Elizabeth Warren: Democratic party was reluctant to nominate a woman in 2020

“ In a new book, the Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren suggests part of the reason for her failure in the race for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination lay in the party’s reluctance to nominate another woman

“I had to run against the shadows of Martha and Hillary,” Warren writes in Persist, which will be published on Tuesday, the Washington Post reported

Hillary Clinton, a former New York senator and secretary of state, lost the 2016 presidential election to Donald Trump.

Martha Coakley, an attorney general of Massachusetts, lost a 2010 election for a US Senate seat long held by Ted Kennedy, to Scott Brown, and a 2014 gubernatorial election to Charlie Baker.

Both women started as favourites but suffered losses which dealt crushing blows to Democrats on the national stage. Warren led the 2020 Democratic primary early on. In her book, the Post said, she repeats a conversation with her husband, Bruce Mann, who said: “Babe, you could actually do this. You could be president.” Warren also writes about she imagined her inauguration.

She should thank her lucky stars she didn't get nominated. Trump would have taunted her throughout the campaign and then beaten her.

by Anonymousreply 2May 2, 2021 5:40 PM

I like her a lot, but I don’t think she was in control of her own destiny in that campaign. Bernie’s people were all in for him, so she needed him to stumble. I thought maybe the heart attack would do it, but he stayed in. As the campaign went on, she became increasingly desperate, and decided to try to distinguish herself by going hard left on social issues. It backfired, and that was the end for her. But she played an important role at the end when she cut Bloomberg’s throat and ended his campaign on that debate stage in Nevada.

A statement from the Toronto Trans Collective
The Toronto Trans Collective has previously welcomed Elizabeth Warren's support for trans people, including her proposal to delegate her selection of Education Secretary to a trans child. The Toronto Trans Collective is, however, distressed to read Elizabeth Warren centering her identity as a cisgender woman as her failure to win the nomination from the Democrats for the presidency. Elizabeth Warren is not a trans woman, will never be a trans woman, and even if she walks a mile in a trans woman's shoes she will never know what it is like to be a trans woman, even if she gets a blister or verruca. Denying the existence of trans people is an act of extreme violence and Elizabeth Warren should know better.

The ONLY concern I had for 2020 was that the Democratic nominee had the highest likelihood of beating cheeto.

That Warren has to opine, complain, or point out hesitancy to nominate a woman is EXACTLY what they shouldn't have nominated a woman if there were ANY question about beating cheeto.

I simply don't care whether the nominee was a70 year old white guy if he had the best chance of beating cheeto. PERIOD.

by Anonymousreply 6May 2, 2021 6:00 PM

They did nominate a worman: Kamala Harris. Everyone knows Joe Biden will not finish out his term.

by Anonymousreply 7May 2, 2021 6:04 PM

Not wrong. Democrats will continue to slide right to appease nervous nellies that believe healthcare and a living wage are omg socialism! Then play dumb when they lose elections because both sides are the same.

mSNBC and CNN had news programs that for months at a time were essentially Elizabeth Warren for President I infomercials and had the backing of powerful people like Barrack Obama. Her ass was kissed in editorials across the country and The NYT and every other newspaper in the country endorsed her.

And she couldn’t even come second in one single state. Let alone win one.

by Anonymousreply 13May 2, 2021 6:38 PM

I'm really going to need people to stop acting like Warren's biggest issue was sexism.

Warren's biggest issue was her lack of political skills, which led to her not creating her own plan on healthcare, campaigning the least in black states, and the whole DNA issue.

Nobody would try to tackle Pete Buttigieg, who is a fierce debater, on high-dollar fundraisers when there is literally photos of you doing the exact same fundraisers.

She thought bc he was a small-town mayor, he was easy prey. Instead, she placed lower than him in every state

by Anonymousreply 15May 3, 2021 2:39 AM

Maybe they just didn’t want a woman who said she’d let a teenage tranny pick her cabinet members for her?

by Anonymousreply 16May 3, 2021 2:40 AM

Seeing her cut up Bloomberg was hysterical though. I bet she doesn't think about it that often but I bet he is holding on to a grudge.

by Anonymousreply 17May 3, 2021 2:42 AM
[R6] graduated with honors "racial slurs are ok when Republicans are on the receiving end" school of debate.

