They had Trump's number from the beginning, too

I knew nothing.

The Scott Rudin revelations prove beyond a shadow of a doubt how fucking complicit celebrities are when it comes to protecting these assholes. Swimming with the Sharks was released over 25 years ago, and the nightmarish boss played by Kevin Spacey was modeled on Scott Rudin. Yet he was still abusing staffers as recently as last year.

As an aside, Kurt Andersen’s book Evil Geniuses is a must read. To the DLer who recommended it, THANK YOU.

I liked Spy magazine for calling out Donald Trump as trash back in the 80s, while almost everyone else in the New York media was licking his ass.

The crassest people in our culture were so crass in the 80s, the crassest decade in human history, that you could see it from space. So it’s hardly surprising they were lampooned so relentlessly by Spy (which singlehandedly got me through the decade).
But of course crass people are brash and egotistical enough to strive for power, and so they’re still around, their fecal odor lingering.

Yet everyone was praising Tom Cruise for yelling at some staffer on that movie set a few months ago.

Spy was hilarious about everything they kind of invented the internet. Wish I'd kept my copies but after 2 moves they just go heavier. Gave them to a gayling down the street

Didn’t Spy do that hidjus cover with Ivanna super closeup that caused her to get extensive facial plastic surgery?

I still have my old copies from '89 to '93, five moves later. I keep meaning to reread them.
Yes, R8. And the accompanying article was scathing.

"The short-fingered vulgarian."

They nailed Trump from day one by branding him the Trashy, mobbed-up, short-fingered Vulgarian that he always was. They knew it in 1988 which is why I loved Spy.

R6 In Cruise’s defense, wasn’t that due to a safety issue, re: COVID?

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
