I don't think Kirk would rethink his stance. I think an interviewer once asked Kirk what he would do if his child came out as gay. He didn't say he would be accepting.

But, if Cameron's son were to come out to her, hopefully she would likely think back to his childhood, and realize that he was always different from other boys. (Mothers are typically more hands-on and involved with their children than fathers are.) And once she knew it was there from the beginning, she'd have to recognize that it wasn't a choice.