Um, what racial slurs? Which rethugs were on what receiving end?

People really need to learn basic reading skills. Calling Biden a 70 year old white guy is in context to the claim that there was reluctance to nominate a woman - they went with a more traditional and uncontroversial choice - not the gay guy, not the woman, not the angry white guy "progressive".

by Anonymousreply 18May 3, 2021 2:43 AM

R2 I tend to agree. Just look at the unforced error of her publishing her DNA test.

I did love her brutal smackdown of Bloomberg, though.

by Anonymousreply 19May 3, 2021 2:45 AM

Chief sitting bull embarrassed herself towards the end of the primary. She came across as incredibly desperate and was willing to say anything.

by Anonymousreply 20May 3, 2021 2:45 AM

Sadly, the Dems needed a white man and a minority/black woman to win this election. I predicted it long before the election.

That’s what the Dems did and they won.

by Anonymousreply 21May 3, 2021 2:46 AM

Warren was an extraordinary candidate, full of energy. She electrified her audiences with great ideas.

America just isn’t ready for her

by Anonymousreply 22May 3, 2021 2:47 AM

“ The Toronto Trans Collective has previously welcomed Elizabeth Warren's support for trans people, including her proposal to delegate her selection of Education Secretary to a trans child”

The trans child picking a education secretary thing will never fail to make me lmao. Who the hell was advising her?

by Anonymousreply 23May 3, 2021 2:47 AM

So it has nothing to do with the fact that she’s a racist, pathological liar and an insane, woke bitch.

by Anonymousreply 24May 3, 2021 2:52 AM

She had the same problem as Hillary. Desperate to get the job, but zero personality.

When she debuted her "at home with Liz Warren" video, it was like something from Mad TV. She runs to the refrigerator to get herself a beer. "I'm just gonna get me a beer." Her husband wanders in and looks like he doesn't know what's going on and then she THANKS him for being there...in his own home! Her PR people should have been honest and told her that she lost the election then and there.

by Anonymousreply 25May 3, 2021 2:54 AM

She comes across as a mean librarian. She was quite clearly the smartest person who was running but that doesn’t mean much. She has little speak outside of the Northeast Acela corridor.

by Anonymousreply 26May 3, 2021 2:54 AM

R22 I don’t really think we elect presidents for ideas, but for personality.

If she’s an idea person, the Senate is ostensibly a better place for her.

by Anonymousreply 27May 3, 2021 2:56 AM

R25 Lol! I remember watching that and people here were commenting she might as well had "cracked open the bottle with her teeth" and "slapped her husband's ass" to show how relatable she was.

by Anonymousreply 28May 3, 2021 2:57 AM

R25 well you’re half right. Hillary had both poise and smarts and wiped the floor with Trump in every debate. If it weren’t for Comey and too many stupid people, she would have won.

Warren would have won about as many states as Dukakis. She’s a shrill librarian.

by Anonymousreply 29May 3, 2021 2:58 AM
well you’re half right. Hillary had both poise and smarts and wiped the floor with Trump in every debate.

Fake news. The only part of the three debates that anyone even remembers is Trump telling Hillary that she’d be in jail.

But he kicked her ass in all three of them. It was pretty glorious.

by Anonymousreply 30May 3, 2021 3:04 AM

"Both sides are the same."

Really? Did Repugs vote to give you that $1,400 check you just got? Did they extend unemployment benefits? Are they proposing voting rights legislation? Did Biden rescind Trump's ban of flying the rainbow flag on US embassies?

Yeah - the same, uh-huh.

by Anonymousreply 31May 3, 2021 3:10 AM

R31, Nancy Pelosi famously said the $600 stimulus check in January was “satisfactory”. It wasn’t until Trump spoke up that she changed her mind. The original plan she was backing up didn’t even include the $600 at all.

She is nasty and corrupt.

by Anonymousreply 32May 3, 2021 3:18 AM

R13, please present links. I don't know what you are smoking, but Warren was erased. She came in 3rd in Iowa, Biden was barely a blip on the radar and NO ONE WOULD MENTION her performance in MSM.

by Anonymousreply 33May 3, 2021 3:23 AM

OMG this bitch. Too bad they aren't more trans children voters in the primary, hey?

by Anonymousreply 34May 3, 2021 3:26 AM

R4 this is gold satire, love it.

by Anonymousreply 35May 3, 2021 3:28 AM
Did Repugs vote to give you that $1,400 check you just got?

