I think the trans people of today who call them selves non-binary are just hedging and showing their extreme conformity to norms. Few trans people are non-binary though I have recently read a small handful of statements by post-op trans who several year after the operation decide to quit the chemicals and re-embrace their birth sex and combine it with their frankensex into something kind of non-binary.
