Great show. Great guys.

by Anonymousreply 1April 15, 2021 2:39 AM

i enjoy these men so much. 7 years together, and seemingly going strong. love the back and forth between them.

by Anonymousreply 2April 22, 2021 2:53 PM

I watched the first show and concluded that if my designer recommended that my kitchen cabinets be coated "gold" using a hardware store spray paint can, I would fire them. If my designer recommended that I decorate my kitchen with colors that represent an "upside-down palm tree", I would tell the designer to put the palm tree and crazy design recommendation where the sun does not shine.

I'm waiting for the racist gentrifier accusations.

by Anonymousreply 4April 22, 2021 3:29 PM

I didn't know they were a couple - I suspected it - but it didn't seem to be called out in the show. Perhaps I'm wrong - but the show makes them seem like business partners?

Very cute couple - and, unlike the other shows, this team is actually doing something to turn around neighborhoods. All of the other flippers are just doing it for money - they're getting a modest return but are renovating entire blocks of neighborhoods.

They should get a lot more credit and press than what they are.

by Anonymousreply 5April 22, 2021 3:41 PM

r3 you may not be the consumer these men are working for. all these houses are purchased by lower income folks who probably have been renting for most of their lives. these decors you so soundly dismiss must seem like a palace to some of the buyers. believe me, i know, i too came from having not 2 nickles to rub together. these men (lovers) are doing wonders for these neighborhoods.

by Anonymousreply 6April 22, 2021 6:37 PM

White saviors.

by Anonymousreply 7April 22, 2021 6:39 PM

we'll take all the "saviors" we can get! no matter what color they are.

by Anonymousreply 8April 22, 2021 9:14 PM

1st season is over. any one know if they will get a 2nd? at least they finally got a place to park their shopping cart!

by Anonymousreply 9June 11, 2021 2:55 AM

Yes, R9! The house they kept for themselves is great!

I like them a lot.

They do keep saying that maybe with these bigger profits, they can afford bigger houses to renovate.

by Anonymousreply 10June 11, 2021 3:13 AM

Who wants to live in Detroit ?

by Anonymousreply 11June 11, 2021 3:13 AM

"I didn't know they were a couple - I suspected it - but it didn't seem to be called out in the show."

They mention it at the beginning of every show. It's part of the opening.

by Anonymousreply 12June 11, 2021 4:57 AM

R12 - but are they just called 'partners'? Cuz that sounds like business partners.

by Anonymousreply 13June 11, 2021 6:03 PM

maybe the double bed air mattress they set up in the nearly finished room while they work on the rest of the house rehab should have been a clue? r13

by Anonymousreply 14June 11, 2021 9:27 PM

I like the couple but most of their designs are hideous.

by Anonymousreply 15June 18, 2021 12:42 PM

Wait, Detroit is in trouble? How did that happen?

by Anonymousreply 16June 18, 2021 12:45 PM

The cops in Detroit purposefully remodel houses and install cameras to track drug dealers and gang activity.

by Anonymousreply 17June 18, 2021 12:49 PM

White colonialism!

by Anonymousreply 18June 18, 2021 12:51 PM

Even Thomas, the taller construction guy, is hot stuff.

by Anonymousreply 19June 18, 2021 1:54 PM

he is, but its interesting to see him "bottom" for the other one! ^

by Anonymousreply 20June 18, 2021 2:43 PM

The designs are a bit “Trading Spaces”, but I get that they’re doing it as inexpensively as possible. I wish I could do my own home renovating. I actually find Keith adorable.

by Anonymousreply 21June 25, 2021 2:45 PM

r13, Keith specifically says, "He's my partner in life and my partner in business."

by Anonymousreply 22June 25, 2021 3:04 PM

I like them too,and wish them all the best, but my god that queen has NO taste . I get hes working with very limited means but come on .

by Anonymousreply 23June 25, 2021 3:12 PM

"[R3] you may not be the consumer these men are working for. all these houses are purchased by lower income folks who probably have been renting for most of their lives. these decors you so soundly dismiss must seem like a palace to some of the buyers."

If you genuinely want to help low income home buyers, you don't saddle them with uber trendy, cheap-as-shit, in-the-moment designs and furnishings that in 2 years the same designers will say is dated and worthless.

