Dack Rambo on 'Dallas'

Heavens to Betsy (I'll "Mary!" myself) but I just saw Dack Rambo's 2nd scene on 'Dallas' and he was as flaming as a Hot Cheeto! (His first scene was with JR and he was slightly more butch.) Dack had just come off of 'Paper Dolls', which wasn't the most masculine show. It's interesting to binge watch 'Dallas' and see the quickly changing hairstyles the characters have. Dack's hair in in this 2nd scene is blown out to within an inch of its life, he's sashaying around in tighter than tight jeans, and wearing a tan leather jacket. To say he would've been hot to trot in 1985 is an understatement!

BTW, can't find a clip of flouncing around Jenilee Harrison as his long-lost sister in the aforementioned scene, but here he is with requisite fag hag Leta Powell Drake not long after he joined the show.

he was very handsome and sweet. It was hard to forgive him by going by the name "Dack," however.

by Anonymousreply 1April 25, 2021 2:28 PM

What cliche book did you dig up to come up will all those, OP?

by Anonymousreply 2April 25, 2021 2:33 PM

R1 Maybe, "Dack" was a nickname given to him by his parent? His twin brother Dirk's real name was Orman. The Rambo twins were both good looking.

The poor guy was mistreated.on Dallas once they found out about his lifestyle. Aids was just penetrating the media by that point. And everyone was scared to death that they could catch just by being around someone suspected of being gay or bi sexual.

It was quite evident when he was doing intimate scenes with Pricilla Presely and one other girl. I see that now and I cringe at how rejected he looks because of ignorance.

by Anonymousreply 4May 12, 2022 11:35 PM

He guest starred in a two-part episode of Charlie’s Angels in 1980. I found him to be cute n hot.

by Anonymousreply 5May 12, 2022 11:38 PM

He played Andros in a two-part episode of Wonder Woman in 1977. He was out of this world. He helped Lynda Carter battle the evil Skril, intergalactic space thieves.

Lifestyle? Are you posting from 1981?

by Anonymousreply 7May 12, 2022 11:44 PM

Did he have tertiary aids at that point? Imagine the poor girls who had to kiss that dying thing. Yuck.

by Anonymousreply 8May 12, 2022 11:48 PM

You’re disgusting, R8. FF

by Anonymousreply 9May 12, 2022 11:55 PM

R9 Dack died of the aids, you stupid cunt. He looked horrible at the end.

by Anonymousreply 10May 13, 2022 12:01 AM

It has been quite sometime since I’ve read such a vile and disgusting and evil post as yours r8. I sure hope this wasn’t from a gay man.

by Anonymousreply 11May 13, 2022 12:03 AM

The twins.

R11 When you fell out of your whore of a mother, that was the most vile thing, cunt.

by Anonymousreply 13May 13, 2022 12:05 AM

Dack was gorgeous.

And DL needs a complete over haul of its troll users!!!!

It makes no damn sense for any gay bashing hate to take place on a Gay Website!!

I look at DL from the past and not that long ago mind you and its a stark contrast compared to today.. I mean what the fuck happen to this pkace? 😓

So the only thing I can think of to quell this absolute nonsense is to have these kinds of posts censored for homophobic hate against the gay community. It shouldn’t be tolerated at all here.

Its unacceptable!!!! Something has to be done about this shit!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 14May 13, 2022 12:25 AM

In season 10 (when Patrick Duffy returned) they had Dack Rambo wear nothing but a speedo and lounge around the pool

by Anonymousreply 15May 13, 2022 12:30 AM

Unfortunately, this has been going on for a while, R14. “Bitchiness” which was what we promoted from the beginning, has been replaced by nastiness. They’re not the same thing.

by Anonymousreply 16May 13, 2022 12:33 AM

He still looked great during Dallas. Did people know about Dack then?

by Anonymousreply 17May 13, 2022 12:33 AM

He had a nice package. I recall drooling over those poolside scenes.

by Anonymousreply 18May 13, 2022 12:34 AM

R16 Ok, has there ever been an attempt to moderate this gay abusive hate? Like before a post is entered can it be censored somehow? I know reddit has been trying to do that

by Anonymousreply 19May 13, 2022 12:46 AM

Dack in that tight fitting jeans era.

It seems like Larry Hagman became J.R in real life. Or he was already like that and the J.R. character brought it out of him.

He treated Dack and Donna like shit.

by Anonymousreply 21May 13, 2022 1:01 AM

He also treated Timothy Patrick Murphy (Mickey Trotter) like shit because he was gay.

by Anonymousreply 22May 13, 2022 1:03 AM

Yazzzzzzzz. We all need to block the hysterical qween at R14.

by Anonymousreply 23May 13, 2022 1:16 AM

Don’t forget to catch his Love Boat episodes. They are streaming on Paramount+

by Anonymousreply 24May 13, 2022 2:12 AM

R23 Oh Fuck Off … You self loathing CUNT!!!! You don’t belong here you stupid BITCH!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 25May 13, 2022 3:48 AM

R25 Fuck off, Jabba. Stay pressed, hunty.

by Anonymousreply 26May 13, 2022 3:52 AM

Dack Rambo sounds like a porn actor name.

But Rambo is really his last name; first name was Norman.

He does seem like a lovely person in the interview at OP.

by Anonymousreply 27May 13, 2022 4:01 AM

He got saddled with the leaden Priscilla Presley after Bobby died and the show tried to replace Patrick with Dack. Priscillla had an uncanny knack for sucking the life out of any scene.

by Anonymousreply 28May 13, 2022 4:12 AM

That makes me sad, r22. The Mickey Trotter story was one the best, most genuinely affecting storylines on Dallas, and Timothy Patrick Murphy was adorable.

I thought she was such a dud as an actress on Dallas, and then I was surprised by how effective I found her in the broad comedy of the Naked Gun films. She made a good "straight woman" for that kind of movie.

The other obvious Duffy replacement was John Beck, who returned as presumed-dead Mark Graison and rekindled his affair with Pam.

I always thought Victoria Principal was right on the money with something she said in an interview a while after she left. She was asked if she ever regretted leaving Dallas, and she said she had been proud to be part of it for the first seven seasons (which would be through 1983-84), but after that, it had peaked and was just diminishing returns. That's how I felt too. The quality was declining even in the pre-dream season (the one with Donnie Reed as Miss Ellie), though the ratings weren't reflecting it yet. And the seasons after the dream season got progressively worse.

by Anonymousreply 30May 13, 2022 5:16 AM

^ "Donna" Reed.

by Anonymousreply 31May 13, 2022 5:19 AM

Dack Rambo sounds like a deep space 9 character.

by Anonymousreply 32May 13, 2022 5:30 AM

Dack Rambo, not one of the best actors I've seen

R26 Again a self hating miserable soul.. Sad really.

by Anonymousreply 34May 13, 2022 9:22 AM

Dack’s twin brother Dirk died unfortunately in 2001 in the 9/11 attacks.

What terrible luck for that family.

by Anonymousreply 35May 13, 2022 9:24 AM

R35 Dirk fell first, followed by Dack 29 minutes later.

by Anonymousreply 36May 14, 2022 12:28 AM

Who woulda thunk it? The Enquirer faked Dack's deathbed interview.

R35 Dirk Rambo died in a car accident in 1967 at age 25. I'm not sure where you get your information from.

by Anonymousreply 40July 23, 2024 12:18 AM

Does anyone remember him in the Gunsmoke spin-off “Dirty Sally” starring the fabulous Jeannette Nolan?

I loved that show.
