Right now Anderson Cooper interviewing Prince Pavlos.
***The Official Prince Philip Funeral Thread***
by Anonymous | reply 607 | April 17, 2021 4:56 PM |
Here is BBC's live coverage. Anderson Cooper narrating this particular event is less than ideal.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | April 17, 2021 1:21 PM |
It's BBC on YouTube for me. Very soothing.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 17, 2021 1:21 PM |
Oh god, don't watch on CNN of all networks, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 17, 2021 1:21 PM |
Which channel will have the best coverage?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 17, 2021 1:21 PM |
I'm flipping between BBC and CBC. Both very good, R4.
CNN is awful for this sort of thing.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 17, 2021 1:22 PM |
BBC, r4, as I posted above, or Sky, who has Alistair Bruce on. Here's the Sky live link:
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 17, 2021 1:23 PM |
Best coverage by people who actually kinda know what they're on about.
Sky News and the Beeb on Youtube.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 17, 2021 1:23 PM |
I'm watching the BBC coverage...it's been good so far...the do a good job of noting the details.
The weather is perfect and everything looks beautiful. I find it hilarious the Duke meticulously planned his own funeral since the early 2000s. He actually designed his funeral "hearse," a modified Range Rover (that resembles a pick-up truck).
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 17, 2021 1:24 PM |
The first family Bentleys are leaving the arch, but the Queen comes last in the procession, I think, as a point of precedence.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 17, 2021 1:24 PM |
Tindall and his missus just arrived.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 17, 2021 1:26 PM |
Thanks OP!!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 17, 2021 1:26 PM |
They’re finally planting the ok’d geezer? About fucking time, didn’t he die in October?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 17, 2021 1:28 PM |
They must've modified protocol...nobody is bowing to the arrivees...Princess Beatrice's husband bowed to the archbishop for some reason.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 17, 2021 1:28 PM |
Another Country is such a beautiful hymn. Perfect.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 17, 2021 1:28 PM |
I like the Land Rover.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 17, 2021 1:29 PM |
Having heard that over and over, R8, I'm beginning to feel that that level of it seems obsessive, with his revisiting the plans repeatedly through the years. I'm trying to imagine the mindset that leads one to care so much about one's own funeral.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 17, 2021 1:29 PM |
I Vow to Thee My Country- what a fitting song
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 17, 2021 1:29 PM |
That's not the Archbishop, he's the Dean
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 17, 2021 1:29 PM |
The Land Rover is a great touch. Philip must have been fucking cool.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 17, 2021 1:29 PM |
R13 They are bowing. A nod of the head is a bow these days.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 17, 2021 1:30 PM |
PBS is showing it without any commentary if you’d rather have that. pbs.org
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 17, 2021 1:30 PM |
Here's the CBC link. Far better than CNN for any North Americans. Not quite BBC, but still very good.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 17, 2021 1:30 PM |
The Royal Family: His Royal Highness wouldn't have wanted a big fuss...he'd just want to get on with it.
Prince Philip: I'll accept no fewer than 5,000 people involved in my funeral, and here's the precise roles they'll play...
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 17, 2021 1:31 PM |
I like that he planned it for a long time. Shows he was staying down to earth all those years. "Dust to dust" mentality and all that.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 17, 2021 1:31 PM |
What a long life. What a blessing. Miss Lilibet, God smiles on you.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 17, 2021 1:31 PM |
Case in point is the Land Rover. It probably cost over£100,000, just to drive his body around on one day.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 17, 2021 1:32 PM |
It's actually part of the Jupiter suite from Holst's The planets adapted to I vow to thee my country.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 17, 2021 1:32 PM |
Oh Valiant Hearts.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 17, 2021 1:32 PM |
I love "Jerusalem."
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 17, 2021 1:33 PM |
r16, putting six or so stays on the back or a Land Rover does not cost 100,000 anything. It's the least expensive thing that has ever carried any royal, dead or alive.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 17, 2021 1:33 PM |
Price of old Land Rovers just took a big jump.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 17, 2021 1:34 PM |
Is it me? Or is the band playing horribly?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 17, 2021 1:34 PM |
Isn’t Sky Tv owned by Rupert Murderdoch?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | April 17, 2021 1:34 PM |
Sounds pretty good to me. But I have good speakers.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 17, 2021 1:35 PM |
I Vow to Thee My Country was a favourite of Diana's, played at both her funeral and her wedding. I wonder if Philip selected it as a nod to her sons?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 17, 2021 1:35 PM |
Today I learned he and The Queen knew each other for 80+ years...who could she possibly relate to on this earth more than him? It's sad to say, but she'll likely die of a broken heart. I suspect there will be a gradual/soft transition to Charles as monarch in the coming weeks so she's doesn't have to endure any undue stress.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 17, 2021 1:35 PM |
He loved his Land Rovers.
"No sermon, no preaching, no homily. He hated that sort of thing" - CBC commentator. lmao
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 17, 2021 1:36 PM |
BBC and Sky now appearing to be using the same camera, just FYI, so it doesn't matter which you watch until the commentary starts again at 3 pm
by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 17, 2021 1:36 PM |
BBC has superior coverage for sure. I only watched CNN for ten seconds. I don’t need play by play commentary. It was weird. Like I was watching a football game.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | April 17, 2021 1:36 PM |
Keeping your head bowed forward with a huge Bearskin on must be a bit challenging.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 17, 2021 1:37 PM |
R37, you underestimate how tough she is, how well surrounded she is, and how deep her faith is. She can be expected to see this only as an interval.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 17, 2021 1:38 PM |
R40 Of course this should be watch on BBC. This is its speciality
by Anonymous | reply 44 | April 17, 2021 1:38 PM |
CNN is constantly breaking to commercial, plus, though I love Anderson, he's very annoying as a commentator for this sort of thing.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | April 17, 2021 1:38 PM |
R34 Democracy Murderdoch
by Anonymous | reply 46 | April 17, 2021 1:38 PM |
I think Philip would have liked this pared-down version, as he's known to have wanted no fuss at his funeral.
I have to leave for a couple of hours (figures), but I'm taping both the BBC World News and CNN coverage. I'll probably only watch BBC as they have less gab.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | April 17, 2021 1:38 PM |
R37, I disagree. She's tough and being Queen is a life long duty. She'll serve until she dies.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | April 17, 2021 1:39 PM |
It is a purpose-built Land Rover.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | April 17, 2021 1:40 PM |
Agreed, r43. She is a deeply religious woman with a serious faith. It's one of the things that is rarely talked about. She prays several times a day, morning and night. She has her Chaplain living with her at Windsor. People with strong faith aren't as easily broken by deaths, no matter how devastating.

