The US is such a fucking backwards shit hole

I do wish they would bring back public executions: preferably beheadings. They were such a heavenly day out. An the the-atre is so expensive these days.

A perfect intersection of shameless, ignorant and callous.

by Anonymousreply 2May 6, 2021 11:21 AM

Shoot straight, ya bastards! Don't make a mess of us!

by Anonymousreply 3May 6, 2021 11:22 AM

Prisoners'"Rights" groups did this by their campaign against lethal injection. I've had to have a beloved dog euthanized and she died quickly and painlessly, but that wasn't good enough so this is the alternative.

Dumb question, but why don't they just drain their blood like a blood donation gone to far. Giving blood isn't and unpleasant experience.

The electric chair is cruel.

Hanging often goes wrong. Technically, it is not hanging. It is supposed to be a quick break of the neck, but that doesn't always happen.

Guillotine is messy, though relatively fast and painless.

Firing squad is basically a messy and inefficient version of bleeding to death. Why not just go for simple?

by Anonymousreply 6May 6, 2021 11:28 AM

The fact that we're even discussing the most "humane" way for the state to execute its prisoners shows the depths of our inhumanity.

And then there was Gary Gilmore. Who murdered two men in two separate robberies on succeeding days. He was tried and sentenced to death. The execution was stayed on three occasions. Gilmore became a national media sensation after he fought to have his execution performed as soon as possible. On January 17, 1977, after appeals filed by lawyers on behalf of the American Civil Liberties Union (in defiance of Gilmore's wishes) were rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court, Gilmore was executed by the method he chose: firing squad.

Republicunts are such fucking hypocrites. They're "pro-life" except when a human is no longer encapsulated in a uterus

This is a Republican-authored bill soon to be signed by a Republican governor, no doubt sponsored by the NRA.

America needs a two-party system, but no one said the second one has to be the GOP. That Party has to die.

NYC should think about that too.....the criminals are running wild in the city thanks to this felon coddling mayor. DeBlasio will be gone soon and we will need a Dirty Harry savior it is so bad.

by Anonymousreply 13May 6, 2021 11:55 AM

Good call.

by Anonymousreply 14May 6, 2021 11:59 AM

Yes, by all means, let's set up a firing squad in NY for Giuliani.

Then in Florida for Shitler. More likely, though, we'll be able to reuse the NY squad for the ugly fat fuck.

I agree with this. The Republicans are ruined. I think America is headed to a multi-party system because the racist Trump party will endure as the Republicans. The people like Cheney and Romney who are conservatives but not racists will probably try to start their own party. It may be America goes to a multiparty democracy where coalitions become necessary. I don't know how you will every roll what is left of the Republicans into the process. Maybe they just exist as a freak show rump.

But to heal the country's politics and governance the non Trump Republicans have to split and I think before that things are going to get a lot worse.

The Nazi at R18 is on a bender today. Check its recent posts. This is the second time today that it recommends a "literal holocaust." I hope karma takes the extremist fascist troll in a home fire.

Roast, bitch.

I must have it blocked, r21. Probably vomits that stuff everywhere. The block is a great feature eradicating the limited acumen or caginess trolls.

The situation more clearly described.

The South Carolina House voted Wednesday to add a firing squad to the state's execution methods amid a shortage of lethal-injection drugs - a measure meant to jump-start executions in a state that once had one of the busiest death chambers in the nation.

The bill, approved by a 66-43 vote, will require condemned inmates to choose either being shot or electrocuted if lethal injection drugs aren't available.

The state is one of only nine to still use the electric chair and will become only the fourth to allow a firing squad.

South Carolina can't put anyone to death now because its supply of lethal-injection drugs expired and it has not been able to buy any more.

Currently, inmates can choose between the electric chair and lethal injection. Since the drugs are not available, they choose injection.

The bill retains lethal injection as the primary method of execution if the state has the drugs, but requires prison officials to use the electric chair or firing squad if it doesn't.

'Those families of victims to these capital crimes are unable to get any closure because we are caught in this limbo stage where every potential appeal has been exhausted and the legally imposed sentences cannot be carried out,' said Republican Rep. Weston Newton.

The ASCU and similar organizations had big victory bringing matters to this pointy

Freedom Fries, asshole! Don't you remember that if you don't have history repeat itself it's gonna happen again all over?
