Indrid Cold

I remember reading Mothman Prophecies and thinking Indrid Cold was the creepiest and most interesting part of the book. I’m listening to a multi part podcast on Indrid Cold right now. What are your thoughts on Indrid Cold and other strange encounters like this?

It's the approaching people in the middle of nowhere at night with a giant grin on his face that freaked me out the most.

Mysterious grinning men seem to be a regular feature of human mythologies going back aeons. It's curious.

There's a lot of weirdness in that book, it's kinda fascinating because it's got an "everything and the kitchen sink" feel to it. A lot of it was probably coincidental (like the man wearing the fright wig, chasing women in his car), and much of it just crazy people (Princess Moon Owl, for example), but it all comes across as very creepy.

I believe there some force in the universe responsible for all of these things that we can’t begin to comprehend. I like to think about it.

I thought the film was terrifying, and the film version of Indrid Cold one of the last people (or whatever) that I would want to meet, somewhere between the Texas Chainsaw family and whatever it was that lived among the weak and wounded in Session 9. Hell, I think the chick in the bathtub in Room 227 would be preferable.

The book veered between curious and ridiculous but was no less disturbing. I remember Princess Moon Owl, R1, and Mount MIsery. Urgh.

Oh, the Mount Misery section of the book was so creepy!

It's actually really interesting how little the mothman features in this book, I think it's discussed in two or three chapters early on? There is SO much weird stuff going on.

The 'Indrid Cold' sequences in 'The Mothman Prophecies' are truly terrifying to me.

Agree r5 he’s much friendlier in the book. In the movie he seems like a villain.
