I'm not surprised, he's always had that "any girl that doesn't sleep with me is a fucking slag" vibe. Big issue with a lot British black men.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 30, 2021 6:34 AM |
Harassment claims by 20 women certainly make it look bad.

I don't know who this guy is and I'm pretty plugged in entertainment-wise -- was he just a British thing? (I am American.)
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 30, 2021 2:28 PM |
R11 Pretty much, he's been in the industry a long time but never really made it big, always in a supporting role. He had a brief appearance near the beginning of Star Trek into Darkness, I think that's about as close as he got to American fame.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 30, 2021 3:36 PM |
I've never rated him as an actor, if he's also a terrible garbage person who is going to be cancelled there's no great loss as far as I'm concerned
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 30, 2021 4:14 PM |
I'm kinda not surprised- he often said things on Twitter that rubbed me up the wrong way, even though they weren't outwardly offensive. It's hard to explain, it felt like he was trying to seem progressive but it just ended up sounding creepy.
It really sucks, he's got a lot of talent. What a waste.

I have only seen him in Dr Who
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 30, 2021 9:15 PM |
It's weird, it always felt like we should know who he is, as if he's some major talent. In fairness he did receive a special BAFTA award, but I don't know why.

[quote] special BAFTA award
But what was "special" about him?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 30, 2021 9:29 PM |
R18 Because they needed to hit the diversity quota and the black actors weren't good enough for the real awards this year, so they picked the rapist black guy and yes they were aware of the allegations prior to giving him the quota award.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 30, 2021 9:44 PM |
[quote] yes they were aware of the allegations prior
So the British did a Horatio Nelson and turned a blind eye to this artist's peccadilloes; just like they did to handsy Kevin Spacey.
While the Americans fulminate with Self-Righteous Indignation.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 30, 2021 9:56 PM |
There's no way in hell twenty different women got together and conspired to make false allegations against him. According to the Guardian article, he's one of those creeps who behaves completely unprofessionally and then plays the victim when he gets called out.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 30, 2021 10:58 PM |
a year ago The Guardian were trying to cast Noel as the victim of racism.
Maybe the film company and actors didn’t support him because of how he behaved?

[quote]Mike Clarke, a former student at the LSDA, said that on 12 August 2012 Noel Clarke ran a dramatic workshop in which he encouraged students, mostly aged 18-20, to strip down to their underwear for a scene in which they were improvising “getting ready for bed”. All the students stripped to their underwear, with the exception of one female student who kept on her T-shirt, he said, adding that teachers at the school were “furious, which makes sense now”. A female classmate confirmed the incident, which she said made her feel uncomfortable and which she later regretted. “I felt so ashamed that I had been so naive and gullible,” she said. “And I’ve remembered it ever since.”
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 1, 2021 7:17 AM |
All the delusional trolls in the comments on the Daily Fail are defending him. Makes you realize just how many sickos think it’s ok to sexually harass people.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 1, 2021 7:17 AM |
R23 What a shock, black people say they don't want to be perceived as victims and yet all they do is whine, it's beyond pathetic at this point, especially when it's a sex pest.

[quote]I don't know who this guy is and I'm pretty plugged in entertainment-wise -- was he just a British thing? (I am American.)
Technically he would be known by most Americans as a cast member from the series Doctor Who when it actually did well and made a splash on BBC America.
He played Billie Piper's boyfriend Mickey who randomly appeared on the series for a few years. His character ended up "marrying" one of the Doctor's former companions, Martha played by Freema Agyeman (Sense8 and currently NBC's New Amsterdam) who actually became the surprise breakout star (that wasn't already one) of that chunk of the series.
As someone else said he plays supporting roles and even here he was a supporting role to the supporting roles played by other people.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 1, 2021 7:47 AM |
BAFTA acknowledged him because he'd written and directed a lot of popular films. 4321 was enjoyable.
He won the 2009 rising star award, voted by the public, beating Michaels Cera and Fassbender, Rebecca Hall and Toby Kebbell.
Black British actors have won 5 of the last 6 rising star awards.
Daniel Kaluuya won in 2016 over Florence Pugh, Josh O'Connor, Tessa Thompson and Timothée Chalamet. A good choice as it turned out.

He wanted some screen test, to see if the chemistry was right, which is normal. My friend turned up and it was Daniel, some producer who was clearly Daniel's friend and some other guy. The scene Daniel wanted to test involved kissing, my friend did it but he kept forcing his tongue in, she told him she wasn't comfortable with it, he did it again, and "jokingly" pinned her down when she wanted to leave, his friends were laughing. Eventually he let her go and she left.

