States once viewed race like some view sex today—to be defined and enforced. They failed then, and they’ll fail now.
How Extreme Anti-Trans Laws Will Backfire for Conservatives

Even Judith Butler acknowledges sex ≠ gender

Fuck biology! Fuck it right in its chromosomes!

R1, no one cares what someone who supports Hamas and Hezbollah thinks.

I think you missed my point, r3, but okay

I am really tired of people comparing gender identity to racism. Being black and subject to Jim Crow laws is not the same thing as someone believing they’re the opposite sex.
[quote]This system, the infamous Jim Crow, collapsed in time, unable to bear the weight of so much variation and inconsistency.
Yes, inconsistent definitions of race is why segregation ended.
This article is ridiculous and the sad thing is that people who don’t know history (or don’t care about it) wont realize how this author reinterpreted history to suit their own needs.

This will only backfire if the reich actually enforces these laws, especially the ones about bathroom use.
No one is going to want to see the police literally police people's genitals to see if their biology matches their gender. It gives the police, who are already largely despised in society today, further power to abuse people with their position of authority. I can see many cases of rape and sexual assault being argued away as "genital checking." I can easily see how suburban White women, the swing group both parties are vying for in the midterms, reacting poorly to stories like this.
There are manly looking women who are not trans like Frances McDormand. There are feminine women who look like drag queens. Are women going to have to be in constant fear of sexual assault because of a paranoia filled environment the reich is creating here? I think this has a recipe for a big blowback if they take it too far...and knowing these fascist lawmakers, they will.

This is where we are today where we have people who defend this craziness—the left is just as kook as the right. If this is what people want, they can have it. Life will be even worse—especially for gays.

American people are too rich, too comfortable, they create insane problems for themselves. Problematize their bodies so they can have a conduit for their "anxiety". How many cancer survivors are trans? How many people with disabilities, bodies that have issues, are trans?

r8, as I wrote in another thread: no one -- not even your family or friends or lovers -- cares about the painful minutiae of your identity. Most people are FAR less interesting than they realize.
Also, this decadent self-absorption implies a lot of privilege that never seems to get checked. I doubt prisoners in a North Korean labor camp or Filipino "workers" trapped in Dubai wax poetic about their "identity."

It most certainly can when it is being pointed out that the conservatives are up to their old tricks.

Trans people sure do require a lot of attention.

R11, I've been trying to figure out why women, especially white snotty actress types, are so supportive of them - but that's probably the common thread. Their medical condition can only be treated with all the oxygen in every room.
As well as sharing extreme body dysmorphia.

How many yuan per post, OP?

I don’t understand your comment, R10, “it certainly can” what?
I hope you’re not saying that the author’s racism, re-writing history, completely ignoring the civil rights movement and saying segregation ended because of an inconsistent definition of the word race is okay.

The rightwingers want it, definitely. So do the "we need a war to weed out these Millennials" types like we have on this thread.
You underestimate how many people WANT the cruelty. They want little girls kicked off sports because they "look like a boy" even though they're not trans. They want the genital checks, just like they wanted them decades ago in gay bar raids.

r14, check the meaning of the phrase "up to old tricks" and notice the word conservatives.

Well, NC got smart after all that bathroom business a couple years ago. Both sides just shelved all trans legislation.

1. Trans & co can only gain sympathy by latching onto other groups and pretending their 'oppression' is the same in order to skirt challenges to their ideology. Any push back on their bullshit and it's immediately 'This is just like what straights did to gays', 'This is just like what misogynistic men do to women', 'This is just like what whites did to blacks'. This delusional bunch respects none of these groups (look at the shit they've said about gays, women, and blacks) and doesn't seem to understand that at the heart of each group's struggle was the fight to be seen as human beings deserving of basic human rights. Shaming same-sex attracted people into being sexually attracted to you is not a human right. Playing on the sports teams created to accommodate the opposite sex is not a human right. Being housed with the opposite sex in prison is not a human right. Being legally and socially considered the opposite sex is not a human right. A male bunking with females in a women's shelter is not a human right. Restricting speech to the point that misgendering is criminalized is not a human right. Getting cosmetic surgery at taxpayer expense or while underage is not a human right. Minors being given prescription drugs that will permanently stunt their growth is not a human right.
2. "States once viewed race like some view sex today—to be defined and enforced. " How soon can Rachel Dolezal have her governmental records change so she's officially recognized as a transracial black woman? When will Australian, Xiahn Nishi, be able to have his transracial status as an Asian man fully respected and not seen as a joke? Anything short of support and affirmation is you trying to 'define and enforce' racial boundaries.
3. As for genitalia checks. Most adults MTFs in the West don't pass so cops won't need to check their genitalia or examine their chromosomes to determine that the individual is a male and doesn't belong in the female facilities.
For sports, Ts are people are banking on people being ignorant and believing the school coach makes students drop trou and spread their legs in the school locker room -- they just need a note from the child's own doctor. A child who wants to play sports has to assent to a sports physical. The verification is to come not just from any physician, but from a licensed physician who is the child's own personal health care provider. The child’s private doctor checks a box on the form saying the patient is (actually, anatomically) male or female. That’s it. We are supposed to get whipped up into a frenzy over that. All kids get their genitals looked at as part of the standard "child wellness" exams/checkups that in the US are done annually as a matter of course and are often mandated by states, school districts, and schools. Documentation of every child's annual physical signed by a licensed HCP is usually required each & every year for the child to continue to be enrolled in school. Sex in children can also be determined by using xrays to determine tanner stage and simple cheek swabs.
What a lot of people don't know is that to be approved for puberty blockers, doctors have to do breast and genital exams on transgender/GNC kids. This is done to determine which stage of puberty the child is in before starting the blockers. It is by all accounts a more comprehensive exam. But this is acceptable for some reason....

Just for shits and giggles: This FTM took a photo of herself in the men's room and begged for confirmation that she's the "hottest f*g in the men’s restroom". Her use of a slur that we (gay men) have had hurled at us for centuries is totes okay though because despite NOT being a gay male or even identifying as one until six months ago, she's taken it upon herself as a "bisexual man" to bravely 'reclaim' the slur and tell people calling her out for her homophobia to "fuck off".
This is the kind of crap you want us to blindly support, OP. Like calling someone a "racist", calling someone a "rightwinger" or "conservative" because they aren't progressive enough on this issue doesn't have the sting you think it does.

The only comparison between transsexualism and race is when you’re comparing transsexuals/cross-dressers to transracial people like Dolezal.

No.
They want little girls to grow up to play sports with other girls and not with people who are male.
The hilarious thing is that this is just another iteration of men telling women what they can or cannot do; tale as old as time.
And many (non-trans) women are absolutely complicit -

Ask yourself why LGBT support has plummeted these past few years and what role gender ideology has played in it.

What’s the data on LGBT support plummeting, R25? And among which people? Wonderful if true.