by Anonymous | reply 51 | April 17, 2021 1:41 PM |
It's a Land Rover Defender, just like all the other Defenders, except it has some extra bits of metal on it. It wasn't expensive to do.

by Anonymous | reply 61 | April 17, 2021 1:43 PM |
I hope they practiced securing the casket on the Range Rover...I'm nervous.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | April 17, 2021 1:43 PM |
How is the coffin secured to the LR?

I know Anne is tough as nails but yeah, R74.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | April 17, 2021 1:47 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 83 | April 17, 2021 1:47 PM |
I see a number of VPLs on those royals walking.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | April 17, 2021 1:47 PM |
Leave it to Anne to wear sensible shoes.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | April 17, 2021 1:47 PM |
You can see that the family didn't practice their walk together. Harry's completely out of step way off to the right and some guy behind him is way off to the left
by Anonymous | reply 86 | April 17, 2021 1:48 PM |
Andrew really has his trousers hiked high.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | April 17, 2021 1:48 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 88 | April 17, 2021 1:48 PM |
Lady Susan, R88.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | April 17, 2021 1:48 PM |
Anne looks sad yet elegant
by Anonymous | reply 90 | April 17, 2021 1:49 PM |
This music reminds me of a funeral in the Godfather.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | April 17, 2021 1:49 PM |
AWOL Queen?
by Anonymous | reply 92 | April 17, 2021 1:49 PM |
So there is no way in hell then that Lady Susan was a mistress then. Good to have that settled once and for all.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | April 17, 2021 1:49 PM |
Peter Phillips is an absolute stud...hard to believe he was written off as being nerdy as opposed to William and Harry.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | April 17, 2021 1:50 PM |
Edward, dressing to the left.