To be fair, Biden campaigned on $2,000, then only gave $1,400 but try to include Trump’s $600 as money he gave to total $2,000.

I just received a letter from Biden perpetuating that lie. Democrats can’t take the high road when they are lying through their teeth.

by Anonymousreply 36May 3, 2021 3:28 AM

Doesn’t Pocahontas have some billionaires to talk about?

by Anonymousreply 37May 3, 2021 3:30 AM

R33, Nobody talked about her performance because she had epic failures in every state. She got a super pac after attacking other candidates for using them and the media didn’t say a thing about the blatant hypocrisy it wouldn’t go unchecked for others. She got declared the winner of every single debate by the pundits other than the one in June they declared Kamala the winner.

Biden wasn’t a blip? That’s not true. The media always made a big deal about how he would recover in South Carolina. T

The media was still rooting for her until the very end and had a day of mourning when she dropped out. I watched CNN as they had one woman on after the other to cry and talk about how legendary her run was as if she was the first woman to fail in a primary.

by Anonymousreply 38May 3, 2021 3:31 AM

No one is "acting" anything R14. She has written a book. If you don't like what she has to say, don't read it. And by the way Buttigieg couldn't debate his way out of a box. He totally failed with the a Black family, whose son was killed by a white cop in his town when he was mayor. He's a grifter who was made Transportation Secretary as a political gift, not because he has the slightest qualifications. He'll never win a statewide election and, like Blanche Dubois, he'll always depend on the kindness of strangers.

by Anonymousreply 39May 3, 2021 3:37 AM

I liked her for about 5 min. last year. Then her fake, whispery televangelist voice and rudeness repelled me.

Joe wasn't very good in debates and made people doubt him. But in hindsight he was the only choice all along.

by Anonymousreply 40May 3, 2021 3:40 AM

She'd have probably lost to Trump. There is just something crabby and mean about her demeanor. She reminds you of that awful Algebra teacher you had.

The country was in crisis. They needed a calming presence not someone who reminded them of some nun who hit them with a ruler.

(notice how Kamala remade herself into the fun Veep to win over people and not the stern senator who interrogated Kavanaugh. People need to like the person they vote for.

by Anonymousreply 41May 3, 2021 3:40 AM

A real leader takes responsibility for their failures, they don't blame everyone else. Taking credit for just the wins and foisting the losses off onto others is pathetic and immature. She and the former guy have that in common.

by Anonymousreply 42May 3, 2021 3:48 AM

She did get caught in a bunch of lies, not just the Native American thing.

by Anonymousreply 43May 3, 2021 3:50 AM

They were reluctant to nominate an old scold like her is more like it. During last years Democratic debates she focused on Little Mikey Bloomberg's NDAs (non disclosure agreements) instead of discussing issues the country was concerned about including the then impending pandemic.

by Anonymousreply 44May 3, 2021 3:50 AM

She is far more qualified than Hillbilly Mayor Pete. Plus she didn't create a SuperPAC to enrich herself--like Pete has...

by Anonymousreply 45May 3, 2021 3:52 AM

Yeah, yeah, yeah: woulda, coulda, shoulda.

Honey, you ran for the nomination, and you lost. Get over it, and go do your highly-paid and highly prestigious job.

I'm sorry, but there are some people for whom the sympathy just runs dry.

by Anonymousreply 46May 3, 2021 3:57 AM

R45 Being more qualified than Pete isn't impressive.

by Anonymousreply 47May 3, 2021 3:57 AM

She’s so much more qualified yet he outdid her by all metrics. And he did it with the media and the internet’s boot on his neck unlike miss Warren.

She should go back to lawyering for evil corps and leave politics alone.

by Anonymousreply 57May 3, 2021 5:35 AM

Just read a few threads here in DL and you’ll quickly see how “friendly” men are toward women in general. Sexism plays a role in every election with women just as race/ethnicity does, etc. Women and minorities are seen as token members of their group while White men arent, because they are seen as the default. Science backs this up in hiring practices, etc etc etc.

