Lesbians On Daytime

Connie Ford, Ada on "Another World" for 25 years was out to friends and cast members, She left the role because of cancer that took her life at 69 in 1993. Have there been other lesbians on soaps?

I'm watching Connie Ford right now, chewing up the scenery in "Worse Than Murder" from the "Thriller" anthology. It airs in perpetuity on the American Classics channel. Connie plays a really despicable, scheming woman hellbent on getting her share of the family loot. I didn't know Constance was a lezzie, but then again, I don't know much about her. I only know her from the memes of her bitch slapping Sandra Dee.

Irene Dailey was first lesbian to win a Daytime Emmy for acting

by Anonymousreply 804/18/2021

R3 Deidre Hall Isn't gay. Wtf? And Brenda Benet was bi.

by Anonymousreply 904/21/2021

That one who played Amanda on AMC and then was on Married with Childen.

by Anonymousreply 1004/21/2021

Ada was gay? I had no idea!

by Anonymousreply 1104/21/2021

[quote]Irene Dailey was first lesbian to win a Daytime Emmy for acting.

That's not correct. Susan Flannery was the first.

Irene won her Emmy in 1979.

Susan Flannery won Best Actress Emmy in 1975.

Lezzzlie Charleson and Donna Mills.

Did Connie and Irene Daily ever bump pussies? Yum yum yum!

by Anonymousreply 2004/22/2021

Any info on Peggy McCay?

by Anonymousreply 2104/22/2021

[quote] Brenda Benet had a sad end to a short life. I remember as a child thinking she was very beautiful on Days.

Brenda's first husband Paul Petersen once (bitterly) described her as having a beautiful face and an ugly mind.

Jane Elliot is not a lesbian. She's friends with Deidre, who may well be, but Jane is strictly dickly.

If I had a nickel for every time I've had to correct someone on that here I could buy this site.

Marsha clark is a bull dyke.

by Anonymousreply 3004/22/2021

Lois Kibbee owns this thread.

by Anonymousreply 3104/22/2021

I know Michelle Forbes has had male partners, but she's definitely tasted Lady Ham before.

by Anonymousreply 3204/22/2021

I don't think Marsha Clark is a lesbian. I clearly remember a splashy story in Daytime TV circa 1981 profiling her romance with John Wesley Shipp. They referred to each other as soul mates, and there were a ton of pics of them embracing and looking very romantic with each other. I've heard gay rumors about him throughout the years, but I always thought back to that magazine story, and then discounted the rumors. I think Geraldine Court may have been gay.

by Anonymousreply 3304/22/2021

Yeah, JWS is a pussy hound. lololololololol

by Anonymousreply 3404/22/2021

I hope to God R33 is joking.

R30 is a faggot.

Could you stop with the "bull dyke" moniker, gentlemen? Thank you.

by Anonymousreply 3604/22/2021

Julianna McCarthy (Liz on Y&R) always pinged for me.

by Anonymousreply 3704/22/2021

Connie “get the fuck out of my light” Ford can best be described as a bulldyke.

by Anonymousreply 3804/22/2021

by Anonymousreply 4204/22/2021

GL in the early 80s must've been a munchfest. Geri Court, Marsha Clark. Mo Garrett, possibly Beulah Garrick and Ellen Dolan who pinged to high heaven. How did they have time to put a show together 5 days a week/52 weeks a year?

by Anonymousreply 4304/22/2021

Isn't Marcia Cross lez?

by Anonymousreply 4404/22/2021

^She has been married to a man for the past 15 years and was romantically linked to Larkin Malloy, so to answer your question, NO!

by Anonymousreply 4504/22/2021

Thanks for chiming in, Marcia at R45.

by Anonymousreply 4604/22/2021

Larkin Malloy was gay

by Anonymousreply 4704/22/2021

Oh god, so now LARKIN MALLOY is gay?!?! News to me.

by Anonymousreply 4804/22/2021

The late, great Rosalind Cash (Mary Mae Ward on GH).

by Anonymousreply 4904/22/2021

by Anonymousreply 5004/22/2021

Danny Thomas was the first one to win an Emmy.

