done with Miley for the night right, two songs over?
by Anonymous | reply 115 | May 9, 2021 4:41 AM |
R109, I agree with R112– Aidy’s show is much different than SNL, but definitely worth watching.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | May 9, 2021 4:41 AM |
R104, he said he was Aspergers in his opening monologue.
by Anonymous | reply 117 | May 9, 2021 4:41 AM |
Miley’s voice is shot.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | May 9, 2021 4:42 AM |
but 4 reals, why is mare of easttown so bad? its like a joke. winslet looks like a sick old cat.

by Anonymous | reply 120 | May 9, 2021 4:44 AM |
Does miley have throat cancer?
by Anonymous | reply 121 | May 9, 2021 4:45 AM |
Jesus, why did Pete cover his body with all those tattoos? Just insane.
by Anonymous | reply 122 | May 9, 2021 4:46 AM |
She has goat cancer.
by Anonymous | reply 123 | May 9, 2021 4:46 AM |
Was Chad a character Pete did before coming to SNL?
by Anonymous | reply 124 | May 9, 2021 4:47 AM |
R119, They were just making fun of the Delco accent in southeastern Pennsylvania. She nailed a dialect that is notoriously strange and difficult to emulate.
by Anonymous | reply 125 | May 9, 2021 4:48 AM |
R122 Actually, he’s having them systematically removed right now. Hopefully not just to have a blank canvas to start over.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | May 9, 2021 4:49 AM |
nice the red light covers miley and we cant see her fug body / tatts/ junkie tracks.
she is lip sinking.
by Anonymous | reply 127 | May 9, 2021 4:50 AM |
I WOULD BLOW ELON, RIM HIM TOO
by Anonymous | reply 128 | May 9, 2021 4:51 AM |
She is singing live.
by Anonymous | reply 129 | May 9, 2021 4:51 AM |
Oh dear!^^^
by Anonymous | reply 130 | May 9, 2021 4:51 AM |
Cyrus looks like an old bitch, wtf happend to her? she cant be 40 yet.
by Anonymous | reply 131 | May 9, 2021 4:52 AM |
Three songs for Miley. Also, I wonder if tonight was the first time the musical guest ever opened the show with a song?
by Anonymous | reply 132 | May 9, 2021 4:52 AM |
Lip SYNCING?
by Anonymous | reply 133 | May 9, 2021 4:52 AM |
Correction r129, she is SHOUTING live
by Anonymous | reply 134 | May 9, 2021 4:52 AM |
This is one of their better shows this season (if muting Miley). Kyle Mooney was born to play that Baby Yoda character.
by Anonymous | reply 135 | May 9, 2021 4:53 AM |
I want Elon to give me a Model Y.
by Anonymous | reply 136 | May 9, 2021 4:54 AM |
Miley sounds terrible. Like an old woman.
by Anonymous | reply 137 | May 9, 2021 4:55 AM |
SHE IS !!! AN OLD WOMAN.
by Anonymous | reply 139 | May 9, 2021 4:57 AM |
Does SNL use a specific prop house or is it all an in-house NBC prop collection and where is it stored?
by Anonymous | reply 140 | May 9, 2021 4:57 AM |
I think Alex has put on a few Covid pounds but he's still hot.
by Anonymous | reply 141 | May 9, 2021 4:57 AM |
wanna see elon in a fukfest with alex, colin and ben affleck
by Anonymous | reply 142 | May 9, 2021 4:58 AM |
I'm concerned about Alex's health. Those undereye bags are heroin-level.
by Anonymous | reply 143 | May 9, 2021 4:59 AM |
Well, it's done. I think it was okay. Not the best and not the worst.
by Anonymous | reply 144 | May 9, 2021 4:59 AM |
old fart miley had her older fart mom on stage at the end????? god dam fukker
by Anonymous | reply 145 | May 9, 2021 5:01 AM |
Why no Aidy????? so so durn good.
by Anonymous | reply 146 | May 9, 2021 5:02 AM |
So Andrew and Alex don’t have moms, so sad. Hopefully they’ll spend tomorrow in bed consoling each other.
by Anonymous | reply 147 | May 9, 2021 5:02 AM |
Watching Chad kill himself was HILARIOUS. I wonder how long it took him to figure out he was dead?
by Anonymous | reply 148 | May 9, 2021 5:04 AM |
Elon was more awkward than I imagined. Did he have that baby with Grimes the old-fashioned way?
by Anonymous | reply 149 | May 9, 2021 5:05 AM |
R146 - if you like Aidy (I love her) watch the Hulu series she stars in. It’s so perfect.
by Anonymous | reply 150 | May 9, 2021 5:05 AM |
He was very awkward at first and seemed a little more comfortable closer to the end, R149.
by Anonymous | reply 151 | May 9, 2021 5:07 AM |
… based on this thread I feel like I truly missed out!
