Michelle had a creepy obsession with pregnancy. When a baby was born, she would take care of it for about 6 months, and then she'd hand it over to her daughters to raise. (The babies were raised via a buddy system. Each of the oldest four daughters was a "buddy". Then when a baby had outgrown its cuteness, it was assigned to one of the "buddies" to raise so that Michelle could begin working on producing the next baby.)

The 19th baby was born pre-mature and had some severe health issues that required months of hospitalization. Michelle then became pregnant with a 20th child but had a miscarriage. She was now in her mid-40s, and this should have been a sign that her internal baby-making equipment was finished. Instead, she and her husband actually went to a fertility specialist to try to crank out more babies, but it didn't work.

In their religion, a baby is a "blessing" from God. It's a signal that God approves of how you're living. So the woman with the most babies wins. She's God's favorite. Before they grifted enough money to buy that huge house they live in now, the family lived in a two- or three-bedroom home with 10+ kids. Some kids were warehoused in the living room, and oldest daughter had to sleep in the living room with them to take care of them (while mama Michelle was fucking for Jesus in the bedroom).

A&E and Bravo were like TLC in that they also started with high-minded cultural programs and ended up trash TV like the Honey Boo Boo and Real Houswives.