by Anonymousreply 5104/22/2021

Mary Fickett pinged for me, maybe because she was a bit mannish. Anyone know if she was lez?

by Anonymousreply 5204/22/2021

I don't think Danny Thomas ever won a daytime Emmy. I think his daughter Marlo did for her kids show, but to best of my knowledge, she is not a lesbian.

by Anonymousreply 5304/22/2021

Another World had Connie Ford, Nancy Wickwire and Irene Dailey. I think Jacquie Courtney may have tasted lady ham. The gay men: Paul Stevens, David Oliver, Richard Bekins, Russell Todd, George Reinholt, Val DuFour are the ones who come to mind.

by Anonymousreply 5404/22/2021

Wasn't there rumors about Bree Williamson?

by Anonymousreply 5504/22/2021

I don't think Bekins or Oliver was gay. They never really pinged.

by Anonymousreply 5604/22/2021

Did anyone ever dive into Kathy Glass's Q-happy muff?

by Anonymousreply 5704/22/2021

Camryn Grimes claims to be ‘bi’. She’s a muff diver.

by Anonymousreply 5804/22/2021

Half of these aren't lesbians. Deidre Hall, Marsha Clark, Donna

by Anonymousreply 5904/23/2021

R15 Brenda Benet was bi, not gay.

by Anonymousreply 6004/23/2021

Donna Mills is 80 and never married. Has one adopted daughter.

None of that means she absolutely has to be gay, but it certainly isn't an unreasonable conclusion to draw.

by Anonymousreply 6104/23/2021

Iris Carrington always seemed like Barnabas (top) to the house keeper's Willie Loomis (bottom) to me.

by Anonymousreply 6204/23/2021

R61 Never married but has a boyfriend of twenty years. But hey, they never stepped in front of the altar, so she must be gay.

by Anonymousreply 6304/23/2021

What about Judith McConnell?

by Anonymousreply 6404/23/2021

Is he Donna's boyfriend like Stedman is Oprah's boyfriend, R63?

And why are you so defensive, anyway? If Donna is a lesbian, it's not a bad thing; it simply is.

by Anonymousreply 6504/23/2021

I can't wrap my head around Donna Mills being 80. If she is a lesbian, more power to her. She would be the classic lipstick lesbian. She also seemed to be Conboy's "hag" for many years.

by Anonymousreply 6604/23/2021

Conboy was a straight pussy hound!

by Anonymousreply 6704/23/2021

you can always see the lace on donna’s wigs

by Anonymousreply 6804/23/2021

What was amazing about Constance Ford is that she had incredible chemistry with the actors she worked with, particularly the young men who stayed on the show for a period of time like Matthew Crane and Tom Eplin. Her tears when Mac died seemed to be real. Irene Daily also had a really good raportte with Matthew Crane.

Dame Judith Anderson also seemed to flirt with the younger actors, winking at Dane Witherspoon and in one scene checking out the backside of A. Martinez. Lois Kibbee was very beloved by the younger audience, and she had a great spark when she did scenes with Charles Grant, Larkin Malloy, Mark Arnold and John LoPrieno.

Anyone who doubts that lesbians can be funny should watch these women in their soap roles. Lois gave great eye roll and even as the powerful Elizabeth Sanders could cut loose, especially when she was with TV granddaughter Marcia Cross. "The things we did in my day would curl your hair!", she told her. I loved an interview where she talked about her New York City apartment where she had monthly maintenance duty. "I wield a mean broom", she said with great irreverence.

The scene with Ada dancing around while mopping the floor listening to big band music is a classic. Liz Matthews would not have turned into a humorous busybody had the writers not noticed Irene Daily's comic side. Check out Connie in the movie "House of Women" where she beats up Jeanne Cooper. I guess there is a bit of a difference being a bit bohemian while working on the stage and with a variety of people than being in a non-arts profession. These women all had a bit of Tallulah Bankhead in them.

by Anonymousreply 6904/23/2021

At what point did Ada really become masculine in appearance , with the short hair and suit jackets? Was that after her last husband died?