Like good clothing, in real estate, you stick with the classics.

by Anonymousreply 24June 25, 2021 3:20 PM

cute boys?! One of them is decent.

by Anonymousreply 25June 25, 2021 3:25 PM

I’m sure with a bigger budget, they could do better design. They’re trying to make you forget it was a run-down $1000 house, and they’re successful in that regard. Sometimes less is more, though. There was a car designer who said bad design can cost just as much as good design, and that’s true. My tastes would be a bit more conservative and neutral, and you can always repaint walls, cupboards, etc. I get what they’re going for, though - impact and making sure you know it’s one of their homes.

by Anonymousreply 26June 25, 2021 3:27 PM

They're a cute couple doing good things for Detroit. It's hard for this western boy to see these rows of neighborhoods with the run down houses and not wonder why people don't want to renovate and live in them... a house like any they've done in the first three episodes would fetch many multiples of what they sell for there almost anywhere in California. They should being the concept west and do a season in South Central LA or East Palo Alto.

The kicker is that Evan has a Ph.D. in Physics and Keith has an MBA.

And Evan reminds me of a fuckbuddy I had in the mid-aughts who was built and looks a lot like him, and he was a *great* fuck. Hard all over. I envy Keith.

by Anonymousreply 27July 19, 2021 3:21 AM

I just discovered this show (outside the U.S.) and looked in on this thread to see 8f there were any word of a second season.

It's an interesting concept and I find the two guys very likable. They are always looking at each other, each with the same expression of "Yes, this guy is my partner, I can't imagine how we are together either, but we are, and he's great."

Saving houses in Detroit is like trying to bring brown Christmas Trees back to life.

by Anonymousreply 30October 21, 2021 6:16 AM

yeah r25 BURN IT ALL DOWN!

*sigh*

by Anonymousreply 31April 26, 2022 1:55 PM

THE BOYS ARE BACK!

by Anonymousreply 32June 9, 2022 1:05 PM

I grew up on the west side of Detroit. These guys are doing a huge service. They are not in it for the money. All profits go into the next renovation. They are providing first time home buyers a move in ready house. Because the completed homes are low priced it gives single parents a chance to make a future for themselves and their children.

by Anonymousreply 33June 12, 2022 7:27 PM

They could renovate my hole. God knows it's a fixer upper.

by Anonymousreply 34June 12, 2022 7:33 PM

Great white hope.

by Anonymousreply 35June 17, 2022 6:34 AM

Are they gays?

by Anonymousreply 36June 17, 2022 7:22 AM

I'm glad they're back !

by Anonymousreply 37June 17, 2022 7:39 AM

I feel like there is an Evan in every college town in the US and I could tell you his whole (boring, safe) life story but I’m not mad at that

by Anonymousreply 38June 17, 2022 7:40 AM

Never heard of them...How much do they charge and is kissing extra?

by Anonymousreply 39June 17, 2022 7:46 AM

[quote]Keith and Evan buy houses for as less as $1,000

Oh, dear!

by Anonymousreply 40June 17, 2022 8:59 AM

"Keith and Evan buy houses for as FEW as $1,000"

Are you happy now?

ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?

Please, Miss "Oh, dear!" imagine if I were being serious and now some lunatic with bad grammar on the internet is angry at you.

And bad grammar doesn't prevent anyone from buying an assault rifle.

Since you like "Oh, dear!" so much it can be your epitaph.

Just kidding.

Or is? (Disenchantment reference before you get your "Oh, dear!" panties wet).

by Anonymousreply 41June 17, 2022 10:18 AM

[quote]"Keith and Evan buy houses for as FEW as $1,000"

Oh, Dumbass! Try "Keith and Evan buy houses for as LITTLE as $1,000"

by Anonymousreply 42June 17, 2022 1:36 PM

Are they faggots?

by Anonymousreply 43June 17, 2022 2:08 PM

This week’s episode was a little different. One of the places the renovated for Shea who bought it with her husband. You can see in this episode how much Shea and her husband like and trust the boys. The feeling seems mutual.

I’m not a fan of all of his designs, but I like watching his creative process. I hope it’s helping those neighborhoods in Detroit.