by Anonymous | reply 152 | May 9, 2021 5:09 AM |
R152 It’ll all be on the SNL Youtube channel in a few hours.
by Anonymous | reply 153 | May 9, 2021 5:11 AM |
he has a bunch of kids too, i hope they are normal and not "special"
by Anonymous | reply 154 | May 9, 2021 5:14 AM |
R83 Yes, lets just let billionaires and their affiliates replace themselves in everything. From the arts to politics. Sounds like a good plan.
by Anonymous | reply 155 | May 9, 2021 5:22 AM |
With this crossed off his bucket list, will he now ski Mount Everest?
by Anonymous | reply 156 | May 9, 2021 5:28 AM |
The mom was in a Beyonce video years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 157 | May 9, 2021 5:30 AM |
If you 5nought Musk was good, yo7 have zero fucking taste. He ruined every sketch he was in.
by Anonymous | reply 158 | May 9, 2021 5:38 AM |
musk was refreshing from the usual over acting asswipe stars they have on who act like egomaniacal cunts.
by Anonymous | reply 159 | May 9, 2021 5:43 AM |
Miley sounds like Stevie Nicks on testosterone and cigarettes.
by Anonymous | reply 160 | May 9, 2021 5:52 AM |
Musk was refreshing?
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
by Anonymous | reply 161 | May 9, 2021 5:53 AM |
R105 it was actually a queef.
by Anonymous | reply 162 | May 9, 2021 5:55 AM |
[quote]Does SNL use a specific prop house or is it all an in-house NBC prop collection and where is it stored?
I recall reading that have prop storage in house and will occasionally get rid of things.
by Anonymous | reply 163 | May 9, 2021 5:55 AM |
Miley makes Stevie Nicks sound like Maria Callas.
by Anonymous | reply 164 | May 9, 2021 6:02 AM |
Elon shifts his bod from side to side a lot of the time in his delivery. Kind of weird.
by Anonymous | reply 165 | May 9, 2021 6:06 AM |
What was Aidy's problem with Elon? She doesn't like him because he's rich?
All the guests on SNL are rich. Her boss is very rich.
by Anonymous | reply 166 | May 9, 2021 7:03 AM |
[quote] No mom for Alex Moffett?
Everyone knows Alex has two dads. So does Andrew Disney-Nukes.
by Anonymous | reply 167 | May 9, 2021 9:15 AM |
[quote] Why no Aidy????? so so durn good.
She boycotted this show and walked off.
by Anonymous | reply 168 | May 9, 2021 9:15 AM |
[quote] [R109] It's based on Lindy West's memoir and she's very good in it.
Is Lindy West a big fat person?
by Anonymous | reply 169 | May 9, 2021 9:17 AM |
Musk was funnier than any of the cast except Pete. And that's not because Musk was particularly good.
by Anonymous | reply 170 | May 9, 2021 11:54 AM |
I thought it was one of the funnier and and more successful shows of the year and that some of you exist for the purpose of hating this show no matter what happens or what it does. Musk was a good sport, you can't deny that.
by Anonymous | reply 171 | May 9, 2021 12:15 PM |
Musk was funny. The show should continue to stunt cast. Bring on Mike Pence, Bernie Sanders, Bezos, Ted Cruz, etc.
by Anonymous | reply 172 | May 9, 2021 12:22 PM |
more non actors, fun show. we sick of the big headed asswipe washed up actors
by Anonymous | reply 173 | May 9, 2021 12:24 PM |
The monologue is too painful. I’m out.
by Anonymous | reply 174 | May 9, 2021 12:33 PM |
It's so hard to make sense of anything these days... the monologue was like COVID is over, the audience seemed fuller, yet the audience was masked.
by Anonymous | reply 175 | May 9, 2021 12:38 PM |
I wonder if Aidy regrets her flounce. If she thought a bunch of her colleagues would follow her and when they didn’t she was like “uh ohhhh”.
It’s still not exactly clear to me why Elon Musk is SO objectionable, but I’m Old. To me, an overflowing bank balance isn’t a reason to hate a person. Did he do something BAD with his money?
by Anonymous | reply 176 | May 9, 2021 12:51 PM |
I think it's more he's not an 'artist' or performer. It probably all felt too contrived and like a line that shouldn't be crossed? It could have been a disaster and but for Mark Zuckerberg I think Elon Musk is... not a force for good in the world, all things considered, but I can't deny he was a good sport and seemed up for anything. There have been worse hosts.
by Anonymous | reply 177 | May 9, 2021 12:53 PM |

