Tasteful Friends: Can You Survive? Gloria Gaynor's NJ Home Is On The Market

At first I was afraid, I was petrified, but as I clicked through the McMansionness of the place sort of grew on me. 12 seat theater. Indoor pool.

My husband tells me that's a fairly exurban area of NJ, not an easy commute to NYC but near the suburban HQ of Verizon, AT&T and a bunch of pharma companies.

It was featured in the NYT--see link at R1

Looking at the first few pics I thought - built in the 80's. Checked the listing - yep, built 1988. And it shows

Its an uninspiring house in a so-so location

She has very basic art, but girl can still Hoover a carpet!

Apparently it’s not true that you can ‘Never Say Goodbye.’

Seems like it's 1h12 min commute with a train transfer in Newark. Meh - that's not awful.

I feel bad for her - she hasn't updated anything in all these years. She's 77, which is older than I thought. It looks like she still tours and does private shows?

I hope she has some coins left. Maybe she wants to move to a warmer climate or something - she is 77 after all.

LOVE IT!

Beats that shitty modern style any day of the week.

Though I would vary the rooms in different colors.

Otherwise, you can't beat it for that price.

The awful gray carpet with all the vacuum cleaner marks needs to be replaced, but other than that, I don't actually hate it. Not enough photos though.

The NYT article makes it sound like she finished it herself back in the 1990s when she bought it, r5. Also, she's had surgeries lately and can't go up the stairs as often, so she's building a new house that's more accessible. I agree though that it looks like she hasn't done any updates since the first original completion of the basement and other areas.

The first thing to do if you buy it would be to change that stupid lock.

Outdoor, slate-colored tile is so Jersey

R9 - or make them leave their key.

[Quote] she finished it herself back in the 1990s

It's her own special creation.