With that said, there are multiple factors at play, sexism being one of them, and Warren’s anti-corporation stance another.

by Anonymousreply 67May 3, 2021 6:44 AM
Is warren on any committee? Heading anything?

She's on the Committee on Banking, Housing & Urban Affairs.

She's on the Committee on Finance.

She's on the Special Committee on Aging.

She's on the Committee on Armed Services.

And she's on Subcommittee's for Airland, Personnel and finally Strategic Forces.

The only thing I can say about Datalounge and other's opinions on her is that at least no one doubted that she was good at anything related to Finance.

by Anonymousreply 68May 3, 2021 6:47 AM

She was too school teacher like. Not the good one that you remember all your life, but the one that always scolded you.

That's why she didn't win.

by Anonymousreply 69May 3, 2021 7:07 AM

by Anonymousreply 70May 3, 2021 7:49 AM

She had plans for literally everything. She was left of Bernie but could actually pay for it. But apparently her voice makes dude's dicks fall off

by Anonymousreply 71May 3, 2021 8:02 AM

She lost because she got sick with wokeness. Furthermore, she refused to explain how she would pay for healthcare plan. I agree with whoever said she was desperate. Even when she knew the walls were closing in, she bragged about taking $5.00 from a broke college student to finance her doomed ambitions. She’s really hypocritical too. She says she’s anti millionaires and billionaires but they’re the reason she got elected to the Senate.

When all else fails, blame sexism or Trump. Similarly, Kamala knew she was doomed in October 2019 and pulled out the race and gender cards.

by Anonymousreply 72May 3, 2021 4:05 PM

The only good thing about her campaign was that she stayed in the race an extra day or two after Super Tuesday and that’s how Biden luckily got the nomination.

by Anonymousreply 73May 3, 2021 4:06 PM

She was the smartest candidate who ran but she was just too woke and too fake. Whoever came up with that campaign announcement video should be killed. Because of that video, her campaign was over before it even started.

by Anonymousreply 74May 3, 2021 4:10 PM

She's not smarter than Pete.

by Anonymousreply 75May 3, 2021 4:12 PM

She made the excellent point that the Secretary of Education should be someone who had worked in the public school system, but no one remembers that because she immediately followed it up with the ridiculous 'trans child' thing (in front of a bunch of Iowa hausfraus? How many transkids could there possibly be in Iowa anyway?).

She constantly, [italic]constantly[/italic] got in her own way and it was so frustrating to watch. It also had nothing to do with Mayor Pete, so it beggars belief why the Warrenistas are still so bitter towards Buttigieg.

by Anonymousreply 76May 3, 2021 4:17 PM

by Anonymousreply 79May 3, 2021 4:42 PM

Elizabeth Warren's undoing was Elizabeth Warren. She had a plan for everything except for having a plan for everything. She really started to unravel when Stephen Colbert pressed her for the details on her healthcare plan and she didn't have any.

Warren had the same problem Hillary did, something everyone in a corporate job is well aware of: the smartest person in the room rarely makes the best CEO.

Warren is great in the Senate where she can enact policy--that is her strength. She was not particularly relatable to anyone with a high school or bachelor's degree and still comes off like a professor at a particularly stodgy but prestigious liberal arts college.

Her background--growing up working class in Oklahoma, single mom working her way through college--might have counted for something if you could see traces of it in her personality, but that was not the case.

She's best off in her current job as Senator, it's where she can do the most good.

by Anonymousreply 87May 3, 2021 5:42 PM

I guess she has to justify losing the nomination any way she can, but the real reason is obviously because people had had sufficient of screaming, mad, overly-woke, socialist candidates, including Bernie.

by Anonymousreply 96May 3, 2021 6:48 PM

She was the sole senator who waited until the primaries were over to endorse Hillary in '16, long after Sanders had no mathematical chance to overtake Hillary. She supported Sanders when he said "me and my supporters may choose not to vote for Secretary Clinton should she win the nomination."