Only lgobal elites are buying Teslas (according to R179's article)? lmao, uh, no. That's the same anti-climate change/anti-electric car talking point that republicans, conservatives and oil and gas freaks use. Not all Teslas are high-end status cars and plenty of people who are not "global elites" have one. It's true that the poor can't even afford the base Tesla Model 3, but they're not buying its fossil fuel competitors either.

It's funny that the Tesla fanbois point at electric cars as saving the planet when Tesla and Elon are huge supporters and investors in Bitcoin, which is offsetting whatever minor good their cars may do.
by Anonymous | reply 191 | May 9, 2021 2:38 PM |
Musk is personally strange, and somewhat erratic, but he's generally making the right things happen (solar power, electric vehicles, recyclable locally-sourced lithium batteries without cobalt) in ways that are economically profitable and therefore actually useful ways to make a significant change toward reducing greenhouse gasses. I agree that cryptocurrencies are seriously problematic on that front - I hope he wises up on that soon.
He's also doing important work in cybernetics, which holds great promise for addressing spinal injuries, motor disfunctions, blindness/deafness, and significant advancement in human communicationis and congnitive capabilities.
Far better than blowing his fortune on mansions, yachts, private islands, and trust fund babies.
by Anonymous | reply 192 | May 9, 2021 2:43 PM |
It's been proven that emissions from fossil fuel vehicles are the worst contributors to climate change, R191. Teslas are good, but I know people with other evs that good too. All the carmakers have them now and will have more models in the coming years.
by Anonymous | reply 193 | May 9, 2021 2:43 PM |
[quote]All the carmakers have them now and will have more models in the coming years.
Tesla's success and engineering has really pushed them along. Most are playing catch-up. You're just now seeing a handful of vehicles that have some of Tesla's features, but Tesla is still years ahead, particularly in charging networks, over-the -air updates, driver-assist (misnamed self-driving) and many other advances. This is all to the good, as other manufacturers have to really push to compete (or they die).
by Anonymous | reply 195 | May 9, 2021 2:49 PM |
It is good, R195.
I probably won't buy a Tesla, but I'll give it to Elon for forcing other carmakers to make a change. He's an odd guy, but I'll give him due credit for this and for opening his supercharger patents.

by Anonymous | reply 205 | May 9, 2021 3:47 PM |
Chevy has a great little EV too, R205. A good friend of mine has it and has been pretty impressed with it, so much so that she plans on trading it in for their SUV version when the time comes. I think it has a range of about 400 k or so. Not as much as a Tesla but for general city driving and shorter commutes it's good.
by Anonymous | reply 206 | May 9, 2021 3:52 PM |
R206 It's the Bolt... range is 260 miles. Probably one of Chevy's better cars.
Lots of new EVs coming out that are not Teslas and are worth exploring. E.g. Hyundai Kona EV.... would never think about buying a Hyundai, but performance and value (@$40k) make it attractive - it has a 480 mile range. Anything under 400 doesn't work for me.
Thanks Elon for going on SNL and inspiring social media posting about EVs that are not Teslas.
by Anonymous | reply 207 | May 9, 2021 4:04 PM |
R207, the Kona doesn't have 480 mile range, it's 415 km for the 2021 model. Both the Bold and the Kona have way more range than the Leaf, which is a fine if you're making short city drives.

