The Biden Economic Boom is Here

[QUOTE]There’s a good chance the stellar first quarter won’t be a flash. A recent poll of economists registered an average forecast of 6.4% growth throughout 2021. If so, it will mark the fastest growth spurt since 1984.

by Anonymousreply 4July 2, 2021 4:20 PM

This is bullshit and you know it’s bullshit. The gap between the rich and the poor is growing and you’re celebrating it, and in doing so you are enabling it. This is just another upward transfer of wealth to people who already have it.

But, but, immigrant caravans, the sudden border crisis, critical race theory, tranny bathrooms, coal jobs, and so many other irrelevant things we need to talk about!!!!

The economy IS NOT booming. There are over 20 MILLION people unemployed, 11 MILLION facing eviction, prices continue to rise annually, etc. The only reason it appears to be booming IS BECAUSE THE SYSTEM IS FLOODED WITH RELIEF MONEY. When the money runs out, and it will, we are going to see a collapse that will rival the Great Depression. If the influx of cash were due to increase in production, better wages, etc, then it would be sustainable, but its only temporary. Those people spending money will not have it on a continuous basis...in fact, they will be left with less. THEY ALWAYS ARE. Weve been to this rodeo MULTIPLE times in the past 50 years, yet we still deny reality and go on as if nothing is wrong...then bitching incessantly when it collapses.

by Anonymousreply 10July 2, 2021 6:35 PM

When is the money going to run out, R10?

by Anonymousreply 17July 16, 2021 1:33 PM

Joe Biden has done more to transfer wealth downward over the past six months than Trump did in four years. And who knows how much more taxes would’ve been cut for the wealthy if the GOP still controlled most branches of government.

by Anonymousreply 18July 16, 2021 1:37 PM

The rich get richer, the poor get poorer.

Good. The poor are usually deplorables so they deserve to be poor.

Hooray for the oligarchy!

by Anonymousreply 19July 16, 2021 1:40 PM

Someone should put the “booming economy” articles next to the ones stating that the reconciliation bill is needed for the “struggling economy”. In this post-truth world, the media doesn’t care if they contradict themselves.

by Anonymousreply 20July 16, 2021 1:47 PM

A less than 1% rise after stores were forcibly closed for months is pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 21July 16, 2021 1:50 PM

R19 stop lying. I’m the OP.

by Anonymousreply 22July 16, 2021 2:22 PM

I have r10 blocked as a racist conservative (redundant?)

President Biden is transferring wealth back down. He has done more with one piece of legislation than anybody since LBJ. Families are getting Biden Bucks starting yesterday. All firmly middle class and down.

We all know the wealthy made out like bandits during the pandemic. That was all under the last idiot.

Once we get this infrastructure bill(s) through it will be more money for the non-rich.

We have plenty of money to spend. We have a revenue problem not a spending problem. The rich want us to be screaming about INFLATION and the DEFICIT and WE’RE RUNNING OUT OF MONEY. No, we’re not. We’re going to take it from the rich and corps. Corps paid 35% of the tax revenue until the 80s. They now pay 7%. It is time we stop using failed conservative economics (briefly interrupted by Clinton and Obama) and start using the liberal economics which gave us a vibrant middle class and a world dominating economy.

by Anonymousreply 23July 16, 2021 2:37 PM

We already are, R23. That's why gas is up, rent is up, and the cost of food is going up. Don't be fooled by media-industrial complex propaganda. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.

LBJ was a terrible president and a racist. The quagmire of Vietnam was his fault. The destruction of Black families by the welfare state was his fault.

by Anonymousreply 24July 16, 2021 2:45 PM

Stop fetishizing middle class mediocrity as something to aspire to.

by Anonymousreply 25July 16, 2021 2:46 PM

"Stop fetishizing middle class mediocrity as something to aspire to."

What a great start to an already great presidency!

Those tax credits going to real people who actually need the money will go back directly into the economy. No more supply side conservative economic bullshit.

Filling back the courts with Dem nominees!

by Anonymousreply 31July 16, 2021 3:53 PM

I created this big, beautiful economy way back in 2011. People are saying is the best economy in history of mankind. Of course, Sleepy Joe Biden is going to take credit for this magnificent, grand economy for which I am 100% responsible. When will the Communists and Radical Left Democrats give me my proper respect that I've earned from creating this fabulous economy?

by Anonymousreply 32July 16, 2021 3:56 PM

r23...you are not very bright are you ? 1. The bipartisan Infrastructure bill includes NO TAX INCREASE FOR THE WEALTHY. What makes you think the reconciliation package will do better ? Because Biden and the machine state otherwise ? The working class has deteriorated over the past 50 years, and throwing money at the problem will not make things better. Biden is trying to make his tax credits for children permanent...that means they arent. So, you have millions of families now going to be relying on that relief only for it to be taken away in the next few years. How is that improving the economy ? Its temporary. Its kicking the problem down the road to be addressed later. Do you think it will be renewed if Republicans take the House or Senate or even the Presidency ? You are deluding yourself. Its not your fault, you have been force fed the propaganda and believe it because you have no choice out of desperation for any help. Giving relief funds to those who are desperate is not transferring the wealth back down, Its helping people in need...and its temporary.