It seemed that they were exploring an Ada/Vince romance at one point, but that ended when Vince was recast and Mary McKinnon showed up.

by Anonymousreply 7004/23/2021

Does anyone remember Connie Ford's girlfriend's name, or the name of the restaurant the girlfriend owned on the upper east side? My ex used to work there and I used to hang out at the bar.

Just wondering.

by Anonymousreply 7104/23/2021

Connie munched on alot of snatch in her young years. She also licked so many women’s titties. God bless Connie. She became a bitter, unhappy bitch yet she sure had the lezzy sex in her younger years.

by Anonymousreply 7204/23/2021

Ada's later wardrobe reminded me of Doris Roberts as Marie on "Everybody Loves Raymond".

by Anonymousreply 7304/23/2021

Dee Dee Halls has been a les bean longer than some of you cunts have even been around.

by Anonymousreply 7404/23/2021

R70 you have to remember that the late 80s and early 90s had all kinds of women wearing short hair and men's jackets. It was the style for a few years - sort of the reaction to the Dallas/Dynasty look and the floral Laura Ashley Republican Stepford Wife look of the early 80s.

So Ada wearing more masculine stuff at that point may have just been part of that. I'm sure Connie wanted no frills and likely they seldom spent bank on her wardrobe.

by Anonymousreply 7504/23/2021

What about Maeve McGuire?

LOL about Julianna McCarthy. She used to date....Les Moonves in the 70's, in a bit of cradle robbing.

by Anonymousreply 7604/23/2021

Frances Reid always pinged. So did the 3rd Laura on Days, Susan Oliver.

by Anonymousreply 7704/23/2021

For a while, Liz Matthews was involved in Nicole Love's fashion business. I remember cast warning Nicole about Liz, but for the short time that this story went on, Liz was actually quite nurturing and not the pesky busybody. Irene Daily continue to work in the theater after she was written out of the show. I saw her in "The Father", a revival of the Strindberg play, starring Frank Langella, no relation to the later Langella play that just became an Anthony Hopkins movie. Irene was highly acclaimed and deserved a Tony nomination. I know she also took over the role of the grandmother that Irene Worth originated in "Lost in Yonkers". She was the only actress from the original "Subject Was Roses" not to get to repeat her role in the film.

Both Connie and Irene played killers on "The Edge of Night" who slew their victim by stabbing. Irene, as Pamela Stewart, was going after Nicole (Maeve McGuire) but stabbed Stephanie Martin (Alice Hirson) instead. Irene and Maeve were reunited when Maeve came on "Another World" as Elena.

by Anonymousreply 7804/23/2021

R76 Wow, that's how Liz Foster got her groove back! He's 71 and she's 92 this year. She had that great white mane of hair, but her skin was deliciously smooth. They always put her in those dowdy house dresses, even when she came back in 1993, but in her 2006 return, she had a completely different style, much more relaxed, strange considering that Liz thought she was dying at that point and needed a major operation .

by Anonymousreply 7904/23/2021

I'e always wondered about Judith McConnell (Sophia Capwell on Santa Barbara).

by Anonymousreply 8004/23/2021

R80 Apparently, she is, and was good friends with Linda Gibboney, the original Gina, who is lesbian as well. Not sure that they were involved.

I know Maureen Garrett came out. Didn't Jill Larson hint that she was lesbian?

The great thing about these women is that they are wonderful people as well and take away a lot of the negative stereotypes that even gay men put on lesbians. I find that the lesbians who prefer to hang out with gay men do become more easy going and funny. I'll never forget two lesbians at an LA gay pride who carry the sign that said "Dykes who love show tunes". I think they ended up getting more hugs from gay men than women at that pride parade.

by Anonymousreply 8104/23/2021

Judith McConnell hasn’t found the right man yet. She is too busy focusing on her acting career.

by Anonymousreply 8204/23/2021

Very recent interview with Juliana McCarthy (this week!).

by Anonymousreply 8304/23/2021

They were all big huge lesbians! Huuuge!

by Anonymousreply 8404/23/2021

Anne Heche was on Another World. Although I am not sure she is still lesbian.

by Anonymousreply 8504/23/2021

I believe Jill Larson is lez. That's probably why she and James Mitchell got on like a house on fire. She is also still very close to MEK and Cady, both of whom ping to high heaven. Make of that what you will.

by Anonymousreply 8604/23/2021

I remember when Larkin Malloy was in bad shape after being hit by a cab while waiting to cross Park Avenue. When he died was living in Park Slope Brooklyn, teaching acting at his apartment.

by Anonymousreply 8704/23/2021

Larkin died on September 29, 2016 from complications of a heart attack he suffered on September 24, his 62nd birthday.

by Anonymousreply 8804/23/2021

[quote]She is also still very close to MEK and Cady, both of whom ping to high heaven.