Tesla has become the Apple of the auto industry. They're annoying, expensive, sleek, and for yuppies but they're still leading the way and other companies follow in the wake of their innovation.
by Anonymous | reply 220 | May 9, 2021 5:22 PM |
Definitely, R220. I agree with the guy in the video that Teslas appeal to a certain subset, whereas people who care about the environment but need a "regular" car without the prestige buy EVs like the Bolt which is a very good EV but not as sleek as the comparable Tesla.
by Anonymous | reply 221 | May 9, 2021 5:27 PM |
The big problem with electric cars is energy sources are specific to locality. In the Pacific Northwest which is gifted with the Columbia river, the majority of electricity is generated hydroelectrically(2/3 and growing). In Texas electricity relies on natural gas, coal, and wind power (20%). If an electric car is charging in Texas, it's still burning gas.
by Anonymous | reply 222 | May 9, 2021 5:32 PM |
Yes, R222. I don't think we'll ever be totally off of fossil fuels, but that doesn't mean we can't reduce our dependence on them and reduce emissions. There'll never be a perfect fix, but doing something is better than nothing. Same thing with the batteries for EVs. It take fossil fuels to make them and their components need to be mined, but there'd still be an overall drop in the use of fossil fuels if everyone drove an EV.
by Anonymous | reply 223 | May 9, 2021 5:39 PM |
Years ago maybe 2008 or 2009, I was listening to some entertainment show on SIrius and I remember some actress was on and she made the comment that she wanted to have an EV, but at the time the looks of the vehicles didn't appeal to her and she made the comment that EVs looked weird and dorky. For the life of me I can't remember who the actress was.

R221 It's exactly the same situation as the iphone. I much prefer Android products, but without Apple Android doesn't happen. Tesla breaking the mold with an EV that people actually buy opened the door for competitors.

My partner and I watched it this morning and we enjoyed it, and he doesn’t like a lot of comedy. Not the train wreck I was expecting. I admit I know almost nothing about Musk, but he wasn’t terrible and he really tried. We went to our first in person party in a year last night, and that filmed piece captured how we felt last night.

Sure, of course a pair of Rockport shoes are going to be more comfortable, perhaps "better" than a pair of Church's but that's not the point.
The Bolt is ugly. It's a dog. Some people just like luxurious nice looking trendy things.
And the truth is, the resale value on a Model 3 is the highest among all EVs. People consider those things.
Also: the actual automotive press Car&Driver, Motortrend, Edmunds etc. rate the model 3 at the top. Much higher than the Bolt.
by Anonymous | reply 232 | May 9, 2021 6:20 PM |
r193 No shit. My point is that Bitcoin uses as much energy as a small nation currently, and it will only continue to grow, which puts Tesla's "environment first" marketing bullshit firmly in the hypocrisy camp.
by Anonymous | reply 233 | May 9, 2021 6:43 PM |
Yes, R232, but if you want to get more and more people into EVs, then you need vehicles like the Bolt and its contemporaries because they have a much more affordable price point. Once you start adding things like extended range and so on to the Model 3, a $40, 000 car quickly becomes $60, 000 which is too much for many.

by Anonymous | reply 235 | May 9, 2021 7:00 PM |
R233 exactly. This guy is blowing shit off in space frequently, using A LOT of fossil fuels to do so, but we're supposed to be excited about his electric cars that most can't afford -- not just "the poors". Innovative? How? Tesla doesn't even make money, but profits from the government because of losses, on an idea that was in the works long before a rich kid (EM) came along to share his "genious".
Like other wealthy tech nutters with too much money, the main objective is about merging with tech, in some sick scheme to "live forever", and living in space 🙄 For someone who supposedly wants to help save the planet, he sure can't wait to blast off.
This isn't some conspiracy. They all openly discuss this plan of merging our brains/ bodies with technology, admitted there's ways it can go poorly, but they don't care. They really think they're going to live longer, possibly forever, by doing this -- does that sound like a good idea? It would be way different if it were through biological means (i.e., pausing or reversing aging) instead of machines. They have no problem hoarding wealth, manipulating government policies, and risking a global catastrophe, just to get there for their own benefits.
Do we really want this? To allow these wealthy elites to destroy us, so in the end they're extending their lives to extend their grasp on people even longer? I'm 100% about cutting pollution and preserving our beautiful environments, but let's be real, most of the damage was, and still is, coming from the top. The majority could live like paupers tomorrow, using only environmental friendly energies, buying their overpriced "solutions", and we'd still have 70% of emissions coming from these parasitic wealthy dabblers.

R229, what happened to it? some guy shorted it. He bought a bunch and dumped it at a very low price so the price would go down
Why did he do that? His crypto company is behind 2 other coins. Coins that cost a whole lot more than Doge Coin. The price of the coins he's pushing cost $1.57 and $56,000 (yes 56,000) per coin versus Doge Coin's 56 cents a coin
Doge coin is almost up to the same price it was before SNL. And even after the shorting, it's still up 20% from 1 week ago
