Who the fuck is that?

She's got a translator speaking in her ear via an earpiece.

She looks down/around/not at the host when he's talking, as if she's listening to someone else. Usually you look at the person taking to you but she's having to concentrate on whats coming out of her earpiece - so looking at him talk if probably distracting.

That's my theory.

R2 Duh. That actually makes sense, though she must understand some Russian. When she and Baryshnikov met, neither spoke the other’s language but they both spoke French.

Also, I love when the host brings out her pic with Milos Foreman from the 70s. “Perplexed” 😂.

The host is fucking hot.

Stephen Colbert was on that show a few years ago and he played the interview on his show. They had the translator's voice-over for Stephen's U.S. audience - which is probably what he heard in his earpiece.

For Jessica, the audience was only Russian so the interpreter only needed to be heard by her. I'm guessing they have non-Russian speakers on often and have their translator system down pat.

Translators work with writing. Interpreters work with speech. They're not interchangeable terms. Anyone speaking in her ear via an earpiece is an interpreter.