Cady's still living on Dick Street.

by Anonymousreply 8904/23/2021

What's the story with Francesca James?

by Anonymousreply 9004/24/2021

Well, Francesca has never married and has tons of ‘lady’ friends. Do the math. She was bosom buddies with Jacqueline Babbin back in the day.

by Anonymousreply 9104/24/2021

Surely Anne Meacham belongs on this list.

by Anonymousreply 9204/24/2021

Despite her marriages, I always wondered about Dorothy Lyman.

by Anonymousreply 9304/24/2021

Ellen Dolan always pinged.

by Anonymousreply 9404/24/2021

Didn’t Beverlee say that Gretchen Oehler was a carpet muncher?

by Anonymousreply 9504/24/2021

Patricia Hodges, who played Maisie Watkins on AW, is a safe bet.

by Anonymousreply 9604/24/2021

r93 Yes, I've always assumed Lyman's two marriages were lavender ones. Neither Vicente Malle (Husband #2) or John Tillinger (Husband #1) are examples of terribly butch guys.

by Anonymousreply 9704/24/2021

Susan Lucci , Katherine Kelly Lang

by Anonymousreply 9804/24/2021

by Anonymousreply 9904/24/2021

Jess Walton. Huge carpet muncher and even bigger cunt.

by Anonymousreply 10004/24/2021

R65 Cause I hate people making shit up. By that logic you can write any name you want her, right? If she was lesbian that would be OK, sure. But she's obviously not.

by Anonymousreply 10104/25/2021

What do we know about DL fave Christine Jones?

by Anonymousreply 10204/26/2021

R102 Funny you mention Christine Jones. I just saw her in the movie "Stealing Home" as Jodie Foster's mother. It was right after she left "One Life to Live" in 1987. She never stayed on a daytime soap more than 2 years. Her best known role, as Janice Frame, didn't even last past a year and a half, and she was front burner on that show pretty much the entire time. On "Rituals", she started off as the heroine, but over the years run gradually got more scheming and eventually psychotic. It would be interesting to see what she could have done with Catsy Kirkland on "Ryan's Hope", as they could have extended the story but not have it as the front burner storyline. But from that story came the Charlotte Greer arch which was great. She doesn't ping to me though, but there are plenty of feminine women mentioned here who were/are lesbians.

by Anonymousreply 10304/26/2021

I loved her as Janice Frame. Was William Grey Espy of the homosex persuasion?

by Anonymousreply 10404/26/2021

R104 If he wasn't, he became an honorary one dating and marrying drag queen Felicia Gallant.

by Anonymousreply 10504/26/2021

Speaking of "Kirkland's Hope," I always got major lesbian vibes from Arianne Monker, who played Amanda Kirkland, from the moment I saw in her earlier role on ATWT. What do we know?

by Anonymousreply 10604/26/2021

Is Helen Gallagher an old lez? I think she married once but divorced in the late 1950’s and never married again. Maybe she realized that she liked the puss.

by Anonymousreply 10704/26/2021

How about Felicity LaFortune? No mention of a husband anywhere.

by Anonymousreply 10804/26/2021

R106 Not sure that she's a lesbian, but she certainly was no Kimberly Brady.

by Anonymousreply 10904/26/2021

One thing's for certain, Louise Shaffer is not, very much in love with her late husband, Roger Crews. She was very honest in talking about her marriage on social media after he died. Pictures of them together showed them truly happy together. He was very handsome as well. I wish she was discussed more for her work. Even though she may not have been the ideal Stephanie on "Search", she acted just fine. As Rae though, she brought necessary life to Riverside outside of Ryan's Bar. I loved her short-term role as Goldie Kane on AMC with her wild hair and silk robes and Charles Keating. She should have come back later on to be part of the Richard Fields or Vanessa Bennett storyline. She was writing for AMC at the time.