Warren and Sanders were a factor in Trump winning and all the damage that came from it.

by Anonymousreply 98May 3, 2021 7:21 PM

Warren never supported Sanders in 2016, which is why the Bernie Bros still harbor resentment towards her. I believe she endorsed Clinton prior to the Massachusetts primary held on Super Tuesday. The Bros believe this endorsement delivered Mass and Super Tuesday to Clinton.

by Anonymousreply 99May 3, 2021 7:38 PM

Sorry, Warren didn't endorse anyone until June when she endorsed Clinton. Bros hated her for not endorsing Bernie and then "selling out" by endorsing Clinton prior to the convention.

by Anonymousreply 100May 3, 2021 7:41 PM

The only reason she didn’t endorse Sanders is because she wanted to stay on the party elites’ good side in preparation for her presidential run. People like Obama never would have raised funds for her if she had betrayed Clinton.

The funniest thing about R102 's picture is the "Hon." in front of Hillary's name.

by Anonymousreply 108May 4, 2021 3:32 PM

r105 Like I said, Sanders and Warren were *a* factor. The press was reporting on Warren's delayed endorsement and Sanders' lukewarm not-quite endorsement. Sanders, after losing the MI primary, "My supporters and I may choose to not vote for Secretary Clinton if she wins the nomination." Now the country is in tatters and Russia almost toppled the US government all thanks to Donald Trump.

by Anonymousreply 109May 4, 2021 8:35 PM

Donald Trump almost toppled the country, that's true, but Hillary's loss belongs right on her own doorstep.

by Anonymousreply 110May 4, 2021 9:09 PM
Donald Trump almost toppled the country, that's true, but Hillary's loss belongs right on her own doorstep.

Bernie Sanders played a role in undermining her. He continued to campaign against her long after she became the nominee.

by Anonymousreply 111May 4, 2021 11:45 PM

She should’ve taken a page out of Kamala’s book: you don’t want to be the last one to leave the party. Once Gabbard started attacking Kamala’s past as a prosecutor, it was all over for her. She never got out of the single digits and her fundraising was shot. She was smart to drop out when she did. Pocahontas should’ve dropped out before 2020 to preserve her chance of getting picked as someone’s VP.

by Anonymousreply 112May 4, 2021 11:54 PM

She posted a video of her giving a wrapped burrito to her dog. Whenever she tries to come across as normal and relatable, it’s just so disingenuous. All politicians lie but whenever she’s pressed on policy details she just lies and evades.

by Anonymousreply 113May 5, 2021 12:00 AM

She's so yesterday news.

by Anonymousreply 114May 5, 2021 1:20 AM

WTF is "reluctant to nominate a woman"? There was a primary election and the winner of each state get the election vote. You lost then you got no vote. I think what she meant is ," DNC didn't rig the election for me".

by Anonymousreply 115May 5, 2021 1:25 AM

She spins and evades on everything she says.

by Anonymousreply 116May 5, 2021 3:33 PM

She didn't get nominated simply because as a person she was/is too annoying.

by Anonymousreply 117May 6, 2021 1:10 AM

She should have just embraced that she’s a Harvard professor who was smarter than everybody else on the debate stage. Instead she tried to act all folksy and down-home, and it came off as incredibly fake.

by Anonymousreply 118May 6, 2021 11:42 AM

Joe was a safe bet. He'd win back the people we needed. Now, LOL! He's governing from the Left. He should have put Elizabeth in his cabinet, except she can be too inflexible. Also, I think when her brother died it took a lot out of her. She seemed to step back.

by Anonymousreply 119May 6, 2021 12:12 PM

She’s a liar and a cunt. Why she complain? She lie and make um heap wampum.

by Anonymousreply 120May 6, 2021 12:13 PM

R119 tye governor of Massachusetts is a republican and would appoint a republican replacement until an election. So she was probably never considered for a position.

by Anonymousreply 121May 6, 2021 3:51 PM

Smart accomplished women scare Americans.

That’s why they come up with shit like “She isn’t relatable.” Etc

by Anonymousreply 122May 6, 2021 10:46 PM

She never lied. That’s all Republican BS

by Anonymousreply 123May 6, 2021 10:46 PM

Her ideas would have moved America forward economically and health wise.

