Rashida Jones only has a career because of her father, Quincy Jones. She’s a spoiled brat from Bel-Air, a flat one-note actress and a phony, the nice girl act is such a show, easy to do for a Trustfund baby who never had a problem their entire life.
People with Careers They Don’t Deserve
|by Anonymous||reply 127||05/03/2021|
My, my, isn't someone a SOURPUSS!!!!
|by Anonymous||reply 1||05/02/2021|
Rashida Jones is a great straight woman--she showed so both on The Office and Parks & Recreation. I was surprised to find out her parents were famous.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||05/02/2021|
I like her. She's got moxie.
You are just a loser.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||05/02/2021|
Anya Taylor Jones. Rich, bland and unappealing brat. Terribly miscast in the chess show.
John Mayer. Only became famous because mid 2000s music was so bad that he had no competition. Ugly voice and terrible melodies.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||05/02/2021|
Can you imagine how tiny and shrivelled a soul must be to have a Tales of Two Cities list inside your head of everyone you think doesn't deserve success and good things?
|by Anonymous||reply 5||05/02/2021|
I love Rashida. Beautiful, talented.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||05/02/2021|
Being a great straight woman or straight man requires genuine comic talent: see George Burns, Jane Curtin, Margaret Dumont, Bob Newhart, Mary Tyler Moore.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||05/02/2021|
I guess to all the YASSSS KWEENs that now infest Datalounge she is “Stunning & Brave!”
|by Anonymous||reply 8||05/02/2021|
R7 exactly, a smug smirk is not enough. She’s a bore.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||05/02/2021|
I dont remember her from anywhere, I guess she has the career she deserves. John Mayer can play the guitar, he is pretty good at it and is generally well respected even by the rock and roll community for it. His songs and singing are blah, but he deserves whatever he has gotten.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||05/02/2021|
Jones obviously got her foot through the door thanks to her parents, but she's done solid work.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||05/02/2021|
My greatest objection to Rashida Jones is that she shut down Quincy's loose lips a couple of years ago. I doubt we'll ever get another tell all interview from him.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||05/02/2021|
She looks like Zoey Deschanel.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||05/02/2021|

Gay white liberal men know what's best for everyone, R20, so just accept that and do as you are fucking told and you will be happy.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||05/02/2021|
Can we blame gay white liberal men for Tyler Perry's oeuvre?
|by Anonymous||reply 22||05/02/2021|
|by Anonymous||reply 23||05/02/2021|
Hunter Biden. How many no show jobs did he get just because his name is Biden?
|by Anonymous||reply 24||05/02/2021|
Can we blame straight black men for the careers of Ryan Murphy, Rob Marshall, and Greg Berlanti?
|by Anonymous||reply 25||05/02/2021|

R32 ugh yes. Imagine the nice paycheck she’s getting.

I like her. I find John Mayer insufferable, but many Deadheads have accepted him as worthy of playing with the remaining members, which means something. I haven’t gone to see them since Jerry died.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||05/02/2021|
I agree with R4. John Mayer's guitar playing is good, but he should hire someone else to write songs for him. And he should hire someone else to sing those songs. Other than his guitar playing, his music is very dull. But, his ego won't let him do that because he wants to be the star.
Chelsea Clinton is a good choice. Not because of her role on her parents' foundation. But because some network (NBC?) hired her as a correspondent or something straight out of college, and I don't believe she studied journalism. Same with Hunter Biden. You can't really point to the Trumps, because they work for their dad. It will be interesting to see where new grad lawyer Tiffany lands.
Kelly Osborne. She has no talent, despite trying at showbiz for 20 years now. Her mommy got her all of her gigs, but her mommy's power in this town has just recently expired.
The Kardashians. Their lawyer dad supported one of the most notorious criminals of our lifetime. The one of them made a sex tape, and now suddenly the family's TV show was wildly successful. And they became hugely rich though they had no discernible talent.

Bruce Jenner in any field
|by Anonymous||reply 38||05/02/2021|
I think the worst cases of "undeserved careers" are nepotism kids: Lourdes, the Pinkett Smith kids, Chet Haze (though that's more notoriety), Jude Law's kids. Margot Robbie may not be your cup of tea, but she's a good actress & the current "it" girl. Celeb kids tend to be the people who receive extraordinary career breaks based on little or no merit
|by Anonymous||reply 39||05/02/2021|
R21, I guess self-hating gay conservatives like yourself are the ones who know better, huh? Are you busy masturbating to pictures of Ted Cruz?
|by Anonymous||reply 40||05/02/2021|
R40: You're the conservative one projecting your own self-hate onto others in order to push a hoax.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||05/02/2021|
Does Kelly Osborne still have a career?
|by Anonymous||reply 42||05/02/2021|
R37 thinks Ivanka and Jared were qualified to work at the White House. Hee!
You gave yourself away by mentioning Chelsea but not Meghan McCain, Jenna Bush Hager, etc
|by Anonymous||reply 43||05/02/2021|
R41, you conservatives are the one pushing a hoax. Still think Trump won the election?
|by Anonymous||reply 44||05/02/2021|
Chelsea's why the rest of those deadbeats were able to get those jobs they were similarly underqualified for in the first place.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||05/02/2021|
R44, you're the conservative one calling progressives "right-wing" and thinking we are too stupid to tell the difference. That's more projection which is the only weapon you have left in your feeble arsenal. Literally everything you accuse me of describes you and not me.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||05/02/2021|
I'm sure Chelsea Clinton is very qualified, she went to Standford University. But she is just too ugly for TV.

