Do you have a relative you suspect of murder?

I’m pretty sure my grandpa murdered a business associate in the 1980s. I did some snooping and found out that he and at least one of my uncles were investigated pretty hard, but there was no real evidence.

Except for the fact that my grandpa had forged the business associate’s signature on some paperwork to transfer property to his name shortly before said business associate’s body was found in a creek bed. But that was just a coincidence. I always knew my grandpa was a cold son of a bitch, but…damn.

Suspect? Not exactly. He was convicted.

My aunt’s second husband’s son ran over & killed a man & left him to die. Drove home drunk, went to bed. Woke up, saw damage to car, said he hit a deer. Police came, arrested him for leaving the scene of an accident but couldn’t charge him with drunk driving & couldn’t prove he didn’t think he’d hit a deer because there were no street lights on the road. Guess what color he was?

My mother’s cousin killed her boyfriend ...stabbed him to death. Pleaded self defence & got off because of multiple documented ER visits for domestic abuse where she had broken bones, bruises, black eyes. She was as much of a fighter as he was. They were two peas in a pod who deserved their skanky-assed selves.

My cousin was arrested for downloading adolescent porn. It’s called Ephebophilia. His while family was in denial, swearing he was “snared” and it was all a mistake. “Somebody sent him a porn video via email, he opened it, sent it back and and said “I’m not into this.” Claims that sending it back is what got him in trouble since he it meant he accidentally “transmitted” child porn.”

We said we’d get our other cousin who was a computer genius to testify in court that the cousin merely opened & retuned the email, since the time he opened it & sent it back would be very short .. plus his email history would show he didn’t ask for this to be sent to him......

and all of a sudden “the police lost the computer.”

Me: Ma, the police can’t prosecute without the computer or hard drive.

My Gullible Mother: They’re the police! They can do anything!

Me: Ma, he’s white & his family is paying a private attorney tens of thousands of dollars to defend him. The attorney isn’t going to let the cops show up in court with no proof a crime was committed.

My Gullible Mother: But the world is against him!

Me: What did the lawyer say?

My gullible mother: He said if he’s innocent he will go free. But if he’s not innocent, he will have to pay the price, which means he’ll go to jail.

Me: There you go.

Also, I got hold of the local paper online, with a photo of my cousin on the front page, saying that they’d found CDs with over 200 images on it that were downloaded from the internet.

My mother: They probably planted them on him!

My mother spent the rest of her life babying this (jailed for years) pedo, sending him money every month, driving hours to see him, voting for every GOP “law & order” candidate, supporting the police, going to church twice a week and looking down on me because I put myself through college while working for 20 years and wasn’t religious. I was the baddie.

My mother’s family is trash

Yes. I'd say it was probably over 50% chance that he did it - but not enough hard evidence.

Murder charges are more difficult than you think.

40% of murder cases in the US go unsolved. That's a little less than half. Think about that.