by Anonymousreply 11004/26/2021

R110 This is not a Who’s Not a lesbian thread. Who the F asked about Louise Shaffer? No one.

by Anonymousreply 11104/26/2021

Sarah Felder, the original Siobhan, practically screamed bra-burning dyke with a NOW membership card who marched for the ERA. I can see why the network wanted her replaced.

by Anonymousreply 11204/26/2021

Calm down, r111. This a light, fun thread, not a Tolstoy novel.

by Anonymousreply 11304/26/2021

Are we 100% certain Connie Ford was lesbian? Yes, she was kind of butch and could be foul-mouthed, abrasive, and blunt, but so are plenty of straight women. Straight women are not all demure wallflowers.

by Anonymousreply 11404/26/2021

I’m willing to bet that Connie and her onscreen grandson Richard Bekins hit the NYC party scene together. Connie looking for cock and Richard looking for pussy. Oh yeah.

by Anonymousreply 11504/26/2021

Is Susan Keith a scissor sister? When she first joined AW, she shared a ton of scenes with Irene Dailey, who looked like she wanted to devour her. I think I caught Irene salivating in a few of their scenes. She and Keith seemed to play up the lezzie subtext, so always wondered about Keith. She gave off a vibe on Loving too.

by Anonymousreply 11604/26/2021

R 114 Val Dufour was a friend for twenty years until he died. He told me Connie made no secret of it, but fan magazine editors kept it quiet. He didn't mention any other gay women on "Another World."

by Anonymousreply 11704/26/2021

So, Dailey, Ohler, and Patricia Hodges (Maisie) were strictly dickly?

by Anonymousreply 11804/26/2021

What about Gillian Spencer. She gave me a late in life lesbian vibe.

by Anonymousreply 11904/26/2021

OMG that would be so funny if Gillian Spencer were gay. That would mean that they thrust Taylor Miller as Nina onto the show to share screen time primarily with all gay/bisexual actors...Spencer, James Mitchell, Elizabeth Lawrence, Dack Rambo, Linda Gibboney, Alan Dysart, and Peter Bergman. I know Bergman has been married forever, but you cannot convince me he hasn't dabbled.

by Anonymousreply 12004/26/2021

So Susan Sullivan is straight, R117? I always wondered.

by Anonymousreply 12104/26/2021

Yes, Susan is straight. She had a torrid romance with Joel Crothers.

by Anonymousreply 12204/26/2021

Vee would not allow the magazines to print these stories. He’s in the biz, you know.

by Anonymousreply 12304/26/2021

What about the late Geraldine Court from The Doctors and Guiding Light. What do we know? No mention of a spouse anywhere.

by Anonymousreply 12404/26/2021

Geraldine’s obit mentioned her longtime partner, Valerie.

by Anonymousreply 12504/26/2021

Norma Connolly, Ruby on GH, seemed like a truck driving lez, but it seems that she was married to the same guy for more than 30 years. Not that that means anything.

by Anonymousreply 12604/27/2021

Clementine Ford for awhile.

by Anonymousreply 12704/27/2021

by Anonymousreply 12804/27/2021

It's funny how some of the P&G grand dames were actually grand dykes...Kibbee, Connie Ford, Irene Dailey

Suzi Rogers is a lez, no?

by Anonymousreply 13804/28/2021

Suzanne Rogers was married once (and for a short time) to Sam Groom, who played the first Russ Matthews on Another World. She's very Catholic, per Ken Corday.

by Anonymousreply 13904/28/2021

What about Sasha Calle? She gives off a total lezzy vibe.

by Anonymousreply 14004/28/2021

I don't think she's lez. She had amazing sexual chemistry with the straight Michael Mealor.

by Anonymousreply 14104/28/2021

by Anonymousreply 14204/28/2021

by Anonymousreply 14404/28/2021

What about Liz Hendrickson? She seemed to be the go-to beard for several bi/closeted actors. She had amazing chemistry with Eden Riegel on AMC, more than she had with any male acting partner.