Instead we’re going to keep fighting about healthcare and tax cuts for the next 30’years

No, it belongs at Russia’s doorstep.

by Anonymousreply 128May 6, 2021 10:50 PM

R124, her “ideas” would not do anything. Her grand “ideas” all required her to be elected and then pass laws. The first is a stretch, since she never even beat a Democrat. The second is next to impossible. I’m not seeing Joe Manchin overturning the filibuster to pass a wealth tax.

by Anonymousreply 129May 6, 2021 11:56 PM

Democrats have a real problem with women. Real women. Not the pretend.

by Anonymousreply 130May 6, 2021 11:59 PM

R130 is correct. At least the Republicans are honest about it. Democrats hide their misogyny behinds all kinds of pathetic mistrust. It's not just Warren they have a problem with, it's all women.

by Anonymousreply 131May 7, 2021 12:08 AM

But they sure love men that wear dresses and wigs.

by Anonymousreply 132May 7, 2021 12:09 AM

R125, her healthcare plan for one. He spin and evasion on that was documented.

by Anonymousreply 133May 7, 2021 12:11 AM

Oops, r133 was meant for R126.

by Anonymousreply 134May 7, 2021 12:12 AM

No, it was meant for r124!

Well—not really. Women here are called “cunts” and lesbians are called “dykes”. They’re not called “women” or “lesbians”.

No, r135. It was R126. You mad there's an example?
She had the same problem as Hillary. Desperate to get the job, but zero personality.

Hillary does have a personality and you can see it in her documentary. Warren seems like an old professor on and off screen.

by Anonymousreply 139May 7, 2021 12:40 AM

STFU Liz. It's you nobody likes. You came in THIRD in the Democratic primary in Massachusetts. You came in 4th in the primaries of the states where you lived the longest: Oklahoma and Texas. To know you is to hate you apparently.

by Anonymousreply 140May 7, 2021 12:45 AM
Women here are called “cunts” and lesbians are called “dykes”. They’re not called “women” or “lesbians”.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the males on here calling women dykes while crying about homophobia in the same breath. What a joke they are.

by Anonymousreply 141May 7, 2021 12:45 AM

Warren had many flaws, but what ultimately doomed her campaign was her stubborn insistence on Medicare for All and her stubborn refusal to say whether she would raise taxes to pay for it. She had to know she would face that question, and she didn't have an answer. It was obvious to everyone that she was evading the question.

A typical exchange from the debates:

MODERATOR: Sen. Warren, you support Medicare for all. How much will it cost, and will you have to raise taxes to pay for it?

WARREN: Let me tell you about a single mother I met in Iowa who works two jobs and still can't afford to see a doctor ...

by Anonymousreply 142May 7, 2021 12:50 AM
Hillary does have a personality and you can see it in her documentary.

Lol. Who gives a shit about her documentary? Hillary is fine when she is not expected to perform. But on the debate stage, in townhalls, she fails everytime. You know, when it actually matters.

by Anonymousreply 143May 7, 2021 12:51 AM

Debates and townhalls don't require a personality. The problem with Hillary is that she is too cautious. Which is understandable given how she has been treated for like 30 years by Republicans.

Warren used teeny weeny Julian Castro as her attack dog (politically incorrect: attack chihuahua). He trashed Beto in a debate - totally unfairly, Castro's a nasty little prick. Then he attacked Biden, screaming at him that he was senile. Castro was shown to be wrong in his attacks on both. He constantly leaked 'Warren congratulated me!' every time he attacked somebody. He paid for ads on Facebook promoting a Warren/Castro ticket.

Warren used Castro so she didn't have to openly flaunt what a total bitch she is.

by Anonymousreply 146May 7, 2021 2:57 AM

R146 The Castro brothers are two of the most slimiest, fakest, ineptly machiavellian, politicians I have ever seen. Being the mayor of San Antonio is a do-nothing job. How he became HUD sec and was in the Obama admin is a mystery. And then he low-blowed Biden in a debate, when they were all in the same admin a year prior is odd.

by Anonymousreply 147May 7, 2021 3:19 AM

Elizabeth Warren had lots of issues on her own. If you , however, discount the issue the US had/has with women as presidential candidates then I think you are naive. As much as I never trusted her, there is some truth in what she says.