Not to go all DL but did I just catch some major - and to be frank, unexpected, VPL on Prince Edward, of all people?
by Anonymous | reply 99 | April 17, 2021 1:51 PM |
Hearing the bell as they march gives me chills. I don’t why, exactly. Very somber.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | April 17, 2021 1:51 PM |

R99 what's VPL?
by Anonymous | reply 104 | April 17, 2021 1:51 PM |
This is an easy song to walk to, yet Harry and Wills are all out of step.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | April 17, 2021 1:51 PM |
Prince Edward is showing VPL. He hangs to the left.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | April 17, 2021 1:52 PM |
Is the bell half-muffled? Or full-muffled?
by Anonymous | reply 107 | April 17, 2021 1:52 PM |
The sun is a little incongruous. I prefer a bit of gloom at a funeral.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | April 17, 2021 1:52 PM |
Edward's dick is visible...it'a hanging to the left...no doubt about it.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | April 17, 2021 1:52 PM |
R101 Silent on BBC. They know people want to watch and listen to this with their voices in wrong places.
by Anonymous | reply 110 | April 17, 2021 1:52 PM |
Charles looks lost and bereft. Peter looks like he's walking to the pub with William. Unfortunate camera angle going around that first curve.

by Anonymous | reply 113 | April 17, 2021 1:53 PM |
Queen entering the chapel with the wives

Prince William, dressing to the left. Nub. Ok I'll stop now.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | April 17, 2021 1:53 PM |
Albert too. A left hanger
by Anonymous | reply 116 | April 17, 2021 1:53 PM |
How ridiculous! Why is this preempting morning news! And why are they talking about Prince Harry when the most striking image is fat, lying, sexual predator Prince Andrew breathing the free air instead of rottng in prison. A depraved family.

How nice of them to honor America and play "My Country Tis of Thee"
by Anonymous | reply 125 | April 17, 2021 1:55 PM |
I was watching on ABC, but switched over to BBC.
So much more respectful. American anchors just can't shut up, they have the need to talk non stop through everything. It's like DL on television.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | April 17, 2021 1:55 PM |
That’s a SILLY WALK!
by Anonymous | reply 127 | April 17, 2021 1:55 PM |
Harry's gait is already different from all the other family/military. He's slouching, swinging his arms and moving his torso much more than anyone else.
by Anonymous | reply 128 | April 17, 2021 1:55 PM |
You mean Harry, R121?
by Anonymous | reply 129 | April 17, 2021 1:56 PM |
I just realized: The Range Rover says "Defender" across the front. Philip was considered a defender of the realm.
by Anonymous | reply 130 | April 17, 2021 1:56 PM |
The carrying of the coffin always makes me anxious!
by Anonymous | reply 131 | April 17, 2021 1:56 PM |
It's a Land Rover 'Defender', r130. The one the military used. You can buy one that says the same thing.

by Anonymous | reply 140 | April 17, 2021 1:58 PM |
The coffin carriers are fine until they get onto the slick stone inside the church, because they have metal studs in their shoes. This was apparently a huge problem during Diana's funeral and one nearly slipped.

by Anonymous | reply 143 | April 17, 2021 1:59 PM |
That is his CA style R128. Shame how he treated Philip in his last weeks. Not choosing to visit him to say goodbye while having boasted of having a "jet on standbye" really showed his true character.
by Anonymous | reply 144 | April 17, 2021 1:59 PM |

R242, the choir at St St George's chapel is a male voice choir, and they are wearing the normal robes of the choir. The female singer has been brought in to sing the soprano part, probably because a single boy chorister wouldn't have the volume to match the others, and they were limited to four singers.
by Anonymous | reply 267 | April 17, 2021 2:23 PM |
The men are lay clerks at the Chapel, but don't get carried away. "A lay clerk, also known as a lay vicar, is a term used in the United Kingdom to describe a male singer who sings in a cathedral choir or a choir belonging to a college of one of the large traditional universities. "
I don't know who the soprano is. I thought se might be a professional singer but they usual acknowledge them.

Quote]Meghan's hand-written card and carefully selected wreath
The card on the wreath left by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in St George’s Chapel was handwritten by Meghan, who is watching the funeral on television from the couple’s home in California.
Meghan was advised against making the flight, as she is heavily pregnant with her and Harry’s second child.
Meghan and Harry personally chose the locally sourced flowers for their tribute – including Acanthus mollis (Bear’s breeches), the national flower of Greece, to represent Philip’s heritage, and Eryngium (sea holly), to represent the Royal Marines.
The wreath also features campanula for gratitude and everlasting love, rosemary to signify remembrance, lavender for devotion, alongside roses as a nod to June – Philip’s birth month.

His life before the Navy was tortured, his life in the Navy was very tough and full of WW2 action, and his life after marriage was full of courtiers mocking him for being German and shunting him to the side until he carved a position out for himself. After marriage he slept in a nice bed, and wore nice clothes, but he was not "coddled from cradle to grave". Quite the opposite.