Gotta love it! We get another lesbian couple in daytime and there really aren’t any gay males to speak of anymore. Its because the execs and writers don’t care what gay males think of the soaps. They are not the target audience. Females are the target audience. Ha ha ha ha ha

by Anonymousreply 15804/30/2021

Wasn't there stories years ago about Kimberlin Brown (Sheila Carter) and her husband swingers?....Rumor was a four way went bad with Hunter Tylo and her husband and that started their feud?...It created problems on Bold Beautiful and stories of the actresses getting bodyguards....Hunter seemed like the pissed off one. The story is Hunter threw a fit when she found out Sheila was going to murder Taylor and went off on the set while they were taping scenes!! Sheila did murder taylor but she came back from the dead years later.

Wasn't AMC EP Jackie Babbin a big lez?

by Anonymousreply 16505/01/2021

She seemed to be r165. I remember that Soap Opera Weekly did a feature on soap star’s pets, and they featured Elizabeth Savage (who briefly played Gwyneth on Loving and was very campy-she would have been perfect as Sally Spectra’s daughter on B&B).

Elizabeth and Jackie were featured with their cats. The only thing missing in the picture was a vagina cape and a vegan nut loaf.

by Anonymousreply 16605/01/2021

What happened to Elizabeth Savage?

by Anonymousreply 16705/01/2021

Did Jackie Babbin cast Amanda Bearse because she was a fellow lesbyterian? Remember Marcy Walker as early Liza with that super-butch haircut?

by Anonymousreply 16805/01/2021

We know she wasn't lesbo, although she played one, but Olympia Dukakis on Search For Tomorrow was very butch.

by Anonymousreply 16905/01/2021

Linda Gibboney was picked up by Search right after she was let go from AMC. It's been concluded that she's a lesbian, correct?

by Anonymousreply 17005/01/2021

R170 I met her through several gay friends whom she hangs out with, and yes, she is a lesbian. She looked exactly the same when I met her 20 years ago as she did those soaps. I don't think she ever aged. And yes, she still look like she could be Julia Barr's sister. I don't think she had a girlfriend when I met her, but she was very content simply palling around with her group of gay male friends. Probably one of the nicest lipstick lesbians I've ever met.

by Anonymousreply 17105/01/2021

The one who plays Adrienne on Days.

by Anonymousreply 17205/01/2021

Lois Kibbee got snapped up by OLTL and played Matriarch Elizabeth Sanders for about 2 years...The actor who played her grandson Jaime died of AIDS. His name was Mark Philpot. ....Video Link was her last appearance where she said she was dying...

by Anonymousreply 17505/02/2021

Emily McLaughlin used to 'date' Dick Sargent.

by Anonymousreply 17605/02/2021

Emily was straight. She was married to the impossibly handsome Jeffrey Hunter

by Anonymousreply 17705/02/2021

Brenda was married to Bill Bixby...

by Anonymousreply 17805/02/2021

Brenda swung both ways. She had a well publicized sexual relationship with her female fan club president.

by Anonymousreply 18105/02/2021

Brenda Bennetts also had a relationship with Tammy Bruce (who I believe may have been underaged at the time).

by Anonymousreply 18205/02/2021

What about Jo Henderson (AMC, SFT) and Mary Pat Gleason (GL, TX)? They pinged big time.

by Anonymousreply 18305/02/2021

Peg Murray of Love of Life?

by Anonymousreply 18405/02/2021

Murray's Wiki profile said she was never married, and that she subbed for Connie Ford on AW. I think it's pretty clear from the evidence.

by Anonymousreply 18505/02/2021

I would love to check out an episode of Peg Murry's sitcom: ME AND MRS. C, certainly it has lesbian vibes galore.

LA TIMES REVIEW: "Warming up to the characters is as pleasant as hugging a cactus. They’re a thoroughly disagreeable lot: a 62-year-old widow (Peg Murray) who makes fun of her grandchildren and schemes to get money from her son (Gary Bayer), a whining wimp whose wife (Ellen Regan) is a materialistic, two-faced meddler.