by Anonymousreply 33July 16, 2021 5:23 PM

Why should anybody, rich or poor, have to continue paying more and more in taxes and getting less and less for our money?

by Anonymousreply 34July 16, 2021 5:26 PM

Another reminder that R10 is dumber than a fucking tree stump.

by Anonymousreply 35July 16, 2021 5:31 PM

r23...That Infrastructure bill youre touting as the magic wand to cure all ills of the poor will do the opposite. Yes, some money will trickle down to create jobs, but the vast majority will go to Corporations who specialize in Infrastructure. In turn, a good portion will go to exec bonuses, salaries for the top execs and to the shareholders. IT ALWAYS DOES. History will repeat itself. Its the system. If Biden were serious about Infrastructure, he would enlist the ACOE to implement Infrastructure and to hire the so-called 14 million who will become employed. Note...there will be jobs, but nowhere near the 14 million he claims. Since theyre not raising taxes, we need to borrow...from the RICH. So the Rich dont pay, but will collect the interest over the next few decades on top of receiving the contracts for the Infrastructure. How is that benefiting the working class and poor by increasing our deficits to be handled in the next generation. Contrary to current popular belief, we cant just print money to solve our ills...at least not until we change the system. If we could, we wouldnt be in debt TRILLIONS of dollars.

by Anonymousreply 36July 16, 2021 5:33 PM

R35 is projecting with a burnt-out bulb.

by Anonymousreply 37July 16, 2021 5:33 PM

R34 You’re right. Fuck it. Nobody pay taxes. Lets see where that gets us.

Ok back to a real discussion- the top bracket should at least be upped to 50% coupled with closing loopholes and other tax reforms on the rich. Once we get shit we need AND our debt is going down, then we’ll discuss taxes on the rich further.

Also, President Biden is awesome!

by Anonymousreply 38July 16, 2021 5:38 PM

by Anonymousreply 40July 16, 2021 5:42 PM

I thought we were having massive inflation now?

by Anonymousreply 41July 16, 2021 5:42 PM

r38 is right. People seem to forget that the top tax rate was in the 90% range through the 40s, 50s, and 60s...a time when the middle class thrived. It is not a coincidence that the middle class deteriorated as the tax rates went down. Its nor 21% thanks to Trump. Talk about a tax cut.

by Anonymousreply 42July 16, 2021 5:43 PM

R41 That’s the latest attempt at stopping us from spending the money we’re owed on shit we need. Nobody serious is worried about long term inflation. This is classic supply/demand coming out of a pandemic which everybody sees as working itself out soon.

You can only change wealth inequality through tax reform.

by Anonymousreply 116July 16, 2021 6:59 PM

Economic policies advocated by President Biden had a positive impact. People’s savings were depleted. We’ve been open in much of the country since last summer. However, it wasn’t until the economic COVID relief packages started that things picked up noticeably. People spent that money and it showed in the economic output.

[Quote] The only reason it appears to be booming IS BECAUSE THE SYSTEM IS FLOODED WITH RELIEF MONEY. When the money runs out, and it will, we are going to see a collapse that will rival the Great Depression.

The whole point of a stimulus like every President facing a recession has done to some degree is to prime the economy when it’s at its lowest to start working. After a while, it starts to hum again on its own. This current depression was caused by Trump taking away money from the middle class and giving it to the wealthy AND people being fired from jobs because of COVID. COVID will be gone soon and hopefully Biden will tax the wealthy.

The economy will come back

[quote]and in 4 years Trump NEVER went above 50% approval. In fact, I dont think he ever even hit 50%

You're STILL talking about Trump?

Right now, the polling organization YouGov (which 538 gives a rating of B+) has Biden with an approval rating of 47%.

Nothing to brag about.

by Anonymousreply 134July 17, 2021 12:11 AM

by Anonymousreply 136July 17, 2021 12:14 AM

[quote] The whole point of a stimulus like every President facing a recession has done to some degree is to prime the economy when it’s at its lowest to start working. After a while, it starts to hum again on its own. This current depression was caused by Trump taking away money from the middle class and giving it to the wealthy AND people being fired from jobs because of COVID. COVID will be gone soon and hopefully Biden will tax the wealthy.

The extremely wealthy are the ones who benefited the most from the pandemic. Local businesses are hurting the most, many of whom closed permanently due to the restrictions or losing money because of having to operate at limited capacity. Those stimulus checks won't cover the essentials. All those bills will be due and when they are, it will be one giant shit show.

by Anonymousreply 137July 17, 2021 12:14 AM

R135 What's my point? Follow the thread.

