Meh.
Why did they make it look so 80s?

The casting for Marisa Berenson is spot on. Uncanny!
I can't wait to to see this, but I do hope they focus on his influential fashion career and not just fixate on the salacious details of his personal life. Who am I kidding?! This a Ryan Murphy production.

Agreed. And the soundtrack is fun, but pure 80s. The 1980s were Halston's downfall. His rise and success was in the disco 70s.
I will say that Macgregor has nailed Halston's voice and inflections, though. He might be worth tuning in for.

Depeche Mode’s Enjoy the Silence was 1990
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 3, 2021 4:02 PM |
Well, he died in 1990.
So "Enjoy The Silence" is especially grim. Is it all a recollection on his deathbed? Uggh.

Can it just be a rule that all Studio 54 films should use I Feel Love in their trailers?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 3, 2021 4:05 PM |
Beautiful costumes and set design in trailer. Anachronistic soundtrack. Ewan fucking McGregor - woefully miscast.

The Halston doc on Prime was really good -- footage of the man all the way through. LOTS of fashion.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 3, 2021 4:24 PM |
I enjoyed the Halston doc on Prime, it even featured a lucid Liza!

I loved SNL's The Pat Steven's Show when she interviewed Halston about over-licensing his name, "What's next? Halston aquarium gravel at Walgreens?"

More interested about this one. Vanessa Redgrave is back, bitches!
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 3, 2021 4:48 PM |
Miscast. Halston was more 70s so why are they using 80’s Depeche Mode?

That's from 2 years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 3, 2021 5:23 PM |
What does Redgrave have to do with Halston? Nothing. But good job on the google.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 3, 2021 5:57 PM |
Halshton

R12 is too poor to start a thread, so she hijacks others

No reviews and it drops Friday? It must be a turd. Netflix already released Army of the Dead to critics and that drops next week.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 12, 2021 12:19 PM |
Can shows choose when reviews of the new season are released? Btw the Independent reviewed it 3 out of 5 stars. Said that despite all the sex and drugs its very sanitized and not as flashy as Murphy usual stuff. That's disappointing. Murphys over the top flair is the main reason I watch his shows. It's not for the writing.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 12, 2021 3:08 PM |
I guess his family should be happy that according to that review it isnt as salacious as I expected. Murphy has stopped being as provocative as he used to be. I wonder if what really upsets these families of the subject is that they arent making money off of it.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 12, 2021 3:17 PM |
Any full frontal?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 12, 2021 3:30 PM |
R21 if the reviewer said its "sanitized" I doubt there is ass much less full frontal.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 12, 2021 3:34 PM |
I'm still curious to see this, but there is so much less critical and popular buzz and anticipation about a new Ryan Murphy project for Netflix than there was a couple of years ago.
This rather scathing article is almost a year old, and predates THE PROM and some other Murphy projects.

where is this review from the independent. If you click the link in google news, it comes up blank
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 13, 2021 2:48 PM |
Oh I guess it was pulled. So there is an embargo
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 13, 2021 3:22 PM |
It was a lukewarm review. Had some good things to say though. It seems like a bad thing that this is out tomorrow and no reviews.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 13, 2021 3:23 PM |
Looking forward to this on Friday. I hope all episodes drop at once so I may binge watch this weekend.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 13, 2021 3:24 PM |
I'll watch it for sure. I've never liked that Halston 70's style though. And it doesn't help that I'm short so I can't even imagine how I'd look in it. In the 70's my Barbies all came in those types of dresses. I didn't know what I wanted but it wasn't that. I couldn't name it, but what I imagined them wearing was a poofy Marie Antoinette dress or at least a Dior dress with body, not those straight dresses.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 13, 2021 4:02 PM |
Isn't Halston, the person not the show, pretty much a cautionary tale of spreading your brand too thin by selling out and slapping your name on everything for a quick buck?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 13, 2021 4:33 PM |
R31 - Sounds more like Pierre Cardin and Oleg Cassini. than Halston.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 13, 2021 4:38 PM |
R10 In what fifteen minutes of her life was Liza lucid?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 14, 2021 1:08 PM |

No but I don’t—that’s the one I don’t want to sell.
Oh, the ring? The ring?
No. That’s a Halston!