Now, she's a perfect example of this; she has no accomplishments of her own, so she has to throw out "my family/MY FATHER/our military heritage, etc." because on her own merits, she's got nothing. Add to that, she's got a sour piggy face & a rotten personality. Kellyanne is loathsome, but that woman has done shit (bad shit, mostly), but would actually have her own experience to draw upon in discussions & arguments. She might be a nightmare of a person, but she has actual accomplishments.
Miss Piggy McCain has none of that. Just Dear Dead Daddy
|by Anonymous||reply 53||05/02/2021|
Meghan McCain might be the winner. Didn't she land an internship on SNL during or shortly after college. She's the most humorless person on the planet, and didn't she major in something like Art History? That internship could have gone to someone who studied TV production or creative writing.

Will and Jada’s kids. Kristen Stewart - no range Cara Delevingne - dead eyed Shia LaBeouf - transformers to tortured toxic artist who keeps getting roles Sandra Bullock - she has an Oscar while Glenn Close none Mark Wahlberg - great ck model, but music and acting are thrash Marilyn Manson — he makes me glad that rock is dead, so that his kind can never rise again

All the Latina stars of today: JLo, Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello, Selma Hayek. If they weren't Latina, none of them would have a career today.

Kaia Gerber. She's downright ugly, but because of her parents she has a career.

The Smith children.

R53, Miss McCain for the win. Can't stand that broad.
|by Anonymous||reply 66||05/02/2021|
If the category were celebrities who were just dang lucky to have such successful careers because despite their not being that good looking and/or having minimal talent I nominate Keanu Reeves.
|by Anonymous||reply 67||05/02/2021|
|by Anonymous||reply 68||05/02/2021|
R67: Based on that criteria, I’d nominate heterosexual Bradley Cooper.

I agree that Rashida seems like a complete rich asshole. That movie she did with Andy Sam berg? Fuckin gag me. Self satisfied rich bitch.

|by Anonymous||reply 72||05/02/2021|
John Mayer's music stinks but to get to his level of playing requires tens of thousands of hours of practice, a level of work and determination that would be unheard of to scions of celebrities such as Lourdes, The Beckham kids, The Smith children, Demi Moore's daughters, or the Osbourne clan.
|by Anonymous||reply 73||05/02/2021|
Pete Davidson, Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, the Smith kids, The Kardashians, Jessica Simpson, Jessica Chastain, The Osbournes, Malia Obama, Donald Trump, ANY of the Trump, and all reality "stars." Reality TV was the worst thing to ever happen to TV.

R58 - as I say every time she's mentioned, I think Priyanka Chopra is stunningly beautiful.
|by Anonymous||reply 75||05/02/2021|
Agreed, R75, and it’s still funny when people imply there’s Deepak nepotism involved. That chick has been a self-promotion machine from day one.

|by Anonymous||reply 78||05/02/2021|
R75 why does every woman have to get a nose job?
|by Anonymous||reply 79||05/02/2021|
[quote] I think Priyanka Chopra is stunningly beautiful.
I don't think so at all. My alma mater had a ton of South Asian people. There were loads of South Asian girls there way more attractive than Chopra. And at least 95% of them didn't have any plastic surgery on their noses. And they didn't promote any skin bleaching products.
|by Anonymous||reply 80||05/02/2021|
I don’t find Priyanka gorgeous, nor talented. Also, she doesn’t look right next to Nick. Are they an actual couple?!
|by Anonymous||reply 81||05/02/2021|
R81, I agree, they don't make sense as a couple and it is probably a case of bearding or something along those lines
|by Anonymous||reply 82||05/02/2021|
I loved Rashida in Angie Tribeca. She has a Mary Tyler Moore vibe -- great "straight man" but can still pull off a funny line.
|by Anonymous||reply 83||05/02/2021|
R79 Everyone gets the same nose too! Tragic!
|by Anonymous||reply 84||05/02/2021|
R78 No, he was the Simon in Simon and Schuster. Book publishing. But yes, rich and powerful.
|by Anonymous||reply 85||05/02/2021|
R77 Especially when proclaiming how smart Chelsea Clinton is. I’m sure she got into ‘Standford’ on her own steam.
|by Anonymous||reply 86||05/02/2021|
At least Rashida is pretty.
|by Anonymous||reply 87||05/02/2021|
[quote][R77] Especially when proclaiming how smart Chelsea Clinton is. I’m sure she got into ‘Standford’ on her own steam.
While she obviously got into Stanford because of her parents, both of them are smart people (he was a Rhodes Scholar) - he got into Georgetown and Yale Law while she got into Wellesley and was on the editorial board of law review long before their names mattered.
It's not really that hard to imagine that she inherited some smarts from the both of them.
|by Anonymous||reply 88||05/02/2021|
R88 No I get it, and agree. But the point is, if not for her parents, Chelsea would have about as much of a chance as any other girl from a well-off, very well educated family.
|by Anonymous||reply 89||05/02/2021|