Gracious Catherine breaking the ice.
by Anonymous | reply 502 | April 17, 2021 2:59 PM |
R487, I thought her remark about his "slipping away" was a bit too generic to count as intimate. Maybe I missed other stuff that she might have said.
by Anonymous | reply 503 | April 17, 2021 2:59 PM |
The nosh at the collation back at the palace should be quite tasty.

[quote]With that mask and hat, Anne sort of looks like a Plague Doctor.
She got Meghan out the country, didn't she.
by Anonymous | reply 505 | April 17, 2021 3:00 PM |
Is Frogmore Cottage nearby?
by Anonymous | reply 506 | April 17, 2021 3:00 PM |
Wrong, R488. Kate eventually fell back to walk with Sophie, and William and Harry continued walking and talking. Harry made a motion like he was playing a bugle, and William looked toward him and engaged in conversation.
Regardless of how this whole drama has played out, anyone who takes joy in two brothers remaining estranged is a vile asshole. I hope they’re well on the road to reconciliation.
by Anonymous | reply 507 | April 17, 2021 3:00 PM |
r487 Sophie is very close to the Queen. So when she revealed that publicly she would have had the Queens blessing.
by Anonymous | reply 508 | April 17, 2021 3:00 PM |
Are you speaking from personal experience, r500 ?
by Anonymous | reply 509 | April 17, 2021 3:00 PM |
So did they watch the body go down into the vault? They all bowed as they left walking by the coffin so I'm presuming not?
So is it being lowered right now? With no one there?
by Anonymous | reply 510 | April 17, 2021 3:00 PM |
And it clocked in at just under an hour. Now it’s time to google the choir.
by Anonymous | reply 511 | April 17, 2021 3:00 PM |
R501, I’ll bet that was a firm instruction to all of them. Harry has to behave.
by Anonymous | reply 512 | April 17, 2021 3:01 PM |
I'm not surprised to see the the Cambridges and PH walking and talking together.
I told you bitches a few threads back that funerals have a way of allowing scores to settle.
William and Harry have probably been in the physical presence of each other since Harry arrived.
by Anonymous | reply 513 | April 17, 2021 3:01 PM |
He bowed, and it's "altar," r468.
by Anonymous | reply 514 | April 17, 2021 3:01 PM |
Is Harry leaving for the airport directly the ceremony is over?
by Anonymous | reply 515 | April 17, 2021 3:01 PM |
They showed the buglers while the coffin was being lowered, R510, right?
by Anonymous | reply 516 | April 17, 2021 3:01 PM |
The BBC said the royals "drive back home" as is the rule. They said the Queen said goodbye to her cousins. I don't think there is an after meeting of any size at all. (wake?)
by Anonymous | reply 517 | April 17, 2021 3:01 PM |
William and Kate are very gracious to chat to Harry. Nice of them.
by Anonymous | reply 518 | April 17, 2021 3:02 PM |
[quote] Philip was anything but coddled. His life before the Navy was tortured, his life in the Navy was very tough and full of WW2 action, and his life after marriage was full of courtiers mocking him for being German
Boo hoo, R467. For his time period - yes, he was coddled. 80 million people died in WW2. Other people became disabled or were orphaned. Much of Europe was burned to the ground. Many people lost everything. There were entire cities that were encircled and starved. Almost every family in Europe had men recruited or volunteering to fight in the war, it wasn't just Philip. He was in the Navy, which was dangerous but far more privileged than the Infantry fighting the bloodiest battles (which was on the ground).
So, yes, compared to most of his European contemporaries - he was coddled.
by Anonymous | reply 519 | April 17, 2021 3:02 PM |
Charles wiped away tears.
by Anonymous | reply 520 | April 17, 2021 3:02 PM |
Why Anderson Cooper?
by Anonymous | reply 521 | April 17, 2021 3:02 PM |
I corrected myself R514 if you would bother to read.
by Anonymous | reply 522 | April 17, 2021 3:02 PM |
R500 has never worn Manolo Blahnik's.
by Anonymous | reply 523 | April 17, 2021 3:02 PM |
Quick -- somebody start a part 2!
by Anonymous | reply 524 | April 17, 2021 3:03 PM |
For a country and monarchy entirely funded from being imperialistic overlords over so many peoples over generations, and which now wishes to retain its mantle of the Commonwealth, this entire public ceremony was so very white.
by Anonymous | reply 525 | April 17, 2021 3:03 PM |
r519 does not know the first thing about Philip's life.
by Anonymous | reply 526 | April 17, 2021 3:03 PM |
R521, because some arrogant people think that they can turn their hands to anything, and that they know just as much about these things as experts.
by Anonymous | reply 527 | April 17, 2021 3:03 PM |
Will Harry just get a coach seat back to LA or will he be provided with a private jet if amends have been made?
by Anonymous | reply 528 | April 17, 2021 3:03 PM |
I tried to drop-off a casserole for the family at Windsor Castle, but they wouldn't accept it. How rude! I just know that Harry would have loved it.
by Anonymous | reply 529 | April 17, 2021 3:03 PM |

