Currently rewatching Desperate Housewives and Marcia Cross is fantastic. I've not seen her in anything else so I can't speak of her range in playing different characters, but what she does with the character of Bree over the 8 seasons is some of the best acting I've seen on television. From the repressed stepford housewife to the crazy alcoholic to the business woman. I think if Desperate Housewives had been released a few years later, she would've won lots of awards and have some long-term deal with Netflix and other opportunities.
Actors Who Should've Had Bigger Careers

She got plenty of award nominations for DH. She's a talented actress but she was lucky to win the role of Bree after Melrose Place. For a lot of actors lightening doesn't strike twice.

Dawson of Dawson’s 50 Load Weekend. He was robbed of an Oscar for his performance. Robbed, I tell you!

Sarah Polley, but I don't think she wanted it. Melora Walters.

Big dicked William Petersen of the original CSI. Plenty of sexiness and screen presence and gravitas even though he got quite chubby. But it was his own choice to work less, due to his health problems I think.

R3: Scorsese really wanted her for Gangs of New York. Cameron Diaz fucked Weinstein and he made Scorsese pick her over Polley.

R5, oh Polley would have been so much better in that part,, not that it would have been too difficult for most to suprass Diaz' performance.

I always felt Eva Longoria was the comic treasure on Desperate Housewives. I know she turned to producing, but I could see at least one or two more iconic roles in her future.
Another great comic actor was Amanda Bearse from Married With Children. She, too, have turned more to behind the scenes stuff in the past 15 or 20 years, but she was always really funny on that show.
Jan Hooks from SNL should have had a film career with at least as many movies as Kristen Wiig, Tina Fey, or Amy Pohler.

John Ritter (Hearts Afire & that 10 Simple Rules show were both beneath his talents)
George Takei (hard to believe he is mainly known for a sci fi show from over a half century ago)
Richard Grieco (he reminded me of Keanu Reeves' kid brother in his voice, looks & acting choices)
John Goodman (should've been known more than for the Roseanne show. At the very least, I could see hum playing the dad on The Goldbergs instead of The Connors rehash)

Nancy McKeon......She was up for the role of Monica on Friends but lost it to Courtney Cox. It came down to those two. Her whole life would have been different if she had gotten the part.

Polley quit Hollywood. Genuine socialist. Think she also has a few Oscar nominations for writing and direction. But yes, was/is a great actress.

NBC pushed for Brooke Shields to be Jaime Buckman on "Mad About You" but Helen Hunt won the producers over.

I could see John Ritter & John Goodman in a hit sit com similar to The Odd Couple.
They could have played off of each other's abilities really well.

Jason Ritter....Everything he does gets cancelled. He can act and has had starring and co-starring roles...He is some sort of Cancellation Jinx....

Tyler Ritter.....The (openly) gay Ritter....He was hilarious on The McCarthys....

Brittany Murphy. It’s a shame that her career was ruined when she married that Simon grifter. Her personal and professional life went down the toilet when he entered her life.

Debra Winger did have a big career in the 1980s that would have continued well into the second half of the 1990's and beyond if she wasn't such a cunt to so many people.

Tony Crane, who stated In the tv series The Big Easy, he was so handsome & quite a good actor.

Debra Winger was a very gifted actress, always making unusual creative choices. One of my favorite moments of hers is in Terms of Endeament when she's on the phone with her mother while in bed with her husband and as she's talking to her mother she is also popping a pimple on her husband's back. Gross in a way, but also inventive and true. She managed to make a couple of very commercially successful films, Terms, Urban Cowboy were all big hits. Too bad she is/was bonkers.

Jason Ritter did excellent work in the HBO movie The Tale where he played a child molester. A brave role for someone like him to play. I've always been drawn to his kind eyes. He seems like such a nice guy, so to have him play such a monster was a stroke of genius.