I like Jenna Bush on the Today show. I cannot stand Megan McCain.
|by Anonymous||reply 92||05/02/2021|
I still marvel at the fact that Jenna Bush has a career, knowing how loathed and despised her father was. Yes,kids, as much as Trump, just without Twitter.

If Selena hadn’t been assassinated, then nobody would know or care about Jennifer Lopez.
|by Anonymous||reply 95||05/02/2021|
Tori Amos and Barbara Streizand both deserve to be stripped of at least a hundred million dollars. They have some talent - but the collective consciousness went through some mass hysteria that they should become so successful? Tiny little flutey voices and singing all songs exactly the same way.
Both are obsessed with some personal sense of being abused and abuse their public in return. And both are incredibly disloyal to the people who help them along the way.
Tori at least admits she's an asshole. But she still thinks she's fucking Mozart. She's not as talented as Jewel to be honest. And Barbara's name is never mentioned among the great voices or actresses. Not in modern times. I don't get her at all. No one knows who Barbara or Tori are but a few thousand die hard fans. Streizand thought she ruled the world. But nobody likes how she murdered so much music or subjected people to such ugly films.
Tori and Barbara should form a support group for the undeserving and forgotten.

Well yeah, I did R101. Many times. It was the summer of 2000. I was 17 and I guess K was 35 or so? I fucked him many many nights off the rocks of Kew Beach in his ASS, deep in the water on whole summer and september. He was always clean inside and came looking for me at night. After a few weeks he got spooked so we started going to The Seahorse Motel, down the west end beach. Cheap place by the highway with a beautiful view. He had a pet name for my magic. I didn't understand it then, but I do better now.
He bought me some things, but took some things from me too.

R96 Add Stevie Nicks to the Tori Amos pile. Keeps writing the same two chords songs over and over to silly new age lyrics. She's been doing the same thing for 40 years. People are so up her ass they're high on cocaine.

R89 absolutely - and let’s face it she has never had the charisma or yes looks to be any kind of TV “personality.”
R92 I’m with you on that. Obviously JB would never have gotten anywhere near that job sans nepotism but I like her on it all the same, so I’m fine with it. McCain on the other hand...

|by Anonymous||reply 116||05/03/2021|
Wow, seven insults in your post, OP! Way to stack up those misogyny bombs right on top of each other! What would we do without you? I suppose someone else would have to start a thread on a female celebrity with absolutely no value as a human being.

That could also apply to Kendull Jenner, r108.
|by Anonymous||reply 118||05/03/2021|
Heterosexual white female privilege is the root cause of misogyny.
|by Anonymous||reply 119||05/03/2021|
OP, everything you say about Rashida Jones applies even more to Maya Rudolph.
|by Anonymous||reply 120||05/03/2021|
Nell Carter's sitcom raised the minimum standards of Blackness exponentially. You also have to be Gay, Jewish, AND a Republican, too.
|by Anonymous||reply 121||05/03/2021|
Rashida may or may not deserve the career she has, but her niceness is not an "act". People who know her have only good things to say.
|by Anonymous||reply 122||05/03/2021|
r122 Didn't Tavi Gevinson strongly imply that her husband Ezra Koenig raped her? I wonder what, if anything, will come of that.
When I was referring to Maya Rudolph, I meant the famous parents/little talent. She could be very nice for all I know and of course she's been through some shit with losing her mom young. She's still not funny, though.

R123 Here's the article. She says she was in a relationship where an older celebrity used his status to exploit her sexually, but she consented to it. I didn't feel bad for her. She was 18 and trader her dignity to be in a relationship with a celebrity. That was a choice.
|by Anonymous||reply 125||05/03/2021|
