What a fucking waste of taxpayer money.

So does this mean you’re a Caitlyn fan, OP?

If a nozzle like Walker can survive a recall, Newsom can.
[quote]"Laws he endorsed favor foreign nationals, in our country illegally, over that of our own citizens. People in this state suffer the highest taxes in the nation, the highest homelessness rates, and the lowest quality of life as a result. He has imposed sanctuary state status and fails to enforce immigration laws. He unilaterally over-ruled the will of the people regarding the death penalty. He seeks to impose additional burdens on our state by the following; removing the protections of Proposition 13, rationing our water use, increasing taxes and restricting parental rights."
What a load.

This doesn't mean his political life is over, remember California Governor Grey Davis, Oh wait, I see what you mean.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 26, 2021 11:02 PM |
He is tremendously popular. He will survive the recall, and eventually run for President.

R7: You’re embarrassing yourself so you should stop typing.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 26, 2021 11:06 PM |
But R7 is right. Republicans haven't won a statewide election in more than 10 years. California's vaccination rates are in the top 10 and the state's been reopening. His polls are fine, close to 60 percent.
This is a GOP attempt to weaken a future presidential candidate, but it's not going to work--Caitlyn Jenner is a freak show opponent, let's get real.

Sadly, RECALL isn't part of the system in New York or Cuomo would've gone long ago

The right-wing whackos all want Newsom recalled. However, I live in San Diego, and I think Newsom has done a good job. California is an enormously complicated and complex state with huge issues and a staggeringly diversified population.
So, while the right-wingers want him recalled, most of the political analysts say this recall will fail. The state is overwhelmingly democratic. Newsom is fairly popular. And none of these Repugs who have announced have much of a following or are impressive or outstanding enough to overcome Newsom and his voters.
Of course, you never know what could happen when something so serious ends up on the ballot, but I hope Newsom remains as governor. He's not perfect, but he's doing fine...and by the time the election rolls around, California will be open--in fact it's mostly open now. However, the right-wing media is relentless in trying to remove Newsom.

I wish we could recall Biden and Harris.

[quote] So, while the right-wingers want him recalled,
They're going to fail as badly as Meg Whitman's gubernatorial campaign, and then John Cox's right afterwards. The poor CA GOP lives in a bubble where they are under the delusion that they still hold statewide power and that they are a viable political party here.

I don't want Newsom to be recalled, but when this goes on the ballot, Newsom is not really running. If I'm correct, the question will simply be asked--something to the effect: Do you want Gov Newsom recalled? If 50 percent plus one say "Yes," then it will be a runoff among those Repugs who have declared their candidacy.
I am cautiously optimistic that Newsom can survive, but it gets a bit scary thinking that all there is necessary is 50 percent plus one to remove him. It just has to be a majority of voters--more than 50 percent. It doesn't have to be two-thirds to recall him.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 26, 2021 11:56 PM |
R18 is correct. Yes, he can be recalled by just 50%.

Recall for what exactly? Who actually think the GOP turds could do a better job?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 27, 2021 12:08 AM |
There will be enough vites to recall him. Dems tend not to vote in special elections; Repugs do.

Republicunts are just trolling at this point. Their in-state numbers keep dwindling and dwindling. One of the greater pleasures has been witnessing the total, demoralizing collapse of the CA GOP from their past glory days of yore.

Republicans are pissed off that he was seen out dining in person during the lockdown. They're also really pissed about Trump losing so this is a chance for them to get back. Republicans are angry people.

[quote] Even if he doesn’t get recalled, his political career is all but done.
Wrong, OP. When this recall fails, Newsom will emerge from it in a stronger position because he will have withstood a ridiculous, ill-conceived GOP takedown attempt.
And make no mistake, this recall WILL fail. This is not California circa 2003, dealing with the aftermath of what we now know were GOP-subsidiary sponsored rolling electricity blackouts brought to us by now-disgraced and defunct Enron. This recall is also not happening in a relative silo like 2003; rather, it's taking place in a highly visible broader context. Overwhelmingly Democratic California voters are watching this recall effort play out alongside the GOP's efforts in other states to try to structurally swindle themselves into permanent power.
Republicans know they can only win by cheating, hoodwinking, and stirring up grievance. This recall is merely the California leg of their larger strategy.