I suspected that the way in was a female as vice-president. Thankfully it worked. But I think this past election was as much a referendum on getting rid of Trump as much as it was FOR anyone, so I'm not sure this was a sign the "female issue" is gone. ~ sigh ~

by Anonymousreply 148May 7, 2021 4:22 AM

R147 Castro was Obama's 3rd secretary of HUD and HUD has always been the affirmative action cabinet post. He was only in office for 2 years but spent his time doing favors for real estate developers and Wall St. He was always GOP lite till he decided to run for President. He figured his best chance at a Veep nom was pairing with a white woman - Warren. He leaked in 2016 that he was being vetted to be Hillary's Veep. Somebody on Hillary's team later denied he'd been in consideration. So he tailored his beliefs to suit Warren's agenda.

He got the job at HUD when Obama ran out of candidates and Castro went to Congress to support Obama's deportations and strict border controls. He's a total hypocrite. Some Bernie shills dug up video clips of Castro trashing immigrants back in 2012. Had he acquired more support, Bernie's people would have taken him down.

by Anonymousreply 149May 7, 2021 8:20 PM

I remember someone endlessly posting about Castro here back in 2015/16. They were obsessed with him.

by Anonymousreply 150May 7, 2021 8:24 PM

There have always been rumors in San Antonio that Julian is in the closet.

by Anonymousreply 151May 8, 2021 2:34 AM

R151 he definitely looks like he's always smelling galletas.

by Anonymousreply 152May 8, 2021 5:35 AM

I really don’t think a majority of gay men or straight men in the Democratic Party would allow a woman (or gay man) to be president. They would not go for it.

by Anonymousreply 153May 8, 2021 12:30 PM

I initially liked Warren because she was an economic populist who could present liberal economic policies in ways that could appeal to average Americans. But ultimately she chose the path of appealing to out of touch liberal activists and it cost her. Shame The Warren who played "9 to 5" at rallies, the one who had Trump supporters in WV nodding along to her speeches, that Warren could've won. But the Warren calling for decriminalizing border crossings and using "Latinx" to describe Latinos was doomed

by Anonymousreply 154July 27, 2021 5:54 AM

I think 2020 was her only chance. She probably would have beat Trump do to all his negatives but in any other year I think she'd lose to whoever the Rebug was.

There is just something sour and scolding about her. She doesn't excite and inspire people. She's more like the algebra teacher who used to yell at you for not doing your homework.

by Anonymousreply 155July 27, 2021 5:58 AM

I stopped liking her when she said she’d pick a trans person to be Secretary of Education. Her pandering was off the charts.

by Anonymousreply 156July 27, 2021 6:03 AM
I think 2020 was her only chance. She probably would have beat Trump do to all his negatives

I doubt it, especially considering how close the election turned out to be. Trump would have mocked and belittled Warren non-stop, and even though it would have been ugly and sexist and unfair, some of it would have stuck. In the end, I think Biden was the right choice and the only one who could beat Trump. (And if it hadn't been for Trump's complete mismanagement of COVID, even Biden probably would have lost.)

by Anonymousreply 157July 27, 2021 9:39 AM

Warren was a Republican till she was 50. She supported Reagan all those years he was letting people die of AIDS. She only converted to liberal politics when she moved from Texas to Boston where being GOP would have hurt her career.

She's such a phony. All those video clips of her claiming to be a Cherokee because her PePaw had high cheekbones. When she hid literally behind Ayanna Pressley when several black women heckled her at a rally. Warren bragged about having been a special ed teacher. At one rally, she took questions from the audience. One man who had learning disabilities asked her a question that didn't make a lot of sense. Instead of trying to interact with him and try to understand his question, she ignored him, turned around and asked if anybody else had a question. She's one icy-cold, narcissistic bitch.

by Anonymousreply 158July 27, 2021 3:41 PM

If only people like r158 was as critical of male candidates, America wouldn't be stuck with Trump in the first place. Why don't fuckheads like you just go away?

by Anonymousreply 159July 27, 2021 5:46 PM

R159 I'm every bit as critical of male candidates. And YOU can fuck off.

by Anonymousreply 160July 27, 2021 5:58 PM

Elizabeth Warren may be right, and as much as I like her, it was an absolute MUST that the Dems win in 2020. At the time, Elizabeth may have been too polarizing. The Dems couldn't take a chance. Trump had to be defeated.

by Anonymousreply 161July 28, 2021 2:58 AM

Warren came in THIRD in her home state primary. Even Democrats don't like her. She would have lost so badly to Trump and we couldn't afford it.
