The mullet is definitely making a comeback amongst guys in their 20s; I think you will be seeing a lot more of them this summer. It’s about the right time for a revival based on the 25-30 year cycle of how things normally go in and out of fashion and then get revived. R17 / R19 - those are more of a fauxhawk - which was in style about 10 years after the mullet, and less mainstream than the mullet was, but similar. Guess they’re back too.

Mullets were first big from 85 - 91 or so — see Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon.
