I read years ago that the semi-closeted Malcolm Forbes left her an inheritance of $5,000,000 . This enabled her to buy the apartment featured in the Scorsese documentary.

I heard she's kept on Conde Nast's or Graydon Carter's payroll because it makes them look prestigious.

I'm watching Pretend it's a city. She was executive producer in that.

Off topic, but has Fran Lebowitz and Annie Leibovitz ever met? I literally thought they were the same person up until recently.

She always says she's bad with money and has made a lot of expensive mistakes, but I think it's part of her schtick.

She said that all she does is read, so I imagine her life is that she sits and reads and smokes and drinks Diet Coke all day long. And she probably gets review copies of books so her expenses are low.

She is best friends with Barry Diller who invested what money she made from her first two books. He also helped her with buying that apt.

As someone has written above, she has always been very popular on the University talk circuit. She has done it for, at least, 25 years. Her fee was significant 20 years ago already. I can only imagine how much she charges now.

Well I reckon her neighbors had a barn raising for her and she gets her vittles from going to dinner parties. Folks is quite neighborly up here in these parts. The rest of the time she relies on the kindness of strangers. By selling tickets I hear she's got more than Carter's got pills, living on high cotton down yonder in midtown, last I heard.

Fran makes a good living giving people rides in her beloved Checker Taxi. Yes, surprisingly, Fran knows how to drive a car.

Just saw this today, Fran appearing on this new show, you can see early on that she is thinking "I shouldn't have done this." You can see the frowny face she draws at the end of the interview. She's on for about 12 minutes.

I’ve seen her a few times at W Vill restaurants this year (I know not being able to go out to eat during the pandemic nearly killed her) and she needs help walking to her car. She probably has COPD from all the smoking.

She's 70 years old and still smokes heavily, COPD is probably present.

R35 The inveterate walker now needs help walking to her car? That's depressing. She was tooling around post quarantine. Maybe being cooped up so long during quarantine fucked with her ability. Maybe she decided to start drinking again.

She eats out, & I"m sure doesn't take the subway, so bitch ain't living cheap.. So, how does she manage? She wrote 2 books long ago, a few speaking gigs from time to time & I doubt she she gets $150,000/gig. She has boasted for years how she hates to work & does as little as possible. Barry Diller founder of Fox, helped her 'invest'. Wondered since he supposedly had some bad boy years if she had some shit on him. Same for Calvin. Who is such a great friend that pay someone's bills forever? Follow the money..follow the money.

Sometimes she is spot on with things she says, but that lingering smell of B.S. about the $$ really puts me off.