Anyone know the layout of the vault?
by Anonymous | reply 535 | April 17, 2021 3:05 PM |
R526, I've read about his life and he has plenty of bootlickers sermonising him. He was still coddled for his time.
And you can bet that if the Germans ever captured him - he wouldn't be send to a work-camp like the rest of us proles.
by Anonymous | reply 536 | April 17, 2021 3:05 PM |
r525 and r536 have no place on this thread.
by Anonymous | reply 537 | April 17, 2021 3:06 PM |
It wouldn't have been so white if they had had the cast of Porgy and Bess singing My Man's Gone Now.
by Anonymous | reply 538 | April 17, 2021 3:07 PM |
Harry did bow, R468, but more from the side.
Has he always been so fidgety? Does he have ADHD? The slumping, looking all around, etc were not all that respectful.
by Anonymous | reply 539 | April 17, 2021 3:07 PM |
This is boring without any celebrities in attendance.
by Anonymous | reply 541 | April 17, 2021 3:07 PM |
This was greyed out? Why on earth?
The Cambridges and Harry were instructed to behave and make nice. I doubt there is any sincere goodwill there, but they behaved civilly and that’s all that matters.
I would hope that the brothers can reconcile between themselves but until Markle is gone, everyone should exercise caution.
by Anonymous | reply 542 | April 17, 2021 3:07 PM |
Seeing the Queen sitting by herself during the service was heartbreaking. I thought it was a beautiful service with a William, Harry, Kate reunion at the end.
by Anonymous | reply 543 | April 17, 2021 3:07 PM |
Harry's always been disrespectful, so that's not new.
by Anonymous | reply 544 | April 17, 2021 3:08 PM |
r531 Nevertheless I bet she has hot comforting passionate sex with her hunky husband tonight I like the thought that Beatrice will expect an orgasm tonight as that will help her during this sad time.
by Anonymous | reply 545 | April 17, 2021 3:08 PM |
Do you think the image of the queen alone in black will become the symbol of her reign, which began with such hope, ending in tatters and public cynicism, two dud sons, one a crim, married to a grifter; one grandson gone off to Yankieland and married to a another grifter. Turn off the lights, draw the curtains.

by Anonymous | reply 550 | April 17, 2021 3:09 PM |
r540 Any pictures of Princess Alexandra at the funeral?

by Anonymous | reply 553 | April 17, 2021 3:10 PM |
No R547 There are billions of images of HM The Queen.
This will be but one of them, in a myriad of others.
by Anonymous | reply 554 | April 17, 2021 3:10 PM |
It would have been nice if in the funeral it had been acknowledged that Philip had to endure many vicious personal attacks against him by people falsely claiming that his political incorrectness was racist.

R539 - If you think he's fidgety today, take a look at YT of his wedding. He was very very uncomfortable. There have also been videos of him sniffling, wiping nose constantly. Surprised no one has picked up on this before.
by Anonymous | reply 560 | April 17, 2021 3:11 PM |
The Beeb and Sky are both doing rehashes/post-funeral commentary. Show's over.
by Anonymous | reply 561 | April 17, 2021 3:11 PM |
Who failed Andrew? And Charles? Queen, Prince, or both? Or neither. Charles could have been kinder with Diana. Andrew is a true creep.
by Anonymous | reply 562 | April 17, 2021 3:11 PM |
R555, I think Prince Philip, unlike his detractors, had a full enough life that he didn't let it get him down.