Woke Tokenism is so deuded.
A decade ago British SJWs were showering an obese Iranian named Camila Batmanghelidjh with honorary degrees and millions of pounds in cash. She urinated it all away
A decade ago American SJWs thought they were making a difference in Africa by giving $30 million to Mr Kony. He went running nude in San Diego.
Seven years ago Britain thought they had liberated Libya by giving them an 'Arab Spring'. Two Libyan Army recruits showed their thanks by raping an innocent man at Bassingbourn Barracks in Cambridgeshire.

The Kids Company scandal was utterly shocking. Anyone with the most basic understanding of safeguarding or financial management would have been appalled by what was going on at the "charity". Batmanghelidjh was inexplicably exonerated in court and went on a long rant about how Brexit was part of the motivation behind those who plotted her downfall. Then all the anti Brexit loons came out and started heralding Batmanghelidjh as a victim.
The same people who rightly criticise the British government over its panic contracting for PPE are defending Batmanghelidjh giving wads of cash to teenagers to spend on trainers or to send 20somethings on holiday.

The woke shit is the same hysteria of past decades whether it be from satanic worship, repressed memories, or fainting spells. Everyone needs to be a victim for clout.

Except this time its causing actual damage, look what happened with those British girls, look what happened with that Norwegian politicians daughter who was raped and murdered a few years ago, look what happened on new years a few years ago with that mass sexual assault. Woke is a dangerous agenda pushed by those who have lived very sheltered lives, that have no idea what it is to deal with other cultures.

I see our resident racists are showing their hairy, unwashed asses in this thread.
Clarke being a creep has zero to do with his skin colour ffs.
Regarding creepy behaviour- my cousin did an acting class once where the guy tried to make him strip, and this was late 90s. In his case they were supposed to be acting out a shower scene. I bet that teacher has a lot of complaints against him.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | May 1, 2021 12:08 PM |
R39 Ah yes, the Kids Company, Alan Yentob played a big role within that company, the same Alan that only knew of 3 places in the world; London, Israel and the Calais Jungle. He never cared about British, white, working class children, just those that made him look good to his fellow champagne socialists.

People have known and laughed off Barrowman's antics for ages.
Remember, if you're sitting down in work and a man comes up behind you and whacks his penis on your shoulder, that's sexual assault in a hostile environment.
Unless it's John Barrowman in which case it's hilarious!
So many actors have just laughed it off, including David Tennant.

Oh, I've had acting teachers do things like this. I actually didn't bat an eyelash when I read about his class.
Thing is, I should have been upset about any of those kinds of things they put actors through. I was just so used to be treated like that at that point. Unless we're actually on stage, doing a showcase or I'm being paid, I'm not going into a closet to touch myself to get sexually charged to get ready to do a sexy scene.
Yes, I was asked to do that once by a WOMAN!

Because they could!
Seriously, Batmanghelidjh's attitude is the money was there to be spent. Better to give someone a few hundred quid to spend on drugs than have them mug an old lady for it.

I have mixed feelings about this brouhaha.
1. I have no idea who this person is. I have never seen them.
2. Actors and dancers HAVE to get physically intimate as part of their job. So that's why I'm sympathetic to Geoffrey Rush and Craig Idiot McLachlan.
3. I know the Woke Bafta Luvvies well. They are utterly hypocritical and fake. Stephen Fry and Dickie Attenborough make me heave.

Religion is like a penis. It's fine to have one and it's fine to be proud of it, but don't whip it out in public and swabs it around... and don't try to shove it down a child's throat.

Sexual predators and compulsive sex addicts KNOW the boundaries- and what they can and cannot get away with. They have age old techniques and have developed well practiced mechanics around what they do- so a sexual advance could easily misconstrued as "I'm just kidding" or "it's just acting". They choose targets well, groom their victims up to a certain degree beforehand, and have the money or the means to flip the script.' Many are narcissistic and sociopathic- traits that serve them well because others won't question their behavior. A few do great humanitarian, charity or other altruistic services as part o their cover, very much like a pedophile would, to blend in.
What a LOT of people like Weinstein, etc. didn't expect was that the tide itself would shift, that people shared their experiences openly despite being threatened, and that the latest generation is more educated and intolerant about putting up with bad behaviors to grab the brass ring or advance their career later.
