I never get a sense of her being able to have a genuine laugh at herself or playing warmth.

I never thought I'd feel sorry for Glenn Close but she seems to be living Norma, not playing her. I admit, I really like this show (which I know most people seem to think it is a clunker) and if it's going to be done (which is bizarre enough because I don't recall Norma Desmond as one of the Marvel Comics) give it to somebody who can sing a sung through.