So she rents out a room in her home for $87 a month--and that’s supposed to solve her problems. Or it would, if only this young, sweet-looking college graduate she’s taken in (newcomer Misha McK) didn’t turn out to be--are you ready?--an ex-con. Seems she served time for armed robbery. Don’t ask how that came about; no answer is provided. All that matters, apparently, is that she’s cute."

Peg Murray surely ate out our Connie a time or two.

by Anonymousreply 18705/02/2021

Lillian Hayman never married. You do the math.

by Anonymousreply 18805/03/2021

I broke Lil’s Hymen.

by Anonymousreply 18905/03/2021

Kathleen Noone is another one that gives a late in life lesbian vibe. She got divorced in the 70s and never remarried , and is friends with Judith McConnell, who never married.

by Anonymousreply 19005/03/2021

Judith McConnell ate me out when she played Miranda Bishop.

by Anonymousreply 19105/03/2021

OMG the idea of a Judith McConnell/Kathleen Noone/Linda Gibboney three-way munchfest is too much. Where's my fainting couch?

by Anonymousreply 19205/03/2021

by Anonymousreply 19305/03/2021

There should be a documentary on this subject.

"Soapy sappho's".

After all, Suzanne Sugarbaker thought it was a detergent!

by Anonymousreply 19405/03/2021

I wonder if Peg Murray salivated over Susan Lucci or Kim Delaney?

by Anonymousreply 19505/03/2021

Holland Taylor was on AMC earlier than Peg, playing designer Jill Olinger who had a similar purpose as Olga, just no Nazi brother.

by Anonymousreply 19605/03/2021

Joel Crothers and Holland Taylor as husband and wife on Edge must've been something. I have a feeling that while Miles Cavanaugh was taking anonymous raw loads in Monticello Park after dark, Denise was eating our Winter Austin.

by Anonymousreply 19705/03/2021

Peg Murray filled in for Constance Ford as Ada for several weeks in the early '80s.

by Anonymousreply 19805/03/2021

What do we know about Brooke Bundy? She was married once in the mid-60s, but divorced her husband after four years. Never remarried. Very suspicious, if you ask me.

by Anonymousreply 19905/03/2021

Elaine Princi has been all over daytime. No husband. No children. She played Miranda on ATWT....Melissas evil mother Linda on DAYS---she owned a male strip club and Pete Jannings worked there...But most notably she played Dorian Lord from 1990-1992 when Robin Strasser walked. Elaine was prominent during the Mendorra Ambassador Lord part of Dorians life. Dorian also dated the 20 year old waiter Jason....OLTL wooed back Robin Strasser in 1993 and Elaine unceremoniously got the boot.

Our beloved Geraldine Court ate out Marsha Clark.

by Anonymousreply 20105/03/2021

Did Connie and Irene take turns eating out dear Geri when she was on AW as June Laverty?

by Anonymousreply 20205/04/2021

Elaine Princi got her best work as Dorian, but replacing Margaret Mason on Days of Our lives was a mistake. I guess they didn't ask Margaret back because she had heart issues and probably couldn't commit to a long-term contract. At the same time, she was making a brief return as Eve on The Young and the Restless, and when she came back in 1993, Margaret appeared sporadically for nearly a year, but never for more than a few weeks at a time except when they had her in the hospital just laying there in a coma. I recently found a 1976 episode of Margaret as Linda, and she was very subtle. With Elaine as Linda, it was obvious that they were writing her with the intention of making her one-dimensional and thus expendable.

by Anonymousreply 20305/04/2021

R202 I wish there was video of that!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 20405/04/2021

Billie Hayes - ex O’Reilly on GH just passed at 96. No mention of a husband or children. Was she a lezzie?

by Anonymousreply 20505/04/2021

So many beloved soap matriarchs -who so many eldergay wish were their own moms- were childless and/or lesbians. Interesting.