The base is not moved to vote like they are for TFG. Every election where he was not on the ballot since 2017 saw swings to the Dems by 20-30 points from the 2016 baseline. You saw more come out in 2020 with him on the ballot. When he’s not on the ballot, the base isn’t enamored with republicans anymore. There are no “stars” like TFG to them.

[quote]This is pretty key data for 2022 no 2024.

Results vary among the polls.

At the moment The Economis/YouGov (which 538 rates more reliable than IPSOS) has Biden's approval rating among independents at only 42%.

by Anonymousreply 174July 17, 2021 7:55 PM

by Anonymousreply 176July 17, 2021 9:47 PM

At this point, ONLY the A rated polls count. Anything below that is a waste of time. Why? There is no money being thrown at polls now so the less than A rated polls are highly inaccurate though there is no way President Biden’s approval rating among any group aside from republicans his below 50%.

by Anonymousreply 177July 17, 2021 9:53 PM

R177, there isn’t a lot of recent data from A list pollsters (on 538). The ones from early July are around 51-42.

by Anonymousreply 180July 17, 2021 10:09 PM

[quote]At this point, ONLY the A rated polls count.

The last A rated poll on 538 is from July 4th.

IBD/TIPP. Ranked A+. Their highest ranking.

They show Biden's approval at 50%.

by Anonymousreply 181July 17, 2021 10:10 PM

by Anonymousreply 183July 17, 2021 10:21 PM

I've actually seen data that Biden's numbers among independents are trending down, but they're still fine. The one thing the Rs can hit him with that will have any traction is immigration. They can go nuts on trans all they want and America shrugs.

Sorry girls. Trans issues just don't make America angry. Just you.

by Anonymousreply 184July 18, 2021 1:13 AM

Looks like all this "Biden's popularity is eroding" talk is a matter of two or three percentage points. It's so marginal that other articles can say his popularity is "soaring" and also be correct.

If it's truly about the economy as articles are claiming then that should pick up at the end of the summer. The economy in the U.S. in the summer is always sluggish.

Biden approval rating.

Latest Economist/YouGov poll (rated "B+" by 538) Biden approval rating: 46%

Monmouth University (rated "A" by 538) Biden approval rating: 48%

by Anonymousreply 188July 29, 2021 9:35 PM

And even then they are grading on a curve.

by Anonymousreply 189July 29, 2021 9:37 PM

One thing I noticed while Donald was still in office and acting nuts is that the economy seems to have become slightly immune to the political turmoil in Washington. I don't see this year's stellar growth as helping most Americans. Yes, I'm worth about 18% more than last year. But, the problems in our economy will eventually end and possibly reverse the recent growth. Then of course, the lounge will blame it all on Donald even if he's been out several years.

Unemployment falls to 5.4%

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 193August 6, 2021 3:30 PM

Lets be clear. The economy is rebounding, not booming. Jobs have NOT increased...these are people who were unemployed due to Covid...they are not newly created jobs. The reason...26 States pulled unemployment in June and people had no choice but to go back to work while a pandemic is surging again, for lower wages and longer hours. The economy is rebounding because we keep throwing money into it. This is not rocket science. When the money dissapates, the economy will crash. Example...Child Tax Credits. You now have millions receiving anywhere from 300 to 3000 per month based on the number of children they have. It is not permanent and will expire in 2 years. Those millions of people, most of who need the money desperately, will adjust their budgets to accommodate the influx of cash...paying for things they couldnt afford before and improving their overall quality of life. What happens when the funds end (i know Biden wants to make them permanent, but hasnt) ? People will go from being able to pay their bills to having their budgets cut by a third if not more. Think of it like the eviction moratorium...11 million people were given a reprieve, but eventually face being homelessness. All it will take is a court order and they will be thrown onto the streets. I know theere is rental relief that is not distributed, but the reality is that the relief dollars are only HALF of what is needed, so many will face eviction anyway...through no fault of their own.

by Anonymousreply 194August 6, 2021 3:50 PM

You're awfully confident that the only reason unemployment is going down is 26 states (which don't represent the bulk of America's economy) yanking their extended unemployment.

I don't think you're all wrong, but things are never so simple.

Aug 7th...538 average...Biden approval: 50.2%

by Anonymousreply 198August 6, 2021 6:06 PM

Better than Trump ever got. It's actually pretty good considering 30% of the country are being continually told he's a brain-dead zombie operating at the behest of international Jewish socialism.

by Anonymousreply 199August 6, 2021 6:40 PM

r195...I didnt say it was the ONLY reason but it is a big part of it. Regardless of their States contribution, if you have 10 million unemployed and 4 million are FORCED back to work, unemployment goes down.

R196...reality isnt always positive. There is a reason the working/middle class is a shell of what it once was. Until we stop denying reality, it will never change and in 99% likelihood, will only get worse.

by Anonymousreply 200August 6, 2021 6:44 PM

R200 And if new lockdowns commence, it'll be far sooner than later.