That's because you've created this fantasy soap opera storyline in your head which has nothing to do with any real knowledge of what the Royal Family dynamic truly is.

by Anonymous | reply 567 | April 17, 2021 3:14 PM |
r564 I agree and it would be some nice positive news.
I also wouldn't be surprised if Kate is pregnant with her 4th child.
by Anonymous | reply 568 | April 17, 2021 3:14 PM |
R563, after marrying Liz, he had a cushy 'job' for life - never had to worry about losing his income, never had to worry about a mortgage, never had to worry about 'providing' for his many kids or grandkids
He was set for life, his kids and grandkids are set for life - so of course he had a "full life".
by Anonymous | reply 569 | April 17, 2021 3:15 PM |
I've seen a few images of Prince Charles' fingers (and one of his feet, which I did *not* need), and I'm starting to wonder whether he has some sort of connective tissue disease. My friend's dad had similar symptoms in his last few years.
by Anonymous | reply 570 | April 17, 2021 3:15 PM |
Of course William and Kate are going to chat with Harry. It's the civil thing to do. Makes them look good, too. Are Harry's fans angry that he spoke to them, since they're so awful?
by Anonymous | reply 572 | April 17, 2021 3:15 PM |

R559 Thank you for pointing that out! It was just the push I needed to get over myself and switch over.
by Anonymous | reply 575 | April 17, 2021 3:16 PM |
Most of his harshest detractors, R569, don't have hard lives. They are newspaper columnists with nice houses in London. They are just malcontents and, by the way, very few have children to provide for.

How on earth did this thread get grayed out?
by Anonymous | reply 577 | April 17, 2021 3:16 PM |
As in any dysfunctional family and this one's a doozy I'm sure the relationship between William and Harry has been irretrievably shattered. At least I hope so. It ups the entertainment factor and what else is a royal family for?
by Anonymous | reply 578 | April 17, 2021 3:17 PM |
Wow, we really are going to need another thread for this funeral! It’s over, but the coverage and discussion goes on.
by Anonymous | reply 579 | April 17, 2021 3:17 PM |
William and Harry's hair DNA is inherited from the mother. Google Charles Spencer or Diana's father and you will see what they can expect.
The royal vaults at St. George's used to be open for tours. I got to see King George VI and Queen Elizabeth's spots right after the QM and Margaret died. It's like a grotto.

R573 that amusing Lady Hermaphrodite
by Anonymous | reply 581 | April 17, 2021 3:17 PM |
R576, it's a good thing that most of his subjects are obedient sheep.
Never question why there's a "Prince" in the 21st C. Never question "hereditary rights". Just be good little sheep.
by Anonymous | reply 583 | April 17, 2021 3:19 PM |
I think its creepy to be in a vault. In some cathedrals the grandes are on the main floor where there is sun and air when you look at their marker.
by Anonymous | reply 584 | April 17, 2021 3:19 PM |
It was the Japanese Pearl Choker. Very pretty, but kinda gaudy for a funeral, IMO.

On CNN a couple of Brits are claiming Harry is essential to Prince Charles' success as King. WTF? Harry's sitting on his ass with the D list actress in Hollywood. If he's so devoted to the military, he can join the US Army.
Now Anderson Cooper has announced "we will see how Meghan Markle has honored Prince Philip..." lol

Meh. I was hoping for Meghan Markle and Piers Morgan crashing the funeral totally smashed and making out on the casket, followed by a Benny Hill type of chase. Now, that would be traditional.
by Anonymous | reply 597 | April 17, 2021 3:25 PM |

r577, The Megstans greyed the thread out. They love that Philip has died and are delighted to see the family in pain, because they are psychotic. Only psychos worship psycho Meghan.
Part 2 is up and you know they're busily working away, greying it out as we speak. It'll be greyed out by reply 25.

R525 Surprising that there were no regiments from any of these Commonwealth countries, particularly given the lifelong support of Prince Philip and the Queen. This was not a private ceremony after all.

There was a Benny Hill streaker at the funeral. BBC did not mention it. True.

Interesting how Catherine had to make it all about her and wear particular pieces of jewelry.
You bet your bottom dollar, that dullard William was onto The Queen to secure those pieces for her.
Nauseating, PR manipulaters the both of them.

As they say the names of the courtiers who are responsible for coordinating all today's events, I think of all the people who've been the Queen's Private Secretary and all the other offices in her household over the years. Arranging things, making plans, trying to solve problems, running schedules and events, keeping things going in fair order. They all retire, someone moves up, has to learn more, probably finally get a handle on it for a decade or two . . . and then retires. Hire, train, work, retire. Over and over, hundreds of staff, probably thousands.
And the Queen never retires.