Tonya Lee Williams. I don't know anything about her personal life except that she roomed with Cindy Brady.

by Anonymousreply 20905/04/2021

How about Leslie Charleson? She has ALWAYS pinged for me. She and bff Donna Mills come off as classic lipstick lesbians, and they are both part of the Jane Elliot clique. Jane has always pinged off the charts too.

by Anonymousreply 21005/04/2021

Well she is nicknamed Lezzie Charleson.

by Anonymousreply 21105/04/2021

by Anonymousreply 21205/04/2021

Judith Barcroft has been married since the 60s to All My Children writer Wisner Washam. Their son Ian played Charlie Brent as a child.

by Anonymousreply 21305/04/2021

That means nothing, r213. You'll have to try harder than that!

by Anonymousreply 21405/04/2021

Are we sure Geri Court was a lesbian? I remember she and David O'Brien were heavily featured in the mags back in the day, and hinted at a romance. They traveled and dined out together a lot. Sounded like they were joined at the hip. Maybe she was bi.

by Anonymousreply 21605/04/2021

Leslie Charleson lived with David Birney for a few years, and they broke up before he got Bridget Loves Bernie, and another blonde in now Lezzie Meredith Baxter. Les and Donna Mills used to rent a house every summer at Fire Island, it was in all the daytime mags, and i never realized what that meant until much later. So what about David Birney, then?

by Anonymousreply 21705/04/2021

I believe that Paul Lynde referred to David Birney as his favorite lesbian.

by Anonymousreply 21805/04/2021

by Anonymousreply 229Last Saturday at 2:17 AM

R190, I agree about Noone. She pinged on AMC, but not as much as her leading men, Mark LaMura and Robert Gentry.

by Anonymousreply 230Last Saturday at 4:45 AM

Kathleen used to date Larry Keith, not that that means anything. Pretty sure Gentry is gay, but I think LaMura was straight. He was hot and heavy with costar Andrea Moar for a while. What about Elizabeth Lawrence and Eileen Herlie?

by Anonymousreply 231Last Saturday at 5:02 AM

Lez Lawrence for sure liked snatch.

I don't know anything about Sarah Felder's sexuality, but it is telling that she booked Ryan's Hope right out of acting school and never acted professionally again. I believe she is a professional dialect coach, but doesn't act.

I am guessing her experience on Ryan's Hope was not positive.

by Anonymousreply 236Last Saturday at 6:38 AM

R235 One would hope! Yum yum yum!

by Anonymousreply 237Last Saturday at 6:46 AM

Claire Labine constantly fought with the network over her, because they didn't think she was pretty enough. They didn't want Siobhan paired with Jack, despite her having a lot of chemistry with Michael Levin.

by Anonymousreply 238Last Saturday at 6:46 AM

[quote] Claire Labine constantly fought with the network over her, because they didn't think she was pretty enough. They didn't want Siobhan paired with Jack, despite her having a lot of chemistry with Michael Levin.

So what happened? If you know, that is. DId the network finally win the battle and had her replaced? Something must have happened beyond that though, because actors on soaps are fired and rehired by the same show or another one. At least they were, when there were more than 4 soaps on the air.

by Anonymousreply 239Last Saturday at 6:52 AM

On the now defunct IMDb forums, whenever someone would bring up Deidre Hall's lesbianism, the post would be deleted within a few days. Someone was veeeeery sensitive about this topic being discussed.

by Anonymousreply 240Last Saturday at 7:01 AM

Why would y'all think Dee Hall is a lesbian? She dated Quinn Redeker for a while. Lesbians don't date mens.

by Anonymousreply 241Last Saturday at 12:29 PM

Dee Dee also robbed the cradle when she dated Ricky Dean Anderson. She was at least 10 years older than him.

by Anonymousreply 242Last Saturday at 2:22 PM

So if Dee dated all these men, why do you assume she lesbianese?

by Anonymousreply 243Last Saturday at 2:24 PM

Deidre Hall wanted off-spring, just like a proper Floridian lady should. For YEARS she searched for the one who would make her pregnant. Nothing happened, And OH how she suffered. Then Dee found out SHE was infertile. The solution? Marry TV exec queen Steve Sohmer and have children via surrogate. Ten or so years later they divorce.

That Deidre Hall is a lesbian, R241/242, 243 has been talked about since she was Electra Woman and Dyna Girl in the 1970s.

by Anonymousreply 244Last Saturday at 5:13 PM
